I have been using Realook on my vibrant for 3 weeks now and its PERFECT, no button issues or loss of glass feel.
I ordered an extra Realook and got a printout with it that says some of the Realook screens shipped for Vibrant/Captivate have dents on them which usually go away in a few weeks, if not then they will replace it for you.
Just wanted to let everyone know in case yours came with a dent and you still have it. If you do, then you can get an exchange by emailing support at realook.us
and mentioning in subject line about the replacement
also include your amazon/ebay order no. and other info...
Just wanted to mention this here so you don't look at that one tiny dent and wonder, if you are the only one with this problem
where are you guys purchasing your realook screen protectors from? cheapest I found is 10.99 on Amazon. Thanks!
Got mine from amazon. That's acode for an extra 10% off

By 'dent', does that mean the air bubble around the speaker?
Got mine on ebay. I read on the forum that some of the amazon orders were taking a couple of extra days to ship.

damn just paid for mine on ebay yesterday too, was trying to find the code before I purchase, it's ok tho only a few bucks.
It took me 10 minutes to install mine prefectly with no bubbles at all. None!
Not even near the ear piece speaker.
It's hard surface protects soooo much better than the rubbery feeling ones. It's a different brand, but same quality that I found for my G1.

Good point, that could be the case. I still have that tiny airbubble near speaker, otherwise perfect...I'd like one without bubble but don't want to put it on again unless I visit partical accelerator or hubble telescope manufacturing facility
What do you guys recommend on installing the Realooks screen protector? Dry or wet application? I installed a Zagg-like SP on my vibrant and hated it. But I must say I did a "professional job" when I installed it. I did it using a spray bottle and it worked like a charm. Can I do the same with Realook?

Realook is a dry application.
Bumping this to give everyone who doesn't already know a heads up... don't be fooled like I was into thinking your Realook is washable. Wait let me rephrase that. Don't be fooled into thinking your Realook is washable and that you'll be able to get it back on there like new. Cause nothing could be further from the truth! My god, the amount of time I've wasted trying...
It washes just fine, the problem begins when you try to dry the damn thing. Air, clots, blowdryers, etc. All useless. I could not even get it close to acceptable.
Trust me, save yourself time and aggravation. Just order another set lol.
You must be doing something wrong or have a bunch of dust floating around. I've washed mine and it's still perfect.
Try this, like the instructions say. Spray water in the air to avoid dust particles from floating around. Also clean it with warm water. I washed mine using a mix of 50% water/ 50% alcohol.
It will take some time after you put it back on to look good again. Let it dry and don't use a blow dryer or anything that will blow dust around, you'll just get frustrated.

So wait, you let it air dry or you let it dry while it's on the phone? When I let it air dry a lot of water spots remain. I couldn't clean them off properly without something adhering to the protector.

With the 50/50 mix it should dry with no water spots. or the water spots could be because you have hard water?
either way the 50/50 mix will help, let it air dry for about a minute then put it on your phone. It'll look like it's slightly wet underneath but it will dry, just make sure it's not soaking otherwise you may damage the phone. A little moisture is not going to hurt and the alcohol should evaporate anyway.

