Hi. Dont jump on me for those questions but couldnt find anything here on xda nor google helped me.
So here it is.
Just bought my Note 8. GT-N5110. It has Android 4.1.2 and build version JZO54K.N5110XXBMD1. Not rooted
As I know 4.2.2 is available I wanted to update. But OTA says I am up to date.
I tried then Kies. I have all the drivers uptodate and Kies version uptodate as well. When I connect my Note it is recognized but it seems that Kies doesnt read everything what it should.
It doesnt show the firmware version at all.
When I am trying to check for firmware updates all I get is mssg:
GT-N5110 does not support initialising.
I also tried sammobile. But cuz I couldnt determine which version of Note 8 I have and didnt know which firmware to pick up and installed their apk.
It should check for me everything but I am getting only
Model GT-N5110
Product code. - nothing
PDA N5110XXBMD1
CSC N5110CCBMD1
Modem - nothing
After hitting GET LATEST receiving only mssg - No info foun for the provided firmware.
So my questions are:
- How can I determine is the firmware update available for my Note or not yet?
- How can I determine which version of Note do I have? I bought it on amazon.co.uk so I think it is European version but are there country specific version as well for WIFI only model?
- Which firmware should I download from sammobile to stay "legal" lets say. UK? Dont want to root at the moment.
Any help really appreciated.
cheers

Hi.
I have the same version. (Settings, System, About (or something like that at the bottom) and then in the buildnumber there is the version.
Mine is rooted so i can't do OTA and it doesn't find an update.
I guess since there isn't any 4.2.2 version on sammobile, there doesnt exist any yet for our build.
Greetings
Chris
Thanks for that.
Decided to root so wont worry anymore about OTA or KIES updates.

From this link you can get to know about the latest available firmware for your device Model & Product Code. See image 1.
And this link will give you info about all the firmware released for the same. See image 2.
Is the tablet you bought is a used one? Because if it is brand new, then the PDA should be N5110XXBMC9, which is the first release. Also missing Product code can mean something very wrong.

Hi,
I purchased Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 from US. Now I am in India and my friends have updated their S2 to ICS but whenever I am conecting my phone via Kies it says that latest software is installed on my phone.
Details are:
PDA: I9100UHKI2
Phone: I9100UHKI1
CSC: I9100UUBKI2
Android Version - 2.3.4
Build Number - GINGERBREAD.UHKI2
Please senior member help me.
I don't want to root my phone.
Thanks in advance.
Flash new firmware via Odin.
did you check the SGS2 forum? I just quickly checked there and it seems like there is alot of stuff going on there. I would check out that board first of all. If it is available that is where you will find the odin package for stock ICS and if you dont already know it is basically the same thing as using kies. If you find a stock package that is. Or you can also do other things too. And if it is not available I would post this question in that board where people know that specific device. Good luck
I non Kies, nor your phone says there is a new version, it may not be officially available on your phone network/location/phone type.
Could be available in a few weeks.
You can alternatively fresh the rom via Odin, but I haven't found a good rom for that so far.
I have s2, and I regret that I upgraded to this new 4.03. I'm experiencing random crashes since (I'm wondering they put the new "restart phone" option to the menu for this reason? D), and the battery time is much worse.

Please let me know from where I can get the odin package for stock ICS
Stock ROM u can find here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
Register there, then write in search box "i9100", choose ROM for your region/country, download and flash into phone with ODIN.
FAQ how to do this u can find in SGS2 section on this forum.

i am a beginner here and i am trying to catch up
to the point
i bought a new note 8.0 lte version from Sweden , it came with 4.1.2 out of the box
after setting it up i searched for updates but they tablet keep telling me no updates i know there is 4.2.2 and even 4.4.2
my tablet info after dialing *#1234# is
PDA: N5120XXBME1
CSC: N5120OXXBME2
MODEM: N5120XXBMD9 and i found this version is for nordic countries with code Nee
after searching sammobile i found this version
PDA: N5120XXDNE4
CSC: N5120OXXDNE1
MODEM: N5120XXDNE4
also with product code NEE
so my questions
1- is it ok to flash this room on mine ?
2- i read that i can even flash any - note 8 .0 LTE kitkat room - if i keep my moden info from the original room
is that true ??
3-i read also due to bootloader version if i updated to 4.4 i cannt revert back to my 4.1 is that true?

