Odd...that cab worked just fine for me on my TP2, updated and then ran just fine. I don't think there's any way around the update, but it should still work for you. What exactly happens...any error or other message, or does it just crash?
I'm assuming you're on T-Mobile?

(T-Mobile US TouchPro2)
ROM: 1.91.531.4 (74508) WWE/5.2.21881 (Stock 6.5)
Sense: 2.1.1921
Radio: 4.49.25.57
Product ID MobiTV 3.2.1
Release ID: 1.0.0.11-109478
Version winmo/ppc/2.2.0.109484
Kind of glitchy, but have it sort of working.
1) I am running 6.1 so possibly part of the problem? I would upgrade to 6.5 but i would have to reload all my software ... correct?
2) My device name is now T-Mobile_LEO, I assume the MobiTv cab or swype cab that I downloaded from here (page with the T-Mobile HD2 preloaded software) changed it. I found in the registry the HKLM\System\Platform\OEMSTring = T-Mobile_LEO. I assume I can change it there. Any place else and anything that I should know?
3) once in MobiTV, how do you return from a screen (cancel, back, etc)? If I click menu, how do I get back? I have Help, Share, License, Subscription, and Privacy. But no way to get back.
4) how do you increase volumne? it is really low. My device volumn seems to have to effect.
I downloaded the cab from the HD2 preloaded page. Installed. It did a reset. Ran the software, immiedately it said that I needed a newer version. Clicked OK and it launched IE, at first it did not download. But I clicked retry and it downloaded MobiTV.cab. Launched MobiTV, do not remember exactly but got a couple of errors.
Now when I launch MobiTV, I get the message about a newer version. If I click OK it launches IE and I get a "MobiTV downloaded" immediately. If I click Exit or OK to the download - MobiTV will let me back in the next time. When I click on any channel. it does not play.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it did not help.

OK, got the delete button to go back (cancel). but how to do it on screen?

Well I think the first thing you'll need to do is apply that update. I'm guessing it just has issues with using IE for the download, I downloaded it through Opera (since it was set as my default browser), and that worked fine. Fortunately I happened to save the .cab file that the update was sent on, so I've attached it below for you to try....close MobiTV and run this cab and it should update your player and you can try running it again then.
As for the "back" button, I've always used the hardware button...the only on-screen method I've gotten any response from is a firm left-to-right swipe on the screen, across the titlebar that says "MobiTV" and whatever channel you're looking at. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't, so I've just gotten used to the hardware back button.
Same holds true for the volume too...I usually watch it over my BT headset, which controls the volume independent of system volume. I've never gotten the volume buttons to work once the app is started, I have to set the volume beforehand, or back out of the app with the homescreen button and adjust it then re-enter the app (sorry, I know that's pretty crappy).
Let me know if the cab makes any difference for you at least...

I was trying to get into MobiTv again, so it went to IE and said Downloaded. I looked away for awhile and when I looked back it was downloading and then it installed. No errors. Now it seems to be working without issue - just minor inconvenience (navigation and volumne).
No idea why it worked this time. Just glad that it did.
THanks.

BTW - downloaded your cab for when I upgrade to WM 6.5 and have to reinstall everything.
THanks again.

Anyone installed Black 3.0.1 on Vario II (T-Mobile)?

I'm currently running Black 2.5 (the T-MOB variant) and everything is fine.
But I'm tempted to upgrade to Black 3.x before I re-install all of my apps on my Vario (the speed improvement sounds good).
Has anyone with a Vario/T-Mobile installed Black 3.x? I see that there isn't (and will never be) a T-Mobile variant. What will I lose with a generic install? How hard is it to customise it for T-Mobile (UK)?
Thanks in anticipation.

