Hey guys
Does anyone know any way to clean the grill of the earpiece? It has gathered enough dust to drive me crazy. I tried with a toothbrush but I think I made it worse, if that's even possible. The toothbrush was the perfect way for my M7-8-9 but the 10's earpiece is not in the same line with the screen.
Thanks in advance

I use blu-tac and it cleaned it pretty effectively.
You have to make the blu-tac quite soft first, just by squeezing it and moving it about in your hand. Then push the blu-tac into the grill, quite forcefully so it gets into the holes. Then remove, any tac that remains can be dabbed out.
This YouTube video shows it quite well. Skipped the rubbish chat
Isn't it super easy to have blue tac stuck in there after that;

I was quite successful. No blu-tac remained

Hi!
I'm an owner of the HTC One X and I'm also a clean freak!
I noticed that the back marks really easily and the only way of cleaning it I have found so far is to use window cleaner, but I'm worried it will damage the material. Does anybody have any ideas?
Also, dust and dirt get into the gaps between the screen and the bezel, as well as inside the front facing camera. Once again, any ideas?
I'd be happy to hear any suggestions or any other troubles people have had cleaning it.
Thank you!

I used some post-it notes and carefully cleaned out the dust. If anything gets stick in the speaker holes then you can use the sticky part of a post-it to remove it.
Don't go nuts though and really jam in the paper as you might get it stuck then tear it or you may push dust further into the phone.
There is a paper tape. It is very good suction dust >>> People still use it to suck the dust particles remaining on the screen before applying the protective sheet.
I think the measures are very good so you can remove dust in crevices on your device.
Thanks, it works!
The problem is I used a pin before and I think I've pushed a lot in too far.
I guess I messed up.
What colour phone do you have?

I have been using "Pledge clean and dust multi-surface Original" for a couple of years to clean my notebook including the screen and and other electronics including my mobile phones it works great, also it cheap to buy, just make sure you spay a small amount onto a cloth and not on the item to be cleaned.
It says it for metal, electronic, glass and wood on the can.

You could test it by spraying some on an old junk CD/DVD that you don't want. The One X case is polycarbonate and so are CDs/DVDs. The exact recipe of polycarbonate isn't going to be the same but if the cleaner damages the CD/DVD then it isn't going to be a good idea to try it on the One X.
for daily cleaning the DHD official case with microfiber internals is doing wonders
sadly a little bit of the phone remains out of it like 5-10%
I got the white one x and typically use just water and microfiber cloth. If water doesn't do the trick I use eye glass solution. Seems to work fine.

I have the white HTC One X, and I work building and fitting sheds and gates ( so a lot of dirt ). I picked up my phone after a days work and the back just got covered in dirt finger prints/smudges, and i know this sounds ridiculous, but the next day they were all gone and the phone was as clean as new... Thanks HTC for the self cleaning phone

The only time I have noticed it got dirty was the first time taking it into work, once it 'self cleaned' it has never had dirt smudges on it since ( not from memory anyway), strange I know, I'm not mad...
OP, Google a product called Cyber Clean. It's similar to silly puddy. You smear it on your phone. Once you remove the goo, it picks up most of the hard to reach dust particles. You can get it at most computer stores.

I was using some liquid eyeglass cleaner on my screen and some must have leaked in to the display. A dark grey blob started from the left of the display and gradually began moving toward the center, shrinking as it made its way across the screen. It ended up disappearing overnight and there's no sign that it was ever there. Moral of the story? 1) Be careful with liquid cleaners and 2) the display's not entirely or well sealed.
So I find myself blowing spray air at my phone speaker grills every other day now. I don't remember this much dust and crud getting in the speakers on my HTC One M7. Anyone else notice this? Are the grill holes slightly larger?
Stay away from dust

Yes it's there.. and you can clearly notice that.
well had my m8 for a day and noticed dust in top and bottom grill , tried blu tack vacuum compressed air toothbrush .... nothing worked. I was thinking of exchanging however after checking other phones in store on display looks like a common issue
I do it the lazy way..just suck at the grills using your mouth like a vacuum..works well with small particulates ?

omg...sucking a phone hahah wtf ?
I have the M7 and happened to find this post on Google...
To get most of the crud out of my speaker grills, i got a large, flat/angled makeup brush (will attach a photo to this post) and put a tiny bit of hydrogen peroxide on it (which i don't recommend, use rubbing alcohol folks) and brushed the speakers with it.
it worked out pretty good....
I just turn on the Boom speakers for a few seconds and the dust and other crap literally blows out of them.

I haven't had much luck cleaning out the grills. I can get most of it but air/vacuum won't get it all.
No one here remembers the HTC One x days??? use a toothbrush
Toothbrush wouldn't get it all, got most of it though.
hope this works 4 u

Hi Friends. I'm new to XDA Developers community...
I have the One M8.
A big drop of oil spilled onto the top speaker of my M8.
However, I removed(pushed) it with my finger. After wiping with a cloth, some(few) of the holes were blocked. I used a straw to suck the oil up. Now it looks clean.
I'm worried that when I removed the oil initially with my finger, some oil might have gone underneath the speaker grill all the way upto the speaker filter.
Will it stick to the speaker filter ? If it sticks to the filter, what do I do ?
Please feel free to answer my question. Any suggestions, answers are most welcome.
I'd say there's nothing you can do except hope nothing happens. Not much else you can do at this point. ?
form orsemso
Thanks for the reply.
Luckily my speaker works well. I'm not sure whether the clarity/output is the same, but the speaker definitely works !
And it shouldn't rust. ?
Thread closed at OP's request.
Does anybody have any tips on cleaning the tiny speaker holes at the top and bottom of the phone?
They're far too small to fit anything in there and I don't want to risk damaging any components.
Suggestions?
I've seen some folks use a toothbrush on my previous device forum (One X EVITA). Although others have raised the point that this is just pushing any debris into the phone, which is true.

silly putty or play doe should work with taking the dirt or lint out and not pushing it in.

You can get cyberclean, is a goo that can into the speakers and clean them.

I wouldnt touch the speaker or any of it component, this phone is water resistant and whatever you do might ruin that.
A small issue thats bugging me is that the top speaker grill gets easily clogged up when using the phone. as they are so small to even clean correctly and already mines looking horrible and dirty but no way to get into the grills to pick it clean or blow it out.
a fine needed however slow and sometimes painful as the needle needs to be so small you end up hurting your thumb.
tape over the grill doesnt seem to be collecting it
ive read compressed air may not work if it cant blow it up due to the size.
The only thing i can think of would be something like cyber clean putty so has anyone got some and does it work?

Worth trying a Dyson vacuum or the likes
I have a normal Dyson but and tried it but doesnt seem strong enough to get it out the gril. hair products probally didnt help the grill
I have an Axon 7 and I heard using a clean toothbrush to clean the speakers helps. Maybe the same can be done on the Razer phone
I have used a strong magnet to get metal and a kneaded eraser to get some of the rest. I would not use compressed air, blowing into the speakers may ruin it.
Flicking the holes with a needle a few times and then a very soft tooth brush has worked good enough nice to have a pair of awesome speakers again
Try getting a small bristles paint brush guys, I've had front firing speakers on phones since the HTC One M7 and it works so well

Thanks for the tip, got it looking a lot cleaner now with a normal tooth brush but had to apply a little more pressure and cover screen just to prevent any damage
Another method i found useful is using those sticky gel to pick up the dirt, works for me, call Gulu cleaner gel, pick them up from amazon real cheapie
