Same here. Stock Unrooted after 4.1.2 OTA. No access to Google Now Menu. Flashes briefly then disappears. Tried to clear cache but won't clear. Tried to uninstall updates in application manger but hangs on uninstalling screen.
Click on the bar at the top to bring up your keyboard and now the menu will stay open.

Menu won't stay open whether keyboard present or not. Using Swiftkey.
Finally got the Google Search update to uninstall and the menu opens normally when not updated. Hmmm.

I have the same issue. Re-updated and menu flashes and disappears.
Add me to this list also. It's a bug in the new search update. It really sucks. Thankfully I don't need to use the menu/setting that much.
If I do I can get into it via settings.
Do a dummy search first, then try it....

Yep, this worked for me too. Now if I can just figure out why my battery life took a hit with the new update. Life will be good again.

I was able to get into that menu. But I still can't get into the menu if nothing is typed in the search bar.

Quick update. Still happening.
Workaround (based on previous posts and trials)
Open Google Now.
Type a space (or any placeholder text in the search bar.
Close the keyboard and retry the menu key. The menu should now pop up and float there.
The search bar seems to have to have something in it for menu to not instantly close again. I've put as little as just that space and it works.
Wonder how Google missed that?

I would hypothesize that this is a Samsung Twiz ROM issue, rather than a Google oops...Trying it on my PACMan 20.1 install I fail to get the bug.
Anyone in this thread so far not using a Sammy TWiz ROM?
Uninstall and re-install Google Search. Clear Google Talk data in App management. Reboot.
It'll work after that.

Using Adw launcher, when you push the menu button, where is the notification tab? There is an edit tab now. I downloaded the one from the market, but I could've swore the notification tab was there before. Is it maybe a newer version, or am I just missing something?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I believe it is gone. My ADW no longer has it.
Hmmm, I guess ill try to find an older version? I know you can swipe down on the top of the screen, but its easier to just push the tab. Thanks for confirming.

I would do a Google search to see if there are any old articles with a download link.

There are several other functions you could do like set the home button to go to home page and if on home page drop down notification screen or to just drop down notification screen. You can also use the swype up or down function to access the notificaion screen. I have my home button set to drop it down but nine out of ten times i just drag the notification down and because i gott get my finger up there anyway lol I know its a stretch.
i personally cannot find the option to add more home screens in ADW launcher version 1.1.3 . Don't know why it's gone. The option used to be there. Does anyone else know why i can't change it from 5 screens to whatever i want any more?
Hit menu, then the edit button, then click on one of the green plus signs. That's what I did, and I have 7 screens now.

Now that I have installed Google Now, I notice when I double tap the home button S Voice doesn't open up anymore. I checked the setting and the button is ticked to set S Voice to open on double tap of the home key. Any suggestions? I don't know if my installing Google Now had anything to do with it, but I noticed it stopped working round about the time I installed now. Please help.

You can program that if you use Nova Launcher or depending on your rom, you can program it from settings.

I have Google Now installed and s-voice. I can launch Google Now by holding menu button and launch s-voice by double tapping home.
Flash this Roms
I flashed this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869300
It gives me 50 GB in dropbox, google now and s voice with double tapping.
Give it a try, you wont regret it
I previously had a GNEX. Loved the swipe up from home shortcut for Google Now. On my Note 2 the only way I see to launch Google Now is by holding the menu button. This is ok, but it brings up the keyboard and recent search entries causing clutter (and yiu have to press the back button to make the keyboard go away). And the prior search results stay on the screen.
Is there a faster/better way to quickly access Google Now?

I use Nova launcher and can swipe up for GOOGLE
Gesendet von meinem GT-N7100 mit Tapatalk 2
Use Swipepad: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1vYmkuY29uZHVjdGlvbi5zd2lwZXBhZC5hbmRyb2lkIl0.
(which is a must have app for any android device)
Then put google now in one of the slots. All you have to do then is swipe up from your chosen hotspot to it and you're set. :good:
You can do it by a long press on the menu touch button, or dragging the google shortcut from the lockscreen.

In my OP, I mention the menu way. It's annoying because it brings up the keyboard and recent searches. You have to hit back to get rid of the KB and the recent searches stay there. It's not ideal.
I downloaded swypepad, but in order to use more zones, you have to pay. Lame.
Oh well.

So your's doesn't do this when either holding the menu button or touching "google" on the search bar (widget)?
What?
If you use Nova, you can bind Search Text to "long press menu". That brings me the Google+ screen...

Long press on my home button brings up my recent apps and three icons at the bottom.
Pie chart, Google and dustbin.
Press Google for Google now. No keyboard or recent searches appear.
However, if i touch the word Google on the search widget then Google now comes straight up but with the keyboard

I just got this phone today and so far I love it. One thing that is bothering me is the google search widget that is on the home screen. Is there a way to remove this? I've tried everything I can think of. Thanks!

You can disable it but you can't use the space it used to take up at the top of the home screen. I just got holo launcher (a home screen app) and now I have all that space usable too.

After disable Google Search, try to apply the theme again and the search bar should be disappeared.
I was wondering if anybody knew the cause or solution to this issue. I am trying to get to the settings. I press menu but it pops up and then it blinks off the screen so fast I can't even read it. I am rooted using ACE 4.6.1 with Splash v7 update 5 installed. I have removed Google search 2.3.xx and downloaded it from the market again and I still have the same issue.
Its an issue with tw phones I believe. I read multiple are having the same thing in the google now play store spot.
Im having it too.
Most likely they are working on it

I see you are on a custom ROM so this will not help you unless you can get a hold of the stock Google Search apk. I am on stock and uninstalled the updates for Google Search now all is well.
Google now
I don't think that's the case. I am using note 1 and have the issue. Using stock rom