Its fairly easy, all you really need are the internet and mms settings, look for a thread with operator settings in the title and find a cab file called t-mobile uk fixed.
Just drop it on to a storage card and run it whenever you do a hard reset or flash a new rom version.
Cant see why you would need the other t-mob customaizations as they mostly suck eggs.
Edit:cab file attached below
Here's the cab
Just drag to your Vario and run it.

Let me get this right. Upgrade to Black 3.x. Copy CAB to device. Run CAB. Voila? This sets everything I need?
I agree most of the T-Mobile extras are crap but I need the settings for Internet/GPRS/MMS/SMS etc.
Cheers.
yes, working fine here, all connection settings set manually.

Yep. I actually have a directory setup on my sd card called rebuilds with the cabs I need to reset my ppc up after flash/hard reset. Generally takes me about half an hour now to set up everything, including restores of pim records

I'm with Orange and my flashing routine now is:
1) flash new rom
2) run pimping changes
3) manually enter gprs and mms settings
4) sync with 4smartphone exchange server
5) run smsproviders cab off Storage card (to sort voicemail)
6) install spb pocket plus and customise today launchers
7) set up two pop mail accounts
8) sign in and configure windows live messenger
Got it down to about 15 minutes now (but it does help that exchange server syncing is so damn quick.)
I tend to install things like Reader that like a soft reset so it takes me a little longer.

Is it as fast as people say? Did you notice a speed improvement when you installed it?
MDA Vario II works with Black 3.01, what about rSAP?
Hi there,
Just as it has already been mentioned earlier (upgrade to 3.01 on T-Mobile MDA Vario II). I took the plunge today and installed version 3.01 straight from WM5. I was initially a bit apprehensive being my first update since I got the phone and I can confirm that it works well. I simply had to add the 3G and MMS settings back or just use the T-Mobile cab to get everything back to normal.
Speed actually seems faster than before. The question I have got now is what happened to the rSAP (Remote Simm Access Profile) as I need to ensure that I can use my phone in my "troublesome" Mercedes CLS. Never was able to pair it with the car so i'll be testing it tonight. I just noticed that the rSAP seems to be missing.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
Vido.
It works a treat, however when i goto use Live Messenger it cannot connect and doesn't present me with a login form like it did with Black 2.0... Is anyone else having trouble with this? I'm using a Vario II, i've tried connecting over 3G, Wireless and through ActiveSync, all with no joy,
The service may be down, mine works without any hitch. Then again, I haven't and never do install any other third party software.

All working ok for me, web'n'walk back working and exchange server sync'd ok. TomTom OK. Calls OK...
Only problem I have is connecting to a WPA2 WLAN.... maybe me.... maybe the Black 3.0 (2.5 worked ok). Need to spend sometime looking this evening.

TomTom
Justin, I take it you have the app TomTom on your mobile, rather than being a 910 or similar?
I took one of the other WM6 ROMs and the DUN (data transfer) has been removed so I can only use it as a hands free device and not to update traffic over GPRS.

I gave rSAP a try with an earlier black build, and I'm sorry to tell you that it behaved exactly the same as WM5 with the Merc car kit - i.e. just doesn't work (even once you've hacked the stack to make the Hermes look like a phone). If you get anywhere, it would be great to hear, but I'm afraid I think the Merc kit is just toooo limited in what it supports.

