I have got here a upgraded Artemis and it just does not want to work properly with GPS. All the satellites are in the north point and it never gets a valid signal. I have already tried to flash it to the black & blue ROM but it still happens. The navi software i am using is TomTom 6.032.
Anyone got an idea what to do? It never works, not even on the street.

With GPS of my SPV M650 I fought 2-3 weeks
I have more another program-but these basic = think this is enough
I have done all of that but nothing helps. I simply can't get my GPS to work. IT shows me that all the satellites are in the north position and that is about it. I have changed the firmware and i have used all the fixes recommended here including GPS reset with no success. When i connect my BT received it works fine but that is not the point of having inbuilt GPS
I really hope someone can help me to get this damn phone working. Would it work better with WM05? If so has anyone got a link to it?
Thanks again to everyone helping in here.
I haved some problem=one satelit in north!
my problem was in contacts of antena!!!
Try to connect outside antena(back side connector!) i think you have some problem like my
http://rapidshare.com/files/21643937/Artemis-Inside.zip
On 6 page at right+up side you can see your gps antena
On 9 page you can see your contacts(problema!!!)
Try to make good connection!!!
If you speak french:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341952/#6
Otherwise, i'll explain in english cause I had the same problem:
I tried with the first Kulbutor patch (in my link)
If you install it just after the flash; there is no problem.
Moreover, if you are using Orange with AGPS, it works also. after having install the Orange.cab
Be carefull you must wait this (or these) install(s) before running tomtom; otherwise, it won't work
Hoping it will help you,
Regards

GPS problem with GPS cam
Hello,
I just installed the artemis touch 4.02 WWE on my XDA I orbit. Everythings works fine, also Tomtom and visualGPS. But the GPS cam seems to be not able to start built in GPS when launching camera for GPS photo. The first time when I started the GPS cam, a pop up appeared with message "initializing GPS" or something like that, and I cancelled it by tapping cancel button. Now GPS cam is not working any more. Will this fixes solve my problem?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi all,
from few days ago my TOM TOM on my trinity is stopped to work.
I'm using ROM: 3.51 Claros and 1.46.00.11 as Radio.
It is very strange because suddenly it stops to work. Using other GPS software, like win fast navigator or GPSTest, it can find some satellites for a bit but without fixing them.
What should be the problem?
There is my friend having the same configuration (radio and rom) ant it works properly.
I would like to install the original rom (WM5) or install the latest radio (1.56...), what is your suggestion?
Regards
Leandro

I have a Loox PDA and have had the same sort of problem, either taking a long time and getting no fix despite seeing lots of satellites, or getting a fix from just a few satellites but with a positional error of about 300 metres. In each case the problem appears to be a corruption of the satellite data in the GPS "chip"/memory. In the case of my device there is a rear cover switch which is a bit unreliable, but I have also had a loose battery. Both of these cause corruption in the GPS chip/memory. Taking the battery out and reseting the device cures it every time. I wonder if you have a similar problem? It doesn't just affect TomTom but any software you have running. Restarting in this way can eliminate that as a cause.

Hi fingerstoo and tnx very much for the reply.
The problem come out also running other GPS software...maybe is a GPS issue.
I tried to take off the battery for 8 hours and I fixed the problem but only for 1 time. After the rebooting, the gps fixing issus came out again.
Currently I installed a cooked rom, I would like to install the original one (WM5) and test again. What's your feeling?

Hi ordnael, I think it is definitely worth going back to WM5, even if only to try to solve the problem. I suggest that after you go back and with your device in "factory state" i.e. no additional software installed at all, re-install TomTom afresh from card/file or CDROM. Do not use backup software to restore TomTom. This should eliminate the possibility of hardware/software settings, or installed software interferring with the GPS.
If it works, then you do not have a hardware problem. If it doesn't work, then you obviously do have a hardware problem.
If it works, then gradually re-install all your other software, starting with any other GPS software first and see if it interferes or stops TomTom working.
Are you using TT6 or TT7? Oh, and I don't think the radio function should have anything to do with the GPS, however, I don't have your device so I may be wrong......

