As you guys knew that Kies was offering JM1. I decided to upgrade anyways (despite getting "dont update" comments in other post here).
just finished updating my phone and the lag is minimal.
The details in "Settings > About Phone" gives me this
Model Number : GT-19000
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: I9000XXJM1
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build Number: ECLAIR.I9000XXJM1
and the *#1234# gives me this:
PDA: I9000XXJM1
PHONE: I9000XXJM1
CSC: I9000OXAJM1
New Features:
the first thing I've seen is the new Sweep Lock Animation. (its the same as the old one but with animated arrows on each side).
faster media scanning?
new notification for fully charged battery. (there was a popup earlier, now the notification pops up in top bar with a sound).
new Task Manager! (yes a Task Manager from Samsung!)
The quick toggle keys in notification list has been changed! a new GPS icon has been added.
a notification(?) appears when USB is connected asking to close all apps before trying to start up MTP mode.
[*]MTP mode starts automatically instead of menu.
[*]New notification sounds.
[*]Larger speakers/mute/headset buttons during call.
[*]Customizable fonts via FlipFonts.
the phone feels slowish when I press "application" or "home" only due to the animation. If there was no fade in/out animation, It would have been awesome!.
will check the battery life tonight when I go to work.
till then ciao!
If we only could get it in norway too.. :/
I don't get it. Is JM1 newer than JM5?
All those features exist in JM5!!
JM5 is newer than JM1
JM1 is official where as JM5 isnt.

OK, i get it.
I'm on JM5 and it flies with 2200 at Quadrant but i have issues with bluetooth and so i'm searching for good alternatives..
could you please:
- tell me where i download it from some official Samsung site?
- post your quadrant score
- tell me if you feel "the lag" or if you applied the no lag fix?
Thanks

Hi,
You can download the official firmware from Samsung Kies Software
My quadrant score is 896
I haven't applied any lag fix as of now. But my phone is reasonably faster.
When I ran quadrant, the Task Manager showed me that I had around 110MB free memory left in RAM.
updated my first post.

Maybe you can enter *#*#44336#*#* to see the build date/time too. And I'm wondering if you got a changelist entry there (a number).

Interesting to know that this fw version also has a changelist nr. It seems that all official releases have a changelistnr, whereas test versions don't.

One more observation, the battery icon on mine doesn't turn to yellow and red anymore as it empties.
Could U upload the backup form ROM Manager?
Posted this another place too, but didn't get any answers. Is this official jm1 different from the unofficial one? Are they IDENTICAL?

Thanks, but that wasn't my point, I was just trying to add an observation to the changes seen in the official JM1 firmware.
Besides, that mod doesn't have a version for the JM1, so I couldn't use it even if I wanted to.
I was on jm1 before I flash with jm5. I think I notice, jm1 allow me to response to exchange meeting invitation where jm5 doesn't. Thinking of flash it back jm1.

I managed to finally update the firmware from a non-stock JF3 rooted firmware, on a German phone with UK firmware, in South Africa!!!
I tried all kinds of things and could not get KIES to update to the new firmware, no matter what firmware etc I used. Here is what finally worked for me :
- Flash with JF3 from Samsung-firmwares if you are not running this already, does not matter if rooted.
- Start KIES without connecting the phone, open firmware upgrade and hold keys ctrl+alt+u+p to get it to go into test mode
- Connect the phone and viola, you can upgrade!
Note, this does not seem to work on the newest KIES version. I tried this on both my netbook (old KIES) and my pc (newest KIES) and only the old version worked. I am ugrading as I type.
Note this may not work on branded phones. I own an unlocked SGS

Another Asian firmware that runs nice. The build date 2010-09-08. Its branded with Taiwan Telecom Apps, just like ZUJP1.This firmware is that is read and write, this is the first september firmware i found that are. Try if you like
Download link:http://www.multiupload.com/FBLCZHQNYY

No. I saw the Froyo like rooting method inside (flashing back the original kernel etc.). This is a Froyo build.
Has anyone (else) tested it?
Honestly i am disapointed in voodoovkernel jm 8 plus lagfix plus OCLF 2 on top. Quadrant is skyrocketing, inside apps it eorks well, but everything else in beteeen takes much longer to load, lot of black screens inbeteeen apps. I am willing to try something new, or maybe i ll just get back to stock.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I suspect this is a branded or at least customised build off the release Froyo branch, which I suspect is the JPH / JP4 branch.
JPK is newer because it is a leak from the Froyo trunk.
My feeling is that what we're seeing now, and what will form the "official" releases, are optimised JPH /JP4 builds. They may be better / faster than JPK but as they're based on an earlier branch, their build dates won't be as new as JPK.

