I followed the instructions found in this thread:
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7864966&postcount=4
And everything was working fine until i got to step #5.
Step 5: get recovery here hxxp://downloads.unrevoked.com/forev...od/PB31IMG.ZIP
put in sd card and hboot apply
(this will load clockworkmod recovery on your phone so that u can apply updates.)

I applied that file to the root of my sdcard (which is fat32). When i load up hboot, it quickly scrolls filenames all starting with PBxxxxx.zip. It follows by saying "no image or wrong image" etc..(sorry it scrolls so fast i cant even read it in time)
How can i reload clockworkrecovery?

make sure its PB31IMG.zip not. zip.zip or pb31img.zip.....also make sure there is an android info.txt file inside the zip.........and make sure the file is on te root of the sd, not in any folders

make sure to double check the SD card is fat32 and that it is spelled perfect. and like mentioned above to check to make sure it isn't PB31IMG.zip.zip even thought you may only see PB31IMG.zip, you may have to make it PB31IMG

Yeah its named "PB31IMG.zip" coming in at 2,928 kb.
Downloaded straight from Unrevoked....
Im sure its not being mislabeled, I have "show filenames" enabled by default...
This is annoying me...i was moving along just fine...can't figure out this issue!
***EDIT***
I tried it again, and it worked!
Small change, big results... Everytime I plug in my phone as HD, it pops up on my PC as Removable Drive F: and Removable Drive G:
I had been putting all files on Drive F:, and it always seemed to work. I just tried it on G: and it finally ran the update.
I'm unsure why the same SD card is coming up as F: and G:, and why Drive F: worked for everything, but Drive G: was needed for Clockwork
I can't tell for sure which is which, but the reason you are getting two different removable drives is because the Incredible comes with the 8GB internal memory. And you must have had the file on that instead of your SD card, the ONLY way to get it to work is to have it on the SD card.
but I'm happy to see you got it mate!

Hey guys and gals,
I need some help, I have s-off/root using unrevoked forever ... droid incredible 2.2 ... I have tried to load several different splash screens and when I go into HBOOT, it never gives me the option ... I have named the files PB31IMG.zip (have tried the one they offer with unrevoked and numerous others) and placed them in the root of my SD card ... by all accounts this should do the trick, but when I go into HBOOT it never says anything about loading a new splash ... nor does it ask me any questions, it scans for several files and always says "Image not found" and goes back to the main HBOOT menu .... any ideas?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Is your SD Card formatted in Fat32? you might want to move everything off your SD card to your PC then format the card thru the PC in Fat32 then move everything back to the card.

Thanks for your response
How would I know file system it's formatted to? It is the same card I used to do the unrevoked forever, would that require the FAT32 file system? How can I format the SDcard after clearing everything off of it?
Make sure it is .zip and not .zip.zip
Go to properties and check the details on the PB31IMG file, usually if there is no .zip, its already there. Adding the .zip just makes it doubled.

Hoping someone had a tip to help me out. Im trying to get my radio updated so that I can properly run skyraider 3.3. I cant seem to get the radio to run in recovery when i try to book from the SD card. Am I missing something here? Any Ideas?
Is your sd card formatted FAT? The most common issue is not having your sd card formatted to FAT 32 , make sure it is for hboot to properly read it.
Is the file name proper? The zip file is case sensitive. Be sure the file name is in upper case before the dot and lower case after the dot.
Sent from my Incredible
Its properly formated as FAT. I cant seem to remember i left the name alone was this suppose to be update.zip on the root of the card? right now i have it in a sub file
The sd card should be FAT32 for hboot to properly see it, the file should be named PB31IMG.zip , and be on the root of the card.
The official radio thread;

Hope this helps.

Im pretty sure the SD card is formated correctly because its worked on all other flashes. Its still not taking the new radio even after showing its loading. It is formated as FAT 32. I have tried both the newest radios. When reading from Hboot it flashes bad image several times and then finally says checking the image and then nothing. Any other suggestions..... anyone?
Just to clarify Im trying to get skyraider 3.3.3 working (keeps rebooting on me after flashing it) someone said i needed to upgrade from the 2.05 radio. I have wiped. When it boots up to the setup screen it tells me that ROM manager has to be forced closed and then about 15 sec later it freezes and reboots.
I cant seem to get the radio to run in recovery when i try to book from the SD card.

If you are 100% sure that you are formatted in FAT32 and have the file name correct then you possibly have the same problem i did which was my stock SD card went bad and I had to get another.
I recently rooted my phone via unrevoked3 and unrevokedforever and tried to flash a custom splash screen as instructed by their website under the unrevokedforever info page (I would post the link, but as a new user I cannot :/ )
After placing the .zip on the root of my sd card and booting it in hboot, the phone proceeds to attempt to load the file but continues to say the following:
"Loading... [insert file name here]
No image!"
or
"Loading... [insert file name here]
No image or wrong image!"
I'm at a loss as to why this might continue to happen. I assume its not the location of the file, otherwise the bootloader probably wouldn't have recognized it. I'm simply confused as to why it won't recognize any images.
For further help, I've attatched the .zip I'm attempting to use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Try redownloading the zip and make sure it's named correctly
Edit: typo and thanked you on accident lol
Just gave it a try, and still no luck... really confused at this point. :/

