Hey guys and gals,
I need some help, I have s-off/root using unrevoked forever ... droid incredible 2.2 ... I have tried to load several different splash screens and when I go into HBOOT, it never gives me the option ... I have named the files PB31IMG.zip (have tried the one they offer with unrevoked and numerous others) and placed them in the root of my SD card ... by all accounts this should do the trick, but when I go into HBOOT it never says anything about loading a new splash ... nor does it ask me any questions, it scans for several files and always says "Image not found" and goes back to the main HBOOT menu .... any ideas?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Is your SD Card formatted in Fat32? you might want to move everything off your SD card to your PC then format the card thru the PC in Fat32 then move everything back to the card.

Thanks for your response
How would I know file system it's formatted to? It is the same card I used to do the unrevoked forever, would that require the FAT32 file system? How can I format the SDcard after clearing everything off of it?
Make sure it is .zip and not .zip.zip
Go to properties and check the details on the PB31IMG file, usually if there is no .zip, its already there. Adding the .zip just makes it doubled.

Thank you for that suggestion ... I tried it a few times before changing the name myself, it should have been in correct name off of the Unrevoked website .... upon checking I HAD INDEED changed it to .zip.zip .... changed it back and formatting SD card to FAT32 now ... will let you guys know if this fixes problems ...
Thanks again

You should be good to go after the format.

just what it says in the title, when i reboot into recovery now, it cant see the contents of my sd card so i cant flash anything.
sd card contents are all there normally, i can browse them with astro.
partitioned sd card using rom manager and that is working fine, though not sure if it is ext 2 or 3, presumably its three.
any help will be much appreciated
Are you sure you're not browsing through root of the phone with astro?
Partitioning sd card also means deleting everything on it

Hi thanks for replying.
i can browse the sd card through astro as normal, so i can see all the folders etc and the zip files that i want to flash, but when i go into clockwork recovery it says that it cant see the sd card, or that it maybe full (which its not there are 3gigs left)
any thoughts?
sorry should also mention that i am familiar with rooting and flashing, had a g1 with cyanogen mod and then changed to the desire in april.
so whilst i'm not a complete noob at this the current problem has got me pretty stumped
why would the recovery be unable to read the fat32 partition if it can be read by astro?
also the ext partition is working fine for apps2sd.
update is i noticed that when i reboot into recovery it can still read the nandroid backups that i made, these are the only things that show up and they are in the folder clockworkmod.
no other folders show, this is very confusing
i didnt upgrade the ext when i partitioned it using rom manager, i just left it as whatever rom manager set it as, would this affect anything?
does rom manager do ext2 or ext3 and would this make any difference?

ok i've flashed amon ra instead as i was more familiar with that from the g1 so should be able to work it all out myself now
new member here, did u ever post a fix for this I have just found this post and i am having the same exact issue, any help would be welcome
After getting my s-off and making splash screens, my wife wanted the same on her inc. I did the s-off on her phone, but now wont read the pb31img files.... It looks like it finds it, but says image not found. She was running the new 3.0 skyraider, but then i reinstalled the og 8/1 leak to see if that was it, but still not reading it.
Please help... Not really worried about instaling the splash screens, but i know other instals require that file name. Thanx!!!!!!
reformat your sdcard to fat32. it will only read that kind or partition. I promise it will work after that.

i just saved everything from the sdcard to my comp. how do i format??
nvrmnd... i formated... hope it works!
If it's mounted on your PC as a removable disk, try right-click and "Format"... or open a DOS box and do
format x: /fs:FAT32
where x is your card's assigned drive letter.
I think people keep tripping over this requirement because the smaller sd cards get FAT16 by default.
Success!!!!!!! Thank you guys a 1000,000!!!!!!!
helped a buddy of mine root/ROM today and he was having the same problem.. I agree that alot of people just assume that their cards are fat32 formatted and skip the check..
Hoping someone had a tip to help me out. Im trying to get my radio updated so that I can properly run skyraider 3.3. I cant seem to get the radio to run in recovery when i try to book from the SD card. Am I missing something here? Any Ideas?
Is your sd card formatted FAT? The most common issue is not having your sd card formatted to FAT 32 , make sure it is for hboot to properly read it.
Is the file name proper? The zip file is case sensitive. Be sure the file name is in upper case before the dot and lower case after the dot.

Its properly formated as FAT. I cant seem to remember i left the name alone was this suppose to be update.zip on the root of the card? right now i have it in a sub file
The sd card should be FAT32 for hboot to properly see it, the file should be named PB31IMG.zip , and be on the root of the card.
The official radio thread;

Hope this helps.

Im pretty sure the SD card is formated correctly because its worked on all other flashes. Its still not taking the new radio even after showing its loading. It is formated as FAT 32. I have tried both the newest radios. When reading from Hboot it flashes bad image several times and then finally says checking the image and then nothing. Any other suggestions..... anyone?
Just to clarify Im trying to get skyraider 3.3.3 working (keeps rebooting on me after flashing it) someone said i needed to upgrade from the 2.05 radio. I have wiped. When it boots up to the setup screen it tells me that ROM manager has to be forced closed and then about 15 sec later it freezes and reboots.
I cant seem to get the radio to run in recovery when i try to book from the SD card.

If you are 100% sure that you are formatted in FAT32 and have the file name correct then you possibly have the same problem i did which was my stock SD card went bad and I had to get another.
Hey guys please dont flame... Ive tried searching for this but I keep getting the search is temporarily down try back in 20 - 30 minutes. Does anyone have a line on this version of clockwork and how to apply it.

how do you apply this.. just flash it or do you have to rename it and all of that
it has to be named PB31IMG.. it also must be on the root of an SD card formatted as fat32 (not just fat).

thats not working i formated my sd card along time ago... and when i boot into hboot it just says something about parsing it and doesnt let me update...
I dont mean to insult your intelligence so dont take it that way.. are you sure you are fat32? You can format an SD card in many different file formats.
Connect your phone to a computer and click on the SD card within windows. at the bottom it will tell you your file format. I had mine in fat (not 32) and it would not work. I copied the data to my computer, formatted the card to fat32 and copied it all back and it worked like a charm.
As long as you have a fat32 formatted SD and this file (http://dougpiston.com/files/Recovery/recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-inc_PB31IMG.zip) renamed to PB136IMG.zip in the root of your sd card Hboot will install the file and you will downgrade to 2.5.1.2. I did mine on Monday.
Let us know if you get it working.

Sorry. not following your question. Are you asking how to confirm the formatting? If so, check out my post a few posts ago about mounting to windows and looking. If you are referring to something else can you clarify it for me.
Sorry for the confusion
Oh gotcha, my bad and yes Im fat32 but my phone isnt seeing the update. Its on the root of the sd card and renamed properly

I am not sure if it is case sensitive.... i would make it so that it does match the case shown in my post before that. I did mine that way.
Also, when you are booting the phone with that file in the root of the sd card, you have to hold the volume down button and power button at the same time until you get into hboot.
Sorry if you already knew this... its just that there isnt really anything else to it. Let me know if you are still having trouble.

Yeah its weird, Ive not had a problem in the past with this but its like its not seeing the file
Ok so i place any PC36IMG.zip on the root of the SD Card and goto into bootloader mode and it never sees this file what is wrong tried to also change the splash screen and update RA and nothing what do i need to do
Did you rename the file to PC36IMG.zip.zip?
Make sure it's properly named. By default in Windows, file extensions are not shown, so the .zip is already there, you don't need to add it.
no i didn't i download it and placed it right on the root of the sd card and it only has one ext .zip

There are two requirements for the bootloader to recognize the PC36IMG. One, it has to be named correctly. Capitals do matter. It has to be PC36IMG. As the previous poster stated, if you add a .zip it becomes .zip.zip, so be sure when you are looking at the file in windows, that it's just PC36IMG, all capitals. The other requirement, is that it has to be on the main directory of your sd card, not in any folders. If both of those requirements are met, the bootloader should scan and find the PC36IMG, and ask you to update. I know you said you did all that already, but just double check the file's location, and how it's named. If everything checks out, and it still doesn't work, I would then suggest formatting your sd card to FAT32, using windows, and then copy over just the PC36IMG, and try again. (of course back up your SD card before you format it ) For some reason, many people have reported the bootloader not finding a PC36IMG, and that formatting the SD card fixed the issue. Hope that helps a bit.

Also, to add to that, if the android txt file isn't in there, it won't read either.

Its inside every PC36IMG, attached is one for amon_ra, but disregard it, extract it and look at the txt file. that file needs to be in the PC36IMG for it'll be detected. I recommend copying to your pc, incase you make a PC36IMG, like if you make a splash screen, ect.
