The past 2 days i have woke up to find my phone has turned itself off in the night despite being fully charged. Also today on a few occasions my phone has switched itself off and keeps randomly freezing. It is a Tmobile handet from the initial release on the 26th march. has anyone else had any of these problems?
Maybe get it replaced ...
Try uninstalling any apps to see if it related to a app you've added. My T-Mobile desire (arrived on 26th as well) has been terrific.
mine had been terrific until the past couple of days. I removed the most recently added apps earlier and am waiting to see if this has sorted the problem.

I just got a replacement phone today from t-mobile. my phone was from the original batch received on the saturday 27th. the first few days no problem wotso eva (not including the pink tint on gmail app, htc website etc.. I wasnt bother about that) then the phone reset itself off, thought it was weird but didn't take any notice of it, till it happen another 2 more times. than when I make a call the screen would turn off for standby mode, once I press the red call button, this was annoying because i wanted to use the keypad. it took me a few press on the screen or pressing the power button a few times to turn the screen back on. maybe this was software problem but I decided to get a replacement as Im still in the 7 days cooling period. take advantage of their 7days as once u pass it and your problem still occur they will have to fix it rather than swapping u for a new one. btw if you received your phone on the 27th march, today is the last day of the 7days cooling period.
this is how t-mobile 7days cooling period work. I wrote this in another forum b4.
just a useful info, just rang t-mobile regarding on their warrenty, and was inform of their 7days cooling period:
if you experience any fault, problem or don't like the phone you can get a straight replacement or exchange.
these 7 days period start from the next day when you received your phone and are working days! and does not includes weekend or public holidays
e.g, received phone on saturday 27tth march, 7days period start on tuesday as they would count monday (working day) as you received it, since we have good fri and bank holiday monday those days are not included. therefore 7 days period end at the END of business day on thursday 8th april.

Dunno what happened, had it for a day and used after initial 14 hour charge then plugged it in when it got to 1% charge.
Hasn't worked since, will not turn on under charge. It is dead.
Can't even get the IMEI number or serial number to see if it's a known issue among us.....
On the btm of the box is 17th Nov so I guess this is inital stock.
It's being replaced next week.
Dave
Sorry to hear that. Always hearing all sorts of things when it comes to early adopters of any new handset device. I'm sure it's just something fault with the unit you got.
Hope you get your replacement soon!
It will be another week as I work away from home
Ah well, lets see what the next one is like!
Hey guys!
On the 1st of August last year I bought an LG G4. I was really excited until I found out it's a faulty one. I sent it for repairs, but they said it was fine. Sent it for repairs immediately after that and they suddenly "found and fixed" something faulty. The problem with the phone is that it heats a lot - I've seen it hit 90 degrees Celsius on the CPU which makes it burn my hand. Now it's been the 7th time sent for repairs and it's the third time they don't fix anything on the phone, and the second time they state the phone is working fine. Now - the phone can't last more than 1,5-2 hours of SOT without any apps installed after a fresh format and has a standby time of around 4-6 hours with just the mobile data turned on, without any apps. Should I root it and put CM or some other ROM on it, or should I sue the company? I've asked for a replacement or a refund, but it got refused.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. The only reason I haven't rooted it yet is because of the issues so I don't have any warranty issues when I send it for "repairs".
Here we go again...
Another LG phone having boot loops...
Bought from Best Buy on April 5TH with no protection...
May 6 phone started its random turn off....Have to do a battery pull and rest it for 10 minutes to get it to start up again..
After a min or two , it powers off again..
Yes, I was able to do soft and hard re-sets to no avail...
Just filed a repair request with LG...
Grrrrrrr
Mike
I had the same issue with Sprint LG G5. I bought it in April 13 the from Best Buy. It started to reboot 3 times at first and got real hot before it started rebooting. I took it to Sprint repair center where they suggested to do a factory reset. I told them I can do that. But before I was able to do a factory reset, it finally died. Sprint didn't want to replace the phone since I didn't have insurance. I might have to send it to LG for warranty repair which will take 9 business days. Do not buy the LG G5..
About a week and a half after I got my G5 it overheated really badly and turned itself off and wouldn't restart after attempting to reboot several times. I disconnected it from the power source let it cool off then plugged it in using the OEM power wart that came with the phone. That worked and the phone restarted. A week later the same happened. The phone overheated and attempted to restart several times and this time it seemed hotter than the first time. It turned itself off eventually and I was unable to turn it back on again. Less than three weeks into ownership and the phone was completely unresponsive and dead. I took it into the sprint dealership and they initially refused to replace the phone despite the fact it was under a month before this problem surfaced. They wanted to take the dead phone and have a new one shipped out to me. I told them that was unacceptable and they came up with the compromise that if I signed up for protection now they would backdate it and give me a new replacement phone. I took the deal with the full intention of canceling the protection plan within a month or two after I'm sure this new phone isn't going to be an issue. The new phone has been pretty solid for me so far. It gets warmer than I like but that may just be a product of hypersensitivity to heat after the first phone. That was the first time with any phone that I've ever had where a phone catastrophically failed on me like that. Sprint's response at the their shop was completely unacceptable given the time frame since purchase. I like the phone but I'm not liking how ownership of it is starting out. This was about two weeks ago now and I'm still gunshy with this phone afraid this new one is going to crash on me as well. I do not like that feeling. Thank God I have a backup phone just in case.
Goes to show phones these days are not built the same. I've had the g5 since day 1, not any of the problems I've read I've had since owning the phone. I got mine from a Sprint store also. Only issue I have is the slight lag I have when connecting to anything internet related. I believe that to be something kernel related.
sent from my g5

You may want to try enabling Use legacy DHCP client in developer options. Worked pretty well for me.

