overclocking xperia with msm7kcpuspeed - XPERIA X1 Themes and Apps

ok this is the guide from Qzytor
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725290&page=120
Install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed V.2 App. in your Device -- (I'm using v.1 becouse with v.2 i didn't get above 700mhz)
Install oruam57s SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card.
Take SD card out and soft reset the phone.
Open registry.
Go to HKLM\Software\Msm7kCpuSpeed.
Edit the values as below:
BootTime = 90000 (This is important. This value gives enough time for the
phone to fully boot up. The phone has to fully boot up
before the OC kicks in)
CheckTime = 20 (Stable at 20, otherwise yoyos between base and OCed
cpu speed)
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel = 35 (This speed is stable for me without SOD)
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel = 27
SettlingTime = 10
Close Registry editor, insert SD card in the phone and soft reset the phone.
Once the phone has fully boot up, give it a minute before opening NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed and you should see your OCed cpu speed.
If your OC cpu speed isnt stable then take your SD card out,soft reset the phone and registry edit PerfomanceLevel to a lower value.
To restore back to phone default speed:
Open File Explorer.
Go to Windows\Startup folder and delete SetCpuSpeed.
Soft reset the phone and phone default speed will be restored.
Before deleting SetCpuSpeed from Windows\Startup folder , save it in Documents folder so if you want to overclock again, copy and paste it from Documents folder to Windows\Startup folder.
SKTools Benchmark at 672 MHz:
Intiger = 416.5933 Moves/25 usec.(At stock speed Intiger = 332.6351)
Floating point = 9.56 MWIPS. (At stock speed Floating point = 7.47 MWIPS)
I haven't tested it but this should also work on SEX1 and Touch Diamond.
OVERCLOCK AT YOUR OWN RISK.
ok thats Qzytor post which is really great and i'm very thankfull for this
this is my setting and i try this on energy and valkyrie rom working on xperia
BootTime = 90000
CheckTime = 20
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel = 39 (thats 744mhz and it's stabel for me )
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel = 27
SettlingTime = 10
but i'm using msm7kcpuspped v1 not v2 .....
you don't need to plug in the phone especially when the phone boots up (thats was may first mistake i never wait the phone to fully boot up , and i was allways presing some buttons and that's way my phone was freezing so just wait and you will see for yourself

it's working stable but only plug in to ac adapter ....the speed is quite impresive ..

X1 freeze even on AC Adapter
Can't get this app to work on my x1 even on ac adapter.
Each time I try to adjust the speed my x1 will freeze immediately and I had to hard reset it. It's even freeze when I underclock it.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong with it? By the way I'm using WM6.5.3 ROM. Could this be the reason?
Thanks.

currently oc speed up to 652.8.. scrolling now a bit smoother.. video playback on wm player almost flawless..
dude what's the highest speed you achieve without ac power?

What numbers do you use?
BootTime =
CheckTime =
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel =
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel =
SettlingTime =

Results
634mhz:
387
9.150
stock:
330
7.756
I dont know what it means

i use
BootTime =90000
CheckTime =20
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel =36
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel =27
SettlingTime =10
and i use it for two days without any SOD ...but i think this is the max what xperia can achieve ...becouse any other setting above performance level 36 is SOD or restart ... but performance was quite impressive ...i will post the results later .... i can only say that performance in fpsece was better (playable) around 25-30 fps ..before 15-20

I don't understand this step: "Go to HKLM\Software\Msm7kCpuSpeed"
How to do that?

Use a registry editor to navigate to that "folder." If you google registry editor, you'll figure it out.

there is another tool for overclocking called OCT 1.5 , but i coludn't overclocked not even for 10 mhz , its allways frezes ,so if anybody can overclocked with this tool please let us know....
i use now xperia overclocked to 692 mhz in i see an improvement but i would like to overclocked to 768 mhz , ....if you have touch pro 2 is that quite easy to achieve (so it looks ) ...
so if anyone can explain to me what's the difference that they overclocked so high ?

