Was that a new connection or upgrade?
upgrade mate
Drat. I cancelled my contract a month ago and went on to PAYG while I waited for the Desire to come out. Reckon it's still worth a call?

you would need to get a new contract but if you wanna stay with them then give them a call and say you want desire so what offers will they give you if you choose to go back to them for a contract.

"became available"
Are you sure that means they're in stock, or have they just started taking orders?
I would be gutted if they do have them in stock and I've pre-ordered with buymobilephones.
About f**king time!
I would never have known that it was available if it weren't for this site (so thanks go to IPAddis for posting this thread). I have just ordered mine as an upgrade to my existing contract. No charge for the handset.
My new shiny thing gets delivered tomorrow!
Happy happy joy joy!

In stock. Apparently instruction came from above at midday today that they were allowed to sell them. They mentioned the usual guff about Orange having to test the phones so I suspect they've had the stock for a few days. Quite why they couldn't have told people this or at least advertised the handset in the "Coming Soon" section of their website as they promised is a mystery.
Hey ho.
Ian A.
Interesting.
I've contacted Buymobilephones and asked them when they'll have it- we shall see what they say.
I can't really be bothered cancelling and ordering direct from Orange.
I'm still hoping that if I get a later model, it'll be an updated handset without some of the bugs we've heard about.
Good luck with your handsets boys. It'll be interesting to see if you get a branded handset, official orange packaging etc. Keep us informed.

Anyone without a "business" got one? Anyone had any problems with not owning a business?
Many thanks,
Dave
I got one last week without a business, and they didn't seem bothered at all.
I got mine for £30+vat a month over 18 months and when I've just looked at the website it showed 3 months free. I rang up and complained that I wasn't offered this option, and he politely pointed out that it was for 24 month contracts only. Then he said if I wanted to change to it I could and he dropped the rental to £25 pm
So I have extended the contract AND saved money, are you listening Tmobile?
Thanks stunno, I think I'm going to upgrade... (it's been so long since I got my Kaiser, I've getting nervious )
@lloydsparkes, please don't thread hijack, I've deleted your posts, use one of the many T-Mob threads.
Dave
yeh i got mine from vodafone a week ago and im not a business owner...
they didnt seem too bothered about it either. Got a 25ppm contract for 24 months! figured the phone looks great and hopefully should work well (which it is for now) i didn't mind keeping it for 2 years!
Just a quick update - I was just in the Vodafone branch in Durham who told me that they had an email this morning telling them that the stores weren't going to stock it so it's online/telesales only.
double posting...sorry

And when you get it, as your first job can you find a way of getting rid of the branding, please?
I've signed up on Vodafone for £34 + VAT per month, 18 months, and get 900 mins + unlimited TXT + 500mb data.
What are you guy's getting for £25 per month? If I'm getting a raw deal I may ask them to change it for me, or I have until Monday to decide to send it back within the 'peace of mind' return period.
I'm getting 500 minutes, unlimited landline and internet (but the AUP will be 50MB) and 250 texts

Apparently you have 7 days 'make your mind up time' on the phone ( although I thought the Distance Selling Regs was 14 days, but could be wrong) so if you are within that you have a good bargaining position

Good News! I'm beginning to like Vodafone
Does anyone know if the Vodafone TP2's are SIM unlocked?
Dave
mines sim unlocked.. tried with a three sim and orange...both passed a call test
My one is unlocked too - was using it with T-mobile before my number was ported.
I'm also pleased with Vodafone so far, and there coverage seems better than T-mobile so far where I live in Aberdeen.
Guys any suggestions, the ones I have narrowed down are:
mobilephonesdirect, vodaphone (bus tariff) or mobiles.co.uk - all offer good mins, free handset, but i was looking for a cheaper tariff (i.e. £25 ish)
I got mine from mobilephonesdirect. I bought the PAY2GO version as it was cheaper than sim free. Then I haggle with my service provider and got a decent monthly rate so in the long run it works out cheaper.

