how to install rom for bootrom 0.80 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! all. i've read up abt rooting & installing custom ROM for desire. attempting to root it soon but would like clarification on custom ROM installation. i read up at the unlockr.com & the vidz shows how to install ROM to desire but it mentions in its step & vidz that i need a file call recovery-windows.bat in the rooting zip file but i don't see it in my rooting zip file which i've downloaded. is this because the procedure is different? if yes, then is there a tutorial for install rom for bootrom 0.80?
Also read that after rooting & installing ROM, the camcorder function doesn't seem to work. is this true?

Follow the instructions in this guide for installing a 2.1 based ROM with bootloader 0.80:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
The camcorder not functioning was an issue on Froyo 2.2 based ROMs, but this has now been fixed.

[Q] Getting started, with.... everything.

Hello,
I have a Desire HD, and I am looking to root, however, I have some concerns,
(I'm hoping that a list is not too boring!)
1. I have the 1.72 update
2. I have no idea, whatsoever on how to back up my current config, without rooting my device (and possibly loosing everything)
3. How to root using visionary? ....
4. Installing ROM When finished?
5. Is there some sort of start to finish n00b proof guide?
Thanks,
T
Hi,
you're on 1.72 so you need to downgrade first.
Follow this excellent guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
After this you have 1.32.405.3 Stock firmware and you're able to root using visionary+.
Ok, so after that, could i install MIUI First, straight off?
Or do i have to go to stock first?
After downgrading and rooting, you have to set ENG S-OFF and Radio S-OFF and then you can flash MIUI.
Please read the guides @ Android Development Forums.

[Q]How to quit the DHD without roots and s-off and with the original rom?

Hello, I am new to Android, but still decided to risk installing a rom, I did create all the procedures from a gold card after downgrade, root, then do the s-off and finally install the rom Android Revolution HD 3.3. Thank God everything worked out.
Now I have a huge doubt, if I sell my phone and want to leave it "raw" or how he came to Fabricated without root, without s-off, and no custom rom what should I do?
Sorry for my english, but I live in Brazil and I'm using Google translator. I thank you all.
To get back to stock:
- Please search the forum
- Find one of the numerous posts about the subject
- Follow the instructions
there are SEVERAL topics about it, to make it short:
-flash the original RUU
-root
-achieve s-on by same tool you s-offed your device
-unroot
-sell
regards!
Guess Shortest procedure should be
1 . Radio S-Off using Jkolijo's tool
2. Install latest official Ruu
you should be good to go

You should do s-on, not off and thiagodark already posted the instructions even though they can easily be found by searching.

i need steps to follow
1 - root
2 - S-Off
3 - Official RUU
Etc , just the steps to follow and then i will read it's topics...cuz i don't what should i do first
1st of all to root ur phone u need to downgrade to 1.32 follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
then to root i personally prefer a command line approach as u have more control vs an automated tool on what its actually doing, so try this guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#VERIFY_.28using_.22gfree_verify.22.29
all the links to files u will need are in the guide.
after that u will be downgraded , rooted , S-OFF , super cid and clockworkmod installed.
for the clockworkmod step id flash Version 3.2.0.0 from the forums, instead of the 3.0.2.5, in the guide, as its the most recent official version.
link to CWM 3.2.0.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003723
do a Nandroid backup and install a ROM , dunno bout the official RUU roms as i dont use them myself, and if ur going to all this trouble to Root ur device, u might as well try some of the excellent custom ROMS, alot of the Sense roms r very close to stock and support arabic.. Ive used Leedroid & ARHD which are sense based and try'd Miui roms and currently back using Cyanogenmod7-Nightly

[Q] Hboot

Hello there,
As first I wanted to welcome everyone from Desire Z forums, as I'm moving from Leo section
I'm a bit confused:
I've followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261
At the end there's information that I can install any ROM available, however there's also the matter of HBOOT.
Do I need to install HBOOT aswell to be able to flash custom roms?
EDIT: NVM. Post for deletion.

the guide has you download a PC10IMG.zip, that file contains the HBOOT. As long as that was installed and you have full root and s-off( to for s-off check power on by holding power on and volume up and look at the to) you can flash any ROM.

[Q] How to install andriod ics on desire z??

Can anyone help me how to install ics on my htc desire z ? now its running on 2.3.3
There's Google and there's the search button you could have used.
Anyways you will have to root this first. Follow either of these guides
downgrade
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
then root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
or
downgrade
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/TMobile_G2:_Firmware_Downgrade_(Gingerbread)
then root
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/TMobile_G2:_Rooting
After rooting the phone, you can choose any ICS ROM in the development section. The installing procedure all will be similar to this
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/insta...desire-z-android-4-0-with-jibwich-custom-rom/
You should look here to find how to root your phone and then install the rom you want.
