Hi everybody,
first I want to thanks to all xda members for there hard work.
I read many many threads on this forum trying to fix the problem I have on my desire, but didn't succed with anything........ very sad
here is my situation:
- I get stuck on HCT logo on white screen. I can acces fastboot, my pc recognize the phone with fastboot devices but I can't acces recovery, when I get to hboot than select recovery and press power button I get stuck on htc logo, nothing
I tried Paul's r6 root guide, done succesfully step1 with a gold card, with no error everything working well, but than when I get in fastboot and tried to acces recovery the same thing I get stuck on HTC logo screen and stuck there.
I bought the phone in these situation from a guy that has no history on it. Is from UK orange branded.
When I bought, it i had 0.75 Hboot and after run "RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe"
I got 0.80 Hboot.
So everything I tried I can't pass over HTC logo screen.
The strangest thing is that the volume down button seems not to work: when phone is off pressing volume down and power got me in HTC logo screen, and also when in Hboot only volume up work while volume down do nothing - what could it be?
So please if anyone know or have any ideea what should I tried to make my desire usable.
The HTC logo screen drive me crazy..
many many thanks
make sure your ROM is ready on the SD card for flashing and try getting into FastBoot,,, using back button + Power, and see if you can use the controls to get into recovery,,, its worth a shot
thanks for your replay, I can get in fastboot, but the problem is with the recovery, it doesn't work at all. From fastboot I go on the hboot and than move with volume up button (volume down button as I said do nothing - the strange situation) to the to line with recovery and when I press power button there is no recovery just get the HTC logo screen (not the triangle from recovery or any other recovery).
anothe rhing to mention that I also tried to load the PB99IMG.zip with Hboot everything works ok but after finishig install just got HTC logo screen........
you have a rooted Desire right??
Give it a re-rooting and flash with a brand spanking new ROM follow the instructions here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
I know that - but just doesn't work for me.
I can only acces fastboot and hboot - nothing else, but I tried r6 from Paul roting procedure step1 but can't get in OS of the phone - get stoc on that Logo.
possible a brick
I read the thread about usb-brick-unbrick but I can't do anything cause I can't get in the OS of the phone to lunch the emulator.
I bought the phone in these situation from a guy that has no history on it.

Has the phone ever worked since you bought it?
No, it never worked, from the begging it gets stuck on HTC logo screen, and never succed to pass with everything I tried.........
I am in the exact same problem. Can't access recovery, only Hboot i can access.
Phoneing orange tomorow to get my phone replaced.
I have tried everywhere to find a solution to this problem. Google searched many hours revealved that there are quite a handful of people that has the same problem and no one was able to give them any strong help. People were told to run RUU rom, unbrick the usb or were just told their device is bricked.
I really want t rooted device so I tried and searched many hours and with trial and error, I rooted my device.
This short guide is meant for people that has the exact same problem.
Hope it will help at least one person!
The problem was the phone getting stuck at the HTC logo before when trying to get to the screen with a phone and a warning triangle( i.e just before recovery mode) on step 7 of the "Guide to root using Windows, MAC OS X and Linux" in the "[TUT]Complete upgrading guide(root, unroot, flashing ROM & updates) " guide.
Just to make sure you guys had the exact same problem I did, I originally had a bootloader 0.75 before doing any of the steps and after running step 1 in the r5 root files, it went to version 0.8.00
Steps:
1. Go find the guide posted by Paul. Can't post outside link here. Just google it.
2. Download the files for bootloader 0.8.00 which should be the r6 root files.
3. Now extract to your C drive on your pc like you did for the r5 root files. then with your desire on the fastloader screen, connect to pc via usb and in the r6 root files, run the step 1.
4. Now attempt to go to the screen with a phone and a warning triangle which you previously couldn't. you need to get to this screen to run your step 2 on the r5 root files.
You should now be at the recovery screen!!! YAAAA!!
Now just follow the rest of "[TUT]Complete upgrading guide(root, unroot, flashing ROM & updates) " guide.
Hope it helps!! Any questions I would help out if I can!
...............
hi mate,
I have exactly your problem: can't acces recovery - htc logo screen appear
I tried everything and didn't work.
I tried as you said with Paul R6 first step and when I want to get into recovery the logo screen just appear
just can't find a solution to bring it back.............
Not sure how it applies to this, but I had the same problem. But I cleared the dalvik cache and the user data area using the recovery menu. Then it booted fine into my custom ROM.