Make sure your SD Card is formatted to FAT32
Ah, that's interesting! Looks like my sd card is coming up as MS-DOS (FAT16).
Now, I know that formatting it would delete all the files on the card, but if I copy them onto my computer, reformat the drive, and then put everything back exactly the way it was, would that have any effect on my phone whatsoever?
Nope I do it all the time. Just put the on the comp somewhere format then put them back... Just dont boot the phone in between... Then things may get wonky
Just formatted the sd card with no issues, time to see if it will actually let me use a new splash screen... will update once I run hboot.
[UPDATE: Great success! I guess the sd card simply had to be reformatted to put in a new splash screen. Thanks everyone!]
Hey guys, I need some help here. The other night I tried rooting my htc evo with unrevoked. After installing all of the necessary driver and letting unrevoked run its flash, my phone comepletely messed up. The phone booted up like normal one time. I saw the app with the little ninja, superuser or something it was called. There was no unrevoked app or anything. I no longer had the option to change from usb to charge only or anything like that. The phone then vibrated 5 times and the screen shut off with the green l.e.d. flashing. Since then I was never able to get my phone to boot up normally. I could only get to the hboot screen or recovery screen. My hboot screen has said s-on ever since then. I tried installing new roms and everything. My computer would show the bootloader interface under the android phone but my phone would never mount sd card. Everytime I tried to unzip the PC36img.zip it kept saying unable to mount sd card installation error. I've tried all the sd card commands and every solution on any forums. I was so frustrated I simply put my sd card into an old phone and formatted it removing every single thing that was on it.
Today I picked up a sd card adapter hoping it will help.
Now I want to know how I can comepletely start over with a blank sd card. I need someone to point me in the right direction using a GREAT set of instructions. I want to know what the best ROM is to flash onto my phone. Every set I have tried to follow has not helped. I know this is user error but I want to keep trying instead of giving up and buying a new phone.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my thread. I know it's a lot of pissing and moaning.
Someone please help me. I loved my EVO even when it was completely stock. I do want it to still be rooted with a custom ROM.
First off, you are not suppose to be unzipping the files. The PC36IMG.zip goes onto the sd card in the root directory. If you have unzipped the file, chances are you corrupted it so I'd advise you to download it again. If you are new to this I would recommend Sprint Lovers rom since it is mostly stock and everything works. Its a good starting point. So, now that you have a good PC36IMG.zip file on you freshly formatted SD card, stick it back in your phone, boot into the bootloader and select hboot. The phone should find the PC36IMG.zip file and read it. It will then ask you if you want to perform the update. Once the update is done it will reboot. It will take a while for you phone to boot up the first time. It may be on the boot screen for several minutes and then another several minutes on the boot animation. Good luck and once your phone is up and running do a nand backup so you have a good way to get back to the beginning if you stumble again.
I never unzipped the file. I think i just simply overloaded the sd card with stuff and it was confused. Do you have a good link with a good garanteed download of that zip file?

You might also want to double check for Windows settings. If you aren't displaying extensions you might be naming it pc36img.zip.zip (with the second .zip being invisible.)

the naming of it is fine. I double checked them over and over. for some reason on the hboot screen when it was scanning for it it wouldn't find it or show up on my revoery screen when trying to upload zip file. I took my sd card out and put it in my video camera and hooked it up to the computer to view the files. It was on the root of my sd card, however my computer only recognized it as a removal G: drive. My sd card still showed all of my folders from before. So I formatted it and when I get home I'm going to download a new one and put that on the sd card making sure it is the absolute only thing on the sd card and maybe that will work
also should i try and uninstall any driver or any of the unrevoked stuff from before I start over fresh?
Also now since i formatted my sd card, I can no longer go into the clockwork recovery mod. When i try to click recovery on the hboot menu it goes to htc white screen and vibrates five times and shuts off. Should I just go with the amon ra recovery this time?

Once it loads the update it should ask you to press a button to begin the update. You just put it on the sddard, boot into hboot and then follow the prompts. It really couldn't be simpler.

Are you letting it sit for awhile? Typically it will ask you to press power or the trackpad to start the update. I've used SAPPIMG.nbh on my mt3g and PD15IMG.zip on my mt4g to restore the phones to stock with none of the issues you're describing.
Keep trying I guess. It sounds like you're making slow progress.

Well S-ON, not fully rooted. Did you let it sit for a minute and ask for the update?
so i finally got my phone to load the pc36img.zip. and i got to select update. Now when the phone boots up it will not detect the sd card
Ok so i place any PC36IMG.zip on the root of the SD Card and goto into bootloader mode and it never sees this file what is wrong tried to also change the splash screen and update RA and nothing what do i need to do
Did you rename the file to PC36IMG.zip.zip?
Make sure it's properly named. By default in Windows, file extensions are not shown, so the .zip is already there, you don't need to add it.
no i didn't i download it and placed it right on the root of the sd card and it only has one ext .zip

There are two requirements for the bootloader to recognize the PC36IMG. One, it has to be named correctly. Capitals do matter. It has to be PC36IMG. As the previous poster stated, if you add a .zip it becomes .zip.zip, so be sure when you are looking at the file in windows, that it's just PC36IMG, all capitals. The other requirement, is that it has to be on the main directory of your sd card, not in any folders. If both of those requirements are met, the bootloader should scan and find the PC36IMG, and ask you to update. I know you said you did all that already, but just double check the file's location, and how it's named. If everything checks out, and it still doesn't work, I would then suggest formatting your sd card to FAT32, using windows, and then copy over just the PC36IMG, and try again. (of course back up your SD card before you format it ) For some reason, many people have reported the bootloader not finding a PC36IMG, and that formatting the SD card fixed the issue. Hope that helps a bit.

Its inside every PC36IMG, attached is one for amon_ra, but disregard it, extract it and look at the txt file. that file needs to be in the PC36IMG for it'll be detected. I recommend copying to your pc, incase you make a PC36IMG, like if you make a splash screen, ect.
