Windows Mobile 6.5 Issue - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hi All,
We have a c++ application which allows signatures to be entered and then stored as bmp files for POD. This all works fine on WM5 but when upgrading to 6.5 the bmp created is all white, instead of black on white.
We had a similar issue with a CE device where the bmp created was all black and this was resolved by amending the dialogue box color setting in windows appearance (display properties). Is there anything similar that may need to be changed in WM6.5?
Thanks for any help on this.
Steve

Readable SmartDialer in B&B v3.7

Hi!
I've made some changes to the phone skin and the registry settings to make the SmartDialing more usable, at least in my opinion. I also posted this information in the B&B v3.7 release thread, but since that threat has become so large, it is hard to find just the information you are looking for. So I thought I start a new thread on this issue.
There has been many questions and opinions about the color of the smart dialer included in B&B v3.7. Most of the persons with questions did find the text hard to read, due to the low contrast between the text and the gray background. I tried to tweak the registry settings in HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartDialing to get it better, but the problem was really the dark gray background, so I thought I should try to do something about it. The result is is what you see in the attached screenshots. The registry settings and changed skins is attached.
Copy the BMP's in the zipfile to windows of your device (with a software that can overwrite files in ROM, e.g Resco Explorer or total commander) and import the registry changes (e.g with Resco).
Regards,
PK

I think such thing is not possible under WM6 or any version

Theme change doesnt take complete effect

I just installed WM6 on my P3300 (WM6 version from HTC website). When I changed my theme to "windows default" from "HTC default" it changes the today theme colors, etc. The problem is things like the dial pad, comm manager, etc stayed in the HTC default colors.
Anyone know how to fix this?
You tried soft resetting?
Thanks for the quick reply. I have soft reset, I have powered down completely too.. nothing works.
I went through my windows directory and it seems that I am missing the files. Does anyone have the "windows default" theme files for WM6 that they could upload?
Thanks

Omnia 2 issues...

Hi there,
I've developed and app under VS 2008, VB.Net and CF 3.5 SP1, targeted to 2003SE.
So far so good, as it has been tested in many PDA and Phones and not a single problem, except that on an Samsung OMNIA 2 running WM 6.5, some fields are rendered white on white!
Let me explain better, some forms contains a grid, where some cells are white on white and JUST ONE is black on white!
Same happens with textboxes, comboboxes, etc
In short, happens in some places while not in others.
Any ideas of what this is happening?
It's a general problem this rendering issue?
Honestly, don't have a clue of the possible reason
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Samsung have configured a custom Windows theme on the Omnia II with the colors inverted. You can try to just change the Windows theme and revert to default color scheme. More professional sollution: draw your controls by yourself to make them always appear the same no matter what theme is selected. But I'm not familar with VB so I can't tell how to....
If RAMMANN is right, change the ForeColor property of the grid away from 'WindowText' to a specific custom value.
WindowText is the value cascaded down from the overlying theme.
A custom value will override it.

.NetCF C# App has no Icon

Hey Guys,
I post a lot in the CDMA Hero forums, but I am having a little problem with a Windows Mobile App at work.
I have an .ICO file for the project, it has 12 Icons in the one file of all different sizes. When the solution is built and deployed to 1 model of device the Icon does not show in the program list. The icon shows fine on 6 other models of devices, but not on this one. Also I noticed that through file explorer, the EXE has the correct icon.
The device is a Symbol PPT8800 OS: PPC 2003.
Can you guys think of anything that would cause this Icon not to show up on this device? Are their limitations to PPC 2003 and resolutions of icons?
I don't know about WM2003, but in recent versions of WM the shell automatically extracts the correct size icon to display depending on device resolution/dpi. Is the device QVGA? What sizes of icons are in the file?

So device's screen specs from the manufacturer are:
â– Transflective color TFT-LCD, 65K colors,
240 (W) x 320 (L) (QVGA size)
6 of the images in the ICO are 8 bit
other 6 are 32 bit.
Would this need to have a 16 bit(~65k) variant as well?
Bump
Any other ideas on this? We are beating our heads against the wall.
I have tried every combination of sizes and colors and transparency. We are at a complete loss for this particular device.
How about extracting the icon from an executable that displays correctly on that device (use reshacker or whatever) and comparing it's attributes to your icon?
Can we have the ico file so we can have a look at it?
Did you ever get it sorted out?
Sorry guys, I just actually got this fixed today.
I took the transparency off of all the icons in the file and added a set of 16 bit.
This still didn't fix it until I actually OEM Reset the device, then reinstalled and it worked. I am not sure if adding the extra icon's actually did anything still or if it was the hard reset wiping some sort of cache or store.
I still really don't know how these things work as far as that goes.
I'll stick with my Android
Thanks for the advice though!
Well at least it's working now
