However the web site pricing doesn't work when viewed using Google Chrome as the browser.
Now firing up the spreadsheet to working out the best deal. My t-mobile contract runs out next month
Brought my Tytn from Vodapone and found them helpful when I had hardware problems.

Anyone without a "business" got one? Anyone had any problems with not owning a business?
Many thanks,
Dave
I got one last week without a business, and they didn't seem bothered at all.
I got mine for £30+vat a month over 18 months and when I've just looked at the website it showed 3 months free. I rang up and complained that I wasn't offered this option, and he politely pointed out that it was for 24 month contracts only. Then he said if I wanted to change to it I could and he dropped the rental to £25 pm
So I have extended the contract AND saved money, are you listening Tmobile?
Thanks stunno, I think I'm going to upgrade... (it's been so long since I got my Kaiser, I've getting nervious )
@lloydsparkes, please don't thread hijack, I've deleted your posts, use one of the many T-Mob threads.
Dave
yeh i got mine from vodafone a week ago and im not a business owner...
they didnt seem too bothered about it either. Got a 25ppm contract for 24 months! figured the phone looks great and hopefully should work well (which it is for now) i didn't mind keeping it for 2 years!
Just a quick update - I was just in the Vodafone branch in Durham who told me that they had an email this morning telling them that the stores weren't going to stock it so it's online/telesales only.
double posting...sorry

Go for it Dave, you know you want to!
And when you get it, as your first job can you find a way of getting rid of the branding, please?
I've signed up on Vodafone for £34 + VAT per month, 18 months, and get 900 mins + unlimited TXT + 500mb data.
What are you guy's getting for £25 per month? If I'm getting a raw deal I may ask them to change it for me, or I have until Monday to decide to send it back within the 'peace of mind' return period.
I'm getting 500 minutes, unlimited landline and internet (but the AUP will be 50MB) and 250 texts

My condolences mate, hope you find something soonest.
I too am between contracts, the job market sucks in the UK at the moment, but there is always work about as long as one can be humble.
Good luck again.
Cheers,

for 25 a month i get 600 mins unlimited texts and unlimited internet i.e 500mb...but i did pay 196 for the phone....now i jus checked the website and they are selling the same contract for 170...i feel a bit cheated! im gna call them tomorrow and ask for a small refund atleast! every little helps!

Apparently you have 7 days 'make your mind up time' on the phone ( although I thought the Distance Selling Regs was 14 days, but could be wrong) so if you are within that you have a good bargaining position

just got off the phone with Vodafone! they are going to credit my account! luv it when they actually listen to you....
Good News! I'm beginning to like Vodafone
Does anyone know if the Vodafone TP2's are SIM unlocked?
Dave
mines sim unlocked.. tried with a three sim and orange...both passed a call test
My one is unlocked too - was using it with T-mobile before my number was ported.
I'm also pleased with Vodafone so far, and there coverage seems better than T-mobile so far where I live in Aberdeen.
My partner has had a very bad experience with these guys. Been with them for years but never had to really talk to anyone. I'm having her upgrade so i'm most peeved off haha. To sum it all up in short.
* She was repeatedly disconnected when ringing them.
* She was repeatedly put on hold for up to 25 minutes at a time.
* She was given false information.
* She was spoken to very rudely at times.
She first rang on Wednesday and they said she could pay what she owes and start a new contract and get a new phone. She was told they HAD the Desire and for all the trouble they put her through she could have free next day delivery. They later that day rang to say they no longer had it and stock would come Friday so they would contact her then.
Friday comes and she receives a text saying her phone has been ordered. She rings up to confirm and they have put her on the wrong contract and say it will come for Monday. She says she was promised next day delivery but they say it's not possible for free... She has a new order put in and has to pay the roughly £8 for GUARANTEED (their words) next day delivery.
Saturday comes and no show. She calls them and is told it will arrive Monday. Obviously she is not happy as we both work and nobody will be home and she has paid for GUARANTEED next day delivery. They admit fault and refund delivery money. She says she is not happy and wants to cancel however the phone has actually left them so it's not possible now.
So we wait for Monday. If they told her in the first place that it would HAVE to be Monday no other option then she would be fine with it but with all the disconnections, on holds and rudeness she is not pleased and i'm not either to be honest.
Just to top it off i come on here and see all you lovely people receiving your handsets today and i'm forced to wait It's nice to see other people having a good experience with T-Mobile. Doesn't seem to be many like me. Sorry for the rant.
i think all networks are like that from time to time.
I never had any problems with o2 and everytime i ring them they were helpful and nice. however after i cancelled my contract 2 days ago i cant get hold of them to get my pac code :/

Log into your o2 my account and email them from there.
I asked for it Thursday evening via email, it was in my inbox this morning
I'd like to inform you that I've generated the PAC Code for you to
transfer your number. PAC (Port Authorisation Code) is required to
transfer your number to another service provider. Yours is GENxxxxxx and
is valid until 25 April 2010.
The PAC should be given to your new Service Provider, who'll then
collect your mobile number from us. We'll close your account just as
soon as your mobile number is transferred.
If the PAC isn't used by 25 April 2010, your account will remain open
and you'll continue to be charged your usual monthly tariff. The final
bill will be generated for your account within 7 to 14 days of the
disconnection date. The payment will be requested on or after 14 days
from your final bill date by Direct Debit.
I hope I've explained this clearly for you.
Thank you for taking the time to write to us.
kind regards
Jatin

