I am having problems setting up exchange activesync on my phone.
I get to "Finish Setup" and it gives me the error "Failed to create the account. Please try later"
The settings that i am using is
Server address: m.google.com
Domain: google
Is there something that i am doing wrong?
I thought you leave the domain blank andjust out your email address with the @gmail.com bit for the username

When my m2000 syncronizes with my pc it pops up with an exchange server password which i don't know, can anyone help me on how to stop it from popping up? :?
If it is asking you for an exchange server password, you must be tring to sync with a server. If you car not syncing with a server simply de-select this option in activesync.
If you are syncing with a server, your password will most likly be your network password, that you use to log on to computers, or retrive email.
you need to ensure your settings are correct. check with your system admin that your password is corect, and try typing in the domain name without the .com or what ever your company uses. also check the save password box.
without going in to to much detail, your user name can have several diffrent formats. ususal something like this DOMAIN\username or [email protected]. depending on the format you use for the username you may or may not need to make sure that the domain name box has the .com
I'll try that thanks
i getting an error message all of sudden
The following errors occurred while sending and receiving messages:
The message(s) cannot be sent. Be certain that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct and then try again.
Any ideas why i'm getting this??
i believe its on googles side. they just rolled out a new version of gmail and ive even had some issues with webmail as well as my phone not being able to connect
its been a couple of days, will this issue be fixed or will i have to use something else..
no idea..i dont work for google.
Works fine for me now (GMail).
Is your gmail set up to check via IMAP or POP3? Mine's set for IMAP and I haven't had any trouble sending or receiving gmail since I set it up. I ask coz it might be a problem with Google's POP servers.
I am running IMAP on Gmail and appear to have no issues.
im running IMAP
and still having the issues.
anyone want to help me with, some settings so i know that they're correct

Make sure that you have both "Outgoing server requires authent.." and "use the same name and password for sending..." checked.
I would assume username and password are correct? That you have the "save password" checked?
Can you receive just fine? Just not send correctly, right?
doesn't the username have to be something like " recent: [email protected]" or is that for pop3 only?
yea, i can receive correctly just not send
all my settings are correct
should i just delete and redo?
Gmail, non responsive
I had trouble getting Gmail to work too...
Did the renaming work-around, settings all looked good, but it ended up working for me by:
switch to "Work" instead of "The Internet"
in the "Advanced Server Settings"
on the "Outgoing (SMTP) mail server:" page

Was this required to get it to work with GPRS/EDGE? I think mine only works with Wifi, so I'm thinking this may be my issue.

Try these settings they worked on mine
incoming:
Protocol - pop
put email address in and user name put email address in again
put in password
pop server - pop3.live.com
security type - SSL port 995
outgoing:
tick log in required
put email address in as username
put in password
smtp server - smtp.live.com
security type - TLS
server port - 587
Hey presto!!
I set my hotmail up the day I got my desire and it works perfectly. Shouldn't need to put any extra settings, just add email account and password which is recognised automatically. Just had to add one tick box to have items deleted from server now working fine.

On my hero I can go into settings and in the 'send & receive' settings I can change the download options and select how many days it should download. (you can select by number of days or by number e-mails, quite nice actually )

ad i love this forum ... the help is great
Yeah, this forum is great!
You can change the interval at the settings as well.
Btw, something else you can try is to let Gmail download the hotmail e-mails. But you cannot set the interval unfortunately. (You can set this up on your computer by going into the gmail settings, Accounts and Import settings, and then click on the 'import mail and contacts'. And then you have to finish a few steps to set it up.)
Too bad it's not instant like gmail though.
I now forward my main e-mail account to my gmail. This way I don't need the interval pop3 checking and I get my e-mail directly via the gmail push. Great stuff!
Unfortunately this is not possible with hotmail, you can only forward to other hotmail/live adresses. Unless you use the paid version of hotmail, then it's possible I believe (not sure).
But! For everything else it's great!
Create a folder/label, setup a filter and everything is nicely categorized as well
The gmail app is a bit more basic however.. different from the htc e-mail application for sure. Oh, and the standard gmail icon doesn't show the number of unread e-mails, so for that you need to get a widget called 'Gmail Unread Count'.
So i've just picked up the desire, have setup hotmail but it's only pop, is there no imap support? I don't fancy having to manually mark something as read each time...
Can the Gmail app be use as a widget?
I can't set up htc mail widget, what I'm doing wrong?

Hello everybody how are you all?
Firstly I'd like to apologize because it looks like a very simple problem. But, I've googled a bit and couldn't seem to get any closer to the solution.
I want to use the email app on my Nexus 7 to access my university email. This email accounts are provided by Microsoft.
After I enter my account name, on the second screen, it asks me about Account Type. POP3, IMAP or Exchange.
I tried
with POP3 > enter password > Incoming server settings(used defaults) > When trying to sign in "Couldn't finish : Couldn't open connection to server."
with IMAP, it ask for "sign in with password" or "sign in with google". In both cases, I get the error "Couldn't finish : Couldn't open connection to server"
with Exchange and I get the same error. But in this case the email client ask for a "client certificate", I haven't selected anything for that option.
What are the options(POP3, IMAP, Exchange) and how to setup this email client for my university account?
Thank you,
I had to contact my university to get server link, security type and port number for IMAP and SMTP information.