Hi Vido.
I hope you read the extensive guides mr Vanx has done on upgrading. If not, consider this a stern warning to do so *now* (link in my sig)
Your post suggests that you did not put on the olipro bootloader which means you are taking a risk flashing any OS rom onto your phone - if something went wrong, you would brick your phone.
For you and anyone else reading this, please read Mr Vanx's guides and save yourself, and everyone else, the headache of trying to recover your phone as this stuff voids your warranty.
Cheers,
Smiffy.
ok guys im on tmobile usa and mms doesnt work at all on any of the new wm6 roms. do you guys suggest that i try the uk settings
Hi, you need to check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299023
If USA not on here go to your T-Mobile website and do the settings manualy or get them from tech support...
Then post in the above thread!
Martyn
Hi Smiffy/All,
I actually followed all the instructions regarding upgrading to WM6 by flashing all the instructions in Mr Vangs guideline and used the 1.40.olipro bootloader. I just didn't type in all the details because of space. What I meant was that this is my first attempt at upgrading to WM6 after reading all the instructions in this forum.
Like I said my phone still does not work with the Mercedes Bluetooth UHI which is a pain and one of the reasons why I performed the upgrade. The other thing I have just noticed is that my ohne now finds it difficult to connect to my wifi at home using simple WEP key. I was only able to connect to my wifi at work only once after which it doesn't connect anymore. Has anybody else encountered this problem or is it only me.
Last question, is it possible to have the VOIP (Sip) work with T-Mobile? it shows up as "Service Blocked" and I read it somewhere that this can be tweaked. does anyone have the settings for testing this?
Apart from that the Black edition 3.01 is really cool.
Regards,
Vido.

No Maps Available in TomTom on WM6

Hi all,
I have an XDA Orbit on O2 which I got last week.
I have TomTom installed on the phone with the maps and voices etc on the MiniSD Card.
I went to use TomTom today, and it showed be the EULA and said No Maps available. I checked the SD Card, and I could access it and launch other applications which are installed on the SD Card.
I soft-reset the device, but still no fix.
Re-installed TomTom, and when it launched after installation it ran fine, however when I shut it down and opened it again i failed and showed No Maps once again.
I read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285511&page=1&highlight=Storage+Card thread, and installed the HTC Patch incase this was affecting me, however there is no change.
It seems that I can run TomTom if I re-install everytime I want to use it, however that obviously is no use at all.
Any help would be grately appreachiated, as I'm a little annoyed by this being that I have only had the phone for a week.
have you tried putting the maps on the device storage rather than your SD Card? some applications dont like being split over device and SD.
I have TTN6, and have the maps on the device under 'Program Files/Navigator/Zip/'
Hope this helps.
I had TomTom installed in this way on my XDA Mini S for 18 months with no problems, and as far as I am aware this is the way TomTom is designed to be installed.
Is the name of the TT-map map correct on minisd?
Check spelling.

..same issue
I had the same challenge.
There are one or 2 ways to resolve the issue.
1. Delete the maps, un-install TomTom software, you also need a reedit software to delete all references to TomTom in the regostry. Delete all other TomTom relevant files on the device /Program Files/navigator; /My Document/TomTom. Then soft-reset before installing all over again.
This I did for a friend.
2. In my own case, I reflashed with a new ROM, then installed all over again.
However, my friend had a cracked version, and I told him to go pay for the original, as you only need to pay for the maps these days. I cannot guarrantee 1. will always work.
I am currently using a cracked version also (tut-tut) but am getting the Western Europe edition for christmas from my other half.
The maps folder is named Great_Britain which worked on my Mini S on WM5 no problems.
Can you please advise where the TTN registry keys are, as I looked in HKCU and HKLM but couldn't find anything relating to TomTom. I did not remove all the existing stuff before re-installing so I may try this.
Just to clarify the technical points:
I am running the O2 WM6 ROM that was pre-installed on the device, and am using a SanDisk 2GB MiniSD card.
I don't see your TT version
What is your tt ver?

I'm using the same version now as previously on WM5 - Is that my issue?
I don't have the Mini S with me now, so I can't fire the software up right now, however I will look tonight and post the version, unless someone can tell me a way to find it some other way in the mean time?
Thanks
i dont think u can find the version number, apart from when u are running the program... just had a quick look on mine, and there aren't any files that look useful.
I'm having problems locating the software build version.
I've started TomTom on my Mini S which is working perfectly and loading the maps ok etc etc, however I can't see anything with the build or software number on it - Sorry for being a noob, but could someone point me in the right direction.
Many Thanks
Just open TomTom and press where the signal strength is shown, it will show at the bottom right, at least in version 6.030.
I hope you know that map's from TT5 are not compatible in TT6