Ive just got one from mobilephonesdirect... ordered yesterday at lunchtime.. arrived this morning @ 10am.. its at home waiting to be played with now!!
i did origionaly try Vodafone business contract, credit checked ok, but then final check failed - which ive jst found out was a glitch in the system! as that happened, i then went to mobilephonesdirect to get it!
howver - Vodafone business if it works is better - click via quidco and you can get £100 cash back! (feel free to share it for the tip!) - which is why im abit peeved now as if the vodafone one worked i'd be £100 CB better off..... i could sent it back and get the VF one.. but cant be botherd now... it needs to be played with! and would only resuly in more delay if i change now!
Thanks guys.
Did you fail the credit check as your not a business user or do they not check that

Credit check was OK - just got an email yesterday - the day i was expecting the phone to arrive.. saying they were unable to complete the order - had a call this morning from Vodafone asking if everything was OK with the new phone! - obviously they dont talk to each other! so was annoyed to here that actualy it was a system glitch and it should have gone through... they said i could cancel the order i have and do it with them.... but when they heard it was a vodafone contract anyway they werent so bothered about me canceling it and switching!
im also porting my number - so didnt want that to get lost in a system some where.
saying that - if you order in the next 50 mins from mobilephonesdirect you will have it to play with all long weekend!
i cant fault the service i recieved from them - it arrived this morning as promised!
I like the quidco and want to get a way from T Mobile.
Sorry does the quicdo only apply from vodaphone direct or can i do this from mobilephoendirect ?
direct as it has to track on their website.
Thanks just ordered the TP2 from Vodaphone with Quidco, so in theory i save £190 (£90 from Vodaphone and £100 from Quidco) nice, now just need to pursuade the Mrs to take on my TD2
£90 from Voda on the 3 monthsfree thing ? on a 24month ?
They are doing the first 3 month line rental from (so thats £90). i took out a 24mth contract (750mins, 250 text and 500MB data). Then hopefully the quidco on top of this (£100).
I set up a wiki with a HUGE list of vendors all over the place including most in the UK. Its got a price comparison list so you can see who's cheapest too. Hope it helps

Then you are being hopelessly unrealistic, I'm afraid.
Any SIM-only contract that includes "unlimited Internet" will cost you £20 a month right there. Vodafone give you the phone for free on a £30 a month, 24-month contract, which also included unlimited Interne. That means you are effectively only paying £10 a month for the phone, which means you get the phone for just £240, and that includes two years' interest-free credit thrown in for free. Compare that to the approximately £450 you'd be paying to buy the phone SIM-free. Or, for that matter, compare it to what you would pay if you got an iPhone 3GS on contract from O2. It's actually a very, very good deal. The only reason I didn't opt for that option myself is that Vodafone has an explicit 500MB a month data limit on their "unlimited" Internet deal (and even that isn't bad - Orange is also 500 MB a month, T-mobile is 1GB a month).
Bugger! Didn't know about the Quidco thing
Anyhoo, got mine on the Voda business 30 quid deal. I'm still pleased - unlimited landline is very important to me, and the 500mb data limit is fine for my needs. Plus the 3 month rebate meant I could end my contract with Orange early, without losing the money (still hadx three months to run).
Plus, I've got to say, Voda is a damn fine network. Three times this week I've been with friends on other networks who've lost signal, and Voda;s been rock steady.
The TouchFlo branding's ugly, but that's what XDA's for...

Hi, I ordered a HTC Desire earlier today on T-Mobile UK, through MPD. What is the order process.
Its currently sat on "Pending Stock", does this mean it passed the credit check, and everything is fine or not. I know it is "Pending Stock" as the phone isn't out yet, just want to know if i will actually get one or not. Thanks
It's not guaranteed as the credit check still needs to be completed. You should see a couple of quid come out and then go back in from the bank account you used sometime soon.
Are you sure as I have heard once it gets to the Pending stock page, it is has already passed everything. If it was in stock it would have said dispatched, not sure though.
I have ordered the same phone.
I have had £2 taken out from T-mobile and then put back in! However my phone and delivery cost was £9 and it looks like that has been put back in as well which is weird. But on my account it says pending stock!
Have I passed the credit check then?
- Not long to wait for the desire now! come on my son!!!
I cant check my bank till monday but if mine is at Pending Stock and so is yours i dont see why they wouldn't have taken money from my account. I will ring them on monday. If everything is fine I have managed to get a HTC Desire for £25 a month, for 18 months. Wow, actually cant wait. Was going to get a Nexus one, but I can run sense on this so, cant wait.

