Overclock your Blackstone - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hey guys this is how overclocking is working on Blackstone, on ac or battery power. Stable at 672 MHz. and the phone is that much more snappier.
Install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed V.2 App. in your Device.
Install oruam57s SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card.
Take SD card out and soft reset the phone.
Open registry.
Go to HKLM\Software\Msm7kCpuSpeed.
Edit the values as below:
BootTime = 90000 (This is important. This value gives enough time for the
phone to fully boot up. The phone has to fully boot up
before the OC kicks in)
CheckTime = 20 (Stable at 20, otherwise yoyos between base and OCed
cpu speed)
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel = 35 (This speed is stable for me without SOD)
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel = 27
SettlingTime = 10
Close Registry editor, insert SD card in the phone and soft reset the phone.
Once the phone has fully boot up, give it a minute before opening NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed and you should see your OCed cpu speed.
If your OC cpu speed isnt stable then take your SD card out,soft reset the phone and registry edit PerfomanceLevel to a lower value.
To restore back to phone default speed:
Open File Explorer.
Go to Windows\Startup folder and delete SetCpuSpeed.
Soft reset the phone and phone default speed will be restored.
Before deleting SetCpuSpeed from Windows\Startup folder , save it in Documents folder so if you want to overclock again, copy and paste it from Documents folder to Windows\Startup folder.
SKTools Benchmark at 672 MHz:
Intiger = 416.5933 Moves/25 usec.(At stock speed Intiger = 332.6351)
Floating point = 9.56 MWIPS. (At stock speed Floating point = 7.47 MWIPS)
I haven't tested it but this should also work on SEX1 and Touch Diamond.
OVERCLOCK AT YOUR OWN RISK.

After install by follow the instruction, my HD work perfectly. And I try to set speed up to 710 Mhz (Level 37) then it hang. So, the stable should be 672 Mhz on battery as above. THK
.

sorry, but i haven't found the link to download SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card? and this works with the original rom ?
by the way, nice work!!!!!!

Battery performance?
How is the battery performance compared to stock speed? I'm gonna try myself anyway but i dont have time now... Just curious

This is good Post but why you didnt provide a corect link for the apps you need SetCpuSpeed 1.0d cab : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7426966&postcount=1000
Where to install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed in Storage Card or?
Also Hatori create a cab with the reg setting you need to do so if all is working corectly you can include them i mean to edit the post to be more simple and clear and easy to use
Thanks
I cannot understand what u mean by without having gps? so when we overclock we cant use the GPS of the phone or what?
My results are :
SKTools Benchmark at 672 MHz
Integer 420.1011
Floating point 9.633
Note when i do the Bench i forgot ON my WiFi but the result is still GOOD and i can see faster UI and everything.
Also my question is if i want to go back to default what i should do? step by step.
1st to take out the SD card and reset the phone, then edit the regs back to default and uninstall the Msm7CpuSpeed from the phone, then softreset and after the phone load inser in the SD card then uninstall the SetCpuSpeed 1.0d cab and again soft reset.. is that corect? and after a reset the phone will be back to default settings?!
Thanks in advance

I've been follow the original thread.
Qzytor found a solution for the "Blackstone" users, how to overclock our devices without SOD.
Thanx to him my Blackstone flys now

I've tried running it on my blackstone and it hangs on 672MHz, mine only runs stable at 652MHz (level 34)
I am running an NRGZ ROM though and not blackstonehenge...so that might make a difference.

Very awesome!!! My Blackstone now runs stable at 691,2 MHz (level 36) and it seems to have no (or minimal) affect to battery life! I can finally play Spyro using fpsece at 30fps and Abe's Exoddus at 45fps. Very nice

if you were following the original thread, then you would have known that, originally, having the gps enabled was one way of preventing the device from locking up when overclocked.

Previously (before Msm7CpuSpeed registry value edits) overclocking only worked if gps or wifi was on.
Yes Gps works while the phone is OCed.
For reverting back to phone default speed and where to install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed, see post 1.

OCed my Blackstone only to 652MHz (only one that was stable for me =/
No benefit from the "OC" as far as I can see..
...although others might be more lucky

I was very lucky and easy Overclock my Blackstone with no Problem and the device is just fly but i notice the side effect of this Overclock the Battery DRAIN is alottttttt
Normaly with the ROM im using with one charge i have around 3-4 days Battery so i Overclocked today and when i do it i was on 47% of my battery and 5 hrs latter with litle usage i mean few phone calls etc i was on 10% of my battery very very fast
So i guess if you want to use the Overclock you need to recharge your device very often like everyday or every 12 hrs if you use it alot i prefer to have 3-4 days power and for this reason i just revert back to the default processor speed for now

You're right, worked for me as well but kinda batter drainer, have to recharge every day...

