Artemis problem with GPS - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development
I have got here a upgraded Artemis and it just does not want to work properly with GPS. All the satellites are in the north point and it never gets a valid signal. I have already tried to flash it to the black & blue ROM but it still happens. The navi software i am using is TomTom 6.032.
Anyone got an idea what to do? It never works, not even on the street.

Thank you, it works! Vovander80, if you like, we can speak Chinese. Cheers!
if you like, we can speak Chinese
Sorry only=Russian+Romanian+Moldavian+Ukrainean
With GPS of my SPV M650 I fought 2-3 weeks
I have more another program-but these basic = think this is enough
I have done all of that but nothing helps. I simply can't get my GPS to work. IT shows me that all the satellites are in the north position and that is about it. I have changed the firmware and i have used all the fixes recommended here including GPS reset with no success. When i connect my BT received it works fine but that is not the point of having inbuilt GPS
I really hope someone can help me to get this damn phone working. Would it work better with WM05? If so has anyone got a link to it?
Thanks again to everyone helping in here.
I haved some problem=one satelit in north!
my problem was in contacts of antena!!!
Try to connect outside antena(back side connector!) i think you have some problem like my
http://rapidshare.com/files/21643937/Artemis-Inside.zip
On 6 page at right+up side you can see your gps antena
On 9 page you can see your contacts(problema!!!)
Try to make good connection!!!
If you speak french:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341952/#6
Otherwise, i'll explain in english cause I had the same problem:
I tried with the first Kulbutor patch (in my link)
If you install it just after the flash; there is no problem.
Moreover, if you are using Orange with AGPS, it works also. after having install the Orange.cab
Be carefull you must wait this (or these) install(s) before running tomtom; otherwise, it won't work
Hoping it will help you,
Regards
Thanks for the help. There is no Link in your Link. The link does not work at all. Please repost it. Thanks

GPS problem with GPS cam
Hello,
I just installed the artemis touch 4.02 WWE on my XDA I orbit. Everythings works fine, also Tomtom and visualGPS. But the GPS cam seems to be not able to start built in GPS when launching camera for GPS photo. The first time when I started the GPS cam, a pop up appeared with message "initializing GPS" or something like that, and I cancelled it by tapping cancel button. Now GPS cam is not working any more. Will this fixes solve my problem?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Chaps/Ladies (do we have any?!), I've been using TT5 for a couple of weeks now, and have a strange problem! Every now and then, randomly, TT5 will just exit whilst navigating. I drove 170 miles yesterday and it closed itself four times, the phone was off on three of the four occasions, as was wifi and BT. I've also had it freeze once or twice. The display just stops updating, though I can still tap the screen and exit cleanly. This used to happen more frequently with TT3. I've only run TT5 on the new 1.40 ROM. Anyone else suffering? TIA Dan
I have the same problem. Also running 1.40, tomtom sometimes just exists

I use TT5 daily & have never had a problem with it exiting. The display occasionally freezes, butI think I can put this down to when the traffic info is being updated because it only happens occasionally & it unfreezes after about 30 seconds or so

Go into the "Advanced Planning" option and simply pick your start and end points. You will then have a route that you can display as text, images etc, or even "demo" the route i.e. simulate it at speeds from 10% to 500% of "real time"

I switch off all POI.
Thank you. Thanks Weasel. I'll go ahead and load TomTom5 before my GPS arrives.
I have an XDA IIs with TT3, after i first installed it noticed it would crash randomly, which became really really annoying. After messing around with settings and 3rd-party software, i got nowhere. So I removed the **** O2 software that comes with the IIs, low and behold no more crashing. Is this also the case for TT5, I would like to know before upgrading? Don't really want to have to turn off the POI's to make it work.
This is all pretty interesting. I'm running a 1.40 O2 ROM and TomTom is not-as-stable-as-it-could-be. I'm going to do some more qualitative analysis to try and work out which of the crappy O2 software is the culprit - or if it's TomTom itself. We've got quite a few XDAIIs here and both of the ones with TomTom are flakey. More details to follow... [edit] Should have said - this is TomTom Navigator 5, with both bluetooth and wired GPS receivers.
AFAIK, the O2 Active software produces a memory leak. There are suggestions that TTN5 also produces a memory leak on 640x480 VGA devices. Perhaps the two are interacting? (Yes I know the XDA2s isn't VGA). Try monitoring available RAM while TTN5 is running. If it constantly reduces it will reach a point where the s/w crashes.
Where are we? @ all: Anyone know a solution to this problem? Apparently we need to use the POI.dat file from earlier installations, i.e. 4 or 3 and it will only crash 1% of the time. Until there is a patch for this we will have to settle for this solution it seems. BTW, does anyone happen to have the POI.dat file for the Benelux map, version 3 or 4? I seem to have "misplaced" my cd with the map on it, anyone can help a brutha out? PM me? Cheers in advance!
I've switched off POI ( that's NP for dutch users ) so it's stable now. Any word on the arrival of a patch for this problem?
poi.dat resolved poi. ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Blueangel/TomTom5/poi.dat

