Every time I watch a video on YouTube the video plays in 144p quality. I have to manually select which quality I want which is usually 720p each time and for every video I watch. Auto does nothing but play in 144p. Mobile data or Wifi same thing.
This is a problem I'm just noticing. In the past it would always play in 720p if I selected that and that quality would stick. Maybe it's the YouTube app?
Anyone have any idea what's causing this and what I can do if anything? Thanks

Youtube selects the resolution based on connection speed.
I have 50+ dl speed on my WiFi. It still starts the video at 144p. If I select 1080p or 1440p quality the video plays just fine...No buffering or anything. The thing is I don't like having to select the quality for every video I watch cause sometimes I watch alot of different videos

My youtube app plays fine (720p), even on 3G. Strange. Uninstall and install it again.

I've recently noticed that youtube videos only work for me when using 3G. Apparently stock youtube app uses normal quality on 3g and high quality videos on wifi by default. Unfortunately our devices can only play normal quality video, so is there any workaround to force normal quality video while using wifi?
OK so here is my question...
Youtube app on my phone, plays video fine, perfect quality and no stutter..
Wifi tether to my laptop.. Open www.youtube.com same video and I have to wait like 5 minutes for the same 2 or 3 minute video to load..
I am sure it takes a little more bandwidth because I am sure there are some things not loading on the phone youtube app..
But that being said, it shouldn't be all that much of a difference.. Right?
Is there anyway to make it better?
The video you view on your phone is compressed to save mobile bandwidth. When you view the video on your computer, you are viewing a higher quality video.
Every time I try to play video that was recorded using the Nexus 7, it either plays sideways or upside down in mxplayer. Regular videos or movies that are transferred over play fine. Its only the videos that are recorded using any camera/video app or even the default camera app as well.
I have tried confirmed the screen rotation is on auto rotation and even checked all the options numerous times to see if something was conflicting. Did a default reset of the app settings. Even reinstalled it completely, but issue still remains.
Again, what I am doing is trying to play videos that are recorded by the device from the default gallery app. Playing the videos using the video players work fine, its mxplayer that is giving me issues.
Any suggestions?

What app are you using to record? [Edit: now I see. Have you tried something else?] There might be something saved about orientation. Have you tried copying the videos to a PC to see how they play there?

I experience the same thing. Videos are jerky, and after a while the video pauses and the sound continues to play. This is a problem that many users are complaining about on google play store. Don't blame your device, it is just the youtube player acting up. Hopefully they will fix it soon.
Youtube doesnt work at all on cm, so I just use Viral Pro (Youtube Player) instead. It takes a bit getting used to, but it is the better app IMO.
