No bootloader on HX4700 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi!
I've got an iPAQ hx4700, well I HAD one yesterday, now I think I've got a piece of metal with electronic inside (until I can fix it and use it). The problem is:
Yesterday I tried to install Sprite Backup on my iPAQ and it was stuck on the installation screen. I soft-reset it and it was stuck on the HP Invent screen. I tried to do a hard-reset and it got stuck on the screen that says"Please wait, cleaning data" (or something like that). I had Alkor 21054 rom with the Wifi patch. I saw that Alkor had made version 21057 and when it began to flash it suddenly said Error and a lot of numbers started to appear on the mtty.I took it out from the dock and soft-reset it and it didn't do Anything at all. Then I tried to enter the bootloader mode (iTASK+Contacts+Soft Reset) and anything again. The charging led doesn't blink when it's connected and my PC doesn't detect it. I know it's not dead because it has never fallen to the floor and it has never get wet, as I said, it was working yesterday.
Please help me.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried removing your battery will wait a few minutes and put it back?
After attempts to load and once loaded iPAQ tries to install a new ROM.
Alkor has a new ROM posted on XDA and 4PDA, is more stable than the ROM 20514. When these loading this ROM with "BootLoader_GUI" the process does not reach beyond 38%. When you reach the 38% make two Hard-Reset and you should work.
Good luck.
Greetings

My iPAQ has been without battery during all the night. And what do you mean with "After attempts to load and once loaded iPAQ tries to install a new ROM"
Thanks a lot.

Hello
try remove backup battery (inside the pocket) and wait couple minutes ...
chears

Thanks to all of you, but I have already taken the backup battery for a while and nothing changed and it doesn't get into the bootloader mode, so I can't flash it with an SD card.
Does anyone know what I could do?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Vagaerg, did you ever get this issue sorted? I'm having the same issue with a iPaq HX4700 that I just purchased.

Universal dead after failed upgrade

First, I would like to thank everyone on this forum for valuable information. I have been able to flash a Blue Angel and more recently a Universal (SPV M5000) with a Jasjar, O2 and Qtek ROM.
I have researched the forum but have not found any answer close to my problem.
After the lastest update (O2 Exec just released), I did not reset the unit properly and now my screen is completely dead/blank. I tried to reflash but it is no longer recognized (will not power back up)
No possibility in putting in Boot loader mode (power+light+reset) or doing a hard reset (the 2 _ and reset).
has anyone experienced this and can I revive it, at least, bring it back to a boot loader so I can reflash? Thank you to all
Just a thought. Have you tried leaving out the battery pack for a while, say an hour or better overnight? Might be worth trying the hard-reset sequence with the battery still out, then insert the battery and hard-reset again. If it responds, try flashing again.
It is possible to get the Universal in a totally confused state. Mine does this everytime if I power down the workstation *without* first disconnecting the Exec from the USB-Sync cable. Fortunately, it will respond after a battery out plus reset, then battery in plus soft-reset, so I don't actually have to clear the memory.
Hope you dig yourself out of the brown stuff!
i am trying this at the moment as I do not know what else to do. I will put the battery back tomorrow in hope it will restart again.
Thank you for the advice

That worked for my when I was flashing my JAM, no problems. Scary, but successful. Think I may have left it a couple of days, to be sure. I then reflashed it successfully.
Although I refused to flash my Exec - too damned expensive to replace, and the ROM is 95% as good as it needs to be.

restoring the ROM on my Ipaq hx2795

I just got an Ipaq hx2795 and I upgraded to WM6, and it worked perfectly!. However, I saw a supposedly upgraded version of WM6 and i tried to install it, and too hastily I think. I did it without first removing my SD and CF cards. the upgrade said it went through ok on the PC, but it froze on the PPC, about halfway. ever since then, I've only been able to bring up the pda in pre-BL mode. Whenever I attempt to re-load any ROM (WM5 or WM6), I get the error message that the language of my current ROM is unknown and hence, the upgrade cannot go through. To further complicate my problem, I was trying to recover it about 3 nights ago and accidentally left the pda on all night in pre-BL mode. Now I think the battery is dead and I do not know how to charge it. Is there any resource or anyone that can help me with this problem? Is there a way to load the rom and Ignore the language setting on the Ipaq? What should I do now? HELP!!
Please let me know ASAP and Thanks!!
No-one replied to my post, but no matter.... I sorted it out and my bricked Ipaq is now fully functional again using WM6!!
Bless
Hi, how did you recovered your IPAQ, I feel I will have to do the same... tks

