My PRL is 60668. When I click update PRL or update Profile, it says "Checking for PRL/Profile update", then says "PRL/Profile could not be updated. Please try again later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Customer Service. Error code:1012". This happened to me a couple of ROMs ago, any suggestions as to what this is about?
bump????????????

Through research all I can see is the hard reset route, and CDMA workshop. It just seems like no one cares honestly
I've done at least 5 hard resets today and nothing. It just keeps saying "searching for network" I really didn't want to waste my entire day doing this. ugh. I know it must be somewhere in the settings, but Sprint peeps don't seem to have a clue either.

No it's not somewhere in the settings, that's the problem. You went to settings, system upgrade, then update prl and got the same error as me right?
If you have another phone, go online and switch over to it, then switch back, and it will be fixed. That or sprint themselves have some other option. The only way to fix it yourself is pretty complicated
We did all of that. The Sprint rep switched phones and everything and still nothing. It's just not finding the network. LAME!!!

UPDATE!!!! I thought wth I'll give Sprint another call and see if I can get a different advanced tech that might have some more ideas and get me back up and running. Well after about 2 minutes she asks for my ESN number to validate and well......IT WAS INCORRECT! She updated it to the correct one and voile it works now! My suggestion is to call them and verify that they have the correct ESN. Good luck.
There have been issues with CDMA activation/provisioning all day today. This would include data profile issues and possible PRL updates as well. Try again this weekend.

I will, thanks for the update, and glad your problem was fixed. This seems like a possible problem, considering all of the trouble I had switching the lines over, along with selling my old phone, activating old phone, then dummy phone, then evo, then switched evo.. I'll look into it.

Ha bro this issue has been happening for a long time, check the dates
I'm having this same problem. Just did my first root and installed Fresh Evo 3.1.0.1, with the recommended newest radio/wimax. Everything but the phone works great. I can still dial and receive calls at my normal number, showing good reception, but there is tons of hiss and my voice almost never makes it to the other phone.
Tried to Update Profile and Update PRL, and both gave me Error 1012. Sprint's website is down right now (4 AM Sunday morning), so maybe the network is simply not currently serving updates.
However, if it's something that can be fixed, I'd be grateful if anyone has an idea.
I could be wrong but if i recall error 1012 is a Sprint data/vision username/password error and is correctable with a call to tier 2 tech support.
I cant remember for certain tho, But I believe thats what that is, I know i've seen it quite a few times before.
Im now having this issue. What has been the cause for most of you? If you found out.

I have an Evo on Boost now for 2 months rooted with no problems at all. I change roms all the time, update kernels, put themes and never any problems. Yesterday there was a post to update the pri to version 1.40.
I did it and it said something about resetting the phone. It shut down and ever since then I have no 3g at all. The only way I can surf the net or go to the market place is through my wireless internet in my home. I can send/receive texts/mms/phone calls but no internet.
Also, it constantly come up with an error 67 data call failed.
Thanks guys in advance
You could try updating profile under settings and system update.. let me know if this worked.. my 3g wasnt working went to sprint and did the update and is back on..

this will reset ALL data profile information on your phone. it will then reboot and reload all said information by re-provisioning your phone.
if you do not know your msl, call sprint tech support and ask nicely for it. they will usually give it to you. if not, hang up and call back. or just tell them you have no data and want to re-provision your phone and they will walk you through what i just did.
as a side note, sometimes this error pops up, for no good reason and goes away after a while. my guess is in your situation this isn't the case. you had a hiccup that's easily fixed.

Thank you for trying to help I really do appreciate it, but I don't have a sprint account I am on Boost Mobile and have been for 2 months now without any issues but this one
Could be a PRL problem? I don't know anything about getting an EVO on Boost, but I assume part of the process was downloading a PRL for Boost to connect to their towers?
Go back to the guide you followed and redo the steps.

What exactly will work on my phone?? and what should I do in CDMA Workshop? I have the program and I do know my MSL, so if you can explain what I should do to get back my data connection that would be great!
I tried to update the PRI and wiped my data profile for boost mobile and now without wifi on, I get error 67 data call failed
By the way, Thank you for trying to help, you guys are the best
No offense, but it really should not be that difficult if you set this up before!! I assume that you in fact did not set your EVO up on Boost, but gave it to someone else to set up, correct?
Simply refer to the original guide, or steps you took yourself to set the phone up on Boost in the first place - or give it back to the person that did it and let them fix it.

