How to remove password protection??? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

I tried to set up my orbit to sync with works exchange server and it ended up applying some security setting making me set a password. Now i've got rid of the sync relationship i still have this password control. I've been in the 'lock' settings and the check box to untick is greyed out!
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this annoying thing so i don't have to type in a password every 5 seconds!!???

Undo password

Today i set up my orbit to sync with my work email and calender. Everything worked brilliantly apart from my orbit forcing me to enter a password in the 'Lock' function in settings.
So every time i turn on my orbit i am prompted to enter my password, this realy annoyed me so i deleted my work email account hopeing to un-prompt the password every time i turn on the orbit.
In 'Settings' 'Lock' the prompt if unused box will not untick.
Any ideas apart from a hard reset?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Mark.
Hi,
Change the 'password type' to: Simple PIN.
This would allow you to untick the 'Prompt if device unused'

Thanks Kiwi, but ive already tried this and just tried again. When i select Simple Pin, it will not allow me to enter a simple pin password or uncheck 'Prompt if device unsued'.
Hi,
I'm surprised to hear that your problem still persists.
Personally, I haven't synchronised my work e-mail and calendar. However, the suggestion that I made was exactly what I did when faced with a similar problem to yours and it worked for me.
Maybe it's got something to do with the synchronisation. What do you think? The Exchange Server at your place of work, perhaps.
I don't think that simply deleting your e-mail account on your device (as you did), would make much difference. Remember that you've already synchronised the device: e-mail account, password and all, with the Exchange Server.
Here's my suggestion:
1. Synchronise (again) with Exchange Server, re e-mail and calendar.
2. Now enter a 'Simple PIN' password (note: if the system would not allow you to use a Simple PIN password, enter a 'Strong alphanumeric' password).
3. Try to access your e-mail or calendar (you should be able to). This is just to test it.
4. Exit your e-mail or calendar
5. Now, de-synchronise
6. Finally, go into your device and change the password type to 'Simple PIN'
7. Then, untick the box next to 'Prompt if device unused'
I think that doing a hard-reset should be a last resort 'cos you need to know how to deal with this problem, for the future.
Let us know what's happening.

Thanks again kiwi, i would try your advice but have already hard reset device after a few days of frustration in entering password just to use device. Im not bothered anyway about using my own device for work email. I read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305859&highlight=undo+password and decided to hard reset.
I may (when i get around to it) try my exec with work email and calender and then follow your advice.
Cheers.
Hi,
Glad you are sorted.
At least we were thinking on the same lines as the thread to which you referred.

How do you delete exchange/outlook mail? & device lock setting is locked

Like the topic says.
I want to delete my Outlook E-mail that I setup on the Dash. When I still scroll in the message screen it still shows "Outlook E-Mail" along side Test messages and MMS.
Also I can't uncheck the device lock setting and I have to put in a 6 digit code every time I need to. Previously before putting exchange on my phone it was just a 4 digit simple pin. Any way to reverse this without having to hard reset my phone?
I would like to know this too

Try deleting it through Active Sync

Network Logon Prompt at startup

Every time I startup or soft reset my Tilt 2 I am getting a network login prompt asking me for user name and password for MEdia Net (AT&T - wap.cingular). I check the "save password" box but it doesn't ever save it because it will ask me again the next time. I checked my MEdia Net settings and the username and password are both saved there. How do I get rid of this prompt?
Have you tried deleting the server settings and setting it up again?

[Q] Can't disable screenlock.

All of a sudden I can no longer disable my screenlock. I recently enabled it briefly during a week long trip out of the country (in case the phone got stolen or lost), but am now unable to disable it.
When I go to Settings->Security->Screenlock, it asks for my PIN, and then I am given the standard screen to "Select screen lock".
The options are as follows:
None (Grayed out)
Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage.
Slide (Grayed out)
Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage.
Face Unlock (Grayed out)
Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage.
Pattern (Enabled)
PIN (Enabled)
Password (Enabled)
I have 3 gmail accounts, neither of them have any sort of device administrative features that I know of enabled.
Any ideas?

Check Security->devices administration if there is anything like an app or an account that is running like an administrator delete it and try again.
Also when i had problems with face unlock freezing and rebooting i just unistalled some apps and then it was working flawlessly.
Hope that helps.

The only thing there is Lookout, and it is not enabled.
EDIT: Uninstalled Lookout, still disabled
Do you have full device encryption or a work exchange account on the device?
Do you use a VPN connection?
No exchange accounts, only gmail accounts. I even removed all but my primary gmail account to see if it would make a difference.
I do have a VPN connection, but it is not active. (and pre-dated this problem)
Thanks for the suggestions so far

If you have VPN credentials stored, you are required to use a "secure" screen lock. Something may have glitched and not required it when you set up the account, but my guess is that is what is preventing you from disabling the screen lock.
Were you using the facial recognition unlock earlier? I think the system lets you slip by if you have that set before entering credentials, but won't let you choose it afterwards.
I had the same problem when i tried to setup an exchange email account and installed a certificate.
Fixed it by deleting all certificates.
Settings>Security>Clear credintials
It's probably not the "correct" answer but if you can't get it sorted out try the app "No Lock" which disables the lock screen. I used it for the longest time and it worked great.
Quick simple question.. Do you have the "lock screen when pressing power button" tickbox checked?

That did the trick, Thank YOU!
Lock screen
You Should go
setting/security/credential Storage/clear credential
then ok.

Thank you codesplice! I had the same problem today and your answer helped me solved the problem. The screenlock could be disabled right after I deleted the VPN account.

Removing my VPN connection solved the problem for me!
My 2 cents. I had the same issue today when i tried installing corporate email. The certificate had me setup a screen password encrypt my card and another bunch of things. Soon i got pissed off by the password prompt and decided to delete my mail account and rebooted. Guess what.. the credentials did not go. my password could not be disabled. I even tried clearing credentials in security but it did not help. I check device administrators and there was nothing.
So here's finally what solved the issue. The device administrator got deleted when i uninstalled the email account. So i re setup my account and then went back into the device administrators. Now i saw email app as a device admin. It has a check box which was enabled. i disabled it.. rebooted the mobile and cleared credetials again. Again reboot and was able to disable lock. Key was to disable the administrator while the app was installed.

thanks - that worked! I have had a VPN connection setup and then deleted it. It still did no allow me to remove the screen pattern. After deleting all the certificates it finally worked.

Obviously the credentials are there for a purpose. So this is bad advice, unless you can explain why everybody can suddenly do without the credentials.
If your little finger itches, would you hack it off?

Email Issue

Hi all,
Having issues changing my password in the official/default email app of the G4 - got a notification from my Exchange account (although it happens with them all!) to change my password to match the server. No problem.
Only everytime I try and change the password I get a login error saying "incorrect information". The problem seems to be that when it takes me to the settings of the email app, it deletes out the domain name for some reason, and doesn't let you edit to put it back in!
This seems like a real pain in the ass bug - the only way to get it syncing again is to remove the account and set it up from scratch again...not ideal when forced to change your password frequently.
Can someone try this and see if they're affected for me too please?
In the default LG G4 email app go to:
Settings>*email account*>Advanced settings>Exchanges server settings...
Now you should see where the password is asking to be changed - has the domain been deleted? If you change the password, does it work?
Honestly, between this and the constant missed screen taps I'm very close to sending this back! Any help would be really appreciated!
Anyone?
I have the same issue.... When cancelling however the new password worked....