Fraid so
Well I have received my first bill from T-mobile.
It says my last statement was -£129 and they have taken £15 from that for my monthly contract.
It now says that the amount due is -£114.
I know the £129 is because that is how much the phone cost but why the -??
It is the same on my online bill.
Anyone else have this?
Mines the same. I'm just hoping they don't notice. Did you order online, then call up to get it dispatched on release day?
if your upgrading and your contarct is less then they deduct it. T-mobile owe me £16 as my phone bill is now £15. Luckily I didnt have to pay for the phone
as far as i remember my first bill with o2 bout 18 months ago was also saying -£36
pretty sure you will be charged the right ammount though, and next months should be back to normal
Yes I have the same issue.
I have paid £164 for the phone, and when I got my first bill text it said: "the balance is £149- "
And I freaked out... but then I noticed the '-' after the £149.
The problem is that on the bill that came with the phone it said that the phone costs £0...
They will notice sooner or later...
Mine is cheaper than what it should be. I'm hoping she's put me on the wrong price plan.
At the moment my priceplan on my t-mobile says it's £21.28 which is £25 inc VAT and the plan says it's called Pay monthly 25ST (24 months).
The thing is, first time I rang, I was told I could get 600 mins, 500 texts, unlim internet and a booser for £30 a month, phone was £25.
I then cancelled my mobiles.co.uk order and phoned back. It turns out the phone wasn't £25 it was £60 but she reduced it to £25 for me.
Now looking on their website, they have 2 priceplans which match my deal. The first is £30 a month, same amount of texts and minutes but for 18 months (which I'm clearly not on). There's a £25 a month tarrif, that's the same amount of minutes and texts 24 months for £25, phone is £60.
I'm hoping I've been put on the £25 a month tarrif even though I asked for £30 a month. Although there's also the possibility that my price plan shows up at £21.28 because it doesn't include the £5 internet addon which would make it £30 (with VAT).
Just found out I've been put on the £25 a month tariff (I know this is irrelevant but wanted to tell someone ) Am chuffed after I thought I'd be paying £30

meh, that sux i tend to drop my phone when out drinking seems like ill either have to get some nice case for it or just be extra careful
I have just called them, and they said they will bill the phone on the second bill. But my problem was that I was on the £10/month plan which has unlimited internet included and I had the unlimited texts booster, and for some reason they added the web'n'walk option for £4.25... I called them up and they said it was a mistake and thei will refund the 4.25 in the next bill and will take the option out of my account.
However when I logged on to my online account, it still shows the £4.25 active.
Do these changes appear online as soon as they make them, or does it take a while?

if you ring them they activate it straight away and bill you retrospectively

Hello. I had a question regarding how I could get the EVO. I wanted to get on a friends account so it would be cheaper for the both of us. Could I do this while still getting the 200$ pricing ? Thanks!
If one of you is off contract you could move to a family share line and get the discounton the device.
You would get the 200 price if you are adding a new line to your friends account. (Either as a second individual line, or by converting both on to one family plan.)
I am off contract. Currently with Verizon and my mother is taking over my number. So it's easy as that eh ? I will look into that, thank you.
Next question: The person I am going to be getting on a plan with lives in Austin, I live in Houston. How would we go about getting a plan together ? Do we both need to physically be at a store to set it up ?

Okay so I should just send them the money for the phone and get it shipped to me... Simple enough. Thanks.
Or... You could always have your friend call customer service or go into a local store and have him notate that he authorizes you as a user to make changes to the account. Make sure he gives your full name and requests that a manager set it as a priority note. Once he does that make sure that YOU have either the pin number or the answer to the security question and you are set to do whatever you need to do in your own local store or via telesales.
You might want to keep your phone number and port it to Sprint. Sprint has a $100 porting credit that you can get, and it'll cut the price of the phone in half. You can then call up Verizon and have them give you a new number when it's all said and done.
It's worth $100. I'm doing the same for AT&T.
I would do that except my old phone was stolen ( Touch Pro 2 ) and I am still on contract with no intent of canceling my plan yet. I had looked into that but I'd need a lot of money to cancel my Verizon plan. Too poor to do it right now.