I just ordered some Realook screen protectors from Amazon today. The stores here did not have any screen protectors of any brand for the Vibrant, and I just didnt want to wait any longer without protection. Then to my surprise a few of the Bell Mobility dealers just got in some iShieldz. They tell me they stopped carrying other brands because they found these were the best protectors hands down. Can anyone else comment on how they compare to the Realook protectors.
i recently bought some cheap ebay protectors for my galaxy s and to be honest i was not satisfied with the finish and bubbles on my screen. so i came on here and researched on screen protectors there are 2 kinds of them : one is water based screen protector ishields is one of them and second is dry application. i did not want to risk my device with water damage and went with realook "SP". ishields are not smooth and have that rubber feel to it just like invisible shields. i would recommend reallook as long as u do a bubble free installation , install it in ur bathroom after u take a shower cuz the dust particles settles down in steam
i will post some pix of my samsung with realook on in next post
here s a 10 % off coupon if u order from amazon "2ZDlV2W5"
Never heard of iSheldz, but if you can, go in store and see if they have any demos to get a feel of it. If it feels like rubber, then well, it's your call. I don't like that rubber feeling and went with Realook. Realook is like a piece of plastic per say. You don't have that rubber feeling and after awhile, it will feel just like the naked screen, for me anyways.
Your call.
I'm in the market for a screen protector too. I heard Realook is better than iShields but, I like the rubber feel better.
Anybody with Realook, is the installation easy?
Is Realook installation easy?
For me it was not very easy, and not very difficult. I got frustrated initially by dust particles (which for me were impossible to avoid) causing bubbles. The key turned out to be using scotch tape to remove individual spots from the underside of the film (which is exactly what the directions suggest).
The other trick was getting the positioning exactly right. The fit is quite precise, so 1/4mm off on the angle and it will run off the side of the glass at the bottom. I ended up using a piece of tape on the top surface of the film at both the top and bottom to help in both lifting it to remove dust particles and to get the positioning just right.
It's a dry application, which makes it less dangerous as far as getting liquid in the phone, but you can't slide the film around to position it.
The end result though is well worth the 10-15 minutes of effort it took me. It's probably as close to the original glass look and feel as is possible.
I took an advice from another user here saying to run hot water in the bathroom so that it will be filled with steam and result in less dust in the air. I did just that. Took a shower and then immediately started to apply the screen protector. Took me two tries. Make sure to have scotch tape ready so you could peel it off if you messed up.

Probably want to keep the tape out of the bathroom when your taking the shower to ensure the proper adhesiveness.
iShieldz look like Zagg lite, they feel like Zagg kinda sticky and after a few weeks they make the screen look like crap.
My vote is for Realook...
Just be patient and do it in a place where you are not going to be disturbed for the few minutes it will take to get it on perfectly. Doesn't even look or feel like it's there. You'll love it and you get two for the price.
real look it looks amazing and very easy to install ...
I use Realook and didn't find it to be terribly hard to install. It's the best looking I've ever seen and it's smooth, so there's no finger friction on the touch screen, which is a requirement for me (Swype user). If I were going to do it all over again I'd definitely go with the Realook again. I can't imagine anything better.
I somehow got a nasty scratch on my realook today. I really don't know how. But I want to cry lol better that than my phone I guess

wow I ordered a realook screen protector, amazon said a delivery date on the 20th, I got it 2 days after I ordered it. It was hard as hell to install, I got dirt and fingerprints all over my first one, then I tried the other, took my time, had allot of dust on the screen causing bubbles, got some scotch tape and slid it under neath and took off the lint all over it after I washed it with water, sqeegeed it on, it was tedious but it doesnt look like I even have one on it, freakn amazing, next time i put one on it'll be much easier. First time took a while lol
Realook suggests to spray some water in the area that you are going to apply the SP to cut down on dust. I sat under a ceiling fan, on low, when I put mine on. Just take your time when applying it and you will be happy with it. I am with mine .
For all the people that have bubbles/ lint /dirt / fingerprints behind their screen protector from a fumble or rushed / botched install. here is your salvation!
It is a little known fact that *most* of the screen protectors are completely washable. The "sticky" side wont wash off or smear or in any way ruin.
1. Peel it off
2. Run under water and use your hand to remove lint, dirt specs, smudges ect.
3. Hold by the corner tightly (little as possible) with an absorbant towel and shake vigorously in front of a fan or air purifier (better) until completly dry.
NOTE. Slowly air drying will leave water spots from impurities in the water. Purified water may solve this problem.
4. clean screen
5. reapply protector CAREFULLY THIS TIME!!!
6. and, repeat if necessary for perfect clean lay.
there is nothing i find more annoying than a bubbled screen. i got a perfect lay on my third attempt. first got botched by an incomming call, then got lint in there.. you know, life..
hope this helps some people. spread the word.
I know the feeling, I live in a dusty old house, and it is almost impossible to get a protector on there without some mote of dust landing.
But thanks for the tip

Another tip use scotch tape to peel off the screen protector and remove dust particles from the sticky side of the screen protector.
thats a good idea too.
Heh, nice tips, had this issue when i owned an iPhone 3Gs.
Some other tips that work for me.
Instead of water, get an alcohol screen cleaner wipe as it will clean and dry quickly.
If you are in a dusty environment, go into the bathroom and run the shower on hot to create alot of steam, this will remove most of the dust from the air.
Will definitely have to try this when I get home. Thanks!
OOPS! did i bump that?
I've known this for a bit now, I thought most people would since some screen protectors are applied using a mix of soap and water.

