Hey everyone i'm pretty new here but I already have my rooted stock froyo 2.2 rom thx to you xda devs. I was just wondering was there a way to get the stock lock screen (like you slide to the right for unlock and left for volume) without disabling the sense? Any help is appreciated. Thx!

constructive.
As mentioned above you could try removing htclockscreen.apk, however it might be broken. Maybe try to flash one of the fixes from 2.1 and see what happens? Just nand. And yes, maybe themes/apps is the best spot for this.
Yes you can just remove the htclockscreen.apk... I did it last night after I flashed the new ava rom.
I hope fresh evo 3 is released soon!!!

So do u have the vanilla lock screen now that u removed the htc one
I just removed my htclockscreen.apk and rebooted to test it out and I now have the vanilla lock screen. hth
One thing when you do this but...
Only thing about removing the htc lock screen is when you do this and you set your alarm you wont be able to shut it off. In 2.1 anyway. I dont know about 2.2. Can someone try this and see if it still holds true?

Should have known it was too good to be true. I tested the alarm and was unable to turn it off. Thanks for the heads up.
You have to set the alarm using the stock clock. I am looking for a vanilla 2.2 DeskClock.apk. Does anyone know where to get this?
I also tried flashing the vanilla lockscreen/clock from my previous fresh1.01 install but the clock app is a little messed up. Alarm works but there it force closes somethimes and has gibberish where some sort of info should display instead. Probably do to the tweaks to the apk's in fresh not working right in stock roms.

Does it seem to work properly in terms of sliding it to unlock? I'm not sure, but I think on 2.1 you still had to pull it down to unlock instead of sliding it to the right, which resulted in a weird animation problem.
Edit: Really, I wish I could just theme the Sense lockscreen to look like vanilla. I love the ability to pause music, manage calendar reminders, and use the Sense clock for alarms.

Astro isn't that great for modifying files in /system/. Try installing Root Explorer, there's a button mount /system/ in read/write mode (aptly lableled "Mount R/W").
If you don't want to spend the money, you could use ADB to get rid of it. The command would be something like
"C:\android-sdk-path\tools\adb.exe del /system/app/HTCLockscreen.apk"
Be sure I have the right path to the apk file because I'd hate to mess things up for you. Also, if there's an .odex file, get rid of that too.
Anyone using the vanilla lockscreen, does it look like it should?
For 2.1, it was broken by default. Here's a screenshot of the bug.

Yeah, that's actually the page that I got that image from. I wasn't really clear in my post. I'm only asking if the vanilla lockscreen in Froyo still suffers from that same problem it had in Eclair. I was just curious because I don't have access to my phone right now. From people's responses, I assume it works just fine (apart from the alarm issue, of course).

Hi XDA,
i made this little app i would like to share with you.
It allows you to test if you have successfully rooted your device and it can turn anoying sounds off.
It has 5 sounds to turn off at the moment, these were the ones i found most anoying on my sgs .
If there are others to turn off or they are named different on your device please tell me.
This is build on the Samsung Galaxy S so it might not work on other devices, but maybe we can get it to work!
This app needs root, to mount /system as read+write and then rename the sound files.
It is pretty safe, everything is reversable and not much can go wrong.
Still, if something explodes, burns or starts radiating, i won't take any responsibility .
Currently supported are:
Battery Full (/system/media/audio/ui/TW_Battery_caution.ogg)
Charger/Usb plugged in (/system/media/audio/ui/Charger_Connection.ogg)
Phone powering off (/system/media/audio/ui/shutdown.ogg)
Battery Low (/system/media/audio/ui/TW_Low_Battery.ogg)
Dialer Button(/system/media/audio/ui/TW_Waterdrop.ogg)

Will be very helpful if full battery notification is removed, right now I´m on 30 percent, so I can´t give any feedback until tomorrow. Usb sound is not too annoying, but I´d remove it as well. About shutdown sound, I have removed it already with SGS Tools. Thanks!!!
Is shutdown.ogg also used for startup? 'Cause it's about as annoying.
(I usually just turn the phone to Silent before turning it off, it silences shutdown and bootup)
I think the startup sound is part of the bootanimation.
But i will take a look at it.

Do you have a file explorer and could tell me the contents of your
/system/media/audio/ui directory ?
edit: i think i found it, for the mesmerize the shutdown file seems to be "/system/media/audio/ui/0405_PowerOff.mp3"
I will work something out for the next version .
Edit2: I have uploaded a new version, if you could click the new debugInfo button and tell me what it says i can adapt the files paths for the mesmerize .

Works great !I have waited to someone do an app like this.
I'm sorry, but...
...FOR ME, I repeat, for me its a pointless app, because why bother with the file renaming, if I can simply erase the whole /system/media folder with root access, and then I still can use my own ringtones, without all these annoying default "noises", oh pardon, lets call them sounds.
So now you made an app for something wich can be simply deleted, and then it wont take any memory at all, instead of leaving behind renamed junks.
Btw, I lol'ed about the shutdown.ogg problem; the boot sound is not part of the bootanimation LOL, that comment was just dumb. (no offense, but you can take it if you like, still, I dont mean it that way)

Since i've already been digging into the smali and xml edits i'll take a look at this.
It's difficult because the amount of code needed is ridiculous, however i'm sure we can decompile both this apk and our standard messaging one and compare the color edits and make the necessary changes.
Give me a bit and i'll probably have something up by tonight
he mentions something about having to dig into htc.com.resources.apk as well. Did you see where he said that? That would be cool if you could give it a try, would be nice to have the dark theme MMS as an option.