Have you seen this in writing? Friend wants to port to Sprint, and I heard rumors about this but can't find the details anywhere.
Also, porting your number over from Verizon, terminates the verizon contract immediately. Then you get your ETF bill.
The details are here...but it says it is for business accounts only...
https://www.sprintportcredit.com/
Just turned up three lines last week, submitted the form for each - may work, may not...regardless, it's worth a shot!
Another question... If I get the phone tomorrow, could me and my friend combine our accounts at a later time and lower the price ?
For someone just moving to the UK is it possible to buy a phone on contract?
Apparently some sites say you need a 3 year address proof before you can sign a contract? Is it not possible for some one who has just moved to the UK to work to get a phone on contract? Really want the Desire
There must be a way to as a lot of people come over to work. Surely they don't wait three years!
The way contracts work over here is you will need proof of identity and a utility bill with your current UK address.
If you lived within europe for the last three years then I beleieve you will be ok however if not then you should still be able to get a contract but they wont provide you with a phone for a certain amount of time.
My GF when we went to take her out a contract at the age of 18 because she had no credit history they would give her a contract but no phone even though she had been here 18 years! So in the end did it in my name.
Best bet is to phone up and ask around te providers see what they say. You might even have better luck doing a contract in store (will need photo proof)
Good luck getting the Desire though it seems this country is sold out of it I spent the whole day trying to source one (signed my contract over a week ago and T-mobile told me today they have no idea when they will be able to get one)
Stores all around my county had waiting lists of 20+ and refused to put me down as their lists where to big. After alot of searching (and arguing with T-Mobile because they wouldnt order from two places that had stock) I finally managed to get mine and went and picked it up this afternoon (after they conned me to paying another £30 for the phone!)
Good Luck
Can't you even get one SIM-Free? If you can afford it, obviously

Sim Free would be quite expensive sadly for now.
This person who would be moving there would be working with a law firm and they would provide proof of employment and with his Annual salary and contract length specified and plus he would have enough money in his account so he should pass the credit check right?
I just moved from South Africa to the UK... three weeks ago. Walked into O2 last week and walked out with a Desire on contract. No problem. All u need is a bank account and debit card.

What all did they need? They din't check your 3 years address proof? And as for credit check what did they see?
What you may want to look into mate is buying a PAYG HTC Desire i got my O2 one for £330 then get a simplicty sim.
From O2 at the moment I think they do 600 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet and your not tied to the contract its like rolling every 30 days. You ring them and cancel when you want to.
Won't let me post links yet but go to O2 then tariffs and Sim only Simplicty.
Also the website doesn't show the desire on PAYG but it is available in the shops.
Hmm but buying it for 330 is rather expensive right now. He'd rather take it up on contract. Thanks though
You may be able to do a full contract it all depends on what they decide its their discression. I just didn't have to provide 3 year proof of address nor did my finacee but because she had just turned 18 and didn't have a credit history like I said they told her she would have to be on contract for 6 months before they gave her a phone so I did it in my name for her.
I bought my first phone on a contract in the UK 1 week after I got here.
I bought it online, and I didn't have to provide anything... and when they asked on the form online for how long I have been living at the address I was renting, I said more than 12 months (as instructed by one of the indian online chat asistants ) ).
Actually I signed up to a £15/month contract for the phone (and got a free Nokia 6500slide) and also a 50% discounted £7.5 mobile broadband contract, so 2 separate contracts.
They called me the next day and said my credit checks are OK for the broadband contract but for the phone I had to pay a £75 guarantee which I will get back after the first 6 months of the contract... payed over the phone, everything came the next day, and that was it... (this happened in September 2008)
It was with Three.co.uk - but I won't recommend them because their coverage sucks if you come in the South-West around Swindon... The London area, Birmingham area are ok though... didn't use their network anywhere else in the UK...

Oh. Thanks a lot
Hmm he can lie about living for more than 12 months I guess.
Will this work with other places like mobiles.co.uk? And what if he goes to a Carphone Warehouse shop.
From what I've read at various places the address should be not much of an issue. So hopefully he can get his phone.
If he does take the phone in the name of a relative then can he do something so that he's paying out of his own account?
You can't lie about how long you have been living at a certain place because they are likley to run a check and it is illegal.
And no generally the money has to be taken out of the account with the same name as the contract or a joint account with that persons name on it.
Try going directly for a contract in his own name with phone they may give it to him.
I got my Desire two weeks after my 18th birthday. No credit check required as far as I know. I did order online though. I haven't missed a payment yet XD. So I guess my credit score should be going through the roof!
Just because you haven't missed a payment on one contract doesn't make you credit rating go through the roof sadly. its also based on sex / age / location (if the rest of your street have bad credit ratings then that makes your bad as well)
Very unfair if you ask me....
And they would of performed a check if they are providing a phone on contract but they don't always tell you - not sure if they tell you when ordering online as I have never done that - but they still will do the check.

Yeah that is what we want. He'll have all his address proof, employment proof and a ready bank account so hopefully he won't have any problem with it.
Is Vodafone's service good?
Vodafone are ok. We have them here at our company with about 100 mobiles and they are known for being the best coverage in the UK but in all honesty I would say my T-Mobile phone has better coverage then the Vodafone's we have here at work but they aren't bad.
Had a couple of problems with Customer Service in the last 4 months but they got resovled in a okish amount of time.
Hmm
That 30 pounds a month plan with the Booster seems decent.
Would I be able to get it at the Carphone Warehouse store though? Going online would take time and he needs to get his phone within 2 weeks.