If you only ordered today then the credit check will not have been done. They probably won't take any money out until Monday. Since ordering on the 9th my account has always stated "Pending Stock". I presume should I have failed the credit check then I'd be informed. Ring them if you're unsure but I'd leave it until they've at least done the money transfer part of the check.

The delivery charge may have been taken by mistake, hence it going back in as I haven't had MPD charge me yet. Probably be charged closer to the delivery date.
They took the money out for delivery pretty much straight away. They took money out for the credit check the day after so yours should be done ( i think).
Same i got mine for £25 but for 24 months.
How many mins / texts / internet did you get??
I got the 300mins, 300 texts, unlimited internet for £25 over 18 months. Phone cost me £5.99. Not been charged for anything yet though.
I have ordered the same as you 18 month, 300 mins and 300 texts unlimited net. I range earlier today and asked them about the credit check, and they said if they had time to do it today they would, and then my order would be processed. It originally said "New (Contract)", and then changed this evening to "Pending Stock", so im not sure if they have conducted the check or not, but the order has progressed.
Will they be sent out on the 26th like T-Mobile.co.uk is doing?
Im not sure, it says on the website that is the W/C 5th April, hoping its the same for us though, we might get it the same time. I would rather pay these prices than have to go with T-Mobile directly, also our phones wont be branded, and will be unlocked, win win, in my eyes.
Our phones will be unlocked and unbranded? Great!
Just checked my order, which was placed yesterday and it says Pending Stock. Very excited!
I've ordered it to my home address, which I'm at between 27th March and 11th April.. so if it arrives after 11th I will be gutted!

I'm away at University at the moment so wouldn't trust to get it delivered here - Packages go missing ALL the time!
I only get two weeks off for Easter, but I have to spend those two weeks working on my dissertation rather than playing with my Desire!
I ordered mine on the 18th March and it says Pending stock so not sure either, had a look on my bank but can't see anything on there but i got a call from Barclay's fraud thing and it seems T-Mobile tried to take some out i guess the check they do but it was refused by the bank for some reason so need to look into that.
I can't see it being a problem as i currently have a T-Mobile contract so i imagine it should go through without issues, may call Mobilephone direct on Monday and see if all is ok.
Thanks, im going to ring them tomorrow as I need to know if its all gone through fine, Im not sure if money has come out as my online banking isn't working and cant get statement till monday, im hoping its all gone through fine.
Been on the phone to them and my checks all went through fine, from what she said if you Pending Stock you pretty much ok and they don't take payment out until the phones ready for dispatch. They expecting them in on 5th April and hope to get them out to customers within that week but remember its Easter Monday on the 5th so i doubt they will get any in then so looking Tuesday onwards.
Still call to others if you want to know if you passed the checks yourself i am only going on what i was told
Does unlimited internet actually mean unlimited internet?
Hi guys,
I've been stung on orange with their so called unlimited internet package. Got billed loads for going over 500 meg a month. OK I thought, I'll stay under 500 meg an month and then got stung on 150 meg a day cap (payed again)!!!
I am getting my HTC Desire with T-Mobile this time. So the basis of my question is simple; Does T-mobile actually give unlimted internet, uncapped data or do I still have to be careful?
Thanks.
Just like the title says, just had a look and some of the orange tariffs are pretty tempting, but im not sure if the handset would be locked or not?
Elaine
I've ordered my upgrade from buymobilephones yesterday. Switched from Racoon 30 to Racoon 25 and added 500mb of internet for £5. Phone cost me 69.99 which is a bit of a rip off now I think back but I suppose its not a huge deal.
Did say they had no idea when they'd actually have it in stock though. "Could be next week, could me in a months time"
haha, least they are honest!! the orange saver plans do look good, particularly the panther 35 for 30, 750mb data plan, 50 free photo messages, unlimited txts, 500mins and magic numbers too.
If mobiles.co.uk are shipping things it might be more worthwhile going with them i guess. Especially if the handsets are unlocked.
Just bumping this incase anybody else has ordered though Buymobilephones and has any info.
I can't be the only one surely?
The latest:
Hi,
Your HTC Desire has not yet come back in to stock.
We expect the phone to be with us soon, at which point we will progress your order.

