Hi!, i recently flashed my Arc (that is an prototype, a very complete prototype) to an official firmware (2.3.3).
But i have some problems, like i can't make a "factory restore" because i got a blue screen saying "aww snap ...."..
I can't unlock the bootloader, because i has tried with my code generated on SE website and i get an error message.
gingerbreak doesn't works
Super One click Doesn't works
I just can root downgrading to 2.3.2 , but when i do the update, the phone crashes with a blue screen dumping (that takes 10 minutes on finish).
I think that i never can root my xperia arc .
(if someone haves a solution please tell me )
oh yes, the question..
I have runned a benchmark tool(Quadrant Standard) and in the system info i get this CPU values:
Current freq 1024 MHz
Max freq 1024 Mhz
Min freq 122.88.
If my cpu is running on the maximum performance, that's not good for my battery life, and i can imagine that i can't down the clock if i don't root the device.
I have the same max freq. as you so it should not be overclocked and I'm not having any battery life issues.
Are you having battery life issues?
hmm nope, the battery life is about 2 or 3 days depending of the use.
The CPU clocks up as and when needed (this is called scaling), mainly it should drop to around 256mHz (i think) when not in use ad jump up to the maximum if its required, if it is at 1024 all the time it may be that there is something running ie an app that is forcing the CPU to stay up at that speed.
easy way to check cpu activity : ''cpu spy'' from market simple and does what you want

Hi all..
Are you ready to unleash the hidden Power of your HTC Hero??
many have used CPUOverclock, but faced a lot problems regarding Battery life, right? well, here is how you can balance it. and make the battery stay longer with the same performance
you also can configure Android internal task killer to boost your ROM even more http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622666
NOTE: this guide requires that your phone is rooted !!
Step 1: you need 2 applications "Overclock widget" and "Spare Parts" << download both from Market.
Step 2: add "Overclock widget" to any homescreen. click on it then click on "Advanced Settings" and set the Frequencies as following:
Screen On:
Max: 528000
Min: 528000
check the "differ freq Screen .." button.
Screen Off:
Max: 384000
Min: 245760 << you can put it to 128000 to save more battery, but lagges Music sometimes.
go down the list and click on "Save"..
Finally, Step 3: (not needed on 2.x ROMs)
go to the app "Spare Parts" and find "End Button Behavior" and set it to "Go to Sleep"..
you are done
Explanation: HTC made the CPU at 384 MHz and automatically overclock to 528 MHz if needed (both screen ON or OFF). this actually affects the Usability of the Phone
this method will make the CPU at best when screen is ON, and saves a looooot of battery when screen is OFF.
Statistics: using SoftWeg Benchmarking app (in the market) :
Stock ROM 2.73:
different tests:
CPU total score: 125-130
Modaco ROM 3.0:
different tests:
CPU total score: 121-130 << that's why I changed back to rooted Stock 2.73
Stock 2.73 with this method:
different tests:
CPU total score: 170-178 !!!
kaguDroid 1.2.1 with this method:
different tests:
CPU total score: 220-282 !!!
I used it on KaguDroid1.2 and the Live wallpapers performed better and no lagges .. but I forgot to take benchmarks numbers
GPU benchmarks were improved too, but I focused on CPU more.
I'm in the process of making an Eclair ROM with SenseUI (that supports Arabic) and if someone could help me make the Kernel perform like this by default without this method, please PM me ASAP !!!
the good app name is Overclockwidget and needs root

Another Tip if you are scared of overclocking or alongside overclocking
@ MaXo64 - can you add this to the first post please?
& ALL
You can also do what is on this thread (by androcheck). No overclocking required (you can if you really want to) and it makes your UI SUPER-FAST even the custom rom makers are now adding it to their configs.

didn't Lox fixed the battery drain in 1.2.1??
I can see an instant improvement with these settings! (I'm using MCR 3.1)
Thanks dude!
when i first started this on my MCR3.2 Hero, settings were were you suggested to be. is this normal? so i didn't have to set anything.
actually this does nothing whatever freq i set.