Hiya mate i used to have this problem too
1. Make sure u dont have bluetooth explorer switched on
2. soft reset your device see if that works
Hi all,
I knew I wasn't being stupid trying to find the version number, so I've taken a picture of the GPS Signal screen - Attached.
I disbled Bluetooth Explorer and this is now working again perfectly, without changing the maps - These maps I have used on WM5 and WM6.
I personally don't see why Bluetooth Explorer would do this, unless TomTom is foolithly trying to look for maps over Bluetooth, but thanks for the help everyone.
to find the version number with TTN6:
-Start TomTom
-Tap on the bottom right of the screen where it shows time/speed/signal strength
-it should bring up a screen which shows your last route, signal on the right and bottom right of the screen the version, which you can tap on and get a detailed view.
Hope this helps.
I also have the same problem, where it says no maps found. It used to work and then all of a sudden it stopped. It is not a cracked version.
Can someone please help me!
Thank You
did you try the soultion in reply 16? it worked for me

No more weather updates, and no idea why.

Hi everyone,
now here's a strange one (well, honestly every problem I encounter without understanding it, appears strange to me )
I have an HTC P3300 with the official WM6 from the HTC Site. I also installed the HTC.Kaiser.Home..with the 6 buttons.
My Problem concers the Weather Updates. At the beginning everything went fine. I connected myself at home to my wireless router, and downloaded the newest weather informations. (At the beginning I had some trouble to add cities that were not on the preinstalled list, but in the end I resolved this problem too.)
Yesterday, after more than a month where nothing went wrong, I suddenly had to re-enter my WPA-Code to access the router (no idea why). And from that moment on, I can not download any weather data. It doesn't matter if it is a city that I added or a city from the original list. On the other side, I still can download the QuickGPS data, and surf on the net. So the connection should work properly,...
Any ideas?
I already thank you in advance. I always could rely on the perfect solutions on this site.
have the same problem.
all was working before but now since one week, i canĀ“t download weather data.
Try looking @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319187
I was in the same boat as you ... have just downloaded and installed the updated cab .. all is well now
Cheers
Mark
Okay, but do you know, why this suddenly appears? I mean is it only a program error, or has it something to do with the fact that it happened simultaneously with the need to re-enter the WPA-code?
I just want to know the reason, before reinstalling everything, or before following the recommandations of the above posted link,...
Do I have to presume that the fact that I can no longer download weather data and the fact that all of a sudden I had to re-enter my WPA-code, are not related? No dark connection settings ruling the special weather data download, while all the other downloads are running normaly?
And does the link posted before, with the updated HTC Homeplugin with the working weather tab, works for everyone? Not that I don't believe Mark, just wanted to check? No bad feelings Mark! ;-)
Thanks for the help.
Here I am again. I have just re-installed my Homeplugin and now the weather tab is completly empy! The first line with the city name is empty, I still can click on it to access the city list, but there will be nothing displayed in the tab. Also the big field where the weather forecast should be, is empty, even no "could not download data", nothing, just a big black empty tab. :-(
Now I presume I have to download the patched cab file at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319187
Somebody can help me which file/files I have to download, because I do not really have a clear view on the hole thing anymore? I have P3300 wit WM6 (official HTC WM6). :-S
Thanks a lot.

Just curious, but what file did you download? I've read this link before and today I've been reading the instructions he gave in that link to a separate page, and I'm totally confused as to what the H*ll I'm supposed to do! There are so many options and files. I thought I knew a little about this stuff but, right now, I'm just take his advice to just leave you phone alone if you don't know what you're doing. I've been contempating this for over a month now.
Everything just works fine again. Thanks for all your help.
Here's the detail what I've made, perhaps it will help you shawndh, but I have also seen that N2A has now transferred everything to a new page http://weather.not2advanced.com/files/
- I uninstalled my Plugin
- I downloaded and installed the SdkCerts.cab
- I downloaded and installed the Shen-6tab-cab v2.1 with the N2A weatherpatch. On the new page, it is the second link under "Released patched versions of HTC Home" (if you too have a P3300 this is your plugin).
Hope I could help you. I know the old page was not very easy to understand, N2A helped me, thanks again. The new page seems a lot easier for newbies like me.

