Any background recording apps? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I always place my S3 in my windshield dock. It lets my phone have clear video recording view of the road in front of me.
Am wondering if there are any apps that I can use which will record video and recycle the data storage. I mean, if I start recording and never stop it, it will eventually fill up my storage. So I'm looking for something that can be set to a maximum of say, 30 minutes and then start recording over the old footage.
I'd then use something like Tasker to set my phone to automatically start video recording every time I put my phone in the dock. So if I ever got into a car accident, my video recording can show authorities who was at fault.
Anything like that out there?

the technology you are referring to is a "blackbox" recorder. Simply go to the play store and search apps for "blackbox" which yields tons of apps that do what you are looking for.

Choppy video recording playback question.....MAYBE SOLVED for me

Apparently I get to research this fun issue now. Anyways is there any correlation between choppy video play back and recording in low light situations?
The vids I'm recoding right now are in semi low light but I can still see what I'm recording, but during play back the video seems to pause then continue. Sometimes its very bad sometimes its just every once in awhile.
I have adjusted recording resolution and encoding but there wasnt any change.
Any ideas?

Ok thought i d post back with some findings.
I'm using a pc to actualy watch these vids to better look for issues and isolate at what point the pauses and glitches are introduced. It seems that its having a hard time actually making the video. Not play back, because my pc plays back the crappy video just as crapy as my evo.
I got the video to stop freezing and pitching. I'm not sure what fixed it but I believe it was fixed by running a check risk on my SD card.
I noticed that everytime I connected my Evo to my pc via usb and used removable storage mode my windows 7 would ask if I wanted to scan and fix or not. I was telling it no, but after I did thus scan my videos want back to being pretty clear and not choppy.
Thought I'd share my findings.

Video recording while screen off possible?

Is it possible to have the defy recording videos while the screen is off? I would like to document longer hikes and such and the screen is the biggest energy-consumer while doing so.
There are apps which can turn the screen black but i havent found any which let you disable the screen completely.
Whats the matter? Can it be hacked ?
Also is itpossible to record the sound through a headset-microphone while recording videos?
I would prefer using a dedicated mic as wind-noise is pretty strong while riding a bike and i think a headset-mic could work way better.

Video capture and playback issue

For a few months now it has seemed that video is hit and miss when I use the camera on my phone. Some videos will be just fine and others will suddenly pause or skip and the video falls behind the audio quickly. This issue has been across multiple roms for me at this point. I had read somewhere about A2SD causing issues like this but am not sure if that could be it. The memory card I am using is the one that comes with this phone running a ext3 for the A2SD.
Are you talking about playing back videos or capturing them? If you are talking about playback, what details are the files? What codec, resolution, bitrate?
Always better to run most audio/vid apps, of any kind, from internal memory and not sd, otherwise it is like trying to run internet on dialup speeds nowadays Compression is nice but something has to give...

Video captured from the camera on the phone. While taking the video everything seems just fine. And sometimes a 1 minute I take everything will be fine, other times just 30 seconds and the audio is way behind. The playback is always the same result if it be from the computer or the phone, so I assuming the issue must take place when recording.

I don't know of any way to change how A2SD handles this, from reading it doesn't seem most A2SD user's get hit with this issue.
My issue turned out to be having the swap not set to 0

Audio Playback Variable Speed app

Hello,
There's one function on Android crucial to me that I have yet to find a perfect solution for, and that's variable speed audio playback. I'm a big audio podcast fan (using the excellent Pocket Casts app), and to get through hours upon hours of podcasts I like to play them back at a faster speed than normal. 2x speed, for example, sounds absolutely fine (not quite Alvin-and-the-Chipmunks fast) and as you would surmise cuts the normal podcast play time in half.
Pocket Casts uses an external app called Presto Sound Library to accomplish variable speed functionality, but this app appears to have been abandoned. The user forum, for example, hasn't been posted to since August, and the developer hasn't got back to my emails. Basically, the problem is that if you get a phone call when listening to something in Pocket Casts/Presto, upon completion of the call Pocket Casts force closes (although sometimes the audio just keeps on going uncontrollable). I've figured out via a helpful Play Store comment that force-closing Presto saves you from having to reboot, but needless to say this bug is extremely annoying. Problem started in Ice Cream Sandwich as I recall having it also on my CM9 Galaxy S II.
Anyone else out there have an alternative app for variable playback that works better on Jellybean? Cheers

I'm having the same problem!!
Have you found a better alternative? I especially have the problem when listening to my bluetooth headphones, lots of times the podcast just keeps playing uncontrollably. I've started rejecting calls just to quit the podcast, and then call people back, which is terrible! The whole program is quite glitchy and seems to freeze at the end of every podcast--for me at least.
I love the program interface, etc. I just wish it worked better.
I haven't been able to find anything else really. What was the tip about force quitting presto? It doesn't show up in my task manager, am I missing something?
Thanks!
I use Dice Player https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inisoft.mediaplayer.a to play lectures at increased playback speed. Works great for that purpose. I dont think it has a podcast downloader ability though, but if you have the files on your phone, this app works great for variable playback

speakers popping with speech in video?

Anyone had an issue where the speakers have some popping, for me specifically when I'm watching videos that predominantly have just spoken dialogue. One example being the world of Warcraft Q n A from today on twitch. Another a video my company put out telling the company about upcoming events.
Speakers are 100% fine though with music and other videos and YouTube stuff though.
It also seems like this happens in mainly videos playing in chrome through the site instead of the app.
i have same issue on some vids and apps.... when this happens reduce your volume and popping will stop
Sometimes it's the source material/bitrate causing this.
The way it was recorded does not mesh with what's being used to play it back.
Find a high quality MP3 of voice and see if you're still popping.

And even the amount of gain that the sound files are encoded with.
Gain, I think that's actually what I was trying to think of as the primary suspect.