Which bootloader version you on now?
I am still only an noob in rooting but it worked for me... let me think what else I did...
Another question, are you on Orange as well? Starting to wonder if it's an Orange thing. Other people's root is pretty straight forward
Don't worry too much if it doesnt work out. The last resort is to do an RUU on the phone, I think. I don't think it's possible to brick an android phone.

The problem was that we couldn't even get into the recovery menu.
Not a problem with Orange users as mine was straight forward. Have you's tried this? Easier method of rooting.

does it still do the same if you try booting without your SD card in your phone?

If you are orange and now have hboot 0.8 then you must have the exact same condition I had.
Try connecting your phone to the pc again on the fastboot screen and try to run the "step1-windows" in the r6-desire-root-alt folder again.
Keep on trying!! Dont give up!!

# Navigate to the 'BOOTLOADER' and then 'RECOVERY' option on the menu, using the volume buttons to move and the power button to select.
# When a black screen appears with a red triangle, press and hold 'Volume Up' then tap 'Power'.
# Your device should now be at the 'recovery' screen. Select the 'wipe data/factory reset' option, then select the option to 'Apply sdcard:update.zip'. This will take a little while, so go make a nice cup of tea. When the flash has finished, reboot, and you are DONE! smile.gif

thanks mate, I know these steps, the problem is that when I press the power button (within the hboot menu on the line of recovery) didn't appear the black screen with exclamation mark, I just got in to the htc logo boot screen, nothing else !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flash Stock RUU and start again.

You tried it without the sd card before?
If it still doesnt work, like lollylost100 says, flash RUU while it's on the fast load screen.
Edit: **Solved**
Hey all,
I'm having issues.
(Semi-noob here -- everyone cringe)
I recently followed the wiki instructions on going through the SDK installation and rooting my G2 through installing the exploited firmware with the appropriate success indicators (# symbol, "md5sum #3 == md5sum #2 - the hboot image was successfully installed" message). I used ROM Manager to flash CWM (v. 5.0.2.7) and attempted to install the ICS Cyanogenmod ROM. It ran through the backup and moved to the installation of the zip. It seemed to be trucking along, but after a minute or so I looked over to check it and the screen was blank. I let it sit for several minutes, then pulled the battery and powered the device on. The HTC logo came on, but it's a blank screen afterward. I loaded the bootloader and went into recovery with no problems. However, when I select anything in CWM the menu disappears and I am left with a blank screen showing only the CWM/Rom Manager logo in the center of the screen. Any item I select results in a blank screen, so I can not install another ROM (unless there's a way through adb).
Can anyone help?
Other notes:
S-OFF
adb loads device
Thanks all.
You gotta use the trackpad or camera button in recovery, to select stuff. not the power button.

Thanks, Wow. If only I had known that. Now there is one hanging question, but I will direct it to the proper forum for this ROM.
Thanks again.
Hi everyone...
Complete ageing newbie here so please be gentle.
I've just been given a HTC Desire that can't seem to get past the boot screen.
By doing a bit of research, here's what I know about the phone. The bootloader has been unlocked and it's been rooted. It also has a ROM called MildWild installed I believe.
I have manged to access recovery mode and it says it is running ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
If I attempt to activate any of the options in recovery, i.e. 'wipe cache partition', I get taken to a screen showing half an orange circle wearing a top hat if that means anything to anyone.
It doesn't actually do anything else from this point and if I press the power button it just takes me back to the list of options to reboot, apply update from sdcard etc.
That's about as much as I can tell you I'm afraid and was wondering if anyone could help me to get the phone working again.
Many thanks in advance.
I
When using that recovery, press the middle button to select options not the power button.
If you are s-off, I recommend you flash 4EXT recovery touch via fastboot, it's better overall.
Use bortak's troubleshooting guide stickied to the top of q&a to get it booting again. You may simply need to full wipe and flash a new ROM. Check hboot and sdcard partition requirements foot each ROM first.
Hi guys, months ago i rooted my HTC 526G with Kingoroot. I later tried to update the software over wifi. It updated but in restarting its now stuck in boot screen and sometimes goes into recovery by itself. Is there a way I can revive the firmware? Any help appreciated
HTC Desire 526G
I have problem like this ....cant fix it
Warning/Disclaimer: This will erase everything you have on the phones internal memory. (if you have play store set up right, you can just log back in afterwards and it will pull all your data/apps back, however if you don't, make sure to backup any contacts, data, ect that may be on the phones storage before attempting this) (then again, if you were already trying to root, you should have had everything backed up already anyway )
Charge the device to at least 50% (or an hour or two at least if the battery was completely dead)
Hold the Volume Down Button, Press power button, keep holding the volume down button
Phone should boot into HBOOT or Download mode,
use the volume up and down buttons to highlight Recovery Mode
press power button to select Recovery Mode
Phone will reboot with a red triangle icon, press all three buttons at the SAME time (vol up, vol down, power)
use the volume up and down buttons to highlight Clear Data (Factory Reset) press power button to select, let it finish clearing /data/ and /cache/
Once this has completed, Pull the battery out, let it sit for like 30 seconds without the battery
Put battery back in
hold power button for a while until it vibrates, release power button
let it sit at the htc boot screen for 10 minutes phone should eventually move to the verizon boot screen (if it goes over 10 minutes on the htc screen, try procedure again)
Post here if you have any trouble.
Still have problems