[GUIDE] The ultimate Guide to Speed Up your Hero "safely"!! (any ROM)

Hi all..
Are you ready to unleash the hidden Power of your HTC Hero??
many have used CPUOverclock, but faced a lot problems regarding Battery life, right? well, here is how you can balance it. and make the battery stay longer with the same performance
you also can configure Android internal task killer to boost your ROM even more http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622666
NOTE: this guide requires that your phone is rooted !!
Step 1: you need 2 applications "Overclock widget" and "Spare Parts" << download both from Market.
Step 2: add "Overclock widget" to any homescreen. click on it then click on "Advanced Settings" and set the Frequencies as following:
Screen On:
Max: 528000
Min: 528000
check the "differ freq Screen .." button.
Screen Off:
Max: 384000
Min: 245760 << you can put it to 128000 to save more battery, but lagges Music sometimes.
go down the list and click on "Save"..
Finally, Step 3: (not needed on 2.x ROMs)
go to the app "Spare Parts" and find "End Button Behavior" and set it to "Go to Sleep"..
you are done
Explanation: HTC made the CPU at 384 MHz and automatically overclock to 528 MHz if needed (both screen ON or OFF). this actually affects the Usability of the Phone
this method will make the CPU at best when screen is ON, and saves a looooot of battery when screen is OFF.
Statistics: using SoftWeg Benchmarking app (in the market) :
Stock ROM 2.73:
different tests:
CPU total score: 125-130
Modaco ROM 3.0:
different tests:
CPU total score: 121-130 << that's why I changed back to rooted Stock 2.73
Stock 2.73 with this method:
different tests:
CPU total score: 170-178 !!!
kaguDroid 1.2.1 with this method:
different tests:
CPU total score: 220-282 !!!
I used it on KaguDroid1.2 and the Live wallpapers performed better and no lagges .. but I forgot to take benchmarks numbers
GPU benchmarks were improved too, but I focused on CPU more.
I'm in the process of making an Eclair ROM with SenseUI (that supports Arabic) and if someone could help me make the Kernel perform like this by default without this method, please PM me ASAP !!!
the good app name is Overclockwidget and needs root

Another Tip if you are scared of overclocking or alongside overclocking
@ MaXo64 - can you add this to the first post please?
& ALL
You can also do what is on this thread (by androcheck). No overclocking required (you can if you really want to) and it makes your UI SUPER-FAST even the custom rom makers are now adding it to their configs.

I can see an instant improvement with these settings! (I'm using MCR 3.1)
Thanks dude!
when i first started this on my MCR3.2 Hero, settings were were you suggested to be. is this normal? so i didn't have to set anything.
actually this does nothing whatever freq i set.

true, but make sure to set the "Spare Parts" thingy, so the CPUOverclock know that your phone is really in "Sleep" mode. or your battery will drain..
total CPU score here 279.571 (using kagudroid)
So, if we compare this:
Screen On:
Your Setting: 528 MHz
HTC default: 384-528 MHz
Screen Off:
Your Setting: 245-384 MHz
HTC default: 384-528 MHz
So with your settings, we can only save battery if screen is off? If screen is on, with your setting, i need more battery than the default value? But it runs evertime at full speed...
Am I right with this?
You're absolutely correct . Yup it just turns on full powern screen-on and saves battery when screen off.
Total CPU score MCR3.1: 170
My score is WITH "minfree" tweak.
Spare parts is not working on 2.1 roms......
I have 145 with Modaco 3.1

exactly, but you get the advantage of no lagging caused by auto-clocking as in HTC settings.

CpuBenchmarking => Desire @ 550Mghz ???

Hi everyone i just installed an app called CPUbenchmarking from the market , and @ my surprise it said that ur cpu speed is 550mghz !!!!!
shouldn't it be 1ghz ????
is there any other way to test my cpu frequency ?
Thx in advance .
I got 998mhz with same app.
yea same
The Desire is constantly underclocking itself when not in use, mine is regularly down at 285Mhz.
even when i run stress test it says 550 ...
i'm using MoDaCo R3.1 For Desire ...
and the hardware "field" is empty (when running the program it says
CPU SPEED : 550 MGHZ -- HARDWARE : )
is that normal ?
anyother program to check the frequency ?
thanks !
EDIT : Installed a widget from the market ( altough the dev himself said to not isntall it in its comment ... )
and it showed many change of frequency ...
first 245 as soon as going to camera , 998 , then 768 , and then Droping to 245 ...
so why CpuBenchmarking can't see the correct Frequency ??
thx
For me it says too 550GHz, but who cares. Have you worked on a 550GHz CPU phone? I did 5 hours ago. It's S.L.O.W.
The desire reduces speed when not needed but boosts it when needed, best way to run a phone as ut saved battery life.

