hello Friends,
i have bought HTC desire from United Kingdom over superetrader
normally im living in turkey. i've sent the cellphone to one of my friend in UK
and she brought cellphone to turkey.
yesterday at my first try ive put my sd card and sim card and opened it. But on the screen ive seen "No sim card in phone" moreover i got "Removed SD card , insert a new one"
i believe card slots not working well and there is hardware problem occured. does anyone know how to fix that problem ? any idea?
by the way, my friend got all the things in the box . but didnt take the box with herself.. so i have all the material and Invoice but no box.
since i bought the cellphone from U.K. i dont know what to do exactly for warranty. im desperately needed the suggestions.
thank you for your help
Have you tried formatting your SD card via your phone or OS? Try both and then check if it is detected.

i have tried one 512 mb micro sd, and one 8gb micro sd. the original one was 4gb micro sd. allof them have worked with my HTC touch HD. but none of them detected with Desire. desire only says , no SD CARD please insert SD card.
same issue happened at my sim cards too. when i plugged my sim cards desire says " No sim card inserted." im sure i bought unlocked version.
Has to be an issue with the phone then... have you tried a hard reset? Other than that, to me, it sounds defective and would replace it if under warranty.

When you purchased it, did it not come with a Warranty booklet?
If not, then i think you should contact them via their support email address:
[email protected]
Explain that you ordered it from them and you suspect it may be defective, ask why you did not receive a warranty with your purchase.
More information on returns here:

as you said im gona call them tomorrow. but there is only one thing that concerns me. ive left the box to the trash. i've only got the S/N, P/N IMEI part of the box. (ive cut it ). do you think that might be a problem for Warranty?
i have everything in the package , Invoice and S/N part of the box. i hope that would be enough for Warranty. i will be appreciate for the answers.

As long as you return everything and the items (phone and accessories) do not have any superficial damage then that should be ok for them to accept and replace. If unsure, read their returns guidelines and call them to explain your situation.
They should accept your item as a return as you will be in the 'cool-off period'.
Their website actually states that no warranty booklet in included in the box, but still question them about this and state you expected one.

If it's brand new, maybe you need a new sim or a new mainboard?

This. If the SIM failed in the new phone, I'd try a new SIM.

have you ever though, might actually be your SIM that is defective instead of the phone?
it's extremely unusual for a phone SIM card slot to be defective twice
have you tried your SIM card on another phone?
Ugggggggh.

how did you know it's a brand new one ?
I've been told that samsung won't replace phones ,IDK
Why have you still not replaced the Sim card when everyone is telling you that is probably what it is?

its not my sim card. i put it in my bro's s2 and it works. other sims dont work. they said its the sim prong reader thats messed up. i dont have the reciept so i cant do it through tmobile. i already sent it in to samsung. when it came back, the sim was a little loose in the tray. its probably that. cuz the sim trays not broken. it keeps reading searching.
you can put a little piece of paper on it to keep it in place
also make sure you did put the SD card facing out
the cut corner should be facing out, not inside
Where did you buy the phone from? Did the Sim ever work in the phone? If it has, and it's not a used phone, T-Mobile's system will automatically see the warranty in the system.
Otherwise, if you have the php bundle on your T-Mobile account, T-Mobile will replace it under warranty anyway...regardless what the system shows for warranty information.

nope the sim never worked. the sim prongs where messed up when i got it.
searching for how long?
first start always takes a long time to find the network..
more than hours. its sent back for another repair
Okay, so I got my Galaxy Nexus today... went to put my SIM card in, and it refuses to acknowledge it. I thought maybe it was due to a very old SIM card, so I went in to T-Mobile, explained my situation, and they replaced it with a new SIM card free of charge. Problem is... the Nexus still REFUSES to read it. It keeps saying 'No SIM/Emergency Calls Only'. Help please?
Is the phone new or used? And do you have warranty? It could be because of the phone
It's used. It came pre-rooted with AOKP on it... I was thinking this might be the problem? So, I'm in the middle DLing the GNexRootToolkit to return it to complete stock, and see if that helps. Any other thoughts?
are all the pins there? If any of the pins in the SIM slot are bent or broken, it won't read the SIM.
I also find it hilarious that people buy used phones without knowing for sure the SIM slot works (one reason to only buy locally for used devices). I personally will never buy a used phone that is also rooted/unlocked/ROM'd. I don't wanna get some hand-down phone that's been messed with. If they can't be bothered to return it to stock, I won't buy it.
Okay, that seemed to fix it. Thank you for the quick replies!
Can't believe you bought a phone without checking if it worked. Smh. Well, glad it worked out for you.

