Does anyone have any ideas on anything I could use to clean out the headphone port?
I have gathered some fluff from my pockets in the headphone port.
Does anyone have any ideas of anything I could put in there to fill the hole while not in use?

Put your mouth over the hole and suck in really hard, but try not to choke on the fluff.
Warning: I will not be held resonsible for any death cause by this technique.

Or this...
step 1Cut The Cue Tip
Cut the Cue Tip with the knife, or what ever you are using to cut, to desire thickness, but make sure that the Cue Tip can fit in the jack.
step 2Dip The Cue Tip
Dip the Cue Tip into 1 cap-full of Rubbing Alcohol. Make sure that the Cue Tip is soaked, but not enough to drip all over the place.
step 3Cleaning The Jack
WITH THE DEVICE TURNED OFF, stick the Cue Tip into the headphone jack and twist it around to rub all the sides of the jack. Then, let the jack dry and, there you go! One clean headphone jack.

Get one of these... They are called
The "Interdental Brush" is the key. You would be familiar with them if you ever had braces or have dentures. It is an inexpensive brush made for cleaning in tricky spaces in the mouth. It is inexpensive, refillable and easily gotten. The other thing you need is "rubbing" or isopropyl alcohol that is 70% or greater. You will notice in the picture that the brush is roughly the same size as the headphone plug.

I was uncomfortable on how close the usb connector sat with the S3 installed in the Infuse car dock. You could actually scratch the S3 bezel if you weren't careful inserting the phone into the dock. This is because the bottom of the Infuse is flat and the S3 is rounded, it makes the S3 sit ever so slightly closer to the usb connector. I took apart the dock and lengthen the "channel", trimmed the retention plate, and removed the middle retention clip that holds the rear cover on. End result is it opens up about 1.0-1.5mm more then normal making ample clearance for the S3
Attached are pictures of the modified dock..
How hard was it to remove the sliding part from the rest of the dock? I am planning to take it apart soon (after my microUSB extension cable comes in) but didnt want to try it until I knew the cable worked. It seems like it would just pop off, but I didnt want to apply too much force yet.
I just need the bottom part to maintain charging and audio out. I plan on hiding it under the dash and just using the extension cable.
Appreciate the info.

Getting the back cover off without breaking it is a bit tricky. There aren't any screws at all and is held in by only clips. I used two really small flay head screwdrivers and popped it up using the location of the Infuse speaker hole. I then wedged in a hobby knife it and used it to pry up all the edges until the rear popped off. Once off you'll need a #00 Philips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the retention plate on.
Here are some more pics of the modifications.
First pic: Lengthen channel and trimmed retention plate
Second pic: This is how much it opened with out any mods.
Third pic: This is how much it opens after the mods.
Good work, I've taken this apart before on the D710 mount I used previously for my Skyrocket and before I got an Infuse mount for the SIII since everyone was raving about them, but I also noticed that it was a little too close for comfort.... I've just been very careful putting it in, but as much as I drive, it's not something I'll be able to protect every time, so I know what my quick little Sunday project will be today!
I also flipped the Samsung logo around
Feel free to use any of these steps I made for the D710 dock modifications I did in order to get a Skyrocket to fit, it may help others with the disassembly of the back portion in order to get to the screws and the sliders:

Thanks for the tip! I couldn't get the screws loose, so I carefully dremeled the retention bracket in place. Works like a charm!

First off, THANKS to vw671!! Soon as I get my dock, I will do this to spare my S3!

I know what you mean...I had to go to the hardware store to buy a #00 screwdriver to get off the screws! I thought about doing exactly what you did, both will work.
happened to get mine moments ago.... anyone care to explain how to get the back part off exactly? I know you said two clips but where do I pry?
-also, how was the Samsung plate turned around? Already modding it, might as well do that!
EDIT: I GOT IT! -and will try to make a video!
Still interested in the Samsung plate though. tried same method with that and couldn't get it

Clip locations in attached pic.
To flip the Samsung logo around you have to get it off obviously. I used a single sided razor blade to pry it up. Then you have to trim two tabs off the back, you'll know which two when you try to put it back on.

The op mentioned to pry at the headphone jack but I pried it at the rectangle hole (not the usb hole).

I did NOT say pry it from the headphone jack.
I said:

Which is the rectangular hole.
yeah, i got that after pulling my head from my @&# and actually trying. Started from the sides and worked around. Not too bad. All I used was razor and screwdriver. Tried the Samsung plate and snapped the razor, lol.
So I just noticed your "dock" part doesn't have any writing on it. Mine says "LOCK" with a triangle showing to slide it up. odd...