[Samsung i780] GPS cannot fix on any satelites
Hi, I am new here and just bought an i780 in S'pore 4 weeks ago, running on i780DXHD1 (Radio + PDA). I have been trying to use the GPS for weeks using the bundled NavFone but it always could not fix on any satelites. In the signal strength, there is no single bar appear. I tried MapKing, it is the same. When i checked on MapKing GPS data stream, it is always empty. when i checked on the dailpad, the GPS logo is active(not crossed). When i turn off the GPS application, the GPS logo is inactive (crossed). With this, can i assume the GPS hardware is working? But why no data stream? I have tried turning on XTRA, but it is the same. Below is my configuration: [NavFone] Software Port GDP1: Hardware port COM9: baud 4800 Windows managed: yes/checked [MapKing(trial)] Software Port COM8: Hardware port COM9: baud 4800 windows managed: yes/checked Please help.... I uses Agis software too, and based on my experience when you use it the first time, the signal tends to get a little longer than usual. At times, it can even be over 10 minutes before I get a signal. To assist your time to get the signal, I would advise you to use the Enhanced GPS found in your settings>system. Clicked on the enhanced gps and select Enable in the XTRA Enable. There is no need to select Auto Download (that is, Disable). This would mean that the device will also use the base stations to assist in finding the location of your device. Of course the downside to it is you will incur GPRS charges. Try it and see if you can get the signal.

Installed GPSGate, and found that now MapKing is able to connect to the port and receive data. co6ra, From the looks of your log file, it seems that your GPS chipset might not be working. Those coordinates that you have should come from the base station of the phone. I tried it indoor, and it seems that there are satellites showing, but just could not get a fix on it too (But then, I was indoor). Your log file might be useful, especially when you bring your unit back to SSC for service. P/S: My settings are as follows: Enhanced GPS XTRA is enabled but Auto Download is disabled. When running NavFone, my settings are as follows: Don't worry about the external GPS settings, just leave it as it is. I will feedback later when I am on the balcony. Please be patient. I have sent the same log to Agis and Samsung via emails. Waiting for their reply. Hopefully they can solve this by next week, so that i can use it when i need it most as i am travelling to Malaysia now. BTW, do you guys think that this might be a locked GPS? Anybody has any ideas? If so, how to unlock?
Locked? what do you mean? It shouldn't be and it should work right out of the box.
i am not sure also...read few article on locked GPS topic, which they key in a code to unlock/activate the gps unit.
No luck. Samsung Singapore support does not even want to reply to my email.... Just happen that one of my colleagues travelled to my local office. Has switched back to my old BenQ P50 and let my colleague to bring down the unit back to Samsung S'pore. They claim that it might be a software issue and saying that they are going to flash the latest ROM to see if it helps.

It is highly important that you have a working Sim card, correct GPRS or EDGE settings and that XTRA is Enabled! Use GPS Gate stock settings! ie. prior to running GPS Gate goto External GPS and select com2, then run GPS Gate and use the wizard and let it find Com2. GPRS/EDGE should try to connect automatically if not then switch it on, exit and restart GPS Gate. Be patient on the first fix it can take 5 mins, it should not take this long though. Wait until GPS Gate shows that dark green icon in app tray and has a valid position, once it does then execute your GPS software and use (Franson Virtual com 1) default comport generated by GPS Gate. GPRS/EDGE can be turned off after GPS Gate shows that it has your position and this need only be done once. This has worked on Omnia after many many hours of failure and frustration.