what was your fix? i'm having a similar issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707311
My HTC ONE X now cannot detect SIM card. does anyone have similar problem?
When I insert a SIM, the phone show SIM card or the SIM Card cannot be detect.
I have tried three different cards, all with the same issue.
I am in Canada, and the phone is the HK version. Can I still contact HTC?
I have rooted the phone via htcdev.com. Will they charge alot for fixing the phone?
Thanks
Either the phone needs to be GSM unlocked or you may have a hardware problem, meaning the SIM slot is broken or came in pluged

And htcdev.com doesn't root htc devices it unlocks the bootloader. Make sure your not putting the SIM card in backwards or upside down

Oh, yea, I meant unlock bootloader.
I think there is only one way you can put the SIM in and insert the tray.
Will HTC charge for unlocked bootloader device like this defect?

You mean to repair it? I would try to get it repaired locally. Are you sure the phone isn't just locked to it's original carrier? If it is unlocked you need to consider how it was unlocked some methods of unlocking can void warranty, also check that site to see if it says any about voiding the warranty. That if you really want HTC to fix it and good luck with that if you do, they more then likely they will want you to file a warranty claim through the original carrier which you don't have an account with. Let say they did let you send it in, they may just sent it back saying warranty voided because of customer abuse if there is any physical damage to the SIM card slot.

I am sure it is an unlocked one. I can get cell signal sometime with my SIM, but a minute or two later, the "Cannot detect SIM" error message pops out. I guess there is lossy connection.
I will try to find a local store see if they can fix it first. Thanks for the advice.
And if I want to buy the parts for reading the SIM on ebay, does anyone know what it is called and what should I search for?

You can also try bending the sim card tray so that you get better contact with the pins in the reader... Be VERY careful if you do that, the sim try is made of very soft metal and can brake very easily.

Thank you guys so much. I think I have fixed the problem. No signal drop in the last 30 minutes!!
I opened the case today, however I forgot to take out the SIM card tray. When the case was apart, the tray was already very bended. I carefully bended it back a little (not completely flat), and randomly messed the SIM card reader up a bit with the pry tool.
I booted up the phone without the case, and applied gentle force to the SIM. AND IT WORKED.
After closing the case, I still got full signal strength.
I hope this can permanently solve the problem.
Thank you guys for the help!

SIM card Tape and Untape
Hello everyone,
This worked for me and it may work for you.
As this thread suggested, I applied several layers of clear adhesive tape to the back of the SIM card. I was nearly unable to re-insert the SIM card and the train into the phone.
After 3 days, this did not fix the problem.
Next, I removed the tape from the SIM card and re-inserted it into the phone. Problem solved!

How they blocked, when I check phones IMEI I can see it, so T-Mobile can actually blocked the phone so people shouldn't use it? is that mean I can use Att Sim card?

Yes t mobile can block the imei if the phone has been stolen or not paid for completely and the person stopped paying installments on it they can block the imei. But no this does not mean you can use it on att unless you unlock it or flash as people call it

I had a similar problem with my old Galaxy S2 and it turned out to be a bad Sim card slot. You should go to a nearby cell phone store and have them check it. It usually costs around $30 dollars to fix. You can also check if its a bad sim card by inserting it on a different phone and see if it gives you the same error.
Honestly tmobile would of helped more if you bought it from them. While yeah it might be a simple sim lot issue or maybe your putting it the wrong way who knows lol. By guess would be you bought it from a person and they messed it up then try to sale it to you, but really if it was from a store just get it replaced.

Hello guys,
My Desire HD fell today, since that SIM card isn't recognized. I tried to fix the problem, picking up on duct tape and taped around the sim card to get thicker but this isn't a solution. I need help because its the only phone I have.
Many thanks,
Maybe your SIM Card is bricked? :crying:
Do you already tried Reinstalling ?
Maybe its Magic. But I think you have to let it repair by a Profi.
Chris
SIM cards do go bad from time to time. All you might need is a new one. Go to your carrier and replace it, its free.

Hello guys,
I think it's not sim-card problem because I can use it on other phones.
I've done a restore of the phone, but same problem.
I don't know what can I do to fix this problem.
So, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy SIII and I use the same sim-card as before. I really want to fix this problem because I want to give my phone to someone.
Cheers,
:good:
