I attempted to install Mikfroyo, and for whatever reason it failed and left me in a perpetual boot loop. I recovered a previous nand, and now I'm having issues with my unlock and everything is running considerably slower. I've tried to wipe several times and recover but to no avail. What should I do now? I'm using clockwork recovery should I switch to AmonRA? Thanks for the help
what unlock method did you use?
I would try wiping and reflashing and see if it fixes the issues. It seems weird that you are haivng them after you nand as it should revert everything back. you didnt change anything else or add any app theme kernel?
This is going from bad to worse it won't recover from a previous nandroid back up now it gets stuck at Checking Md5 Sums and then nothing. Is clockwork the only way to wipe this thing or can I wipe it another way and just load a new ROM?
if you can get Amon Ra recovery isntalled you can try that I have problems now again with clockwork ussually reflashign it or using amon works
Dont freak out if you dont see your nandback ups thorugh amon ra. It looks in a diffrent place. you have 2 options youc an either wipe data with amon and try to flash the update.zip to clockwork and nandroiding or you can move the back up from clockwork>backup to a new directoty on the root of your SD card called backup.
once in the correct folder amon will see and be able to restore them.
download rom manager from the market and use it to reinstall clockwork. If already says you have the latest version of clockwork installed, use it to install AR and just use AR going forward (just don't try restoring a clockwork nand with AR), or use it again to reinstall clockwork after you've successfully installed AR.

Question. I currently have Clockwork for my recovery but now when I try to boot into it via vol up and power it vibrates 3 times and I have to pull the battery and reboot the other way. I think the recovery is broken. Can this be fixed? If I flash Clockwork again will it destroy my recovery images and nand back up? Also, if i switch to Amon can it use clockworks files to back up the phone or do you need to start over? I dont want to lose my original recovery and back up since I rooted. Can anyone help? Also, my Market icon isn't changing anymore with Riptides theme since the new flash. Thanks.
EVO 2.2
Unrevoked Forever
Fresh 3.4.0.1
Netarchy 4.1.9.1 cfs
Riptide 9 Glass Theme v8
It's vol down+power. I think vol up may have worked with an earlier bootloader or firmware, but it definitely doesn't work now.
Also to add on, if you made a backup with ClockworkMod recovery, you cannot restore it with RA recovery.
idk if im rite o no but i dnt thnk ur gona lose thngs if u re install clockwork cuz theres on ur sdcard. idk if im rite o wrng

Wow that was painful to read...but yes, you are correct. Nandroid backups are stored on the SD card (in different formats for AmonRA or Clockwork, depending on what you used to perform the backup). You do need to use the same recovery to restore a backup that you used to back it up in the first place, but wiping your recovery won't kill any backups you made. Repartitioning or wiping your sd card, however...

Did something change recently? Because I could have sworn that I've used them interchangeably. I've had to move the backups to different locations depending on the recovery, but usually I can get them to restore. If I'm not mistaken, they both use Nandroid to perform the backup. I think the biggest difference is ClockworkMod does an MD5 checksum, and Amon doesn't, which can cause problems if you don't disable MD5 check.
Vol down plus power.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses. Anyone have any idea about the Riptide9 theme not changing all the images though? I cleared it and flashed the theme three times now. Maybe it's the new update...
I still don't think Clockwork wipes the Dalvik/cache/battery
clockwork definitely has problems with dalvik. i use amon. adb is a bit touchy with it, but it is all around better. and also nand backups backup wimax images.
I tried to update my phone to Gingerbread rom using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109272
My problem is that I can not boot out of recovery or boot at all. I still have S-off and can still get into the boot loader. I was using a Unrevoked 3 with stock Froyo before I tried to update. I did a NanDroid backup and it still won't restore the rom I had before. It gives me an error " Error while flashing boot image" . I am using Clockword Mod v2.5.0.1. I tried updating the PC36IMG.zip file in hboot, but still won't boot. I am fully able to get into recover and hboot. Will someone please help!
did you name it pc26img? it should be PC36IMG.
Yeah , it is PC36IMG.zip

Well that was probably the most confusing method you could've tried to update.
The reason you're most likely getting the boot.img error, is because the nandroid backup that you're trying to restore, was created when you were on a different bootloader. If you followed the method that you linked to, I'm pretty sure that the new bootloader would've been installed with that. Since it's a different bootloader, your nandroid backups (from when you were on an older bootloader) will not work. You'll have to get the phone booting, and then start making a 'new set' of nandroid backups. Your old ones will most likely be no good now.
I would suggest that you download a new rom, and try to flash it after performing a full and thorough wipe. I would suggest using Amon Ra to perform a full wipe and do your flashing. I'll attatch a PC36IMG of Amon Ra version 2.3. Put that file on your sd card, then boot to the bootloader, and select yes to let it flash. Then boot to recovery, wipe everything in there, except for your SD card. Then flash a rom from scratch and you should be good
Great will try this right now. I was using rom manager to do all backups and restores also. If that helps any.