I bought my Blackstone a month or so after it was released, so it may have a lower quality CPU or something..but I can't overclock much at all, so people with performance benefits - be happy!
...I am normally charging everyday anyway, so I don't really mind =]

anyone know who OCed can tell me how the HD performance playing in RMVB file?
before it, i can play but kinda laggy, if the OC work for better performance, shud really gona try it~

When I was running Energy ROMs I couldn't overclock, I got some freezes or the device just restarted... and I think that's because Energy ROMs for Blackstone are kinda slow and resource demanding.
I'm now on blackSTONEhenge™ HyPer v2.5 (6.5.3.24623) and I have to say that this is the fastest Sense 2.5 ROM I've ever tried, overclocked it to 672 and works well but you have to wait for 1 minute after sense loads every time you restart or else it will freeze. If you are a heavy duty user and you say that you recharge your phone every day, I think the battery won't last 24 hours overclocked.

Hey Guys, what about heat? Cuz if I put Android i can tell that the device is kinda overheated even when is in sleep mode. So is there noticeable temperature changes when we overclock our BS with this?

Yes it it but not as in Android when it almost melts.
You can see that it's heating up but not as if you can't use it...

Processor Speed

Hi
Is there an area on the xda2s where you can maximise your processor speed? On my old Dell x3 you could choose 'max perfromance' or 'conserve battery' etc.
It's just for a 400mhz product it gets quite slow sometimes..........
Apologies if this has already been asked....I did search for it but couldn't find anything...
Thanks in advance,

Your right for a 400Mhz it's sometimes slow ... d'ont understand it ...
My previous device was a 400Mhz aswell, and was much faster.
Maybe it has something to do because it has a build-in phone?
Have you tried
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...4&sectionId=3287&catalog=30&topSectionId=3274
won't it damage the cpu of our pda?.
regards
Not if you dont push it too far! It defaults to 472MHz max, you can switch off this limit and take it further. Mine is stable at 472MHz, never tried to take it further. Overclocking generally wont damage the CPU unless you are daft. As a rule, the PDA will just crash if you take the clock speed too far. The crash may mean a hard reset if you are unlucky!
In short you can kill the proc through overclocking, but its unlikely.
One point to note is that the 'auto scale with cpu load' option on xcpuscaler is a load of [email protected] Does not seem to work at all.
I mainly use xcpuscaler to slow down my proc to 200MHz, dont need 400 MHz to read avantgo or an ebook, or listen to an MP3, but running at 200MHz does give a reasonable increase in battery life.
Nigel
I have installed the xcpus..., do I configure it so that it varies the speed automatically, but is it always constant to 400 mhz??
does somebody know because??
thank you
XCPU2.85
Anyone has a copy of XCPU2.85 which is not trial version. Mine has expired.
2.82 does not work in 2nd edition.
Try using Pocket Hack Master from Anrom Tomov. Runs good on the QTEK 9090. See www.handango.com
A little note
Dunno if any of you realize this but be careful should you decide to remove pocket hack master..
i noticed that it does not clear the registry of its CPU settings... i found this out by uninstalling the software (after setting cpu speed to 472)... and when i reinstalled it again.. the software defaulted to 472 mhz..
make sure you go to the registry to get rid of some of the settings... just do a registry search for anton and remove the reg entries..
sorry if you guys already know this.. and i don't know if left behind registry keys mean anything if the software is not active but better be safe than sorry right? and i'm a noob here so just trying to help out

CPU overclock

does exists a software specially for overclocking my P3300 CPU? I tried xscalar, or something like that, but it takes my device only on 196 mhz, starting from 133mhz (or this 133 is over my 200 mhz by default?)

Look, just configure your ARTEMIS BatteryStatus,CpuScalar for 120, 201, 247 with this configuration your battery last for ever because when it doesnt need speed goes to the lowest speed, only if you are running aplication the overclock take action.
Hope it helps,

If you can avoid it, don't overclock!
As stated earlier in this thread...
I've found that overclocking, even with scaling, seriously affects battery performance.
I was until today running Vanilla 2.0, which was ok until I added batterystatus, with either fixed or scale doverclocking - both of which drained the battery like crazy.
If battery status is an isuse, use a lean, clean rom and don't load up loads of stuff you don't need - then the device will perform faster... I've just switched back to the Dopod WM6 release, and unclocked it runs everyhting I need absolutely fine.

lol, thats good! Fair point, I'll keep an eye on the battery life.
Perhaps changing the max speed to the standard speed, but keep the low idle speed set will improve power consumption?

