Seems like a dumb question, but does anyone know where I can get it for the TouchPro2?
Thanks for any input
Uhm, ahem....yes.
Do you mean Windows Phone 7 perhaps? If that is the case then no, you cannot and likley never will (save for some truely herculean effort by some xda dev) be able to get that running on your TP2.
If you meant regular Windows 7, you might want to pick up a laptop...
Well, I had Windows Mobile 6.5 atm, and I was just wanting to upgrade to 7. Is this possible?

"7" isn't going to be released for months yet, and even when it is, there won't be an official version for the TP2, the only way you'll be able to get it is if some xda developers manage to stuff it into this hardware, which is well below the minimum specs MS has said 7 will require to run.
Currently of course no because WP7 is not out for any phone yet.
But as I said even in the future this is unlikely as WP7 has strict hardware requirements (specifically the 1ghz snapdragon cpu and capacitive multi-touch screen) that the TP2 does not meet. It is perhaps conceivable that someone here will manage a hacked port with minimal functionality at some point, but I doubt if it would ever be complete or usable.
If you had an HD2 on the other hand, I'd say there's a good chance of being able to upgrade at some point.
Oh, maybe putting windows 7 in there was the wrong word. Is there anyway to update to the latest version of windows? Cause I installed something, and it said I needed the later version of it. Any ideas?
If you want latest 6x windows find your fav ROM n flash it. 6.5 is at 21901 and 6.5.5 is at 23563. I dont think a higher number is a later build between the two. 21xxx ROM's in my opinion r more stable. Its all in taste
What did you install? You probably just need the latest version of the .NET Compact Framework, which you can grab here.
I would like to know where to get Windows 7 OS on my Touch Pro 2. I need it because it will support my graphics card better.

C'mon rory, let's not be rediculous now...you know the only way to get more out of your video card on the TP2 is to use liquid cooling

Also looking for Touch Pro 2 drivers for my 5.25 floppy drive.
Rory, why don't you design a HTC HD4 that has WP7 or higher, HTC TouchFlo 3.5 or higher, CDMA-GSM- WiMax, 100GB LAN, 1GB RAM, 1GB ROM, 32 GB Storage, support for up to 10TB Micro SDXC Card, full 1080P video, Holographic Display, at least a 2 GHZ Quad core CPU, USB 3.0 or higher, HDMI, Bluetooth 2.0 or higher, 2 GB video card, full sliding and tilting keyboard, and a 10,000 MAH battery. And while you are at it, have it cooled with Liquid Nitrogen and Liquid Helium. Then maby this might satisfy your needs. And yes I know this is a wise crack, but all in fun though.

Well Norman, If you have learned anything from this I hope that it's do your research on your own before coming out and asking something that... well, as you can see is a little goofy to ask. Even searching windows 7 on tp2 in google you would have seen its not possible right now.

I have planned to buy O2 XDA IIs from my frnd (2nd hand for sure)

It's a great device, you won't make a mistake It has Intel PXA263 400mhz processor (This is the only thing i don't like in blueangel. It is not so fast. If you plan to play 3d games it is not very good for this. But you can easily overclock it with pocket master to 530mhz. With this frequency it handles everything without Snow Rally - there's a little lag and you can't play Playstation 1 games even if you overclock it to 590. I got 21-23fps in Tony Hawk Pro Skater with @530mhz and Frameskip - 2), 128 ram (This is great! With so much ram you don't need real close button. But there are no applications that wants more than 32 ram, so this is not a big advantage), Big screen and the best design for games(The screen is perfect. It wouldn't be bad if there was VGA screen but QVGA is not so bad either. In web browsing the qvga resolution is a big dissadvantage. You have to scrool a lot. But now there are browsers now that supports Zoom function. With it the browsing is good even on qvga device. When Opera 9.5 comes out it will rock And the design is great for games. It's like joystick when you handle it in landscape position and there are many buttons), 64mb Flash Storage(It's not much but you don't need more. There are SD Cards for that), SD/MMC expansion slot( The bad thing here is that it doesn't support SDHC, there are no drivers for that and there won't be in future ), CIF camera (It is really badd. The image quality is similar. If you try to record video it lags. I don't know why :/ It does it wven in the lowest quality), WiFi( No problems here), Bluetooth (No problems here either), IrDA( It can't be used as a remote controller because the irda range is around 3 meters)
And finally the PocketPC comes with WM2003. You can install WM6.1 but I recommend you to wait for explode's WM6.1. His roms are the best With the new windows the pocket becmoes really fast and stable. That's all, it's a great device

I don't quite understand this question. If you are asking if it was sold under the name of Blue Angel, no. Blue Angel is the HTC internal name for the phone. It was never sold by HTC directly, but to the various cell carriers who rebadged it with their own plastics and ROM/applications.