TomTom7 Navigator problems
Hi, I've search the forum to find my answer but with no result... Let me explain my problem: I'm using Christians WM6.5.1 ROM (latest build). Everything works fine except TT7. I've tried several caps but none of them works perfect... The thing is that it won't recognize the build in GPS module. The app says "No GPS device!" I allready tried to set the settings to "Another NMEA receiver" on the GPS-baudspeed of 57600 and COM:4... But it won't work... With my TyTnII I didn't experience any problems but I'm pretty desperate to find the solution so I won't need my old Garmin Nav.System any more. Does someone has an answer to my problem? Or maybe the same problem? Please help!
hi. i am also using christian's rom and i am using tomtom 7 without any problem.did you update your gpsfix data?use quick gps and update your data.if you cant get proper signal it will show 'no gps found'.once you pick up the signal it will work properly. good luck.
Well the main problem is that the gps device that is build in the xperia x1 wil have to find the gps locations.. The first time it will take about 2 to 10 minutes before it finds the locations. After that first time it will take a few seconds to 30 seconds before it finds it's locations.. I had the same problem and it drove me crazy untill I found 2 posts on the internet that saved my life. Just place your Xperia somewhere on a table in the garden and wait for it to load. Greetings from Holland.
If I'm not wrong you should use the internal GPS and set the baudrate to 4800. 57600 is way too large. Okay, I don't use Win 6.5, but also using 6.1 57600 is not working.
Hi, I've tried your tip but without any results... TomTom tells me that there were no satalites which I was conected to but still got my location pretty pointed... I drove the entire way on my TomTom but without GPS fix... I downloaded the newest position with QuickGPS before I ran TT7. Could this be a bug or is it locating me on another way...?
i am using tomtom 7.915.9196.vga_black.cab without any problem.which radio version are you using?seems you are having very weird problem.good luck.
I use TTN_7.916.9189 and there are not problems
got christians rom too and tomtom 7.xx runs better than under windows 6.1 stock rom
Got it working... Don't ask how I did it Cause I really have no clue...! But I'm really happy it finally works! Now I've got to see how I can get it into my "On The Road" panel to set it as my default navigator

GPS not workign
Hello together, i have my desire now since nearly two month. Im relly happy with the phone. But one problem: GPS is not working, i don't get a GPS fix. It didn't work as I had the phone completely new neither now after i rooted it. I already tried a couple of different radios but my phone doesn't find any satelites. Does anybody else has the problem? Is this just a software bug or is the hardware damaged? If I have to send it back to HTC, do you know how long does it take till i get my phone back? Im based in germany. Thank you very much for your help! best regards Tom
I only have my desire 2 days now, it has a orange uk branded phone, so I unbranded it to a stock htc rom, and I have the same problem as you, it takes ages to lock a gps signal. Today it took 30minutes to lock the gps signal on my ndrive.
I don't have a problem with my GPS on my Orange debranded Desire, what ROM are you debranding with? Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I use this one because of the portuguese language: RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.1_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121684.exe Do you use any program to help catch the gps signal? Regards
I lost mine with a radio update, had to use 32.30.00.28U_405.00.11 to get GPS working again. Which radio do you have?
NDrive has problems locking with the Desire's GPS. Launch NDrive, press home button, enable the GPS and goto NDrive again. That works for me most of the times. Or use Google Maps to get a fix and then launch NDrive.

I tried it with these radios: 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11 32.37.00.32U_4.06.00.16_2 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04 And with none of them I got GPS fix. I tried it also with differnt applications: Google Maps Navigon GPS Status GPS Test But without success, no GPS fix at all Oh by the way, i tried it also with the Stock ROM and with OpenDesire 1.4 and OpenDesire 1.5 €: I use now OpenDesire 2.1 with the newest Radio 32.42.00.32U_5.09.00.08 I still don't have any chance to find a satelite. Has anyone an idea to fix the problem?
i don't know if it's allowed on this board, i just wanted to push my message to the first page, after it was now on page 15. Perhaps anyone has an idea about fixing the problem. Thank you!
All that worked for me was trying the radio I had originally (before I started playing around). You tried any of the older ones?
Hi, I also now have a problem with GPS fix. First I have overheating & reboot problem, then MB were replaced & now I can't get fix (no satellites at view at all). I hope that this is software related (although I do not use GPS much). So probably somebody knew how to perform cold reboot of GPS sensor (I perform this with previous Touch Diamond to bring GPS back to life)?