I think you're probably better off just not installing stuff you don't need, and where posisble install to your SD card, keeping RAM as free as possible - that will give you a cleaner machine and reduce the need to be tempted to consider trying to overclock... make sure that you have low standby and backlight off settings when on battery use, and keep your device on charge overnight so you always have a devcent level of charge in the morning. If you need to, buy a desktop charger from ebay for a few quid, and stick your phone on it when you get home...

Thanks for the advice. The CPU clocking is being done with Battery Status, which is part of the ROM, so If power consumption continues to be a problem I'll disable the over-clocking function from the Battery Status Options.
As for charging I'm fine, I have an in-car charger and a 40 minute commute every morning/evening
Thanks again,
John
i've got a question about batterystatus, maybe some1 in this post knows the answer:
is there a way that batterystatus keeps the overclock setting while suspended? i would love to UNDERclock my cpu to 123mhz when suspended, so safe extra battery, but seems that everytime i suspend, BS sets it back to 201.
i tried the options, but i can't figure out if it's possible to over/under clock while suspended.
Have you tried the CPUScaler option? It's build in to version 1.04
For the original FAQ etc goto the BatteryStatus website. Or read more in this thread.
i haven't try it. i have artemis 2.2

Well, although I can't uninstall the battery bar I have disabled the over clocking! I sat yesterday and could almost watch the power drain in real time, even with the Max speed set to 201Mhz. I switched the function off and the battery is lasting a lot longer again.
Moral: Don't over-clock at all!

I've tried ALL the cooked ROMS here - I have a 'spare' device for testing...
I use my device for work emails, sat nav, personal mails, web browsing, music, and as my phone. I pair it up with a Sony Blootooth car stereo.
So... aside from a few games, what else do you need to do with your phone? I'd suggets that most of the stuff loaded onto some of the ROMS is completely superfluous and just clogs up the device - things like the touch cube are really tarty overheads. Over the past year, I have played with most stuff that's out there, free and paid, and have a pretty default set of standard stuff that I load onto a clean RM. I was using Vanilla 2.0, but that still ate battery, so when I read that the Dopod shipped WM6 ROm was fast and bare, I thought I'd give it a go, and I haven't looked back...
Here's what I have on it, all running from the Stoarage Card where possible:
CloseAll
Hibernate
Hbutton
TodayAgenda (enhanced Calendar on Today)
Sunnysoft Contacts (one fingered dialling in the car)
TotalCommander
TomTom 6
Coreplayer (gives far better bluetooth audio streaming, and plays videos)
iphone keypad (default one buttons too small in the car)
SamsungTime (big clock on Today, but doesn't have the weight of HTC)
With all of this, I get brilliant battery life and a more than adequate response time without any overclocking, and over 20mb useable ROM.
TangerineTractor,
Why have you choosen the Dopod WM6 rom?
After having that rom I switched to the official Europe WM6 rom. No big differences, but with Ms Office 2007 on board, now the Word and Excel files are fully compatible with my desktop PC. The only disadvantage was that I had to install AudioManager separatelly. (But, in fact, I rather use CorePlayer.) It's a stable and reasonable fast rom. Storage Memory is low but each prog is in Storage Card if applicable. And there is very low RAM leaking (after a day of usage it's still above 20 M -- and Spb Mobile Shell runs constantly!).
Have you tried the Europe ver.?

HTC Hermes overclocking

Hi folks!
How can the HTC Hermes overclock. Did it with some tools tried, but rather less successful. Batteerystatus no, xcpuscalar, overclocked but not really at 472-500 MHz. And with the PHM I can overclock well, but then does my GPRS connection to the Internet no longer work.
Is there a way to change this?