hx2410 stuck at boot screen

Hi! I have recently flashed my hp ipaq hx2410 to wm2005, the update process went fine but the device doesn't boot anymore. It shows the loading bar and it gets stuck when it fills up. I have tried hard reseting it but the problem persists. I can't flash it because active sync doesn't "see" it anymore... just a local area connection X - limited or no conectivity. What can I do ? Is there a way to boot the device in some sort of flash mode or something? Thank you very much
I had to do hard reset about 3 times when upgrading my hx2490B.

I have done a lot of hard resets but the device still gets stuck.
Another thing... I did not hard reset the device before de WM05 rom update. I thought it should do that by itself.
And second... If I get it to work I want to flash it to WM06. I have the rom but are there some special steps to be followed for this update ?
My pda still gets stuck in the bootloader and then the backlight turns off. Should I leave it that way untill the battery is completely flat ?
Some people say that removing the battery for 24 hours may help.
Try that.
When i flashed my 2490 i did format the device and than did the flash.
But I don't think that matters cause the first time when i did flash i didn't format the drive and it was OK.

I'll remove the battery then and see tommorow. The main question is: is my device completely dead or is it "resurectable" ? I don't think that it need servicing .... but ... just asking
Thank you for the replies. If the batterry removal fix works I'll post here. In the meantime any other possible sollutions are welcome.
My pda still doesn't boot. I have removed the battery for 24 hours and nothing. I have drained the battery and nothing. Did numerous hard resets and still no result. Can anyone help me ?
Just an idea (since I had to do this yesterday) maybe try formatting the device.
After flashing 4PDA ROM to my device it would get stack on the same screen as yours. After formatting it all went OK and I had WM6.
For my device I had to click calender + power + messaging + reset, release reset - release all.

Dude! this is a serious problem! Someone to get what it is?

Hey guys, I've updated to wm6 and sometimes after my p3300 started to either black out or get into a irresponsive mode where the screen is just lightly on. No buttons replies! Once its happens the only solution is to do a soft reset and then pass to phase 2, try to restart it. That bad boy gets stuck directly at the loading process and its maybe - with luck- that it will go through the os loading after 10 tries and soft resets. The phone can work then from five minutes to ten hours and will get stuck again. What is Happening???!!! Also I don't think its the battery cause it does the same thing even with full battery. Last detail, I just passed the warranty limit and its too late to send it back. What can I do??
Did you updated with the official Rom?
Try to flash it again.
Or just try it out a cooked WM6.1 ROM. I recomend Artemis touch Vanilla 4.02.
Cheers
You tried a hard-reset?

If he upgraded it, then he didn't need it or it was the original WM6 ROM.
The problem was after upgrade!
Flash it again or do a hard reset!
Cheers
Thanks for the help. Yeah I installed the touch Vanilla 4.02 cooked WM6.1 ROM. And I believe the uspl was in the file. As far as I remember I ran it but had no feedback whether it worked or no...
Would a hard reset get the bad boy back to wm5 or reboot with wm6.1?
I *should* reset/default to factory settings for whatever ROM was last successfully flashed to the device. You will lose any installed programs/data so so a PIM backup/ActiveSync before hand if required.

Touch Diamond doesn't boot

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to cook a WM6.5 in Portuguese (I used some files rom WM6.1PTG and I translated some others) with Visual Diamond Kitchen and in the cooking part all went well, I have the .ndh file generated and without errors.
Then I flash the Diamond and after the flashing is concluded the diamond makes itself a reboot and stops after the first boot screen with TouchDiamond and the red information about the versions.
I tried to do a hard restart, soft, remove and out again the batery without success.
Does anybody have the same problem?
I'll appreciate help.
Best Regards,
Armaia
Do you removed "FWUPDATE"?

Try to restore first your original shipped rom and then reflash your own rom.
Hi All,
I have the same problem, I flashed MightygroovyROM, after first boot, it stops, there is only "Touch Diamond" on the screen. I tried hard reset but doesnt work. Since activesync connection couldnt establish, I couldnt do anything.
Anyone know another technique to connect without activesync ? or is there any other way to go back old rom any flaeshing a new rom ?
Best regards
Kag