If they're not recompiling anything (keeping the build date same) then what exactly are they optimizing? They can't even recompile the kernel without build dates changing.
I think all they do is test and custom apps/branding. For now everything is speculation and guesswork.
I think I will wait for official Froyo or flash it out of boredom.
man firmware release had really dried up lately
Why would they waste anymore time on Eclair builds if Froyo is a soon to be release.
We should be glad they have switched tactics to concentrate on Froyo which could mean a definate release by months end.
Question is, will it be released in all countries at the same time or specific countries first.
So, has anyone tried it?
just flashed..
first impressions good..
1. booted up in chinese language
2.contacts showing all alphabets in the side search
3. quite fast like dxjp1
4. comes pre installed with some bloatwareapps like hamiapps, hami... hami.. dont know what these are..
5. seems to me as being very close to an official build.

its ok..not perfect..i went back to dxjp1..too much bloatware slowing up the phone..
anyone know if this uses hsupa?
This ROM seems to be de-odexed.
It starts in Chinese. You have to manually switch it to English.
Includes the Chinese keyboard.
If you don't want those carrier custom apps, just don't flash the CSC file. I didn't need to repartition (mine is the 803 pit) and it worked just flashing the PDA and MODEM sections.
TIP: When you are rooting, you don't have to "pull the battery out" after the first kernel flash. You can just press and hold the power button for around 20 seconds and the phone will shut down.
Hello people,
I just updated my Wave 525(S5253) with KIES 2.0 to firmware S5253DDKC1/S5253ODDKA1.
But after updating I am unable to use my camera. It gives "Camera failed" error.
Any help? Is this firmware buggy? If so why did Samsung release it, that too on KIES??
Anyone else tried updating to this firmware?
Thanks
Even I had got same problem in my wave s8500, I had ddjh1 and i tried flashing malaysian bada 1.2 which was not a full FW and my camera was messed up. after flashing xxjid i still had the same problem, so i went to phone's internal menu(*#197328460#>video>camera firmware>Phone/CAM ver check... it was SESBDF21:SESBDF21....... this is mostly similar to wave 525
Then after Flashing it was SESBDG01:SESBDF21 then i selected phone to CAM write
and CAM was updated to SESBDG01... then my camera came back to normal...( i found this in Badadev forum)
First reboot ur phone once then Try selecting option Phone to CAM write in case there is differance of CAM FW.. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!
If you have flashed FW unofficially try this, if through kies before doing above steps use ur warranty ......GO TO SERVICE CENTER!
Thanks jake for the quick reply. I tried the above steps, the menu layout was a little different, but yeah i found the right options...but it did not work..
As I had updated it via KIES.....so I am gonna use my warranty....

Hi. Dont jump on me for those questions but couldnt find anything here on xda nor google helped me.
So here it is.
Just bought my Note 8. GT-N5110. It has Android 4.1.2 and build version JZO54K.N5110XXBMD1. Not rooted
As I know 4.2.2 is available I wanted to update. But OTA says I am up to date.
I tried then Kies. I have all the drivers uptodate and Kies version uptodate as well. When I connect my Note it is recognized but it seems that Kies doesnt read everything what it should.
It doesnt show the firmware version at all.
When I am trying to check for firmware updates all I get is mssg:
GT-N5110 does not support initialising.
I also tried sammobile. But cuz I couldnt determine which version of Note 8 I have and didnt know which firmware to pick up and installed their apk.
It should check for me everything but I am getting only
Model GT-N5110
Product code. - nothing
PDA N5110XXBMD1
CSC N5110CCBMD1
Modem - nothing
After hitting GET LATEST receiving only mssg - No info foun for the provided firmware.
So my questions are:
- How can I determine is the firmware update available for my Note or not yet?
- How can I determine which version of Note do I have? I bought it on amazon.co.uk so I think it is European version but are there country specific version as well for WIFI only model?
- Which firmware should I download from sammobile to stay "legal" lets say. UK? Dont want to root at the moment.
Any help really appreciated.
cheers

Hi.
I have the same version. (Settings, System, About (or something like that at the bottom) and then in the buildnumber there is the version.
Mine is rooted so i can't do OTA and it doesn't find an update.
I guess since there isn't any 4.2.2 version on sammobile, there doesnt exist any yet for our build.
Greetings
Chris
Thanks for that.
Decided to root so wont worry anymore about OTA or KIES updates.

From this link you can get to know about the latest available firmware for your device Model & Product Code. See image 1.
And this link will give you info about all the firmware released for the same. See image 2.
Is the tablet you bought is a used one? Because if it is brand new, then the PDA should be N5110XXBMC9, which is the first release. Also missing Product code can mean something very wrong.

