Does anyone know how to watch YouTube videos in high quality by default? This is the youtube app... now you have to start a video then go to settings and choose high quality. Cheers.

I think by default, the quality of the video depends on the speed of your connection. When using cellular network, it always starts in normal quality. When I'm on my home WiFi, it starts in high quality.
click menu then 'more' and you should see the option you are looking for when playing the video.

Thats exactly the issue... Always when I open the youtube video I need to go to settings to to set it up as high quality. I would like it to open automatically in high quality.
I didn't try this.
But seeing as I am having the same issue on my captivate I am looking for solutions.

Hello, You need to press menu then settings from the youtube app home screen (as soons as the app loads) Don't do any searches or owt like that! Then the option you should tick is at the top where its says "general settings" "High quality video" "always default to high quality video"

Hi. I am experiencing some weird album video issues.
Here's the deal: When I start a video it starts the sound first then the video. The longer the duration of the file the longer I have to wait for the video to the point where a 54 minute video will turn off the screen before it comes on. This all happened after a hard reset. Previously it would just load the video and start showing it and playing the sound at the same time (same video files I am using now and it even happens with the sample video on the phone). I have tried all sorts of different settings with HD tweak and advanced config to see if I can get that performance back but no luck. Also I noticed that now the "loading" shot is still and I swear that before it was animated (the little "pie pieces" circling/cycling through brightness but maybe I am imagining that and getting it mixed up with the youtube player).
I would love to get it back to the old performance if anyone knows how as I had finally found the best video coding settings which allowed me to have 800x448 video without stutter and without blurriness of lower bitrates at higher res.
Don't know if it'd be a settings tweak, reg tweak, but whatever if anyone can help I'd be eternally grateful.
p.s. Did a search but got no related results, will continue to look for a while in case I missed something but don't think I did. Thanks again.
I've recently noticed that youtube videos only work for me when using 3G. Apparently stock youtube app uses normal quality on 3g and high quality videos on wifi by default. Unfortunately our devices can only play normal quality video, so is there any workaround to force normal quality video while using wifi?
I always place my S3 in my windshield dock. It lets my phone have clear video recording view of the road in front of me.
Am wondering if there are any apps that I can use which will record video and recycle the data storage. I mean, if I start recording and never stop it, it will eventually fill up my storage. So I'm looking for something that can be set to a maximum of say, 30 minutes and then start recording over the old footage.
I'd then use something like Tasker to set my phone to automatically start video recording every time I put my phone in the dock. So if I ever got into a car accident, my video recording can show authorities who was at fault.
Anything like that out there?
the technology you are referring to is a "blackbox" recorder. Simply go to the play store and search apps for "blackbox" which yields tons of apps that do what you are looking for.

Hey,
Just got this phone today and was playing with the setting. I saw there was a slowmo function on the video camera so i took a video with it. I went to play it back and it played regular speed. I checked a couple of places and it said to change the settings in the menu function when playing back. The only issue is that there is no menu function in video playback. Some other people have had this problem with no answer. I am running stock software on t-mobile. Any help would be appreciated.

Well not working for me. Recorded a video then played it back on the stock player. Regular motion and no option for anything else.
Make sure you're not accidentally playing it through Google's photos app. That was my problem. Clear your defaults in the app settings and then launch the video again. Make sure you choose the default video player.
That was it, thanks!!!
Every time I watch a video on YouTube the video plays in 144p quality. I have to manually select which quality I want which is usually 720p each time and for every video I watch. Auto does nothing but play in 144p. Mobile data or Wifi same thing.
This is a problem I'm just noticing. In the past it would always play in 720p if I selected that and that quality would stick. Maybe it's the YouTube app?
Anyone have any idea what's causing this and what I can do if anything? Thanks

Youtube selects the resolution based on connection speed.
I have 50+ dl speed on my WiFi. It still starts the video at 144p. If I select 1080p or 1440p quality the video plays just fine...No buffering or anything. The thing is I don't like having to select the quality for every video I watch cause sometimes I watch alot of different videos

My youtube app plays fine (720p), even on 3G. Strange. Uninstall and install it again.