Hey Nukedukem,
No offense taken, however you might want to check your panties to see if you're getting your period. I thought this was a forum for people to help other people "do it themselves". If I, and everyone else did what you suggested, you'd be outside sitting on the curb with nothing to do. So if you have nothing nice to suggest, then I suggest you pass over my post and go "not help" someone else. Thanks
To everyone else: yes the guy that first did my phone is no longer to be found so if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. Also, if a programmer can help I'm more than willing to donate.
Thanks again guys
The error 67 I think may be caused by the network rejecting your phones credentials, I had this same problem last night. The only way I could fix it was to restore a nandroid backup and then have it update my profile and PRL. You may be able to get away with just restoring the backup though, trying to update anything is most likely not a good idea since you are using a network other then what the software was written for.

Oh, and uh...try not to choke on my menorrhagia.
That method did work MONTHS ago but not now that SPRINT changed up their website your not allowed to do esn swaps anymore. I was able to do it months ago with my touch pro2 and i have an EVO now and just tried to reprogram my phone cause i had the msl code and input my boost number and msid like i did before with the touch pro2. It reseted but when i went to make a call it said account cannot be validated so had to get sprint service again. Soon as someone comes out with a VALID way of getting the EVO working on boost Im going back to them.

it's because you have a sprint 1.4 pri and need a modified boost pri...until that is changed, no 3g for you, but seriously, there is an app that gives you your MSL code
I'm having a serious issue with roaming I live in central florida and in some areas the sprint service suck. I'm currently running the latest fresh rom as well as the latest klick kernel I have tried also stock kernel same thing. Currently have flashed pri 1.77 and I also had pri 1.43 and the same problem happened. When ever I try to make a call and if I'm in an area where there is no signal and I have to roam. Usually it is verizon towers when I call it says that you for calling verizon we are sorry we cannot authenticate your phone please call verizon customer service. If I try to call again several times it will actually xfer me over to an operator for verizon and ask me if I'm placing an international call. So I can not roam onany network because my phone can not be authenticated has anybody had this issue. Thank you please any help or adivse I would greatly apperciate thank you

If u are on a sense rom, try updating your profile. If that still doesn't work, you will have to call sprint. Tell them exactly what's going on and they will fix it on their end thru the phone. You might have to call several times before u talk to a sprint rep that knows what they are doing. When I had this problem, the first rep told me to go to a sprint store. I hung up and called again and the second rep was able to fix

Call up Sprint, ask to speak with EVO Technical Support, tell them that you are getting an error message from Verizon saying they can't authenticate your device whenever you make a call on roaming, that you can't connect data, that you've updated your PRI, PRL, Profile, and checked software updates. They'll have to update some stuff on your end, and probably ask you to do a Factory Reset as well (so make sure to backup your stuff first!).
Took me less than five minutes to get everything sorted out.
Awesome thank you guess much I was talking To at lady sprint tech department she had me make sure I was using the correct msid number. Then she told me if that didn't work she gave the the # code to do a complete reset including programming reset as well. Going to try that tonight thank you. Anybody have a solution for the Bluetooth connecting then disconnecting all the time thanx.

ask Sprint support to help you reset your MSID... did that on mine and everything worked great!
This problem is killing me. I just rooted the evo to be able to tether at work to my personal computer but now (after root) I'm getting that Verizon message about can't authenticate the phone.
Anyone have more about this? I've searched the hell out of Google and nothing seems to be acurate to my problem.

How are you trying to tether? Wired or wireless? And if you are doing a wired tether, using that usb pop up, and choosing internet connection sharing, you get a pop up error...
not our problem that we were having. For that to work, you need to pay sprint for it or use calkuins mod in the development forum.
... Or use wireless tether found in the market
Ours was when roaming on verizons towers, we couldn't make a call or use data. Resetting the msid fixes that.
I forgot to say that I was trying to tether via wifi and while using data roaming. Well, after countless hours reading hundreds of threads I found this and worked for me. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769966&highlight=force+roaming. (sorry can't post links)
In short- call Sprint (number in the linked thread) tell them about your roaming message problem. Tell them that you read in the forums that the best known fix for this is to "refresh my phone on your (Sprint) end". Tell them that they do something there that you need to remove the battery of your phone and reinstall.
This will most likely fix your problem. >> You'll need to be on roaming I tried without roaming ( while on Sprint network) and didn't work.
By any circumstances let them to get you into hard reset, soft reset, we don't do this, i don't know, we'll exchange your phone, etc... You might have to update your PRL.
I got it fixed in the 3rd attempt.
The first one - a female tech wanted me to do a hard reset and got really upset because I was "telling her what to do" (she got pissed). >> If this happens be polite and hang up with the person and call again. no results? Repeat...
The second - a guy was very helpful and understood what I wanted. He did it but I couldn't get the phone on roaming (couldn't find the darn "roam control" widget to force roaming) so it didn't fix it.
The third - another nice guy after explaining him what the second guy did and the no roaming message situation (do not mention the root or force roaming) he told me to remove the battery - did his thing- installed the battery and while on roaming placed a call and IT WORKED.
I recommend you to read the thread from the posted link for more info. Hope this helps. I spent all day trying to fix this from start to finish. It should take you 20 min from this point to get the thing fixed.