Does it tell you that the tablet has been changed or that there are no updates? If it is the first one, its probably because its rooted. If it is the later one i dont really know what could cause it, might be a branded tablet or something. Never been without Root so i have never done OTA updates on the Note8
1. It should be completely OK to flash that ROM
2. I have flashed several ROMs and kept the modem files and it works fine, tho with the ROM you are about to use you can flash it all without any problem as it is made for nordic countries
3. I have read the same, I have not tried to go back from 4.4 so i can not say if it is possible or not. But i am sure there are loads of threads about reverting and the KitKat bootloader.
4. Welcome to a really sweet tablet, tho there are not many custom ROMS developed for it, but those that are, are working really well
Thanks my savor for the answer
about my no update thing , if i checked for updates i got
"The latest updates have already been installed "
it was a crazy offer from Elgiganten nearly 50% off price i got it for 1990 sek although due to web error on elgiganten site i managed to buy it Electroword
so this not branded ?
and about bootloader thing , as i read we cannt replace it back , we can flashi4.1 or 4.2 with odin but still the bootloader will be 4.4 and many have issues with this combo
i read that 4.4 cause some problem for some users like spen 2mm off etc so i like to have to the option to completely downgrade or at least i will update to 4.2
what do you think
by the way did the Nordic version got 4.2 update ? i cannt find it on sammobile
and again thank you very much

I dont think we got 4.2 at all, i used Civatos ROM during 4.2 and now i use rooted stock and i have no problems at all actually. S Note might be a little bit more sluggish to write in than before but nothing major anyways.
I have also read about the 2mm off center Spen, i had that in 4.1, and then it was more or less than 2mm depending on where on the screen i pointed.
I it were up to me, i would upgrade, but if you want to be able to revert back to 4.1 that would be a problem. Maybe try a custom ROM first? But that would mean breaking warranty and if something happens you will have all the hassle of returning it to stock with no trace of custom ROMs I have done this three times so i know how frustrating it is,
The problem i had then with my Note8 was that the Spen would not register on a 2-3cm wide strio on the upper part of the screen. I think this was because i used a magnetic case (non OEM). and the two times following it was the service station that messed things up so that i had to revoke the purchase and get a new Note8 So i would suggest that if you want to protect your Note you should get a good backcover and then buy a tempered glass screenprotector from ebay. I work at a wire rod mill and i have the note with me everywhere and it doesnt have a scratch on it (plus it fits in the breastpocket of my flameproof jacket). I do not work directly in the production line but i am at the factory floor more than half my workday
A little sidetrack from the ROM-talk but i thought i should give my 2 cents on the Note, now i have to sleep... even tho we get a "free hour" I dont want to be a wreck in the morning
Thanks again and again
and i think i will try a custom first as you suggested , i read that i can have 4.4 room based on 4.1 bootloader
so i can check 4.4
and thanks about the case and protector advice , my main use for the tablet is in home so fro now i got a samsung book cover for it it is not the powerful protection but i liked that it is thin .
i was afraid of magnetic cases -non oem - as they have strong magnet so i bought the oem
have a nice dreams and for me it is custom room searching time

If you want official 4.4.2 install Samsung KIES (download), and plugin a cable between PC and tablet, then install the update through Samsung Kies,

