Phone Dialer Backgrounds & Carrier logo

Hey Guys,
Dunno about you, but I've installed the T-mobile NL latest ROM - but - and a big BUT -
Who designed that dialer skin!?
Attached are 2 nice backgrounds I made (landscape and portrait), and a Carrierlogo for Orange Israel which looks really great.
Replace all 3 files in the windows directory.
Note: If you get problems with write access, try with "Total Commander" it seemed to work perfectly!
Btw, for nice buttons, elsewhere on these forums is ablackqsilver skin for the universal.. didn't have energy to design the buttons...
From what I understand, the nice dialler skins won't work on our Universals, so I guess we'll make our own

I'll be buggered if I can overwrite or delete the carrier gif file, I want to overwrite the 2 DLL's that contain the pink video buttn as well.....
Ayone go any ideas? tried in flight mode and with resco and total commander.

To change the button graphics
To change the buttons I first installedthe black/silver universal phone skin. It redirects the registry phone buttons to its graphics, and they are replaceable.
Works great for me and got rid of the pink buttons...

Well people who designed the T-Mobile dialer skin are Either colorblind or complete Arses....
I understand that you guys were able to get rid of it? to get back the original HTC Blue and green buttons ??
Can you please tell us all how to do it ??

The only way I can see to get rid of it 'completely' without loosing the Video button is to replace the 2 DLL's that contain the video button resources.
Unfortunately they are in ROM so it would have to be a cook of a new ROM.
I was thinking about giving it a go, but to be honest, just cannot be rsed, I'll leave it be until either HTC make the dialer completely skinnable to the end user or a new HTC (iMate/QTek) rom that is newer than the T-Mobile one is released.
I also don't like the other mods that TM do (to the start menu etc), but I've got rid of those, and everything else about the latest NL Tmobile WWE ROM rules, def the best one I've used yet.
So I'll live with the garish pink dialer for now...... unfortunately

Hello all. I never saw these posts before so I never knew how to change the dialer skins until I found the registry tweaks in the wiki area. I've attached a zip file of all the buttons on T-Mobile. I haven't really changed them. Just made the buttons rounder! ... Not much difference but it does look better. The only problem was that I couldn't change the Video button for some reason. I changed the background and the buttons by copying the files to the mda, either the extended ROM, the sd card (which could coz a problem if you remove it) or the mda's internal memory and then in the registry just change the location of the files. All the buttons are named the same as the original. This way you won't really have any problems and you can revert to the originals by just renaming the registry settings back to the "\Windows\" directory. The registry keys are in: "HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin" ... the "Dialer" directory holds all the buttons and background for when the dialer buttons are on the screen. The "Progress" directory holds the buttons and background for when you're in a call and the dial buttons are not visible. The keys that you have to edit are the bmp... entries. The default string is "\Windows\...bmp" just change them to wherever they are, like "\Storage Card\DialerSkin\...bmp", etc.
The only think I couldn't change was the Video buttons and the Operator logo. If the background you put up is not white or a lighter colour the logo looks retarded. I tried looking for the file "erlogo" but i didn't find it. However I did find a file called "Carrierlogo" in the Windows directory. I'm thinking of backing it up and then blanking it out. Don't really care about the logo. Anyways, I've added a zip file of the buttons I edited. I've also put up screenshots. You can change the buttons to whatever you want if you can design one. I tried looking for one but seems like no one is really making them for the MDA Pro's as the MDA Vario's and the like are more common. Anyways, hope I can get some help with the Video buttons and maybe some nice backgrounds for the dialer?!

Well if you want to get the default blue Windows Mobile dialer then just go to the Registry to: "HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin" and the entry for Enabled change it to "0" to disable the operator dialer or then "1" to enable it. If you disable it and reboot the MDA you'll see the original blue dialskin but you miss out on the video button. so no video calls can be made also the Smart Dial feature will not work if the blue dialer is used. I don't know why so don't ask! ... Hope this helps?!