So apparently this is a lot harder than it looks. The mms applications are different however they both do call on the resources.apk for some of the color changes. I'm going to look into this further but it's not as easy as just editing the mms.apk
Some things change in the mms when you select different themes
id imagine if you just take the stock evo (from whatever build it was) resources and mms...decompile both and diff them against the modded ones its not too hard to find out
ill take a look at it next week if no one has by then

It sounds like a great plan but looking at the differences between the evo and inc2 mms applications are like night and day. There are tons of code that's different between the two, not to mention the sense buttons on the inc2 are different than the ones on the EVO.
My worry about doing it that way is it may look all wonky and we may miss some edits but at least we have a good place to start
Sense has got to be the most difficult thing that i've run into to edit.
I can't even find the correct line of string to re enable the gingerbread crt "electron beam" animation on this phone.

Its something to do with gingerbread. It deleted gallery for me, then messaging and today it deleted the clock. I took it to Verizon and they are sending me a new one. Hoping it has Froyo on it. May be something you could look into if you want froyo possibly.
You have to do a factory reset from the bootloader to get it to come back i think. Thats what did it for me.

It has nothing to do with Gingerbread, but rather the Gingerbread update. Most likely, it has everything to do with Sense and an update HTC did to it.
Good luck getting Froyo on it too.
Just ran the update. I had already done a factory reset and my clock was still working by tapping the widget prior to this update. After the update my clock still works but I still don't have the clock app in my app drawer. So I still either have to tap the clock widget or search for the clock app to get to it. Haven't noticed anything different yet.

Yes you have to factory reset the phone after the GB OTA update. My market disappeared and gmail after the OTA. Factory Reset fixed everything except for alarm clock. One can do it through the settings>sd and phone storage.
The alarm and clock app will most likely be broken until HTC fixes it. They know of this issue. Factory reset will not fix this.
Update is rolling out now. Check and you'll have it.
I assume those running a rooted GB Ginger Sense ROM for example should avoid updating ?

there arent as many differences in resources and framework-res between htc phones as there would be between frameworks on even same revision builds for the same phone amongst say samsung in some cases
the real differences are in the jars and systemui (from what ive witnessed) is generally a lot different (at least in smali)
that being said, things might work from rom to rom...but if u get random force closes or other issues its tougher to diagnose at that point

Just flashed V3, Weather Wallpaper is still crashing.
I really like the mod, it looks sick. Props to successfully working on this stuff man, I know the xml and smali edits are a pita.
Refreshing the actual weather widget causes the HTC Sense launcher to FC still too.
Wud up Andy just flashed the mod n it looks great but I there's some letters that are all white when there saposed to be black...like this

yea sorry man it's the best I could do, it was this or white on white, so this works..
so you flashed V3 and weather app isn't F/C like the others? it isn't for me either...
Decided to make my own set of softkeys based on the stock softkeys, just less bright, and cyan to match the status bar icons. I've attached a Metamorph compatible theme that you can use, and should work on any ROM tested on stock, and on an AOSP build of 4.0.3, but unless your ROM has major changes to the SystemUI APK, this should work fine. Always a good idea to backup first just to be safe.
There is NO included Search key, so if you're using a search key mod, the search key will be the same.

Very nice mod, no problems with the installation
Can you share your wallpaper too?
Thanks!

Thanks! Glad you like them. I've attached the wallpaper as well; got it through Zedge, not sure where it originated, so it's not a full 1440x1280, but it scales pretty well.
so we flash this in recovery right?
Very nice, can you make them brighter though. I havent seen any cyan colored softkeys that are bright enough to see in the daylight real well.

Nope, just use Metamorph from the Market. Place these in /sdcard/AndroidThemes and launch Metamorph (you'll have to install Busybox as well if it's not already installed). Then just pick this one and apply.

Sadly, these are actually as bright as the status bar icons; the problem is that the OS dims them until they're pressed (if you press these you'll see what they're supposed to look like). I don't know if there's a relatively easy way around that or not.
does this have one for a search button or no?
very nice. would have been perfect if it werent for the 3 dot botton on the far right that shows up... even on main home screen. in your screen shots it dont show it, but i got it on mine

You must have installed a modification of some sort. This won't cause anything to appear that wouldn't normally; all it does is replace a few graphics. Are you running a custom ROM?

Does this only work if its being done do stock softkeys? I just tried metamorphing mine, after I have loaded another customized set of softkeys. After reboot, the softkeys disappeared completely.

Depends on what sort of customization. Mine were stock, but short of major changes to the softkey navigation, this shouldn't cause any issues short of design inconsistency if you have a search key. Try unpacking and applying it again. If you need a stock SystemUI.apk just let me know; I backed mine up before applying this.
Thanks, love it! Had to flash and reboot twice for it to work, but it did

Sure thing. I've attached backups from 4.0.2 (actual stock) and what I'm running now (an AOSP build of 4.0.3). Use whichever applies to your ROM, but I'd advise running a backup first before modifying it, just to be safe.

It's not a flashable ZIP. I only zipped it so that I could add it as an attachment. I'd assume you could use:
Code:
adb remount
adb push SystemUI.apk /system/app
but don't trust me on that.
They doesnt look so sharp.. is it the glowing? Wouldnt it look better if they was sharp as the icons in the statusbar? Is it possible?