Yes it's possible but we need to flash on top our (tmobile) kernel.
I also can't find our tmobile frimeware tar (for odin in case of bootloop)
Damn....booooooring
Hmm I'm downloading the TMO firmware from SamsungUpdate to start, but it's gonna take another 6 hours because of their metered connection -_-.
We'll see how that works out, but ideally I'd be 100% debloated and rooted with Samsung Pay working.
Don't think that'll be possible, but at least we're dealing with unlocked bootloader devices haha

any lucks for the SM-G928C ?
My edge plus is already on 5.1.1 - why the desire to download the same version of firmware from another country? Maybe I'm missing something...
That's not new
Guys, the phone is running great!
Updating for the sake of updating isn't always a good thing when out of the box it's actually working well!
When a device has problems there are threads everywhere of complaints. When a device works things are quiet usually with just the usual how to question. Of course everyone wants root, when it comes it comes. Be patient!

I do not believe you have to do anything.
While yes, both are version 5.1.1, if you look at the last 4 digits of your firmware build number you should see AOGD. The new firmware build number ends in AOH2, showing this is a newer build date. Nothing major, probably just a few under the hood changes, which usually means a liitle better performance.

what about the root-ability?
If you are rooted on an older firmware, and you flash a stock rom via Odin you will lose your root access. So long as your phone model can be/is rooted on your current firmware, after you flash the newer firmware just follow the same steps to root your phone again.

any differences between the OS Firmware, Build Number, or Baseband?
The only place I found this firmware on was on paysites, and I'm not willing to pay god knows how much because I wanted to restore my phone to stock especially when I can flash a custom ROM for the time being, and please don't throw me to firmware.center, because I have checked and they don't have the firmware I need, and I guess I was fooled by a thread for the OTAs of NPPS25.137-93-2-5 (not hating on the guy who posted this, it was my fault). I tried searching for the firmware by its filename, and I couldn't find it on a website that didn't want some money out of me.

The only thing I could find was the OTA update
You would need to flash the previous firmware if its available and then OTA update to the latest version

I guess there is no difference except other than an extra letter, or that your phone is blacklisted from updates, I don't really know

Hi everyone hope you're doing excellent I bought a note 10 plus on november last year suddenly I stopped receiving OTA updates this have at&t logos but its unlocked already I work at an airline and I'm not using at&t sim card since I bought the phone and even with my country's sim card I received ota updates.
I was wondering if its possible to flash it to android 10 currently the phone is running android 9 but when I connect it to the pc smart switch says phone is up to date, same happens when I verify software updates from the phone.
Baseband version: N975USQU1ASGO
My questions are:
- Can I flash the phone using any of the android 10 firmwares in the forum? or do I have to make sure it will be compatible with some specific versions?
- If I flash the phone it will it still be unlocked?
thank you.
Don't know.
I would leave it on Pie; stable, fast and well behaved.
Scope storage and the trouble it may cause hasn't been dragged out into the sunlight yet... plus the older apks it probably will break that have no replacement.
If you do load Q let us know what you think.

Possible, yes ... if it's desirable only you can determine after acknowledging de pros and cons of the upgrade. As @blackhawk pointed out, there are some caveats to be considered. Nevertheless please be advised that this is your decision and none here can be responsible for mistakes or misfortunes that may occur. It's all on you.

If these are real issues, I would suggest tackling them with the upgrade and if not solved, even downgrade back.

The above question has more than an answer:
a) The firmwares available in the forum are for rooted devices so the answer is NO. None firmware available here is fitted for you present setup (the "but" comes later)
b) Yep ... you have to keep compatibility of your hardware with the firmware you flash. Your devide is a N975U so you shall restrict only for the respective family.
And now comes the "but" ...
The firmwares in the below list shall fit your hardware. They are official Samsung releases for the hardware you've mentioned.
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/SM-N975U/USC/
The above list was filtered only with USA (No carrier) options because, as you've said, it's unlocked.
The complete list is @ https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/#SM-N975U and it contains the carrier locked ones too.
You will have to search and read about "flashing with odin". To speed up the download use Samfirm after reading some howtos about it too ... https://samfirmtool.com/