Problems With HTC Home 2.1_Hermes_n2a

Before I upgraded to Sprint's leaked Rom, Hermes_n2a worked flawlessly on my Touch. Now that I have upgraded to GPS, can't seem to get Hermes_n2a to run on my unit. It locks the unit up. The only way out is a hard reset. I like the Hermes_n2a program because I can use it with emunutz HTC Home Customizer. All the other 6-tab home customizer programs when used with emunutz program, after soft reset or normal power-up causes the home plug-in screen to disapper. There nothing there but an empty space where the home plug-in should be. Anyone know how to resolve this problem? Is there another 6 tabs HTC Home program I can use that wont lock the unit up?
Had the same exact problem trying to reinstall after 6.1 upgrade. Then I found another version that supposedly had a fix, so i tried after a had reset and 2.1 installed 1st try no problem. I then installed HHC and was able to restore my previous backup from the storage card no prob.Ive attached the cabs I used. Cant guarantee we have the same rom, since it looks like there are so many versions of the (un)Official sprint one, but this Worked For ME.
Your suggestion worked. Program installed smoothly and is currently running with no issues to date. Thank!!
Thanks for this post! I was having the same problem, but seems to be resolved with this version.

New XDA Zest firmware

There's a new Zest firmware available for download from http://www.my-xda.com/. The filename is Xda_Zest Firmware Update_V7.7.0S.WWE20.00_M4.6.5.P7_V2.1.4 GBR20, which seems to be updates to most of the roms inside the zest. It's installing at the moment, and the upgrade interface on the phone is displaying "GalaxyMini5 Eboot (3.33.0). Since this appears to be a codename for the P565, I guess this is more evidence that the XDA Zest is simply an underclocked P565 and more evidence that P565 firmware may well work on it.
Warning, this firmware does not appear to contain the O2 menu software, or the free GPS software that comes with the phone (although maybe the latter can be re-installed from the SD card). Shame - I rather liked the O2 menu interface.
what improvements does it have? Is it actually worth upgrading?
Thanks.
The only things I can see that I don't remember seeing before are a couple of new or updated control panel entries. Video calling is probably the really important one.
You seem to lose the RSS reader, the O2 auto settings, the O2 menu and the GPS s/w (although the latter was only a demo). I have no idea if using the SD card that came with the Zest will restore these, as I don't have it. (If the software is all on there somewhere, and someone could bung me a copy, I'd be really grateful.)
It does make me wonder how the P565 firmware compares. I understand it has a nice touch interface on it.
It seems odd that the new firmware would remove all the o2 specific bits. Great if you want to use it on another network I suppose, but I quite like the mobile shell or o2 menu.
The satnav software isn't on the sd card - only the maps.
The instructions say:
Please note that if you already have CoPilot satellite navigation software on your Xda, refer to the Xda Zest user manual before upgrading your device software.