Tnx very much for your reply.
I would like to update you about the latest changes!
(Just to clarify that the problem raises also during execution of other GPS software, so this is not a TOM TOM issue!)
Anyway, I removed the battery for 8 hours (to reset the GPS) and then the TOM TOM and "GPSTest" software worked fine. 10 sec to fix the satellite (excellent). But after 4/5 hours, I tried to run the GPS Software and the problem come back again , so I starting to think that GPS works fine but only for a bit! Should be overheat problem or client software problem... what you think?
Ciao

You failed to say whether you reverted to the old operating system,WM5 or "factory state" with no other programs installed! If you did not do this then it could still be "other" software or settings causing GPS to fail after a time. For example, some other program could be gradually filling up memory and causing the GPS data to be corrupted or lost, or some interaction between running programs or processes.
If your results ARE with a nearly empty/reverted operating system device as I described previously, then it does look to me that you do have a hardware problem. As you say, it may be an overheating issue or an internal circuit intermittent fault that gets worse with time, either memory, GPS chip(s) or circuit board connections inside.
But I stress, you must try with a totally clean and reverted device to be absolutely certain.
Hi all,
I have a strange phenomna I installed Tomtom 7 on my new HTC touch HD. I touched it did not work. because i do not have any GPS signal indicators but nevertheless strangely enough TOMTOM 7 is working fine.
The same version is on my Fujitsu Siemens N560 and there all is woorking well with GPS indicators working.
Are there any others who have the same thing? and what to do to get these indicators working?
tomtom version 7.450(9028)
gps version v1.20
map Western Europe v720.1802
Same for me on Garmin Mobile XT. It's due the newer GPS drivers support more satellites, so you need an update for TomTom. For me it's a minor issue as it doesn't affect navigation.
Cheers
Chrissi
Have you tried running QuickGPSFix program before launching TomTom, it help TomTom get signals

Tomtom is getting the Satelite signals (because tomtom is working perfectly)
the only thing is that i don't see any satelites.(the signal indicators on the driving screen are showing nothing) and also at the GPS status screen no satelites are shown.
The only thing there is saying that the built in gps reciever is giving me latitude blablabla minutes seconds etc.
So GPS is working but i can't see it.
quickgpsfix did not change anything. i tried that.
But i am glad Tomtom is working, it is only strange.
regards,
I have the same issue when I used WM6.5 version, once I changed back to WM6.1, the indicator works fine. (What version are you using it?)
tested on all Dutty WM6.5 versions and none of it works.
tested on all Dutty WM6.1 versions and works fine.
tested on Miri WM6.5 and it works.
tested on Panosha WM6.5 and it works only on few radio versions.
No Ideal at all............
Same problem with the same version of TomTom here...
I updated to TomTom 7.915 (9196) and the problem was gone...
I had this issue with Garmin XT.
I fixed it (accidentally!) by changing the GPS Program Port to GPD1 instead of a COM port.
After doing that it worked, and still works after changing it back to a COM port. No idea why.
I use it on a HTC Touch HD only 1 week old
original rom, dutch version. wm 6.1
If you are using Garmin XT and is default using "Use serial GPS", switch to "use GP intermediate Driver" and you will see the signal bars.
This is on My TOMTOM as well. It was strange at first especially as we have always had signal bars now I dont care as long as it works. You know what they say.... If it aint Broke...... etc
I have the same problem, running tomtom version 7.450.
This problem (no satellites) appeared after upgrading the rom to HTC version 1.56. Before, with the previous original HTC rom, the same version of tomtom worked perfectly.
I've got the same problem, too.
After flashing new (org.) HTC ROM, TomTom works fine, but signal indicator is not showing satellites.
ditto - same problem noticed since moving to cooked ROM, but I might have had it before to be fair.
I'm happy TomTom works but I'd like to see them if i can.
Guys,
The reason for not showing the satellites in TomTom is that these versions can't handle the number of satellites available on the GPS chipset. Don't worry as it makes absolutely no difference to the operation of TomTom.
Should have mentioned that this is due to the latest HTC radios. Can't remember from which radio version the full GPS functionality was implemented in but am sure if you check you can find the information.
I have the same problem on my Diamond 2, that is to say, Tomtom Navigator 7 works but the satellite indicator doesn't work. But, this morning I SAW THE INDICATOR WORKING!!! I was so happy. Then, in the afternoon, when I started Tomtom, the indicator did not work.... I am sure I did not dream this morning...
I am wondering what happened this morning. If I knew, I could make it work again...
As the satellite indicator worked once, it maybe that the driver is there.. Maybe some registry tweak may bring it to life...
I got same problem after I update my ROM. The navigation is working fine just without satalites indicator. I'm sure Tomtom had signal indicator before the ROM update. Anyone has solution?