Pros:
Good CPU speed (the keiser runs at the same speed, 400 mhz)
The CPU has been around for a while, so 3rd party apps that are designed for the CPU work well.
Good physical size on the screen
Lots of storage and program memory when the extended ROM is resized/removed.
Cons:
Since it is an older platform, any MW version after 2003 is a hack. The drivers are generally ported from other phones and there are various bugs that will probably never be fixed due to a lack of hardware drivers. Everything does work, there are just various quirks.
Radio range (bluetooth, wifi, etc) are not the best. Heck, they often tend to be down right crappy.
Unless someone is able to write and release a SDHC driver for the card slot, it will never support SDHC cards, which will limit the phone to 4 gig cards. 2 gig is the official spec for SD, but there are a few 4 gig non-SDHC cards out there.

I would. MW6 is a huge improvement over 2003 and 5. The latest ROM builds out there work very well, if not 99% perfectly, and are fast.
In my opinion, Hemli releasing wm6 for the angel breathed new life into the device.
Really, I wish HTC would revive the device, make an updated version of it. The form factor, while is a bit big for a phone, is great for usability as a PDA.

I second that! Just ditched my Hermes for my old trusty Blue Angel, which blows the pants off it! I forgot how much I loved the 3.5 inch screen!
Rookie as well with the Blue Angel
I am getting started with the Blue angel as well (O2 Xda IIs)
I like it a lot this will probably become my best buddy during my travels
I got a couple of complementary questions about it.
I intend to use it for business purposes, mainly Internet through
Wifi and GPRS, pdf and offices documents.
I saw on this forum that you advise to change from WM 2003SE to Windows Mobile 6 (the last published by Microsoft)
-My question is: This PDA is already a bit old now, is it going to work smoothly wit the very last OS, which is designed for more recent PDAs (i.e which should be more efficient).
I mainly want to use it for Internet, wich browser do you recommend ?
Internet explorer? Opera Mobile? Opera Mini? other browser?
By the way what is the difference between Opera Mobile and Opera Mini
you should go with opera mobile, as it is better suited for pda's. opera mini is suited for java based mobile phones.

man i wish they would do that, or release a device with the same glorious screen but with contemporary features, all in all the blu angel is still a killer device 4 years on.
Absolutely right. I had been using the subj for 4 years in nearly extremal conditions, uprading and downgrading firmware dozen times. But, unfortunately it died as hero. Really great gadget, legend of HTC platform challenging ages.
Hi
Well with WM 6.1 it does everything I need and thats for sure I have my pick of devices and always come back to this one - and the 11i which is just about as good
I cant think of a time I have been upset with what it does or doesn't do. I intend keep one for as long as it will run....

never say never. we've seen how programmers and cooks have taken windows xp and customized it into usable os's for low end pc's. tiny xp being just one example of this.
so i have full confidence that our cooks here can create a recipe that will be usable on our excaliburs. good luck guys.
I hate to be a downer, but with under 100 MB of ram (68 MB I believe, most of which is used already by the OS and other functions, leaving the user with around 20 MB) and a very small ROM size (newer OS = more space taken) AND a processor clocking in at no more than 250 Mhz OVERCLOCKED, it doesn't seem possible for a Windows 7 ROM to run on our beloved phones.
Notice how with every new OS, the space requirements go up and up (this applies to all devices) whereas XP used somewhere around 6GB I believe and 7 now uses up to 17GB ... If Win7 Mobile proves to be a GREAT (and I mean phenomenal) OS, then there is the chance, but I wouldn't get hopes up too high [especially since our Excaliburs are becoming yesterday's model and chefs are scarce in these parts].
you do relise the newq os takes less space then old xp right? the old xp is so bloated now with updates that if they can slim it down they can slim down win 7 not to mention there is a starter version of 7 made for netbooks, however even the full version runs well on my small netbook, and it has only 1 gig total ram. infact im typing this on my win7 home premium netbook right now.
after a bit of googling i realized you're probably right. the specs required for the new windows mobile 7 OS as reported, will be too much for the excalibur to handle. i still think there are people that could size it down but it would be a job for sure. you'd still need to have those core windows system files.... but as with other OS' they always include bloatware that can be removed to improve functionality. guess we'll have to wait and see...
on the plus side, there is a work in progress attempting to port the new android OS over to the excalibur. it is based on a linux kernal. from what i've read it's bootable but they still have some work to do on it. more on that can be read about here...