I would suggest using Amon Ra from now on, and flash everything manually from within recovery, instead of using ROM Manager. And by the way, the recovery you're going to install will NOT work with ROM manager. You can still download roms using rom manager if you'd like, but don't try to use it to actually flash anything for as long as you're on Amon Ra recovery.
So if you're not familiar with recovery, you should be able to figure it out relatively quickly. Just boot to recovery, selct 'wipe'. Select wipe all user data. Also wipe system and boot, and sd ext if your card is partitioned. Then go back to the main menu in recovery, and select 'flash zip from sd card'. Then find the rom that you loaded onto the sd card, select it and flash it. If its an AOSP rom, don't forget to flash teh gapps. Good luck.
EDIT: I would use one of these ROMS if you're looking for the stock OTA updated.

You're very welcome. I'm glad you got it squared away. Good work.
First issue is that for some reason, my wimax.img created when making a nandroid backup with ra 2.3 is only like 2,000 kb or a little larger. I understand from a previous post that wimax images are usually around the 12,000kb mark. When I backup using Clockwork, the resulting wimax.img is just over 12,000kb leading me to believe it is a good backup. This all came to issue a month or so ago when I thought my keys were gone. I ended up finding a few old backups on my pc, one nandroid and one clockwork, both of which contained the wimax image. However, when I nandroid restore the nandroid image, key checker said my keys were present but I wasn't able to connect to 4g. I then restored the clockwork backup and was able to connect to 4g right away. After further discovery in the backup folders, I found the nandroid wimax image to be just over 2,000kb while the clockwork image was over 12,000. I have tried to reflash ra recovery but it still only creates a 2,000kb wimax image. What is wrong????
The second part of the problem is that when I try to switch to clockwork from Rom Manager, it won't do it. It is stuck in RA!! Therefore, I cannot get into clockwork to restore any of the images I backed up that way. I had this issue in the past only I was stuck in Clockwork and couldn't get into RA. At that time, someone sent me a PC36100.zip (of RA recovery flash) which I put onto the root of my sd and flashed in bootloader, which allowed me to access RA recovery again. Why does it get stuck?? And, does someone have clockwork in a pc36100.zip format I can boot from?
Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it!
ok heres the pc36img for clockwordmod that you flash from hboot/fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=575257&d=1303478367
and for first issue try falshing an older recovery of amon ra then the newest amon ra 2.3
Great Jadden, thanks for the help. Do you by any chance have a zip of an older version of RA as well? What adverse effects will there be by downgrading? Can I recover a backup made in 2.3 with say 1.8? Are they 100% compatible?
By the way, is there any way to tell how big the wimax image is that the phone is currently operating on without making a backup of it? Some type of terminal prompts or something?
Sorry I don't have an older version of Amon-Ra and I don't know of any terminal promts either
So i tried to flash muiu rom thru rom manager and got caught in a reset loop at the boot screen. I then flashed a old cm7 zip from the recovery screen just to get the phone to boot. When i tried to restore my backup from rom manager it takes me to the recovery screen and does not restore ( just stays at the recovery screen). i really would like to restore that backup. any suggestions?????
Well, this won't help your back up problem, but trying wiping everything you can, except the SD Card and the flash MIUI in Recovery.
ROM Manager is really not a dependable way to flash a ROM.
Also, you try to reflash your recovery before you do anything and try the back up again.
Oh, and if you're not on it now, use Amon Ra for Recovery. Plenty of threads that tell you how to get it.
Thanks but is there any way to restore the backup I made with rom manager in recovery?
I was on the energy rom (12/25/2011) and went into recovery and tried to restore one of my backups and was getting the md5 mismatch error. Then i tried using amon recovery instead of clockwork and still didnt succeed. Then I went into terminal emulator and did a fix for md5 error and tried to flash again after wiping and now im stuck on white boot screen. No matter which backup i try to use. Please help!!!! Thx
your best bet is to probably use Amon Ra to wipe everything (Except SD Cardthen reflash your rom
how do i get back on amon if i can only get into clockwork? Last time i was amon i went through rom manager and flashed it that way.
Don't use ROM Manager. I have a detailed explanation and a link to the file you need in my guide. Click the link in my signature

its ok use clockworks just wipe 3 times with clockworks and then install a fresh copy of the rom instead of a backup then ull be past the white screen //.... its not the recoveries issue its the backup itself then flash amons recovery and never go back to cwm

OK, it's Clockwork, not clockworks, Amon, not Amons and clockwork does NOT wipe properly.
Just do as I posted and you'll be fine

Ok, so I was able to flash amon from your link (thx) and now I can't flash my backups. Am I supposed to download another stock rom and start from fresh again or will I be able to still use my backups that I made on clockwork?
Dude your backups are done. You couldn't flash them before, either.
You should delete your backups, flash the stock/Rooted ROM, and make a Nandroid of that, then do the wipe process again, and flash the custom ROM you want.
