Seem to be having issue with icon not disappearing from notification bar.
Have tried task killer but still not going away.
Can anybody help.

get advanced task killer free from the android market
install, go into it, select the program your thying to kill and simply press the button at the top, "kill selected apps" as far as I can remember..
if that doesnt work go into the app (hotspot or whatever you're trying to close) press menu and see if it has any options to do with the notification bar icon...
hope this helps! good luck!
Thanks for your reply but already tried both. Just won't go away and really don't want to wipe.

This started happening to me out of no where. Can anyone think of a solution or the cause of this issue ?
Everytime I hit the home key it will ask me to choose a default launcher. After I do, it will ask me again every time I hit my home key.
Im choosing Touchwiz, the other option is Go home since it comes with my rom.
I'm running Calkulins 2.9.2 rom.
I have uninstalled apps related to Widgets and launchers, cleared defaults etc..
How could I uninstall the go home app completely? Maybe that will do it.
Thanks in advance everyone !

First, you are checking the default checkbox before you select the launcher after pressing home right?
Yes. lol
I could only wish it was that simple.
Its not really a big deal but after a while its annoying having to push an additional button.

Well, just use root explorer or something to delete the application, or just use like titanium backup and un install it that way

Is there a way to close apps using the "other apps" area, ie when you hooks down the home button and see list of recent apps, Swype left or right to remove from list, but this doesn't close them. Is there a way so that it will close the apps?

It does close them

Task Manager
or
Giving phone a mini-bath
Yeah use task manager
I just want to be able to Swipe then away like it has without without having to go to another screen. For example (sorry to use this as an example) on iOS a user can double tap the home button to see all running apps and can close the apps right there. I want to be able to do the same thing with the system we have.

Can I ask why? Android handles task/memory management without your intervention. The only time you should have to manually close an app is if it stops responding.
swiping from the recent list does close them...
Yes, this is correct, swiping from the recent list does NOT close any apps, it just clears them from the list.
If you wanted to force close an app click the task manager button, then click exit or exit all on the Active Applications tab.
Wrong..... It does close them. End of discussion. Look at your task manager then do the screen wipe and clear all tasks... Check task manager again... All gone.

It does close them but beware, unless the application is ACTIVELY running in the background closing applications will do nothing but free a little RAM (which you have plenty of) and will decrease battery life if you restart the applications at a later time.
Right now I have 26 Apps "open" and have no slow down. All in all I suggest you leave them be.

Which CM10 are you running? The nightlies in Nov and Dec have a kill all button in the top right corner. (Looks like steps) press it and voila!

I believe that is to clear all notifications. He wants to be able to clear his recent apps drawer of all opened apps. I am not running CM10 so I'm not sure how to activate it on CM10, but on AOKP it's in in Settings--> ROM Control --> General UI.

The clear notifications is if you drag down the notifications bar.
I wrote that message at 4:15am and was half asleep. I forgot to add that you have to hold the home button and the icon is there to kill all.
Unless it isn't what that icon is for...
I am using 10.0.0 d2att,when i long press on home bottun i see only the recent apps i used and don't have any other sign or somthing to push on, and obviously i don't have rom control to change it, is there a Solution for thithanks

Just update. In About Phone should be Cyanogen menu for updates. Its an auto installer. Everything is done for you after it downloads.

Removing apps from the most recent list does not "kill" them. Android will "kill" apps when it needs to.
Anybody able to get into google now menu after the update? I can hit the menu button but the pop up menu just immediately disappears.

Same here. Stock Unrooted after 4.1.2 OTA. No access to Google Now Menu. Flashes briefly then disappears. Tried to clear cache but won't clear. Tried to uninstall updates in application manger but hangs on uninstalling screen.
Click on the bar at the top to bring up your keyboard and now the menu will stay open.

Menu won't stay open whether keyboard present or not. Using Swiftkey.
Finally got the Google Search update to uninstall and the menu opens normally when not updated. Hmmm.

I have the same issue. Re-updated and menu flashes and disappears.
Add me to this list also. It's a bug in the new search update. It really sucks. Thankfully I don't need to use the menu/setting that much.
If I do I can get into it via settings.
Do a dummy search first, then try it....

Yep, this worked for me too. Now if I can just figure out why my battery life took a hit with the new update. Life will be good again.

I was able to get into that menu. But I still can't get into the menu if nothing is typed in the search bar.

Quick update. Still happening.
Workaround (based on previous posts and trials)
Open Google Now.
Type a space (or any placeholder text in the search bar.
Close the keyboard and retry the menu key. The menu should now pop up and float there.
The search bar seems to have to have something in it for menu to not instantly close again. I've put as little as just that space and it works.
Wonder how Google missed that?

I would hypothesize that this is a Samsung Twiz ROM issue, rather than a Google oops...Trying it on my PACMan 20.1 install I fail to get the bug.
Anyone in this thread so far not using a Sammy TWiz ROM?
Uninstall and re-install Google Search. Clear Google Talk data in App management. Reboot.
It'll work after that.
First off, I am using the "nusense six" Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2693502) and have the HTC one m7.
I have never used the stock sense six firmware but I have noticed that on this Rom, if you tap on the screen just above the HTC logo, it acts as if you pressed a hardware menu button (the menu for the app you are on pops up).
This feature is interesting, but the problem is that when I type and push the spacebar ever so slightly too low on the screen, the keyboard closes and the menu pops up. This has finally become annoying enough for me to make this post and I hope someone can help me disable this feature. Thanks!
Also if anyone knows of a relitively stock sense six Rom without this thing, please let me know.

It's just a kernel setting. You should be able to disable it using Trickster Mod.

I have browsed Trickster and can find no way to change this button layout. When I installed NuSense, I chose the option for logo button to be "home" plus "recent apps" out of curiosity. Now I want it back to stock. Where in Trickster mod can one change this?

That's not in trickster. Just reflash the Rom without wiping and select the stock option.