Essentially the same as resetting your msid dude. You coulda saved some time by just calling sprint and telling them the answer you already got here.
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I'm having problems with my Evo running CM7. I can't send any text messages (they fail every time) and when I try and make a phone call, a voice comes up saying "Your authentication code could not be verified." I flashed over to the Fresh rom and updated my PRL and profile and rebooted the phone and still, get the exact same message. I'm not roaming because it's happening in my current town.
Does anyone have the slightest idea on what could fix this?
Thanks!
You should give Sprint a call on this one. Sounds like something on their end.

Happens all the time, lol. If I know they can do it and they won't/can't, I usually just call back.
not sure where to begin, i suppose by listing my phone specs after root--
using the galaxy s2, (epic 4g touch) using kernal 2.6.35-8lostkernelexp+, build number starburst 11.13.11 v1.9.8r and running nothing but the honey theme.
i rooted the phone about a week ago and until today, everything seemed to work fine, then suddenly, i was unable to send pictures via text. not a real big issue, but i travel alot and sending pics back home by messages i a big deal for me. i thought it was just somethin with the phone, and after rebooting and rebooting to see if it would correct, it did not. however, normal text's would go through, just not any pics. i could send and receive normal words with no issues.
then just today, i totally lost internet connection--although the 3g is lit up on top, and i have 4 full bars of signal, i cannot surf, all i get is "unable to display webpage". since im at home, i turned on the wifi option and connected through the router in my house, and all worked fine-- i got online, send pic texts, etc...but when i turned wifi off, nothing.
now, back when i rooted the phone, i still kept getting the annoying "system update" messages that the phone normally does, forcing me to install whatever update the phone grabs. to prevent that, i did the steps on this site which was here--
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388778&highlight=freeze+ota
and disabled my update notifications. well, back to the beginning--now i have no internet at all and god only knows what else is wrong that i have yet to discover.
only thing i can think of at this point, is to unroot the phone , return it to the way it was and see how it goes but i dont want to do that--
any ideas?

Why not nandroid a backup of your current setup and then do a full factory reset wipe and ODIN over a stock rom and see if that fixes it...if it does then there is no reason to bring a perfectly good phone back.
Diagnostic process bro, get on it.
However if that doesn't yield any results? Might be bad hardware (which I doubt) and probably not your fault.
EDIT: You haven't changed your PRL by chance, have you? Sometimes on 11115 or 00001 I get intermittent MMS function...and a few times, legit PRL or not, my wifi/4g have just stopped working. A wipe and stock-restore took care of that every time...though that was a week or two after the phone came out and we didn't have nearly as many tools and options as we do now.
Also, are you sure that you haven't somehow disabled 3G or put it into airplane mode? As insulting as that sounds I have to ask....
...sometimes even the brightest of us forget to plug things in.
Odin restore would be the first step.
I would try ##72786# in the dialer then entering your msl. After that just just hut yes then let your phone do its thing and reboot and reactivate. Just remember to cancel it during the firmware check.

Good call...or even just trying to refresh your profile under 'updates' would be the easiest place to start...
The mms issues are likely a limitation of the ROM you are running (I haven't run Starburst in a couple of months so you'll have to ask about that in the ROM thread.) Easily resolved by using a third party app for mms if it is an important feature for you.
As far as the rest, the code provided by beejis is the reprovisioning code, also called a hands free reset and there is a bit more to the process than he stated (at least for a noob.) Hit the toolkit link in my signature and you'll find step by step instructions.
If that doesn't work, starting fresh is an incredibly simple process.
Also, posting the exact same question in two different forums is breaking a Cardinal rule, so you probably want to refrain from that, it won't win you many friends.

If you have titanium backup, go into that app then click backup/restore at the top. Find system updates and click on it to see if it's frozen, if it is defrost it. Then try my steps again. Other than that I'd try to Odin a stock ROM.

ok thanks, i went back to odin stock rom, did it from qbking77's post and the phone is back on stock...however............still no internet/data!!
i did do the ##number thing, the phone rebooted but notihng happened--i thought it was supposed to auto activate or something. so i went into settings/about phone/update profile....it scanned and after a few mins, i still get the error message "update could not be completed, if problem persists contact sprint customer support"
so im back on factory rom, but nothings changed---im where i was before--no data/internet....
before installing a different rom and such, i figure ill stop here and see what other suggestions may come about....sooooo, what next?

gee i hope not... i got the phone dec 14th, cant imagine having probs this early....
what if i did a total wipe, factory reset? i know ill loose everything on the phone, and now that its not rooted any longer, i have no way to back up anything (or at least not that i know of)
just hoping theres a better fix than a return/ factory reset
Now that you are stock, call sprint tell them your issue (only tell then internet doesn't work) and they'll do stuff on their end to trouble shoot it. Hopefully that will fix it.