Although it is possible to overclock Hermes it cannot be done relyabily or without damaging the CPU...
Some utilities may allow an active and practical overclock but I wouldn't advise it...
As you may know, if wou want your Hermes to be more responsive, performant, you can increase your ROM page pool size prior to flashing.
Cheers.
it might not be able to overclock.. but, should be able to keep the cpu locked at 400mhz and not throttle to lower speeds.. which would make it much more responsive.. I've been meaning to test this

The CPU is always at 400mhz. Wtf are you talking about?
no its NOT always at 400Mhz.. it has auto speed scaling built in. something is not right with both tcpmp and gxmark benchmarks.. using the newest PHM I manually set the lowest possible speed of 251Mhz, and disabling built-in scaling thinking of past knowledge that it doesn't do anything to our devices. I should not see any difference right? well visually it is MUCH slower than setting it at 400Mhz with both programs showing the same score at both speeds.. this CANNOT be correct.. I can see it with my eyes a night and day difference.. 420 seemed stable but the scores were showing slower than factory clock.. whats going on here?
this has been gone over so many times in the forum its not even funny any more.
use the search facility...
yes I know, I've read the overclocking threads from two years past.. ever considered newer software might change things? It does identify the processor correctly as a S3C2442A. I still want to know the answer to why benchmarks aren't reporting correctly.. BTW this thread should be moved
here are some results.. with a fresh boot I loaded a 39306KB AVI movie in CorePlayer 1.2.4. I ran its benchmark and also timed it with a stopwatch. The benchmark reported 1.60Mbit/s @ 3 Minutes and 21 seconds, also correct on the stopwatch. 321994752 bits divided by 201 seconds comes out to 1.601 Mbit/sec just like their calcs. Now I opened pockethackmaster 4.33 and set the clock to 420Mhz and reran the coreplayer benchmark. Here's the wierd part, the test reported that it took 4 minutes and 2 seconds with a 1.33Mbit/s rate but in actuality it only took 2 minutes and 58 seconds according to my stopwatch. Do the match, thats 1.809 Mbits/sec real throughput. So overclocking DOES work.. pretty significantly if I might add, but it appears that the timers used in these benchmarks are skewed and not reporting accurate numbers. Someone else try some tests and back me up here.

But then you lose Ram, and when you only have 30 or so mb's of it to start its a crapshoot.
sure, it might make some of your videos or games faster but you'll most likely have problems with any data connection
PHM can brick your phone to an irreversable state, and xcpuscalar falsely shows an increase in processor speed. Battery status will not work for the hermes, and I don't think there is a program that will overclock a hermes CPU. As for the not constantly running at 400mhz, that is not a bad thing. Think of it as a P.C., when you are not running apps, there is a system idle process that occupies the majority of the processor, meaning that not all of the speed is utilized. If this is the case, that means that the processor is not running at full speed. Same goes for the Hermes, however there is no system idle process, just a slower clock speed. When you open an app it will reach, but not go over 400mhz.
pleas see attached zip file
this program give you the ability to overclock the hermes up to 420Mhz
i tested it - and at 420Mhz the device becomes slower and some minor flicks of the screen
i went back to 400Mhz and the device went back to usual operation
regards
edward
I too have tried various clock speeds but at the end of it all i left it default as the device was too unstable.
Also I have of course continue my attempts to overclock Hermes, but I am no satisfactory conclusion. At the moment I use xcpuscalar have all possibilities of tuning 500mhz switched on and it is stable. A benchmark I have not done, so I do not know exactly whether he has speed. But the belief puts mountains.

nueOverClock can we finally overclock our Blackstone

There is a overclock test going on at nuerom!
He finally managed to overclock some MSM72xx devices,
although right now it's only a beta test some results has been successful.
For now it's only possible overclocking to 768MHz

Yeah, i read it but i don't understand the instructions, how to i test it?
From reading the comments its still a no... but a step in the right direction I guess... 600Mhz would do for me... smoooth up You Tube and general response time would be great!
isnt this the same as this?

Pressed the icon and the same results just a striaght of crash/restart wonder why he cant step the over clock speed down abit it would be good to see this running for a little while,
Id be hapy with 600mhz as well lol thats not being greedy hope this comes true i had an samsung omnia i900 and used to use it all the time then i overclocked it using software and damn the phone was fast even animations like flash and divxs loaded fast, great for kinetic scrolling to,

no it's not the same, this application is for overclocking.
But it's from the same guy ^^
does not work for me as well maybe 768mhz is just too much
is there any possibility to use for example only 650mhz?
It seems to help to disable radio (only Phone OFF) and plug the phone into the A/C charger.
This is a very early test version ....most users at HTC Diamond an Xperia confirmed that it works.
More tweak options ...lower/higher CPU speeds will follow, like i said this is a very early beta but it seems promising. For now it is only 768MHz .
Hi, work me it "works".
You have to disable all plugins on today (touch flo, titanium) and then it works.
In SK tools integer benchmark I get 485 points, 331 on standard frequency, which is I mean huge difference. But solitaire works for 5sec, then freezes. Igo 8 loads to main screen and then freeze....
GSM Touch HD
iam try to oc my blackstone but my phone freez at every time when i try it... (turned on/off radio, with/without ac adapter)