SetCPU and force it to run at 998mhz all the time. But obviously your battery will drain and phone could possibly have heat problems.

@op
I don't think you should take it so seriously you wouldn't be in doubt if you only had a 550M processor
i think the software was buggy ...
installed Quadrant benchmark , and it gave me a full spec of my Cpu ( max freq , min frequ , current frequ , ... ) and it was correct ... 998mghz ...
thx everyone

Working Overclocking Tool!

Hi!
NetRipper just released an overclocking tool for the MSM7k chipset. I tested it on my Blackstone and according to Benchmarks i made with SKTools it really works, on my device up to ~710MHz. It currently only works when connected to AC-Power.
Here you can find the tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725290
wow, this actually does seem to work. can anyone else confirm this?
Wow!
It's really true?
I'm gonna test it right now.
Thanx

-rom installed
-radio rom installed
-date when device was produced
It can by helpfull to find solution for people, whose Blackstones freezes
For my THD it's:
-not working
-BlackSTONEhenge 5.0, tested also on Energy, Evo 2.8, BlackSTONEhenge Hyper 2.0 and Cloudy 2.2
-1.14
-April 2009
Its work on BlackStone but only on power line. If unplug it will hang. Wait for the next perfect version.

Works on blacky
Hello there,
i've tried this app. First try was fail because blacky stucks on whenever i changed frequency. Down or up no difference... When I connect AC still same situation... I was very disapointed so i try this again and again... Nothing...
Today i had an idea... I've tried connect blacky via usb and fed it via usb
It is working, now I can overlock IT... Only via USB when I connect it on AC it stucks...
I also tried 604MHz magic button but when i disconnect USB cable blacky automatically downlocks to 528...
Last stable try is 710MHz on USB power of course
At 729MHz Manila is restarting ...

Overclock your Blackstone

Hey guys this is how overclocking is working on Blackstone, on ac or battery power. Stable at 672 MHz. and the phone is that much more snappier.
Install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed V.2 App. in your Device.
Install oruam57s SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card.
Take SD card out and soft reset the phone.
Open registry.
Go to HKLM\Software\Msm7kCpuSpeed.
Edit the values as below:
BootTime = 90000 (This is important. This value gives enough time for the
phone to fully boot up. The phone has to fully boot up
before the OC kicks in)
CheckTime = 20 (Stable at 20, otherwise yoyos between base and OCed
cpu speed)
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel = 35 (This speed is stable for me without SOD)
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel = 27
SettlingTime = 10
Intiger = 416.5933 Moves/25 usec.(At stock speed Intiger = 332.6351)
Floating point = 9.56 MWIPS. (At stock speed Floating point = 7.47 MWIPS)
I haven't tested it but this should also work on SEX1 and Touch Diamond.
OVERCLOCK AT YOUR OWN RISK.
After install by follow the instruction, my HD work perfectly. And I try to set speed up to 710 Mhz (Level 37) then it hang. So, the stable should be 672 Mhz on battery as above. THK
.
sorry, but i haven't found the link to download SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card? and this works with the original rom ?
by the way, nice work!!!!!!
Battery performance?
How is the battery performance compared to stock speed? I'm gonna try myself anyway but i dont have time now... Just curious

This is good Post but why you didnt provide a corect link for the apps you need SetCpuSpeed 1.0d cab : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7426966&postcount=1000
Where to install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed in Storage Card or?
Also Hatori create a cab with the reg setting you need to do so if all is working corectly you can include them i mean to edit the post to be more simple and clear and easy to use
Thanks
I cannot understand what u mean by without having gps? so when we overclock we cant use the GPS of the phone or what?
My results are :
SKTools Benchmark at 672 MHz
Integer 420.1011
Floating point 9.633
Note when i do the Bench i forgot ON my WiFi but the result is still GOOD and i can see faster UI and everything.
Also my question is if i want to go back to default what i should do? step by step.
1st to take out the SD card and reset the phone, then edit the regs back to default and uninstall the Msm7CpuSpeed from the phone, then softreset and after the phone load inser in the SD card then uninstall the SetCpuSpeed 1.0d cab and again soft reset.. is that corect? and after a reset the phone will be back to default settings?!
Thanks in advance
I've been follow the original thread.
Qzytor found a solution for the "Blackstone" users, how to overclock our devices without SOD.
Thanx to him my Blackstone flys now
I've tried running it on my blackstone and it hangs on 672MHz, mine only runs stable at 652MHz (level 34)
I am running an NRGZ ROM though and not blackstonehenge...so that might make a difference.
Very awesome!!! My Blackstone now runs stable at 691,2 MHz (level 36) and it seems to have no (or minimal) affect to battery life! I can finally play Spyro using fpsece at 30fps and Abe's Exoddus at 45fps. Very nice

Thanks in advance

if you were following the original thread, then you would have known that, originally, having the gps enabled was one way of preventing the device from locking up when overclocked.