true, but make sure to set the "Spare Parts" thingy, so the CPUOverclock know that your phone is really in "Sleep" mode. or your battery will drain..
total CPU score here 279.571 (using kagudroid)
So, if we compare this:
Screen On:
Your Setting: 528 MHz
HTC default: 384-528 MHz
Screen Off:
Your Setting: 245-384 MHz
HTC default: 384-528 MHz
So with your settings, we can only save battery if screen is off? If screen is on, with your setting, i need more battery than the default value? But it runs evertime at full speed...
Am I right with this?
You're absolutely correct . Yup it just turns on full powern screen-on and saves battery when screen off.

Spare parts is not working on 2.1 roms......

But, how can I test, if the "clocking" works correct? Because the Widget doesn't work really good (i read this in the forum) and with screen off i can't see the widget^^

exactly, but you get the advantage of no lagging caused by auto-clocking as in HTC settings.
experience this for two days and you'll see .. you'll love your phone a LOT
cm7 said its default cpu speed is set at 1000mhz.. but when i use quadrant standrad/ quick system info to check my cpu range, it shows that my cpu is at 800MHz.. I have checked my settings both in the cyanogen settings and the boot menu.. i am choose 1000MHz .. but the cpu is still stick at 800MHz.. How can i turn it to 1000MHz, may i use setvsel ??
anyone help??
during bootup, press volume down key when you see the LED in "Blue". You can find a Overclock menu, adjust accordingly.
I notice Milestone OC, n SetVSel doesn't save settings on CM7-Defy
i have try that.. but the setting in bootmenu did not really apply ...
no matter i press set default or save..
Hi,
I'm using cm7-110615-1323-BOOT177-Jordan.zip and everything works as it should.
I'm using the widget called "Temp+CPU V2" from the Market and it showes clocks between 300 and 1000 MHz. CPU-load, Temp and used RAM also works fine.
Make sure you don't have your middle frequency set to 800. For some reason that was causing me similar problems, but all has been good since I changed the middle freq to 790...

It doesnt work..my cpu and battery vsel setting still at the stock value.. which is 33/300,48/600,58,800
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
When I look at system settings it shows the following
Current (300-1000)
Min (300)
Max (800)
Min is 300, Max is 800. However current has been 300 - 1000. So this measures the current setting and it can be higher than the 'max'.
Try another tool to measure your cpu freq, setvesl has a decent one.

Hello,
I have just flashed AOPK 4.0.3 and Franco 4.0.3 to my GN but it looks abit more laggy and the battary looks like its draining abit faster, is that due to the fact its less then a day on the device? will it be better? can someone explain how to use the Performence tool on this rom ?
Max Cpu/Min Cpu and Scaling governer
Voltage Control
Thx
1) Try a factory reset. Some times there are bits and pieces left over from your previous ROM. Standard ROM procedure.
2) if Step 1 doesn't work, reflash everything. Sometimes a bit here and there is off, resulting in a bad flash. It will only give you problems when those bad bits are needed, causing crashes or battery eating program loops.
3) If that doesn't work, redownload the ROM/Kernel. Verify the MD5 and flash that.
4) If you're having the exact same problem when trying all 3 steps, then it might be a ROM problem and you should contact the ROM dev and explain the problem and ask what you need to do to help him. However, it might not be a problem the dev can fix. Sometimes you have a phone that doesn't work with ROM X when the cell network equipment for Carrier Y in your area is provided by Company Z. Try another ROM/Kernel combo. Eventually, you will find something for you.