I am happy with the default skin on the QTEK 9000 for example so all i have to do is copy all the files you have in that zip archive. from my Windows directory... and then I have a ready skin so I can actually go and use the t-mobile ROM...
I mean now since we know the file names, I hope your archive is complete havoc

About the buttons I meant you could take the originals and colour them different, instead of have the buttons curved like I posted previously you could have them a different shape, etc. I currently have my modified buttons and pics on the ExtendedROM which pretty much is a part of the inbuilt memory and so far it's working fine. I haven't noticed any slowness or sluggish behaviour. I'll try make some different buttons and post them up. ... Should be fun but time consuming. ... If you've seen the skins for the MDA Vario using the ETen Dialer, those are really sexy but that means one has to sit and make them for the MDA Pro. I'll try it out and post what I can get.

Well the buttons I modified were for the T-Mobile skin so I don't know what happens with the QTek as I've never seen the skin so try at your own expense. Mine is working great. Just changed the links to the locations. I noticed when I flashed the i-mate rom, the dialer was completely different. If you're going to flash your PDA with the T-Mobile ROM then you should try it out. Though I have never replaced the original files coz then if anything goes wrong I have to reflash so be careful. My archive is only missing the background pics which are named as "Bkgnd_land" and "Bkgnd_port" in the same Windows directory. I've posted the backgrounds as well but you can put anything you want as long as it's the right resolution. The one I use is always 640x480. However, I strongly advise you to copy these files in another folder on the PDA and not replace the originals. I placed mine in a folder in the ExtendedROM. Hi guys, I was messing around with the dialer buttons and if you take the bmp's that are in the zip file (or if you copy the ones that are in the Windows directories) and open them in paint (or the like) and colour the buttons "NmBtnUp_..." fully black and then in the registry only edit the "bmpNormal" under "dialbutton" to the black ones then after the reboot, your dialer buttons are invisible. Only thing you see are the numbers and alphabets. Pretty kool! ... I only did it for the "dialbutton" folders not the rest as in the erase, talk/end, or the verbbutton. Quite an interesting effect for the dialer depending on your background or your choice. Just thought I'd share. I also changed the really nice green backgrounds by "summoner" into dark grey (I hope you don't mind) and I've posted screenshots of them up. K! Thought I'd share my interesting discovery.

I managed to overwrite the carrierlogo.gif file from the explorer built in with "Pocket Controller - Professional" that I bought. It's a nice program. Little sluggish sometimes but i can use the MDA from the pc without touching it. By the way, what are you going to overwrite the 2 dll's with? Have you found a way to modify the video button?

Well if you exctract the cab and change the extentions to .bmp you get the buttons.... The nicest one I think is the O2 one

What you CANNOT do:
1. Redistribute the skin, modified or not with my signature file(Readme.txt) removed.
2. Modify any part of the skin and redistrbuted under your name.
3. Take all or part of the images that dont belongs to the original Kaiser for your skin.
Tested working with 838Pro running original Dopod WM6. If your dialer has been change or your device do not use the standard HTC dialer,I dont have any idea it will work. Oh..and I will not attempt to make it work for other Hermes not running official WM6 from Dopod. You can try it by backup your phone registry first, if it work, GREAT!. If it dontsimply uninstall it and restore your registry. As always, use it at your own Risk!

By studying your cab one would believe to see a pale copy of the dialer of Mun_rus, you just redraw the buttons, and now you would like a copyright of tone dialer , studies a little my dialer and you will see what to create wants to say.

dude.....feeling some competitions huh...I dont have your cab or mUn ROM so I cannot compare to yours and mUn. Now before you start saying something stupid why dont you show me if there is an EXACT same file from my images and those of yours and mun? I would be surprise if you can find ONE(ofcourse except those graphics that we can use from kaiser without any further tweaking)
If you are talking about resemblance...all the graphics are all ported from the original Kaiser it should look a like. The original Kaiser dialer DONT belongs to ANYBODY.
I would expect you to came back here with your prove OK? JUST ONE GRAPHIC. If not then that said it all.

play nice guys bc both of u have good and bad parts in ur dailers. i have both and both have been extracted from cabs and compared. schen urs has a good layout on the video calling. duron is more with the original kaiser theme if u look at that smart dialing and blue gradient. get ur dialers and put them together and make one.

duron is just a bit paranoid about this whole thing thinking that photoshop works is his biggest talent that none can do....
BTW I did think about designing to look exacly the same as Kaiser but it did not work. The hermes dialer has different layout. The Video Progress button screen for example will overlap. We might think that the "right" part of the main dialer is "cool" being covered with " dummy grey button", but that part of the screen has its own purpose for Hermes(picture display and Long Names and Numbers also will extend to the far right). It is not supposed to be covered.
So duron, what are you going to say....! I dont need your dialer...there are many flaw if I may say it frankly.