How do u think about this video? this device is like HTC Elf which has only 64MB of RAM and 200 MHz of CPU.
Anyways, i hope Windows Mobile 7 can be similar to Windows 7 that can run faster event 1GB of RAM if we compare with Vista.
i think as a company, microsofts target market is the user with a newer smartphone/ppc. i wouldnt be surprised if they had some deal with the cell phone makers that requires you to have to buy a new cell phone to be able to use the newer OS. however, i still hold out hope that the hackers will break down the Mobile OS itself and get it running like a pro.
vid still looks nice though. the date on the upload was 2008 so im sure there has been much work on it since then. beta testing anyone?

Haha Stylez, I was just about to comment on that video.
Regarding the user who mentioned that Win7 is smaller than XP, I would like you to double-check that, or maybe check it for the first time, becuase I am more than 99% sure that due to the immense amount of Hardware Acceleration and other optimizational code in the Win7 core, the size of it is larger than XP. You can see this also by the fact that Win7 asks if you want to make a partition for the OS alone (which turns out to be 16-17GB) while XP (which I have installed on my own HDD) takes up no more than 18GB on my 75GB HDD and that is with all my usual apps installed (3Ds Max, Visual Studio (Full), Adobe suite ALTERNATIVES, Firewall/AV, plus all the other random freeware I tend to install for the heck of it) [I estimated around 6-7 because of the apps installed]...Also realize that the hacked XP (coined MiniXP) fits on a CD, so OBVIOUSLY there was enough to take out that it could shrink down immensely and still keep its functions... So i am pretty sure than XP doesn't take too much space...
SEMI-EDIT:: I left this window open and forgot to post, so i googled the size of an XP installation...refer to http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-xp/size-of-xp-install/154115.html where people claim to install XP with only 1.5GB of HDD....i think that settles that...

lol spot on all you need to do is notice XP Pro comes on CD & Windows 7 on DVD.. There is a reason for that
Also my XP Pro SP3 Slipstream comes in @ 1.3GB after i remove the page file "solidstate disk" so 3.3GB before
Windows 7 comes in from 5.5GB+
I don't think that it will ever get to run on the dash, just because all of the animation, interfaces, plugin's, and all the ram that's gonna be needed for newer OS's.
I'm only speaking my opinion, but aren't almost all new Win Mo devices coming out with touch screens. I think if there was any older device that would get a version of WM 7 will be the Htc Tilt/Kaiser that has 112mb storage and 101mb ram, or the Htc Fuze/Raphael that has even more, around 294mb storage and 187mb ram.
I think that it would be awesome if someone would have that much skills to make it happen but, like TouchFLO on dash never happened, Android has been on the works since october 2008 and still hasn't happened.
But anyways who knows!

All speculation we have very well informed user that is stating it's based on Ce Os 7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=620477
Think the Kaiser will be left behind due to the lack of storage space and also think accelerometer gyrator going to come into play alot more with WM7 from what been reading.
But like i say all speculation, one thing i can say is the Excalibur won't as it's just too slow too small "not regards size" and it's turned out that HTC now are really a PPC adventure even though they have SP's still in the market place....

Eazy roloracer,
Yeah it's an advert future concept cloud network. But i can see the likely hood of porting since it's still very well specked and people are stating the snapdragon doesn't add an amazing amount of difference in feel from the Qualcomm MSM750xx, but we will all have to wait and see.

Keep more than your fingers crossed "it's not going to happen if you look @ all the videos floating around it's highly gui intensive" unless they bring out a version for SP that can work on very old equipment to which considering all SP's are now about 500MHz and have far more storage & RAM it's highly unlikely...
You now know what is this WP7 in much more detailed.
OS characteristic, apps, marketplace, hardware requirements, upcoming models.
What now?
What more do you want to know?
For me ...
I want to see HTC device of Windows Phone 7 series!
It better to be HD3, and it should be much more powerful than HD2 spec wise.
I want the best of the best hardware, so my sacrifice of WP7 limitation will be paid-off.
- 4.3" screen size
- super responsive multitouch
- 1+ GHz Snapdragon
- very (very) long battery live (to compensate no multitasking!)
- 32 GB internal storage (to compensate no sd card)
Update:
I gave up ... I ordered Android phone (HTC Desire).
Too many limitations and restrictions.
The more I think, it became clear that WP7 is not my right choice, at least for its first release.
I will wait the next release, WP7.1 or WP8
I need to see a real device with 4"+ screen, and, most certainly, jailbreak.
Waiting for the HD3-announcement as well and game developers announcing their support for WP7!
i want everything you do besides that 4.3 screen plus a slide out keyboard & i wanna know more about browsers and video players & what kind of battery life should we expect on average from these devices
I'd like to see a Touch Pro 2 like device (ie: made totally like the TP2) but with the following guts:
-3.6" Screen, AMOLED or not, don't really care for a device this small.
-Snapdragon CPU, 1 or 1.3 ghz
-1Gig Ram
-64Gig of memory. I have about 40 gig of music on my Zune software xD
How about a HD Pro device...
which I see as a HD2 with keyboard! That would be sickness!