i've done the procedure but unluckly i'm still having this problem, did someone fix the loop with this method? should i just wait for custom roms? :crying:
I had it happen to me after trying to root with just about every tool out there, mine would boot up but wouldn't go past the htc boot screen white background green htc. After I cleared the data a few times (at least 3) it came back up, try the procedure more than once. Also be patient and wait the full 10 minutes for it to come back up, sometimes it can be slow to load for the first time after this kind of wipe.

Try to root with "PhilZ Recovery by Ajit", search on google, i don't remember where i have download it, but it is an .exe file.
After you install it on your computer, you select USB debugging, and connect your phone to the computer, the rest of the process is auto.
After the installation process, the phone will autoreboot in recovery, here you will select ---> Advanced Function---> RE-root System (SuperSU).
After that, reboot, and install SuperSU from GooglePlay.
Success.
Root without boot loop (you may want to wipe Dalvid Cache before reboot after selecting root).
I hope this works for you ( it worked for me HTC desire 526g ).
Have a nice day.
IF you dont find the Philz, contact me, i wil send it to you.
Philz Recovery by ajit is designed for devices using the Mediatek processor; Sadly our 526 (no g, no +) uses a qualcomm processor. I do not recommend anyone to attempt to use "Philz recovery by Ajit" to attempt to root their HTC 526 as at best it will fail and at worse it will flash a non-compatible recovery and turn your device into a hard-brick.

My phone was also rooted using kingroot. I received an OTA update and I downloaded it. Once the download was complete, the phone restarted and got bootlooped. Occasionally, it goes into recovery. I tried factory resetting it several times as mentioned in the solution. But each time I turn the phone ON again after factory reset, it is looping. Its not stuck at the boot logo. Instead it reboots automatically and in some cases to recovery. So the wait-for-10-mins thing is not working for me.
1. I received a stock ROM from the Russian section of XDA. Will flashing that ROM using the stock recovery using "install update from SD card" help me recover my phone from bootloop?
2. Will flashing the stock ROM unroot the phone? Presently, even after the factory resetting, "check the software partition" option in recovery returns a message "error - system has root". So I was hoping that unroofing might fix the problem. Will it?
3. If the above method fails, is there any other method? Like flashing a custom recovery or flashing a custom ROM etc?
Please help me fix the phone. Thanks in advance.

Hey negomo. I just fixed the phone yesterday. It seems that installing an OTA update while the phone is rooted can result in a bootloop or bricking(as in my case). I fixed this issue by flashing a stock ROM of the HTC 526g which I got from another Russian forum in XDA. Anyway I am posting the link of that stock ROM here.
( I am not allowed to post link. So please delete the spaces to get the actual link)
h t t p s :// yadi.sk/ d/gNKBahgZiwGmo
Once you download it do the following procedure
1. Copy it to an SD card and insert the card in your phone.
2. Press power button+volume up key button to enter HBOOT menu (while turning on the phone, press power and vol up button instead of power button alone)
3. Choose recovery option and press volume down to enter
4. Press power button once to enter recovery
5. Choose "install update from SD card"
6. Wait till it finishes installation
7. Wipe cache
8. Reboot phone
PS: I had already done a factory reset from recovery menu. I don't know if that had helped.
This will bring your phone back to life. Give around 10 mins for the first boot.
I hope I was able to help you.
Hit thanks if I did.