That sucks, I'd recommend taking the phone to Sprint/where you bought it, and get it replaced/fixed. Good news is you're now back on stock so they won't really look into rooting as a problem. I always put phones back to stock before I take it in for a claim.

yea, dunno...
i did call sprint per Beejis reply here just above yours. after going through a ton of crap that i did yesterday and all today, the ## number crap, they tell me there's a nationwide outage. now i find that hard to believe since both my other phones in the house, wife/kid work just fine and they have data/internet and other ppl i know have no problems....i told the tech person that it just must be my phone only cuz everyone else's seems to work.
she did give me an outage number, maybe someone on here can verify it -- 8622911 so who the heck knows. what i do know is, i sure spent a heck of alota time on here, resetting my phone, unrooting, blahh blahh just to find out there's an outage which i doubt in the first place ...
we'll see,,,,,
If you are now stock/rooted, sounds like you need to use sfhubs auto root script to go back to stock recovery (overwrite your custom recovery) unroot, and take it back to Sprint.

its just stock odin at this point, as if it came from the store.
also, still no data/internet as of this morning. dont know why sprint
is telling me this bs story of an outage, and even if so, i find it way hard to beleive its a 4 day outage
but yes, looks like im headed back to the store-- i got it at best buy, have insurance and all that, but ill wait till tomorrow or something just in case this phantom outage corrects itself
by the way, where do i find this sfhubs root your talking about?
oh one other thing i discovered today also, now gps dont work either, no location, no search no nothing and it is turned on......... sigh
For the past 3 weeks, I've been unable to update PRL or profile . I keep getting "Network error. Please try again later." I've tried several times a day, every day in various locations.
Basically this error prevents me from using the Hotspot mod. Any ideas?

Try a ##scrtn#
This will not wipe anything on your phone. It will simply reset your mobile network connection and force OTA provisioning.
By chance are you running AdBlock Plus? As it will block those from updateing.

Ok, tried this, but then my phone wouldn't activate; kept saying "Network error" when it tried hands free activation. Then, I couldn't call using the phone anymore. However, Going to settings-->activate device fixed it. But I still can't update PRL or profile.

Nope, I wish it was that easy
If you have another device laying around, try going onto Sprint.com and do a service swap to it. Then service swap back to this one. If you do not have one, you might need to call Customer Care to have them try it with a dummy device.
I recall having an issue similar to this on my wife's device. I don't remember exactly what I had to do to resolve it, but I did get it fixed.
Update in case anyone had the same problem. I called Sprint and got the run around until they finally said it was a hardware issue (ie: my phone) and not a network problem.
I decided to just live with it (and without WiFi hotspot) for a while. Then magically it started working again a couple of days ago. I bet it has something to do with the Sprint network being worked on that the techs were just clueless about. Seems to me that Sprint takes its sweet old time upgrading its towers.

Network Error, Please Try Again Later
I have had that issue for sometime now too. I only discovered it because my phone downloaded the ZVD update and for it to install properly it requires to update the profile first. I have the same "network error, please try again later" on both PRL and Profile. Spent about an hour with a higher level tech on the phone trying all types of things with no success. When I install the ZVD update it breaks the phone and wont receive calls and requires a push from sprint to reactivate. Every time I reboot now It attempts to do a hands free activation and fails but it is working. Last time this happened (ZVC update) I had to wipe the phone to fix it which I'm not in the mood for anytime soon. I've been waiting for a decent ROM with WiFi calling built in.
Rooted on stock ZVC

Yeah, old thread but thanks as this just helped me out. This is for my LG G4 by the way.
Thanks.
This is a common problem with Sprint. It's not your fault or the phone's fault. It's Sprint's rat butt network acting out. There's nothing that you, the techs you call (even if you get lucky and get a U.S.-based representative), or anybody else can do. The phone will keep trying to activate itself every few minutes until it finally does get through. Then you're set to go, except of course for the dropped calls, missed or delayed text messages, and 500k data speeds (on their alleged LTE network). That's assuming that one of the Sprint bloatware apps doesn't decide to freeze/soft-brick your phone.
There's a reason that Sprint is virtually giving away their services (i.e. the half-off your previous bill, free activation, and pay the early termination fee for the other carrier). They're Number 4 of the 4 major carriers, and that's not likely to change in the near future, because most of the MVNO's latch onto Sprint, which further burdens the resources they do have.
couldn't have said it better myself...then I keep asking myself why am I still with sprint!
THANK YOU! It was Adblock causing the error. Took me some time to find this answer.