Previously (before Msm7CpuSpeed registry value edits) overclocking only worked if gps or wifi was on.
Yes Gps works while the phone is OCed.
For reverting back to phone default speed and where to install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed, see post 1.
OCed my Blackstone only to 652MHz (only one that was stable for me =/
No benefit from the "OC" as far as I can see..
...although others might be more lucky
I was very lucky and easy Overclock my Blackstone with no Problem and the device is just fly but i notice the side effect of this Overclock the Battery DRAIN is alottttttt
Normaly with the ROM im using with one charge i have around 3-4 days Battery so i Overclocked today and when i do it i was on 47% of my battery and 5 hrs latter with litle usage i mean few phone calls etc i was on 10% of my battery very very fast
So i guess if you want to use the Overclock you need to recharge your device very often like everyday or every 12 hrs if you use it alot i prefer to have 3-4 days power and for this reason i just revert back to the default processor speed for now

You're right, worked for me as well but kinda batter drainer, have to recharge every day...
I bought my Blackstone a month or so after it was released, so it may have a lower quality CPU or something..but I can't overclock much at all, so people with performance benefits - be happy!
...I am normally charging everyday anyway, so I don't really mind =]

Dude i bought my HD exactly when was released and i wait few days like week the device to arrive in my Country so i think your problem is not becuase like you think your chip is "old" mine is older and i still can Overclock without problem
anyone know who OCed can tell me how the HD performance playing in RMVB file?
before it, i can play but kinda laggy, if the OC work for better performance, shud really gona try it~

When I was running Energy ROMs I couldn't overclock, I got some freezes or the device just restarted... and I think that's because Energy ROMs for Blackstone are kinda slow and resource demanding.
I'm now on blackSTONEhengeā„¢ HyPer v2.5 (6.5.3.24623) and I have to say that this is the fastest Sense 2.5 ROM I've ever tried, overclocked it to 672 and works well but you have to wait for 1 minute after sense loads every time you restart or else it will freeze. If you are a heavy duty user and you say that you recharge your phone every day, I think the battery won't last 24 hours overclocked.
Hey Guys, what about heat? Cuz if I put Android i can tell that the device is kinda overheated even when is in sleep mode. So is there noticeable temperature changes when we overclock our BS with this?

Yes it it but not as in Android when it almost melts.
You can see that it's heating up but not as if you can't use it...

Not for me, my blackstone is overclocked from 528 MHz to 691 MHz and it's as cold as at 528 MHz

It's my xperia overcloacked?

Hi!, i recently flashed my Arc (that is an prototype, a very complete prototype) to an official firmware (2.3.3).
But i have some problems, like i can't make a "factory restore" because i got a blue screen saying "aww snap ...."..
I can't unlock the bootloader, because i has tried with my code generated on SE website and i get an error message.
gingerbreak doesn't works
Super One click Doesn't works
I just can root downgrading to 2.3.2 , but when i do the update, the phone crashes with a blue screen dumping (that takes 10 minutes on finish).
I think that i never can root my xperia arc .
(if someone haves a solution please tell me )
oh yes, the question..
I have runned a benchmark tool(Quadrant Standard) and in the system info i get this CPU values:
Current freq 1024 MHz
Max freq 1024 Mhz
Min freq 122.88.
If my cpu is running on the maximum performance, that's not good for my battery life, and i can imagine that i can't down the clock if i don't root the device.
I have the same max freq. as you so it should not be overclocked and I'm not having any battery life issues.
Are you having battery life issues?
hmm nope, the battery life is about 2 or 3 days depending of the use.
The CPU clocks up as and when needed (this is called scaling), mainly it should drop to around 256mHz (i think) when not in use ad jump up to the maximum if its required, if it is at 1024 all the time it may be that there is something running ie an app that is forcing the CPU to stay up at that speed.
easy way to check cpu activity : ''cpu spy'' from market simple and does what you want