It is a known issue they'll rma it for this reason. On a side note I had that issue for about 12-24 hours and went away on it's own, no restart or factory reset was required for me. Really wish I knew what or why the cause but maybe it will go away, like mine did. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks I hope so too. Really liking the phone but for this money...
agreed I almost gave up, my first 2 were too blue and the 3rd fine except started that flash, but ultimately went away. Loving this phone!

Mine just started this week flashing. Running 8.1 since last week. Does your new replacement suffer from the same issue as well?
Thanks

Mine started today but it has been getting better as the day goes on. I'm curious if its an issue with charging. Prior to a few days ago I had been only using the chargers with that I've received specifically for the phone, but this week--since I'm traveling for the holidays--I've only been using my pixelbook charger, so maybe something isn't properly shielded and the flash is caused by a built up charge? Reason I think that is that it has been less and less noticeable as the day goes on..

My flashing went away the next day. I did do a factory reset just because I only had it a few days and no issues since. Although Google RMA’d my phone I sent the replacement back without accepting shipment as mine has been running like a champ since.

Got my replacement a week ago, 0 flashes so far (finger crossed). I tend now to think it's a hardware issue. Also blue tint is slightly better on new device...
I just got my Pixel 2 XL delivered to me yesterday. Set it all up, didn't get the flashing screen issue at first but now it's doing it. Tried to chat with Pixel support from my phone, they don't have a resolution for it yet.... Hopefully it's a software issue?
Mine started doing this about 3-4 days ago. I noticed that it starts to do it when night mode is on. If I go the RMA route, this will be my 3rd replacement and tbh I'm not looking forward to doing this.
Mine did it once with always on display on, I don't usually use that so I turned it off and it hasn't happened since.
I just received a replacement device yesterday due to a faulty speaker. No issues with the last device, but this device is now exhibiting the screen flash when locking.

Exact thing with me. I received a brand new device that I got because my previous one had a bad speaker (speaker phone distorted sound). This new one has the screen flashing problem. My original did not. Poor QC ... especially for $850.
Mine has been doing it for a couple of days, and it kept getting worse. On chat with Google Support now. Sounds like it's going to be RMA'd.
Hey guys, I've had a strange problem with my 5X recently.
Put simply I took it outside my pocket 2 days ago just to discover that it was dead, like completely dead, no boot, no fastboot menu, no recovery mode, no flashing led, nothing! There was some juice in it, it wasn't hot so no apparent reasons to be unresponsive. I've already had the bootloop issue few months ago and had the motherboard replaced under warranty, but that time at least some weak signals like boot attempts or flashing led were present. Btw, it was running stock 8.1 and the motherboard is 7 months old by now.
24 hrs later, surprise, the led started flashing again indicating no battery, so I plugged the cable and... miracle... back on as before. Completely functional as nothing had happened, just one day of vacation basically. I've been using it for the last 24 hrs and it's still working ok.
Now I've to take a decision, so I'd like to hear from you if you've had a similar experience. My 2 yrs warranty expired 2 days ago, on the same day I've had the issue. I made it just in time to reserve the LG customer service, but being during the weekend I couldn't send the phone to anybody. By that time the phone has resurrected, so...
Should I still send it to customer service? Is there any chance they can replace the motherboard that might be starting to become defective (again)? Or is it more likely that it will be delivered to some laboratory on the other side of the world just to find out that as of now it works regularly and it will be sent back to me unchanged? It will be my last chance to take advantage of the warranty, I wouldn't like to have it dead for real in the next days with no warranty coverage.
Btw, died on friday night, resurrected on sunday morning... I'll call it the Nexus Jesus from now on ahah!
you should send it to lg before that happen again like it did with mine before it break complicity and mine was only 1 year old my bad the phone is not available in my country so i had to trow it it was my second time it break it boot but no recovery just fastboot 2 in 6 time so you better take it

I had the same symptoms.
At next day the phone died again. Desperately put again the modified kernel but i dont had success. I tried many procedures that i found in this forum but still not work the phone. I can say that the strange is the green screen with the legend "unknown reset" (atteched)
Same, also--but eventually, it just stayed dead. The LG warranty (at least for US) is 30 months from original date of purchase. They pay shipping both ways, but I had to request shipping label on the first repair as it was not emailed to me. Just got mine back after 2nd mb replacement. Hopefully, all will stay working for a least another year.
had the same problem, open it, put out the board, 200°C for 15min, wait till it is cold, put back in. worked for me.