A couple of months after using this case, i find that it has damaged my screen. The leather seam on the inside left surface has perhaps either deposited some oils or has caused abrasion to my handset. The screen now has a horizontal streak across its face. It won't come out through cleaning.
Any help, please?
Not happy.
Try strong alcohol from a pharmacy (booze won't do it, they might make it sticky)
Umm, alcohol, really? Curious, why do you say that?
I don't want to damage it further. Could alcohol?
Not exactly sure what has happened to the screen.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Perhaps try something like Brasso Gadget Care? I find that works really well on screens.
Didnt you have a screen protector?
Ive been using that case for about the same time and mine is fine (I use a screen protector) I have a line across it but it wipes off.
I also dont put credit cards in it as I thought it would put added pressure on the screen, I just use it to hold a couple of my business cards.
I use alcohol on my laptop screen and it's not gorilla glass that I can tell you.
I use it because it evaporates quickly, doesn't leave stains or lines.
You want some Isopropyl Alcohol from the local chemist. Dilute with water. I use that on my monitor screen, cleaning thermal paste from my CPU, and my phone would be next.
Would alcohol damage the oleophobic coating?

I think so...
I don't use the unofficial, cheap leather cases. Purchased one for my Desire HD a few months ago, and the casing that holds the phone (attached to the "leather") was ridiculously tight. Took me 15 minutes to get it out of the thing...
If you're gonna get a case then get a decent, brand named leather case (with good reviews), an official Samsung mesh case or if your budget won't stretch then get a cheap silicone gel case off ebay (£2-3 tops) as i've bought a few for different handsets and they're always good value for money
I say dont waste your good alcohol on your Sammy but drink it yourself
Mine pops out in seconds without putting any extra stress on the phone
been using it for months now and no problems with it marking the screen (if you don't have a screen protector its your own fault) and in that time I've gaudy out of the case around 5times easily.
I wanted a case that gives good shock and screen protection, what better than a padded (plasticy fake)leather case? my phone fell out of my hoody pocket as I was going up some concrete stairs.it got almost every step and it's fine. A cheap silicone or samsung case would have resulted in a dead screen for sure..
Best£3 I've spent on a phone accessory.

just got my screen protector, but failed to get it in without a bunch of hairs or bubbles underneath. what tips do you guys have for getting it on there without fail? Can I rinse it and hang it dry then try again? Or should I just buy a new one? pics/videos welcome

1. Wash your hands with soap
2. Turn off fan/AC
3. Use handheld water sprinkler(for plants) to sprinkle water in the area you are going to use for putting on the protector
4. Have some cello tape on the side to get rid of hair dust etc. from the edges underneath the protector
even better than that go to your local Tmobile store and they will put it on. My wife and I both have SGS2 phones and you can't really tell the screen protectors are on. The employees burned through a pack because they screwed up the first attempt on both phones. The price was 14.95 (pack of 2) but just the fact they put it on for you is enough.
Thanks guys. I'll be sure to hit thanks. I haven't tried the first method yet because I've been busy.

this is what i do,
apply the screen protetor after you take a hot shower or turn on hot water while applying the screen protector (steam will get rid of most of the dust). Use a credit card to smooth out all the air bubbles. Don't worry about the dust too much. After you got all the bubbles out then use
cello tape on the side to get rid of hair dust etc. from the edges underneath the protector.
make sure the area is free of dirt. Just blow off the dirt first before applying the screen protector

in matter of fact i just had them do mine this morning and he was a perfectionist and he did a great job!
Use air duster to get everything off of the screen. Once the screen is completely clean without any dust peel the plastic from the screen protector revealing the adhesive. Line up the screen protector at the top of the phone, use a credit card covered with a cloth and slide down from the top of the screen potector to the bottom. Should be perfect without any bubbles
Do yourself a favor and get a phantomskin "wet" install screen protector. I've been using them on all my phones and get the zagg protection without orangepeel.just follow the instructions on soapy water and lay it on the phone straight. Best screen protectors IMHO plus it's buy one get one free. They are $10 but use "fall30" code for 30% off. $6.95 shipped to your door. Ill post pics when mines come in this week.