Skin the pinpad / security screen / dialer?

Hi,
I have searched all over, and could not find an answer...
Is there a way to skin the pinpad screen? I have WM6, and it still looks like WM5. Any way to make the buttons look a little more like the rest of the phone?
Also, is there an alternate dialer beyond the 'Kaiser-style'? I think that looks gross.
Any answers would be appreciated.

Have you tried using one of Schaps dialers? Search the forum or his threads on his roms to download a cab.

Not sure about the pinpad but in order to skin the dialer, you'll need to edit some files associated with the dialer.
There are about 100 picture files and 3-4 dll files associated with dialer and usually located in \Windows folder. You'll need to change the picture files and edit the dialogue of the dll files using resource hacker or similar programs.

Removing Horrible Green Hilight

Hi,
Can anyone advise of a cab or regedit which removes the nasty green hilight when you select things from the menu's and in touchflo?
I have searched this fourum and others for days and tried various cabs and regiedts but nothing seems to work for the Touch HD. I would like to make the Dialler and all selections red (looks nice on black) but cant find a way of doing it.
I know how to edit the .tsk theme to get the colour I want in the wm6 menu's but the dialler, large startmenu and touchflo remain green.
If anyone can help please post back.

Yes, u can change ths settings with HD Tweaks 0.5.4

Ok, But I have HD tweak 0.5.3 and it appears that 0.5.4 is only availiable in french.
As it is in French can you please confirm which setting allows it to be changed? (In French)

i think i have seen a thread about changing the highlight color in TF3D, search the forum
for the enlarged start menu, i don't have a clue how to change the highlight color for it
but for the dialer, i have found it somehow:
use regedit, go to:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE]
highlightColor="0x5AA200"
highlightTextColor="0xFFFFFF"
well, pretty self-descriptive.
just change the hex code to the color you want.

Sorry for the late reply. HD Tweaks 0.5.4 is now available in english. You can changethe green highlight.

Two columns in traditionaly home screen xml?

I've seen some orange home screen for spv c550 or c600 mobile. It has two columns and it is very helpfull home screen solution.
Have you tried yet to install that kind of home screen layout.

just google L-Columns.v2.home.xml and i found that you need some orange.dll but i don't know where to put it.
This theme mentioned above has facade and fizz weather in one column.

also orange default theme in SPV smartphone models has nice solution but you cannot access with xml. When i open orange.home.xml there are only few lines. Some basic stuff as title, icon bar and organge plugin function in couple of lines.

If someone figures out how to successfully create columns in a CPR I will be ecstatic. I have tampered with the Columns="" and Rows="" parameters in the Titanium CPR so much, and still can't find a way to do it. For now, I dont actually think it is possible to have a two-column or two-row CPR Homescreen (at the moment). I do hope this gets some attention (and maybe a solution)!

I've found solution and it works.
As i said just download L-Columns.v2.home.xml and install JRulez_OHSP.cab because it saves orange.dll somewhere in the phone.
Now i have RJTime (analog) clock and date on the left side of my home screen and SMS/MMS/Mail on the right side.
I still dont get why every uploaded theme and every thread about home screen design in this Excalibur subforum is about C-home theme.
My personal opinion is that you can create most powerfull theme, most "business one" theme in classic way, creating good xml theme with couple of plugins and couple of programs as RightKey etc.

xmarkom - Can you please upload these files to this thread, or post direct links to them. i would be very interested in making a theme using this concept (and adding it to my CycloneSkins collection). I tried google, but I couldn't find anything relevant.

ok but i'm seek of this titanium layout and sliding panels layout because everybody talk about that, and thats all the same thing.
xml traditional home layouts should be better.

Wouldn't agree and if i personally wanted a old home screen i'd stick with WM6 to which is cumbersom looks like a dinosaur and not as tweakable as 6.1 or 6.5.
Can you please upload the files that peeps asked for as a google search with that criteria will get them no where...
