MS Exchange activesync annoyance - Desire General

Hello
I use active sync to my employers MS exchange server on my new Desire. But about every 30 second it goes into sleep mode and I have to put in a password to access again. In the manual it explains how to adjust the time before the screen turns off (settings /sound and display/screen timeout). However on my phone this option is not available. Is there any way I can set up the phone so I don't have to punch the password so often?

Search for a app called "LockPicker" it will not change the time but it will allow you to remove the lock.

How to autocheck email every X minutes ... not working....

Hi,
Just got a BA. Now I was trying to find a way to make the device check for emails via my Wifi network every 10 or 15 minutes. I've enabled the option in Pocket Outlook, but when I suspend the device, automatically the wifi network is disconnected.
That would not be a problem if pocket outlook was enable to reconnect itseft automatically to the network for 30sec to check for new mail.
There is a hack for a new software I could use for this?

How to remove password protection???

I tried to set up my orbit to sync with works exchange server and it ended up applying some security setting making me set a password. Now i've got rid of the sync relationship i still have this password control. I've been in the 'lock' settings and the check box to untick is greyed out!
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this annoying thing so i don't have to type in a password every 5 seconds!!???

HTC Home problems/questions

I have a few problems with the app and I was wondering if there was some remediation for them (including fixing my ignorance)
The automatic profile engages vibration mode during any calendar item, including free events
The weather doesn't auto update on its own, when I open the tab, it is either old or empty and starts to update then.
there is no snap back to the main tab
pressing the mail indicators doesn't take you to the account with new mail, it goes to the last account viewed
I have used HTC Home Customizer, but that mainly does colors and icons. I know it is free, but I'd like MORE from it for my convenience

First of all I use the standard/non mod HTC Home from this link, I also installed HHC from here.
I do not understand your first concern.
I guess with the second, it is a good point not wasting data when it's not needed, you only want to pull down data when required. So I actually like what it does and how it does it.
With the third concern, I put a device lock button and it snaps back to the home screen.
I have two email accounts set up for my device, one is a windows live, and another is a google apps account, basically Gmail via IMAP, so when I click on the mail it brings up the two accounts and let me see which one has the blue with 1 on it, indicating the mail box with new email.
Sorry can't be much help but just sharing what I experienced.
If I have an all day free event... like "Pay Day", it stays in automaic vibrate all day. If I delete the event, is switches to normal. It should only change into meeting/vibrate mode during "busy" events
I haven't found any switch back settings, where did you set that?
I have 4 accounts, 5 including sms/mms, so I have to page back and forth between accts looking for unread email. I suppose I can try to set the account picker as messaging start
I am now not following your 'switch back' function. I put device lock, and when I touch on that it locks the keyboard/screen and puts up the home screen
With events I set my diary and set it as 'free' it didn't interfere with the profile, but may be I have spb phone suite installed.
again I use the standard one and modified it with HHC.
Look at this! It might your profile that you selected.
I just uncheck that tab in the HTC Home options... Then I don't have to worry about it automatically changing my ringer to vibrate
I thought that I could just settle for HTC home, as it seems pretty light weight... but I need more functionality, so back to PhoneWeaver I go...and iLauncher I suppose

How do you delete exchange/outlook mail? & device lock setting is locked

Like the topic says.
I want to delete my Outlook E-mail that I setup on the Dash. When I still scroll in the message screen it still shows "Outlook E-Mail" along side Test messages and MMS.
Also I can't uncheck the device lock setting and I have to put in a 6 digit code every time I need to. Previously before putting exchange on my phone it was just a 4 digit simple pin. Any way to reverse this without having to hard reset my phone?
I would like to know this too

Try deleting it through Active Sync

Froyo & Exchange - "Update Security Settings"

Hi,
i have Exchange setup & working. I get a notification each time I reboot the phone it says update security settings. If I click on it, it goes away & doeesnt bring any other information together.
Any ideas on what it wants? Its not terribly annoying but its strange.
Thanks,
Rich
I don't have an answer, but I do have a question??? Do you still need to enter a password every time you "un-lock" the phone??? I am currently running 2.1 but use LockPicker to get around this.
Hi,
I dont have to enter any codes into my phone. I have exchange set up twice on my phone.
The first time I set it up with the default app so my contacts will be populated & then I set it not to check my exchange again.
Then I use Touchdown for my exchange needs. It works great & I would assume it would bypass that issue. I like Touchdown better as it downloads subfolders (once selected) by default, so the email is always in sync.
Thx...I have Touchdown and will try that once 2.2 goes OTA.

That's caused by a setting on your Exchange server from what I've heard. Basically its an enterprise level security feature. Without hacking it, like you have been doing, its not going to change in the software update. If anything, Google will make it harder to get around it, since they are trying to get enterprises to adopt Android, so they need to keep these kinds of settings around.
Lockpicker does not work with 2.2, you will have to enter a code but you can adjust the time for that code entry to up to 15 minutes, if you use Touchdown you will have to enter the code everytime you go into the touchdown app. its not to bad entering the code every 15 minutes, the screen for the code entry is huge with a big dialer, not so much of a pain as entering the code before.
Hi,
I am using exchange 2007 & Touchdown. I dont have to ever put a code in. Is this due to my exchange being a hosted exchange service vs a work corp email?
Thanks,
Rich

it's a setting on the Exchange server. it just depends if the Exchange nerd was told to implement it or not.
I found this while searching to find a fix. I think that I figured it out though.
This is referring to the security settings for your phone and I believe that the Exchange server is set to require a password be entered on the phone to satisfy it's security requirements.
I turned on the pattern lock on my phone and haven't received the message again... Yet.
There's also an issue that I know of with Exchange Server 2010
If this setting has been enabled by the sysadmin;
Via EMC:
Microsoft Exchange
- Microsoft Exchange On-Premises
- Organization Configuration
- Client Access
- Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies
Under Default policy, Device Password Required - Yes
Then your Exchange client on Froyo will bounce around asking you to press it's buttons every boot, and sometimes every time your network status changes!
EVEN IF this setting is reverted, there appears to be a bug where the security settings are still passed to the client device.
I've tested this myself and Ninpo [[email protected]] can verify.