I couldn't see anything of significance in the user manual.
Interesting. I actually have Tomtom for GPS on a different SD card, which is related to the reason I don't have the original SD card. Tomtom autoinstalls from the SD card, so I thought it might be that the O2 software installed itself from the SD card provided by O2. I guess that if it's only maps on the SD card then that's not the case, and the new firmware does strip out all the O2 extras, which seems like a peculiar decision to say the least.
Still, it did get me to try the new SPB mobile shell 3, which is what the O2 menu is based on, but nicer. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the $35 for just a flashy finger driven interface. The weird thing is, it actually might be.
I'm actually going to upgrade my firmware to new one which is currently available in O2 site. What I want to know is if upgrade mine to the latest what would be the changes I may seen... Is it worth upgrading by loosing all the software?
So far I've seen nothing to write home about. The only reason might be if you can't already make video calls and want to do so. (I never make them, so I have no idea whether or not they're supported in the original firmware.)
I just upgraded mine to new firm ware. It worked fine for me. I didn't lose any O2 extras inc O2 menu. It was Oki but haven't tried yet to make video calls.. I will install iGO8 and will uninstall the co-pilot.
SPB Mobile shell 3.0 Rocks working smoothly with my Omnia and Xda Zest
I've just updated, and I didn't lose any O2 extras either (including Copilot). I backed up the Program Files\Copilot folder on the device to my PC before updating, and copied it back over after the update and voila, I've still got my fully activated version of Copilot. It did still prompt for allowing it to connect to the net during the 14-day trial the first time I ran it, but the license screen confirms it's the full version.
aDe
I have a working theory that the autorun on my Tomtom SD card might have run in preference to some autorun that might otherwise have run the first time the OS booted. I could test this by re-installing the firmware, but it's kind of a pain to have to put all the data on again.
Having played around some more and browsed the Extended ROM on my device, this does appear to be what happened, as all the CAB files are present. Fortunately this is a bonus for me, since I'm not on O2, and most of these files are useless to me, and I can therefore just pick and choose the apps I'd like to install.
This might be useful to other Zest users - the hack to make the Extended ROM visible:
Use your favourite Registry Editor to make HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ONDisk2\FATFS\MountHidden set to 0 (default is 1)
You can then browse to \ASUS_ROM\ in Total Commander to view your Extended ROM partition. The ROM does not appear to be write protected, so you can now put all the packages *you* want re-installed on a hard reset in there. Neat.
I contacted O2 support about this issue, and they replied saying that:
On occasions the O2 menu can drop off after a ROM upgrade, but this would usually be resolve by either hard resetting or running the upgrade again. The o2 menu is still installed on the new ROM.
Click to collapse
I have now done this upgrade and have retained the 02 menu. The radio reception seems a bit better as I now get HSDPA at home, which I didn't previously, so the radio upgrade seems to be worth it.
ringer
ive got the zest and am happy with it so far apart from the last 2 days i cannot hear it when i get a call everything else works ie.system sounds, core player etc but the actual phone wont ring it just vibrates ive reset it a million times and checked system settings etc but nothing so if anyone has any ideas i would be very grateful, also how do you know if you are getting hdspa or not is there a setting for it or something, cheers guys.
The connectivity icon at the top right of the screen shows what communication protocol is being used by showing a symbol (usually just a single letter) in a solid square. The letters I have seen so far are:
G - GPRS (2G)
E - EDGE
3G - 3G (this is the odd one out with the two letters squashed together)
H - HSDPA
It's worth mentioning that on my train ride home I see all four protocols at different points, and the hand-off between them is very smooth.
thanks for quick reply i will keep an eye on it, still no joy with my ringer though its very strange. never had a problem like it on my orbit. i will keep investigating ,also do you know if anyone will be coming up with a rom for zest as i miss manila 2d although mobile shell v3 is good.
Have you checked:
Start->Settings->Sounds & Notifications
On the Notifications tab you can select the "Ring type", one possible choice of which is "Vibrate", which will make the phone only vibrate on incoming calls. Just guessing.
yes ive tried all that it might be affected by software ive installed recently i will try unistalling them one by one and see if that helps, failing that il do a hard reset i guess, anyone know how to hard reset the zest? thanks for your help.
There is a contortional key sequence for this, but you can also reset it by going to:
Start->Settings->System Tab->Default Settings
cheers managed to sort it , i installed mini lyrics software and ticked all in associating files which for some reason stopped the phone from ringing
thanks for your help.