You cannot have more than 32 GB memory, as I recall.
Btw., you don't need 1 GB RAM - this is just a dumbphone without multitasking, so there's no need for that much RAM.

True, as computers don't really need 24GB of ram...
What do you mean, we can't have more than 32 GIGS? Oo
i want an HTC with 4,5" amoled screen with true multitouch this time, preferably at least more than 2 registred fingerpoints.
Also, i'd like to see dedicated gaming buttons... still, nothing beats hardware input to play games, ofcourse, combine it with the multitouch touchscreen and you have a killer device. Maybe they can fiddle a qwerty keyboard between the d-pad and the action buttons. or only give us a d-pad on the left side of the keyboard and the action buttons we can assign with the qwerty keyboard. add some shoulder buttons, that could also function as a camera shutter. maybe a front camera... not that i make use of videocall, but fun to be use in games, sorta project natal on a mobile device. example game could be... a catapult. with the back camera you scan your surroundings and when you find your target, act if you were pulling the rubber band and virtually release a bunch of fun to your friends face, or something like that. have algorythm recognize windows and virtually catapult a rock into the window....
yeah... some useless app... but hey, if we copy apple, we should copy some lame apps too
*LOL* ... You made me laugh

Don't you mean extremelyfuckingsnappable!
I'll be buying nothing until someone can confirm a compatible fart app.
I'm looking for something like my Touch Pro2 form factor wise. As long as it has a nice 5 row QWERTY and made by HTC I'm game. I don't mind the screen size but if they made it bigger I'd have no complaints.
I want to know if any kind of Navigation Software will be delivered along with WP7 if none will be included, which Software will be available for it as soon as the new HD3 gets available in the end of this year.
How 'bout a plain old HD2 Pro thats WP7 compaitble?

How 'bout a plain old HD2 with Android?
Sucks that the Desire has a smaller screen and only one LED, but I have ordered one and will replace my HD2 with it.

Almost too good to be true... I'd love to have a WXGA (1280x720) screen resolution!
Do you guys really think of dual-core arm 1,5 ghz cpu?

Old news: http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Sna...bile-CPU-war-beyond-1GHz-article-a_12546.html
So, where is it? Can't be that it hasn't been leaked if the release is so soon.
I spotted this a few days ago as well... I am not sure what to make of it as the info for it is rather scarce and tbh anyone can make a spreadsheet like that... and say it is an official "leaked" document from HTC...
I remain skeptic on this issue. If anyone can confirm this to be true, I will personally make an article for the front page for it.
4.5 inches? I'm not too sure if I would go for something that big.
3.8", yes. But don't people find 4.3" and up to be a little bit too big? Its like a mini-tablet.
Also, I was reading that article on the CPUs. Will you need a graphics chip in your phone in order to play high-quality 3D games or will a 1.2 ghz core 2 duo be able to handle that?
My plan expires this winter, so I am looking almost frantically for the perfect phone with dual cores and awesome performance and all that . (best time for my plan to expire)
4.3 is fine. Not sure about "and up". 3.5 is too small.

The bigger the better - I think I can go as high as 5". I've actually been looking at tablets myself. Right now I'm trying it all on for size: I have a travel laptop, an alienware laptop (it's not what I would call airplane portable, but I can take my desktop with me if I want to, and I do want to ), an iPad, and my phone.
Ultimately, I'd like it to be the phone and the mongo-laptop - so a bigger screen would be better. There are just some things / situations that lend themselves better to each of the 4 devices as they are right now.
As for the GPU - it's already in the 1.2 dual core chips (they are a System On a Chip - SOC). And yes, I think it's needed for the best 3D rendering but I'm not an expert
I'd like to have it.. only if..
Hmm.. spotted this in Google when looking for Win Phone 7 info.
Definitely, the spec is too good to be true.
One thing is that *no* GPS was mentioned in any of the posts..
But if I have to choose, I'd like to have GPS over HDMI..
Also, it seems Win Phone 7 still do not include multi-language input..
That means if I buy this phone, I'll have to search the Google again for JPN+Korean+Chinese input again, not to mention that it is highly possible to hard-reset the mobile for million times
I believe that 1800 mAh is not enough. HD3 will need to charge two times daily.
Cant beleive people here are falling for this BS:

Worse still - news yesterday was that even though Qualcom is shipping the 1.5 GHz dual core chips later this year, they wont make it into devices until mid to late next year. So, you can pretty much bet that the HD7 will not be 1.5GHz, if it is released this year.