I have the exact same problem with TT7!... I've tried everything in settings but can't get the signal bar to appear.
Does anyone have a solution or a cab file to fix this GPS issue in 6.5 ROMs? If not, atleast, TomTom works fine...
Yep,I have the same ,no indicators, tried reinstalling no difference, would love to have them working.
Don
One more here, HTC Diamond, TomTom7, newest radio.
I think that got broken when I updated to a new ROM/Radio some time ago, same TomTom installation had no such problems before.
It is a minor thing but does help to see how quickly you are going to get the full signal )
am using duttys holy grail R0 with Manila 2.1 radio 1.17 and TOMTOM 7.915.9196 and i get GPS signal indicators now. I didn't on 7.4, which is odd.
Hi,
I've search the forum to find my answer but with no result... Let me explain my problem:
I'm using Christians WM6.5.1 ROM (latest build). Everything works fine except TT7. I've tried several caps but none of them works perfect... The thing is that it won't recognize the build in GPS module. The app says "No GPS device!"
I allready tried to set the settings to "Another NMEA receiver" on the GPS-baudspeed of 57600 and COM:4... But it won't work...
With my TyTnII I didn't experience any problems but I'm pretty desperate to find the solution so I won't need my old Garmin Nav.System any more.
Does someone has an answer to my problem? Or maybe the same problem?
Please help!
hi.
i am also using christian's rom and i am using tomtom 7 without any problem.did you update your gpsfix data?use quick gps and update your data.if you cant get proper signal it will show 'no gps found'.once you pick up the signal it will work properly.
good luck.
Well the main problem is that the gps device that is build in the xperia x1 wil have to find the gps locations..
The first time it will take about 2 to 10 minutes before it finds the locations. After that first time it will take a few seconds to 30 seconds before it finds it's locations..
I had the same problem and it drove me crazy untill I found 2 posts on the internet that saved my life.
Just place your Xperia somewhere on a table in the garden and wait for it to load.
Greetings from Holland.
If I'm not wrong you should use the internal GPS and set the baudrate to 4800. 57600 is way too large.
Okay, I don't use Win 6.5, but also using 6.1 57600 is not working.
Hi,
I've tried your tip but without any results... TomTom tells me that there were no satalites which I was conected to but still got my location pretty pointed...
I drove the entire way on my TomTom but without GPS fix... I downloaded the newest position with QuickGPS before I ran TT7.
Could this be a bug or is it locating me on another way...?
i am using tomtom 7.915.9196.vga_black.cab without any problem.which radio version are you using?seems you are having very weird problem.good luck.
I use TTN_7.916.9189 and there are not problems
got christians rom too and tomtom 7.xx runs better than under windows 6.1 stock rom
Got it working... Don't ask how I did it Cause I really have no clue...!
But I'm really happy it finally works! Now I've got to see how I can get it into my "On The Road" panel to set it as my default navigator
also using christian's latest clean WWE rom.
it does find some satelites in tomtom 7.9xxxxxx, but still not possible to navigate or find a way.
what did you do?
i even let tomtom run till my battery got empty, but no luck?
maybe its the radio, still got the old one i think?
going to update to 7.915.9196.vga_black.cab now, hope that helps