The lag may be caused by something as simple as your phone does not like the default setting for either the governor or the max cpu frequency. I would recommend to lower the max cpu setting and see if that helps. If not, try increasing the min cpu setting or change the governor to Ondemand or Performance and see how it works. If none of this helps, try a different kernel.
Good luck
Something that i did notice is the now and before the flashing my ram is still 300 only available and 370 used, is there a way to make it lower? thats after reboot...
Another questions is, my friend have a SG2 with Lite'ning rom on it, and his colours are AMAZING he still doesnt have ICS but he runs faster then my fresh nexus, how can i atlist make my colours as vivid as his? Thx
Bumped once, can someone answer please?
my friend's SG2 also show 850mb ram total and by a press of a butten it clears to 600 ram free and 250 working. why our phone shows only 750 and on my only 300 free all the time and 350 buzy while nothing working...
So, I have installed ExtremeKernel3 on my phone, together with EliteGamer 2.0.
And to the question. Apparently the ExtremeKernel overclocks the processor. But how do I know if my phone is overclocked or not? Is the overclocking made automatically, when I install the kernel? Or do I have to do anything else to overclock it? I just don´t know how it works.
U can use "no frills CPU" to overclock ur cpu

Overclocking means that you can set phone's clock speed more then manufacturer default speed. For Xperia Play deafult clock is 1GHz.
Term "overclocking enabled kernel" means that value of clock speed is higher then in deafult (stock) kernel.
To be able to have use of that higher speed, you need an app that take take of clock speed. For example No-frills CPU Control There you set speed of your clock.
What value of clock you can set is determined in kernel. for example, in stock kernel you can set 1GHz and below, in DoomLord kernel you can set up to 2GHz and in Lupus kernel you can set up to 1.6GHz. Remember that doesn't mean your phone can work at that high speed - it is invidually on each phone how much overclocking each phone can take before it just don't work anymore (for example, my phone can't get past 1.8GHz, it can work on 1.7GHz only when on charger, but it is stable on battery on 1.6GHz)
The reason devs make overclocking kernel is to give an option how much max clock speed you can set. But that doesn't mean you should do this by any means, because, even it can work on higher clock, it can be bad for cpu if you do it on long period of time.
With higher clock, phone drain more current from battery, wich means overheating can lead to degrading battery life, shortening cpu and/or electronics lifespan in general
But, with overclocking you could shorten electronic lifespan from 10 years to 4 years, and nowdays hardware became obsolete in only few years, and that's why lot of people don't care about danger that overclocking bring.
If previous text was TL;DR, here is short version:
Kernel gives you option what is MAX speed you can set, with an app you choose what clock speed you want to use

Hi Everybody,
After v45 update, we all are facing huge drop in performance in our Redmi 1s.
One of my dear provided one patch by modifing some system files.
But that patch will yes revert back the performance BUT IT WILL ALSO BRING BACK THE OVERHEATING ISSUE.
So i am presenting you all with this patch.
It will restore your performance and also will control overheating.
NOTE: THIS MOD ONLY CONTROLS MAX CPU+GPU FREQUENCIES AT HIGHER BATTERY TEMPS. SO IT WONT HARM BATTERY PERFORMANCE AT ALL.
How to do:
NO ROOT IS NEEDED NOW.
JUST FLASH ZIPS EVEN THROUGH STOCK RECOVERY.
How to undo:
Just flash undo zip.
Download:
Updated in attachments as recovery flashable zips.
NOW IT CAN BE FLASHED THROUGH STOCK MIUI RECOVERY.
What have i done:
(1) somebody ask me to remove some of the line from the file but if we remove them our redmi will start overheating as it wont control the cpu.
So i have not removed them but i have set them to frequencies which will neither make phone overheat nor will hang it.
(2) file is patched with little help from my nexus.
(3) in the v45 update the cpu was limited to use less than 1ghz. It hangs the phone. So i changed it.
Now reboot and you device will go easy.
Please comment if you find any issue or suggestions.
A thanks will motivate me.
Also if you want to use my mod in any rom then plz give credits.

My Nexus
Update (17-11-14)
1. Removed density data from patch. Now only used cpu and gpu to control it.
2. Uploaded Hard Gaming, Power saving and Balanced patch for specific usage.
3. Cleaned and power saving based on original parameters.
What have i done :
Lets have a close look at the original \system\etc\thermal-engine-8226.conf file:
algo_type monitor
sensor batt_temp
sampling 1000
thresholds 380 390 420 500 550
thresholds_clr 370 380 400 450 500
actions cpu+hotplug_2+hotplug_3 cpu+hotplug_3 cpu+hotplug_3 cpu cpu
action_info 998400+1+0 998400+1 787200+1 600000 600000
In above lines, the sensor is batt_temp so here battery temperature is observed.
When the temperature of bettery reaches 380 (i.e. 38*C) then cpu+hotplug_2+hotplug_3 will be performed. Means cpu will clock at 998400 mhz and core2 will be hotpluged. Here your device will start hanging as 1.6 ghz cpu is asked to run at only 0.998 ghz with core2 hotpluged.
Similarly, at 390 (i.e. 39*C) core3 will also hotpluged.
35*C is normal temperature. But you will reach around 39-40*C even at light internet browsing/gaming.
At 42*C your cpu will die with only 0.787 ghz speed. This is less than half of 1.6 ghz.
Now what have i done is i have pushed the limits to little high level.
I have stopped hotplugging of cores and to low down the temp. i have used cpu & gpu both.
algo_type monitor
sensor batt_temp
sampling 1000
thresholds 390 410 420 450 550
thresholds_clr 380 400 410 440 500
actions cpu+gpu cpu+gpu cpu+gpu cpu+gpu cpu+gpu
action_info 1344000+450000000 1344000+320000000 1190400+320000000 787200+200000000 600000+200000000
Here at 39*C the cpu will go to 1.34 ghz but the gpu will remain at max of 450 mhz.
Then at 41*C the cpu will remain at 1.34 ghz but gpu will lower down to 320 mhz.
Likewise, at 420*C the cpu will go to 1.19 ghz and gpu will remain the same.
Above 45*C is too hot so the device is really needed to cool down. So above 45*C both cpu and gpu will lower down a lot for enough cooling.
Again when the temperature with lower down, you will start getting the normal speeds.
All the above information is also observed closely with the help of cpu-z apk.
is it really works ??????
why you didn't just simply configure the ondemand governor to do the same thing? Is more easy and can be done manually or using Trickster mod.
Thanks a ton for the patch but flashable zip file be a lot easier to install. So please make a flashable zip.

Ya but as per me if we have limited something in the thermal config file to behave at a specific battery temp. then we can not use any app or mod to change the cpu frequencies.. I have tried that also..
Also this mod controls cpu+gpu+dencity at specific battery temps...

I also had same questions so me and my friend have tested it with the help of cpu-z app...
Cpu-z app gives you details of your battery temp. and your current cpu clock speeds. Set governor to performance and start playing games like need for speed... Then in between checked the temp of the battery and the cpu clock speed ...
It really works it changes the frequencies as per specific temps...

Nice....now i can use the phone @1.6Ghz without heating !!

Thanks Man for this
In a sense. But you cannot run your cpu at 1.6ghz continuously for a very long time.. Every cpu will get overheat.
Here i have tried to make some balance between the performance and heat.
What miui did.. They just tried to limit us to use at 0.99 ghz when temp is above 38.c so i have pushed that limit to high level with help of other factors like gpu and density etc.
So simple you will not be limited if you go at a high limit of temp.. After that slowly slowly cpu gpu and density will be limited and cpu will cool down...

Thanks for your post it is helpful.
I tried it. Given better improvement.
Ram performance better
No heating
But
Battery life poor
Can u rectify
Please
What to do to RAM management with thermal control guys??
It have nothing to do with ram dear its totally cpu+gpu+density hack...
Also, this hack comes into action when you overuse your cpu and it starts heating... But at normal usage it only improves your performance at no extra battery cost...
Simple there is no use of having 1.6 ghz if you are limited to use only 0.988 ghz over 38 degrees... I have extended this limit only... As this limit is manadatory for cooling process...