Hi all
i am a beginner here and i am trying to catch up
to the point
i bought a new note 8.0 lte version from Sweden , it came with 4.1.2 out of the box
after setting it up i searched for updates but they tablet keep telling me no updates i know there is 4.2.2 and even 4.4.2
my tablet info after dialing *#1234# is
PDA: N5120XXBME1
CSC: N5120OXXBME2
MODEM: N5120XXBMD9 and i found this version is for nordic countries with code Nee
after searching sammobile i found this version
PDA: N5120XXDNE4
CSC: N5120OXXDNE1
MODEM: N5120XXDNE4
also with product code NEE
so my questions
1- is it ok to flash this room on mine ?
2- i read that i can even flash any - note 8 .0 LTE kitkat room - if i keep my moden info from the original room
is that true ??
3-i read also due to bootloader version if i updated to 4.4 i cannt revert back to my 4.1 is that true?
even if i had the original room of 4.1.2 * i downloaded it from sammobile
thanks

Does it tell you that the tablet has been changed or that there are no updates? If it is the first one, its probably because its rooted. If it is the later one i dont really know what could cause it, might be a branded tablet or something. Never been without Root so i have never done OTA updates on the Note8
1. It should be completely OK to flash that ROM
2. I have flashed several ROMs and kept the modem files and it works fine, tho with the ROM you are about to use you can flash it all without any problem as it is made for nordic countries
3. I have read the same, I have not tried to go back from 4.4 so i can not say if it is possible or not. But i am sure there are loads of threads about reverting and the KitKat bootloader.
4. Welcome to a really sweet tablet, tho there are not many custom ROMS developed for it, but those that are, are working really well
Thanks my savor for the answer
about my no update thing , if i checked for updates i got
"The latest updates have already been installed "
it was a crazy offer from Elgiganten nearly 50% off price i got it for 1990 sek although due to web error on elgiganten site i managed to buy it Electroword
so this not branded ?
and about bootloader thing , as i read we cannt replace it back , we can flashi4.1 or 4.2 with odin but still the bootloader will be 4.4 and many have issues with this combo
i read that 4.4 cause some problem for some users like spen 2mm off etc so i like to have to the option to completely downgrade or at least i will update to 4.2
what do you think
by the way did the Nordic version got 4.2 update ? i cannt find it on sammobile
and again thank you very much

I dont think we got 4.2 at all, i used Civatos ROM during 4.2 and now i use rooted stock and i have no problems at all actually. S Note might be a little bit more sluggish to write in than before but nothing major anyways.
I have also read about the 2mm off center Spen, i had that in 4.1, and then it was more or less than 2mm depending on where on the screen i pointed.
I it were up to me, i would upgrade, but if you want to be able to revert back to 4.1 that would be a problem. Maybe try a custom ROM first? But that would mean breaking warranty and if something happens you will have all the hassle of returning it to stock with no trace of custom ROMs I have done this three times so i know how frustrating it is,
The problem i had then with my Note8 was that the Spen would not register on a 2-3cm wide strio on the upper part of the screen. I think this was because i used a magnetic case (non OEM). and the two times following it was the service station that messed things up so that i had to revoke the purchase and get a new Note8 So i would suggest that if you want to protect your Note you should get a good backcover and then buy a tempered glass screenprotector from ebay. I work at a wire rod mill and i have the note with me everywhere and it doesnt have a scratch on it (plus it fits in the breastpocket of my flameproof jacket). I do not work directly in the production line but i am at the factory floor more than half my workday
A little sidetrack from the ROM-talk but i thought i should give my 2 cents on the Note, now i have to sleep... even tho we get a "free hour" I dont want to be a wreck in the morning
Thanks again and again
and i think i will try a custom first as you suggested , i read that i can have 4.4 room based on 4.1 bootloader
so i can check 4.4
and thanks about the case and protector advice , my main use for the tablet is in home so fro now i got a samsung book cover for it it is not the powerful protection but i liked that it is thin .
i was afraid of magnetic cases -non oem - as they have strong magnet so i bought the oem
have a nice dreams and for me it is custom room searching time

So I think that it won't work.

It is v4 and it worked just fine without triggering the knox.. Did a smart switch & samsung account backup before I downgrade at the version I mentioned (latest before UI 2.5 that is) and everything works just fine. I already feel the difference in battery life.. /sigh
Will probably stay here until UI 3.0 if I don't see any other important feature added. Only some camera features I'll miss but battery is the most important thing and I'm not willing to sacrifice an hour or two of SoT for UI 2.5
Thanks all for your help

Will probably stay here until UI 3.0 if I don't see any other important feature added. Only some camera features I'll miss but battery is the most important thing and I'm not willing to sacrifice an hour or two of SoT for UI 2.5
Thanks all for your help

I used G988BXXS4ATGB/G988BOXM4ATGB (EUR for GR) with security patch 2020-08-01 as I previously mentioned and it didn't stuck at anything.. Passed w/o triggering the knox of course and works like a charm.
Already feel the difference in battery life as I mentioned. Used the standard flash procedure I changed nothing