For those of us with HD2s, there is little motivation to move to a WP7 then. The 1.5ghz units will probably sport a better version of WP7 anyways.
So I'm sitting here with a Samsung Cetus running Windows Phone 7 and beside the about menu in system settings, is there anyway to check for more specs.
I'm looking for CPU, RAM and so on.
There's a "more info" button on that page that shows the memory, etc. Don't think CPU or other chipset info is exposed anywhere.
And pics?
Woha, that's the only phone I think will have something else than Qualcrap, Cetus is the one I will buy.
Disassemble it now!! I want to know the specs
Sadly the more info button only shows model, Windows Phone 7 and storage. Total Storage: 7.39gb -- Ava. Storage: 6.88gb
And then revision of firmware, hardware, radio, bootloader and chip SOC.
Not sure I can share pics of it. It's not Cetus btw, my bad, had them mistaken. (CORRECTION: IT IS CETUS) It's the Samsung GT-i8700, not sure it has a name, unless they decide to call Samsung GT-i8700 Cetus.
Giz has pictures of it: http://gizmodo.com/5634058/leaked-shots-of-windows-phone-7+running-samsung-gt+i8700 The version I have is identical in looks, though a newer build in software.
Would probably require you to sketch up a quick application. Not sure if there's any APIs that allow you to read out any significant information.
Yeah you are properly right, but I'm not even sure if I can install an app, if it's not on the market

Should be able to hook it up to a pc and deploy one (might require you to be a dev in the marketplace though). That doesn't change the fact that we don't have an app to do the checking hah.
Hmm, using the GraphicsAdapter stuff from XNA you might be able to glean some information to close in on the stuff. For instance, would it say something like "Adreno 205" (assuming there's such detailed information there and that the WP7 XNA API supports it), you'll know that it's the second generation chipset.
Good idea, installing XNA 4.0 now.
Ideally the whole Visual Studio Express for WP7 shebang, or whatever it is called.

The Vendor ID in there is the one from NVidia and the Device ID the one of the 8800GT. Coincidentally, there's a NVidia 8800GT in my system.
I figure that the ARM SoC's or the internal graphics devices have similar IDs registered.

That silly project. It's possible that you need to register the device as developer device on the WM marketplace to deploy stuff. No idea.

Does it have a 4 inch screen?
Doesn't look like this is going to be easy. Windows can't see the phone, because of missing drivers
It's a 4 inch screen.

Yea, you need the Zune 4.7 that's posted on the private Microsoft Connect site.
Is that a late developer phone, or did you get your hands early on a different way?

Hands early on a different way for a couple of days, giving back some feedback to one who lend me it.
I also had Desire HD for some days, I'm more impressed with this one though, but that's properly because everything is so new and fresh
OMG you lucky b*stard lol! Other than the 4in screen, and 8gb storage which you've mentioned. Things I (we) need to know:
CPU, GPU (if possible), RAM, overall device dimensions, and last but not least, Battery size. Hope you get back to us soon, I really like this device, cus its probably the only one that might not have a Qualcomm/Adreno200 chip.
The battery is at 1500 mAH, but I have no way to check for CPU, GPU and RAM sadly. But it's really fast, even in this beta version of Windows Phone 7.
Dimensions:
Length: 122 mm (4.8 inches)
Width: 64 mm (2.52 inches)
Height: 11 mm (0.43 inches)
Thanks Erroneus.
Wow, battery and dimensions looks to be the same as the Galaxy S (tho about 1mm thicker). The 4in (super?) amoled screen and 1500mah battery has put this to the top of my wish list.
The LG phone supposedly has a speech-to-text feature. Would you know if this sammy device has that feature also?
Also does it have a front facing camera?
The screen is very good, it looks like super amoled, because the colors are very vibrant comparing to iPhone 4 and Desire.
It has voice to command features, like "open internet explorer", I don't see any "speech-to-text feature", but the software is still beta and without special customizations from Samsung.
There seems to be a front facing camera, I just can't find anywhere to enable it.