Bump.
Am I really the only person here who's ordered from Buymobilephones.net?
T-mobile are so silly, I really don't want to be stuck with a 35 quid a month price plan after getting my phone unlocked and sticking my o2 sim in it, so asked if it's ok to downgrade whithin the first 7 days, but belive it or not you cannot downgrade on t-mobile untill your last month so for me that would have been 23 months.
I took out the £35 a month plan but shortly realised it's a bit of a con as the 10 quid a month plan comes with unlimited internet and 1 free booster and you just pay 164.00 for the handset then you can just upgrade as and when you want.
So I now have to return the handset and they send out a new one on the new contract as a brand new line. I was happy to keep the phone and just knock it down and pay the 164 but you can't do it.... oh well
Obviously I had 7 days cooling off period anyway, so they are not charging me for returning the handset and are sending the packaging to post it through the post.
that is ridiculous! At least you'll get what you want. I got the £15 deal and have the unlimited free landline booster

Yup i am quite happy to keep my phone and downgrade, am I being unreasonable not wanting to get lumbered with a 35 quid a month contract that cannot be downgraded for 23 months?
I was under the impression I could downgrade if i never used my mins anyway, like on o2

Hang on, you signed up to an expensive contract so you could get an expensive hanset for free.
Then you're surprised to learn they just wont drastically reduce the price? I need whatever you've been smoking!
You entered into a fixed term contract, they're under no obligation to let you downgrade AT ALL. That they will let you in the last month of your deal is nothing more than goodwill.

I have consumer rights and I only found out I could not downgrade today, I don't want to be locked into a 23 month contract with no downgrade rights or were you well aware of this new policy abiet a year old that T mobile have started doing.
And while your on your high horse, they are quite happy for me to UPGRADE and take my money when times are good, but unable to downgrade when times are bad, does this seem fair to you?
O2 used to allow you to get a high cost contract and then downgrade straight to a lower tariff, however I think they stopped you doing this about 2 years ago as everyone was doing this and they eventually caught on!
I think you can downgrade your tariff on O2 after 6 months. Not 100% sure though.
Will T-Mobile check the Sim-Lock on your phone when it is returned to them?
Perfectly. Again, fixed term contract. If you didn't read all the small print, you can only really blame yourself.

The only people to blame here are T-Mobile, I am quite happy to keep the phone and change to another tariff that T mobile offer new customers, it's no different to buying a TV and then seeing it cheaper somewhere else after you have bought it and asking for a refund, or do you want to live in a country that does not offer buyers this protection?
There contracts state you have 7 days to inform us if you are not happy with the phone or contract, I have informed them that i am not happy so have to return the phone and take out "another" contract.

I would have thought they would have allowed you to downgrade to the lower tariff if you were willing to part with the £169 that it will cost you? But thats up to them I am afraid.

That's the silly part.
Ok my order has been accepted I didn't bother haggling with price just went for the £10.00 a month deal £164 up front, for the sake of a manager to just drop the price plan all this could have been avoided, and yes i know i should have ordered the correct deal in the first place, but if we all had hindsight then there would be no need for the 7 day cooling of period.

Sorry but your assumptions are incorrect not all Networks operate the same way at all for instance i got my TG01 for free on a 18month £35pm contract which included free Internet and Unlimited landline calls. After 6 months Orange Best Plan option kicks in so i down graded to a £20pm plan with £5 for the Internet pack and still have the Unlimited Landline calls for free. Which saves me £120 over the last year of the contract so it has reduced the overall cost of ownership and running my TG01. It's one of the things that makes Orange a better choice for me as i hate paying for my phones especially on a 18 month contract and the ability to down grade my plan after 6 months saves me money i have more incoming calls then out going and never use all my minutes.
VodaFone on the other hand only let you downgrade your plan after 12 months and it appears T-Mobile in the last month only so as long as you know this you can make the right cost choice for your needs. As always there are so many variables as to what makes the best deal and as individuals what suits some of us won't all but choice is good for the consumer.

I was informed by T-Mobile that their policy states that after half of the full contract term has passed, I'm allowed to downgrade my contract.. But when you downgrade, you're only allowed to go one price plan down. So from £35 to £30, etc.

Ronny...you had me worried for a minute. I thought that something was wrong with the phone
Sounds like a bit of a whinge to me......It's a contract, that is up to your to read all the fine print. Assumptions from other carriers is just stupid. Neway you should be happy they are at least changing it for you.
Close thread lol
