Activesync not working after WM 5 installation

I have installed WM 5 on my XDA IIs about three hours back and since then trying very hard to make Activesync recognize my device. But alas!!! no luck...
When I put the device in the cradle, the Windows XP on my laptop detects a new device "Windows Mobile-Based Device" and asks me to install a driver. Ashtonishingly, the driver is not found automatically. So I tried for some time and found that it is looking for a file - rndismpx.sys. I searched my laptop for this file and found the file to be in \Windows\system32\drivers directory. I gave the path in the installation, but the installation aborts saying that the file is not found...
I have done the settings that the Wiki site said. But even after that my device is not being recognized by my laptop.
Any insights as to why is this happening... I did try and search the forum, but could not find anything specific.
Thanks,
Siddharth
Are you sure you're running Activesync 4.1 instead of 3.8?
I had the same problem too. But I didn t found a solution. Please help me too.

How install .NET 3.5 on the HD?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but a forum search revealed nothing...
How do I install .NET 3.5 on my Touch HD?
I have installed Advanced Congif , and it tells me i need to install .NET in order for it to work.
I downloaded the .net redistributable file from the MS website (filename is NETCFSetupv35.msi), but when I try to run it on my HD as I would with a .cab file, it tells me there's no associated program to run it.
I guess it has to be installed some other way (through ActiveSync maybe?), but I don't know.
Any helpful soul out there care to put me out of my misery?
Cheers in advance
Pete
Yes it has to be done through Activesync.
run it on your pc, and it will install on your device (or next time you connect if you're not connected when you run it)
It says on the microsoft download page...:
This package uses ActiveSync 4.0 to update the device. Before running NETCFSetupv35.msi, connect your device to your PC. If your device is not connected, ActiveSync will store the CAB file and will not install the package until you connect. If you are not using ActiveSync, run the CAB files on the device that correspond to the device–specific CAB files found in the install folder.

I did not use ActiveSync to install it. I can't remember where I found it, but it has some kind of "Microsofts digital signature", so I think it's the right one...

Thanks!
Thanks guys,
sorted, using the .cab (couldn't work out how to do it with Activesync).
Can't install :-(
Nooo! I have a problem...
I had some trouble with .NET CF 3.5, and then I wanted to reinstall it, but when I uninstalled it, and then tried to install it again, it didn't work.
It doesn't work through ActiveSync AND the cab. Do anyone know whats wrong here, or do I need to start a new thread?
Is your ActiveSyns up to date? And did you download the file from the mircosoftsite? I reïnstalled the file yesterday..

My ActiveSync is okay, and the cab is from the microsoft site...
EDIT:I think something is wrong with my phone, but I don't want to do a Hard reset.
Installed no problem if you use your PC to get the CAB just pop in onto the memory card, bung it in your phone and using file explorer locate file and install onto your device. Easeeee
Even easier would be to use PIE and visit this site/thread and follow the link to download directly onto phone then do above in File Explorer

cd software

i just purchased a tmobile dash/excalibur. im trying to install the cd for the active sync but i keep getting an error that the cd needs to have the adobe falsh player installed. i have uninstalled and installed a few times but no luck. is there another way aroung this?
I have never seen that error, but you may want to download the newest activesync while your at it. The current is 4.5 I believe. Also, you have tried to restart after install, right?
Yes just download from MS or explore the cd and install as it's only when auto run the cd you get that error.
when i explore the folders and install from there it nows says activesync cannot be installed on windows vista.
Go download Windows Mobile Device Center, it's Vista's version of Active Sync...
thanks guys it worked.

Error Message!!

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and Windows Mobile phones. I don't know if this question has been posted before, but I couldn't find it. When I install some programs, and try to run them, the following message appears, and suspends:
"An unexpected error has occurred. Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Detail for more information.
This application requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device."
Any solution to this?
TIA.
You can probably guess the solution from the error message itself. You need a newer version of .NET Compact Framework.
A quick search for "Microsoft .NET Compact Framework" will get you here.
yea i got it installed...thank you....actually i had come across that site before, but for some reason it wasnt installing on my device. anyway, after a soft restart of my phone as well as my computer, when i tried it again, it worked.
thanks.

Installation of cab files throws errors

Hi. I just recently purchased an HTC Touch Pro2 from T-Mobile running WinMo 6.5. That being said, I have not been able to open any cab files on the device to install some software. Basically I'll transfer the cab to the device and attempt to open it. I get one of three messages depending on the app I guess. the most basic is "Installation was unsuccessful" to "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting...not digitally signed...trusted certificate" (this was from MobileFTPClient). Installing Opera Mini 5 gives a simple: "Installation of mini5wm.cab was unsuccessful".
Ok, so being a software developer for 10 years I've been looking into some registry values and can't seem to find what I need to get anything to install. If I download from the Windows Marketplace that's all good, but nothing else.
What do I need to do to be able to install cab flils directly? Honestly if I can't get this to work this phone is going back. I moved from an iPhone to this phone specifically so I can install apps and monkey around with the device, but so far I'm done before I started.
Thanks for any info you can give me.
its in one of your phone/device settings to let u download and install apps or cabs not digitally signed. thats all, i believe. just find it and check it off. or look for advanced config cab if u can find it and install that. it has an option in there also to let u download/install whatever..

The cab I have attached may help you...it's some SDK certificates that will allow installation of certain unsigned apps, but I don't know if this is what the ones you're running are requiring and missing. It won't harm anything to try this one, and you can easily uninstall it if it doesn't do the trick
Thanks guys. Sirphunkee - that cab actually installed, but I'm having the same problem. Another forum has suggested that I take the device back to T-Mobile, but it just seems like there's a setting that's not right in the OS. Demandarin - I've looked for various security permissions in the UI with no luck. I've mucked around with some Policy values in the registry per some threads on this forum, but still nothing.
I'll keep trying, and thanks.
So...weird; Opera Mini and Weather Bug (well known apps) wouldn't install, but an SMS notification disable cab installed (from the xda site) as did Evernote (evernote.com). I have no clue what the deal is, but it's getting beyond stupid that I can't install just any cab file.

Have you already installed .Net 3.5? It's a framework that many other programs use (and need) to install, and it's not on the TP2 by default...it's the only other think I could think of that would keep you from installing stuff. Cab is attached, if you don't have it already.
Got it. I installed the Device Security Manager PowerToy and was able to change the configuration there. Opera Mini 5 just installed.
Never would have thought the phone would come that locked down, but so far so good. Thanks for all of the ideas.

Well yeah what's weird is that I never had to use that to get any of those apps installed
