hey guys
I have a interesting project at the moment, for that, I need to 'castrate' a phone in its capabilities.
The phone has some A5 ciphering modes which it supports (A5/3 - A5/2 -A5/1 - A5/0).
Now I need to disable all of them but not the A5/0 (unciphered).
The network will need to take the unciphered method, because it needs to think the phone is not supporting anything else.
Is there a possibility to patch the gsm stack like this?
which phones would be the simplest for doing that?
what do I need? are there any settings, or is real radio patching needed?
Is it possible to patch the radio?
Thank you very much for your help!

Hi all,
I woukd like to know if it's possible edit and modyfing radio image.
I'm tryng to change speech algo to create a new encriptation codec algo.
Many thanks in advance
Alex
nobody but the gsm modul makers have don it so far as far as i know
you prob need a pretty good interface from the gsm modul chip makers not to ruin anything
and you cant depend on the radio rom being anything like the radio rom on another device
if you cant get the gsm module makers to give you info about the interface you are likely to break a bunch of laws trying to change it being that you will be likely to transmit invalid illegal stuff on the gsm frequincy
you cant depend on the radio being programmed in any high lvl language like c most such special purpos embedded software is in asm for the cntrl and or dsp using by the modul
good luck
I know that exist some Qtek with speech encripted like this:
http://www.accessweb.it/en/crypto_phones.htm
and that it's possible without changing nothing, but only working around Radio rom.

First, it can be perfectly possible, but it does not matter - because instead of some big distributor, you won't be able to obtain the needed developer documentation and tools to make own custom radio firmware.
Second, are you sure its custom radio rom and not just some encryption application like SecureGSM?

I know that can be used some application with AES algo "Rijndael" and also working around Radio rom.

well the whole issue with htc phones not being able to have software answering machines or listening to music while talking and the likes
was because the audio was 100% seperate from the pda when gsm was active
so normal software running on the pda simply could not access the audio stream being directed to the gsm module while the conversation was active
you can find alot of info about it if you search for
answering machine

AES Rijndael algo SW for PDA use internal modem to speech call so you make a data call.
Alex
You dont need any custom firmware to do GSM data calls.
Its a standard feature.

Yes, but I've used one custom SW that make an encripted AES Algo speech call with other phone and same SW installed through modem and data call.

I don't think it possible. HSPDA is part of 3G, like a (newer) version. You may switch to 2G completely, but not '3G only' and not going up to HSPDA.
If something like this would be possible, it most likely only achievable by modifying Android's code in one of the file that controls the radio. But not something off the default settings or codes.

I think that's possible because they've done it in this theard : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/301279-4-0-4-t1818661 . and like you said, by modifiying radio settings.
Anyways,Thank you for you answer!
I'll keep searching if there's any other solution that would help me save my battery.

Just turn off data.
Hi all, I use LineageOS 16 on a Lenovo P2 and I am looking for a way to have it connect to wifi networks using EAP SIM authentication.
I asked in the rom's forum and I've received mixed answers: somebody said it's not supported by any means, somebody else suggested that it could be possible to compile the new wpa_supplicant binary in order to support it.
For me it's getting more and more important being able to connect with EAP SIM, but I don't feel like downgrading to the stock rom, as I would lose so much in terms of performance and security.
Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Has anyone tried to modify the update files to create custom or even improve the UI of the Hyundai software?
Just curious because I have a Canadian 2017 IONIQ BEV and downloaded the update from update.hyundai.com and noticed the files look very similar to a ROM update for an Android phone.
Wanted to bump this post back up since I got a hold of the update files that work for my car.
I want to enable wifi hotspot button in 2022 IONIQ 5 BEV. Please help. Thank you and have a nice weekend.
You could tinker around in Engineer mode (google it) and find something like that, but be careful as it can brick your car and even breakyour warranty in some countries
( My Phone is Realme 3 - RMX1911 )
Hi! I would like to ask if there's possibly a way to enable the multiple users feature that the stock android has.
If possible, without rooting the phone. If it can't be done without rooting the phone, please tell me the effects, of rooting the phone. Whenever I try to turn on the Developer Options, it displays a message something about disabling the device's security features, and I don't really wanna mess up anything on my phone cause it's kinda new and I'm kinda low on funds to get it fixed at a service center if ever I accidentally hard brick it.
Can someone please tell me what those security features are that will be disabled, if there is a way to enable the multi user feat without rooting, and also if there's already a working root guide for realme RMX1911.
I hope you can help me and Thank you in advance.