Do you tested it on a Blackstone?
Be sure, on my Blackstone,with EnergyROM 30.8.2009.
I've been using it by now about 5 hours on Xperia X1. These are the results of the benchmarks (from sk tools) with v.1.3

I'm using a cooked rom with windows mobile 6.5. Windows now works a lot better, not as choppy as before, photos are loading a lot faster and I get about 5-15fps more on the psx emulator. Overall it works great, but keep in mind it's not really stable. It freezes with ease.
And I had to disable my Phone on comm manager (the option between fly mode and bluetooth) if I don't it freezes. But once you run the overclock you can turn it on again and it works perfect.
Hey sorry duplicate post, don't know how to delete it :-|
how long have you been running it for? And have you noticed any increased heating? I expect that there will be...i'm just slightly worried that extended use will kill the Blackstone =/
What do I have to do to get 768MHZ?
Just install the cab and start the program?
Hello,good software to destroy your HD ...
Alright Marcdu81
we got two options here:
Your post is just senseless and absolutely unnecessary.
or
You experienced some difficulties after installing this software, maybe it even harmed your HD.
If that is the case you should state more precisely what happened in order to help avoiding things like that in the future!

overclocking xperia with msm7kcpuspeed

ok this is the guide from Qzytor
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725290&page=120
Install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed V.2 App. in your Device -- (I'm using v.1 becouse with v.2 i didn't get above 700mhz)
Install oruam57s SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card.
Take SD card out and soft reset the phone.
Open registry.
Go to HKLM\Software\Msm7kCpuSpeed.
Edit the values as below:
BootTime = 90000 (This is important. This value gives enough time for the
phone to fully boot up. The phone has to fully boot up
before the OC kicks in)
CheckTime = 20 (Stable at 20, otherwise yoyos between base and OCed
cpu speed)
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel = 35 (This speed is stable for me without SOD)
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel = 27
SettlingTime = 10
Intiger = 416.5933 Moves/25 usec.(At stock speed Intiger = 332.6351)
Floating point = 9.56 MWIPS. (At stock speed Floating point = 7.47 MWIPS)
I haven't tested it but this should also work on SEX1 and Touch Diamond.
OVERCLOCK AT YOUR OWN RISK.
ok thats Qzytor post which is really great and i'm very thankfull for this
this is my setting and i try this on energy and valkyrie rom working on xperia
BootTime = 90000
CheckTime = 20
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel = 39 (thats 744mhz and it's stabel for me )
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel = 27
SettlingTime = 10
but i'm using msm7kcpuspped v1 not v2 .....
you don't need to plug in the phone especially when the phone boots up (thats was may first mistake i never wait the phone to fully boot up , and i was allways presing some buttons and that's way my phone was freezing so just wait and you will see for yourself
it's working stable but only plug in to ac adapter ....the speed is quite impresive ..
X1 freeze even on AC Adapter
Can't get this app to work on my x1 even on ac adapter.
Each time I try to adjust the speed my x1 will freeze immediately and I had to hard reset it. It's even freeze when I underclock it.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong with it? By the way I'm using WM6.5.3 ROM. Could this be the reason?
Thanks.

What numbers do you use?
BootTime =
CheckTime =
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel =
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel =
SettlingTime =
Results
634mhz:
387
9.150
stock:
330
7.756
I dont know what it means
i use
BootTime =90000
CheckTime =20
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel =36
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel =27
SettlingTime =10
and i use it for two days without any SOD ...but i think this is the max what xperia can achieve ...becouse any other setting above performance level 36 is SOD or restart ... but performance was quite impressive ...i will post the results later .... i can only say that performance in fpsece was better (playable) around 25-30 fps ..before 15-20
I don't understand this step: "Go to HKLM\Software\Msm7kCpuSpeed"
How to do that?

Use a registry editor to navigate to that "folder." If you google registry editor, you'll figure it out.
there is another tool for overclocking called OCT 1.5 , but i coludn't overclocked not even for 10 mhz , its allways frezes ,so if anybody can overclocked with this tool please let us know....
i use now xperia overclocked to 692 mhz in i see an improvement but i would like to overclocked to 768 mhz , ....if you have touch pro 2 is that quite easy to achieve (so it looks ) ...
so if anyone can explain to me what's the difference that they overclocked so high ?