Firstly, In my own experience the phone is not a fingerprint magnet at all. It's very good for keeping fingerprints to a minimum. (coming from HTC Desire which loved fingerprints)
As for the scratch. Holy ouch! That looks like a very severe and stark scratch. I'm not sure that would happen just in general use 'around the house'. Did you leave it on a diamond or a piece of carbon or sand grit in your pocket? Do you have any idea what caused that damage to the glass? IT was obviously a very hard and very sharp material.

Maybe I was exaggerating the fingerprint then but it does seem to attract them :/
And honestly, I have jeans on and they aren't tight, I have put it in my pocket to walk from one room to the next. It hasn't touched anything sharp or grazed off anything all I know is I am gutted
Also before I got rid of my S2, I hammered it with a pen and a key to try and scratch it and I didn't :/
I'm sorry for the scratch man. I hear you. I would be the very same. All I can think is that there was a tiny bit of grit in your jeans pocket. bits of grit like a grain of salt are more dangerous to a phone screen than a Stanley blade because they are sharp right down to a few molecules in width.
I kept my phone in a microfibre bag when I got it, until I could replace it with something like a pouch. It wasn't ideal but it was some sort of barrier between my phone and anything that might be in my jeans or trouser pockets.
I bought a microfiber lined Alcantara pouch since then and keep it upright in my pocket so it should keep any grit in my pockets away from the screen.
What will you do now? Is it insured? Maybe you could "lose" it in a month and replace it with new one and buy a pouch. It's nice of you to provide a warning to others. I think salt/sand/grit are the biggest danger guys. Beware whats in your pocket.

I have a logo on my jeans pocket I wondering if it was that? It is a 3 contract and can be returned within 14 days .. I still have the protectors it came with how rigorously will they check it if I can "no longer afford the contract"? I haven't used the Sim or accessories btw, I have been using my S2 things with it
Ps, where did you get your pouch please?
does you logo use rivets? Also a riveted logo around waist could've been.the culprit. Check to see if coming lose as they can be very sharp. Still don't see the fingerprint thing. Even before I put screen protector. Do you have an extra micofiber pouch for sunglasses? They are cheap if you don't. Something is better than nothing.

OUCH! I dropped mine from shirt pocket to road and the back came off but not one single scratch...... I can't see anything non-metal making that scratch!
I'm picky as hell when iit comes to having scratches on my screen. Besides a screen protector, I never clean the screen with.Windex, paper towels or even rags. Goto WalMart and pick up a tub of Armor All Glass Wipes. I keep one in my house and car and have never had a scratched screen by using them. I also believe since they don't leave as much lint as paper towels, you may not get the dust under the screen issue you see in other posts.

Could be that logo (depending upon material), but there are only a few specially tempered (and carbon-enriched) metal alloys hard enough to scratch glass. Check out the other threads on this topic for more. A ring of almost any gemstone would be sufficient as rubies, emeralds, sapphires, topazes, diamonds, garnet, alexandrites, aquamarines, etc. are ALL harder than silica/quartz (glass).
I also noticed that I had a 1cm scratch at the top of my phone this morning and it was quite deep. I cant remember if anything else was in my pocket with my phone but I dont have any diamond tipped keys and I dont usually walk around with sand in my pockets lol. Anyway it was quite noticeble and im not going to stare at that for the next 2 years, and luckily I had a returns bag already from phones4u so I rang them up and as its within 28days of purchase Im still entitled to an immediate replacement so the phones gone off and I should get a brand spanking new phone next week
In the mean time I shall be ordering a zagg screen protector to put on it as soon as it gets here to keep it scratch free in future