Oh, I must have misunderstood. When you said speaker hole, my first thought was the 3.5mm hole.

haha...waiting for someone to notice that I scratched the front surface trying to pry open the back so I sanded down the front with 2,000 grit sandpaper. I was going to buffing it back to be polished but ended up liking the matte finish. The finish looks better in person than in the pic because a flash was used...the finish sort of matches the Pebble Blue's texture.
any chance of modding it to fit it with a slim case? someone mentioned heat gun in another thread to expand it a little. thoughts?

It would have to be an ultra thin case. I'm going to try this out.

my phone started entering car mode randomly the past two days i have deleted the app very long time ago i did a fresh install with no change, i do work at an iron pipe making factory so my guess is tiny iron powder particles in the usb port. any one can help thx
I've been having similar problems with the s2 and it seems common here. They advise to give the USB port a good clean with some alcohol and if it still gives problems it will most probably need a new port.

but the usb port is so small do i need to use only a tooth peak or what?
Yes, compressed air works a treat too, I think you can buy small tins of it from stationary shops, they use it to clean keyboards etc........... in fact don't you have any compressed air systems at your work?
Give it a quick blast if you do to get the dust out, if that doesn't work its most likely broken, replacements are cheap off eBay if you fit it yourself but if you take it to a shop they may charge a lot more up to £50 at some of the rip off shops round my way. If that's the case you may as well save the cash to put towards an upgrade unless you can get it done real cheap.

Strong magnet for built up metal dust removal. Beware though when using for loud speaker as speakers are magnetic and if done for excessive amount of time may damage the speaker.
Cotton buds
Damp rolled up tissue/toilet roll (rolled between fingers )
Forum fishing.... Who's biting!
the phone also got the loudspeker call bug (usb short fo shure), today i used a magnet and vacum cleaner to clean it there were alote of iron particles in there and now it seems to work fine thx to both of u ;]
edit: started doing it again ;[ will send it for rep i gues
Does anybody have any tips on cleaning the tiny speaker holes at the top and bottom of the phone?
They're far too small to fit anything in there and I don't want to risk damaging any components.
Suggestions?
I've seen some folks use a toothbrush on my previous device forum (One X EVITA). Although others have raised the point that this is just pushing any debris into the phone, which is true.

silly putty or play doe should work with taking the dirt or lint out and not pushing it in.

You can get cyberclean, is a goo that can into the speakers and clean them.

I wouldnt touch the speaker or any of it component, this phone is water resistant and whatever you do might ruin that.
Hey guys
Does anyone know any way to clean the grill of the earpiece? It has gathered enough dust to drive me crazy. I tried with a toothbrush but I think I made it worse, if that's even possible. The toothbrush was the perfect way for my M7-8-9 but the 10's earpiece is not in the same line with the screen.
Thanks in advance

I use blu-tac and it cleaned it pretty effectively.
You have to make the blu-tac quite soft first, just by squeezing it and moving it about in your hand. Then push the blu-tac into the grill, quite forcefully so it gets into the holes. Then remove, any tac that remains can be dabbed out.
This YouTube video shows it quite well. Skipped the rubbish chat
Isn't it super easy to have blue tac stuck in there after that;

I was quite successful. No blu-tac remained
As of recently, there is a loose contact on my charging port so the cable connection isn't realiable anymore. If I don't plug in the power cable just right, the phone won't charge. Has anyone had this problem or does somebody know how Oneplus handles these issues?
That's the reason I bought the 5t insted of the 6. You can repair it very easy by yourself: Some onlineshop
This can happen as lint builds up in the port. Have you made sure the port is clean? I typically use a small needle to clean mine out. You might be surprised how much debris builds up in the port and prevents the cable from being fully plugged in. This is not unique to the 5T obviously it happens to all devices.
If its clean then it could actually be the port. If you use a metal needle (I do) just be careful around the USB pins. (Avoid them).

I second that.
Had the same problem with my Moto G3, fixed after cleaning the USB port. Now I regularly clean the USB port and headphone jack on my 5T (and also the USB C connector on the dash cable). I use a sanded toothpick and small pieces of paper folded in half right at the corner.
I have discovered the mint build up on my last phone (U11). I thought it was a faulty port, and it was full of pocket lint. Safest method for removal is a wooden tooth pick so you don't risk shorting out connections with a metal pin. You may have to widdle it down a bit with knife if it's too big to pick stuff out. You will be amazed at how much comes out

Ive always worried about a toothpick breaking especially after thinning it down. I know in the past Ive even used a small amount of cotton soaked in alcohol wrapped around the needle to clean the contacts. I wish somebody would make something specifically for this purpose. I'd gladly order small plastic picks for this? Anyone come across such a thing?

You can try to cut a toothpick-shaped piece of plastic from something like a ~0.5mm thick plastic packaging (like in the attached photo). Tried it before and worked like a charm.
Thank you guys, solved my problem!
