Really??? Are you sure? It's not a joke or a fake? Soooo
The Diamond has a fast CPU: the Qualcomm MSM7201A running at 528MHz
Minimum hardware requirements for Windows Phone 7 :
The minimum requirements for the CPU are 1GHz ... AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!
Is Windows Phone 7 really for phones ?
Even if a port will be made for our Diamond, it will be very slow.

I am not sure about that.
They're saying that it works faster than 6.5
Also, Microsoft requires that 1 Ghz processor so they're sure that there won't be people saying: 'it's laggy'.
Also, in that way they're sure that their software is only running on hardware that's more than enough so they won't be blamed for a laggy OS.
any idea when it would be out in the market?
and that processor requirement is a real setback for me
First phones are planned for October so dont expect it any time soon.

Did anybody think about that WP7 phones may be on x86 processors? (atom, etc)
if my phone supported x86 i would definately not install wp7 in my phone.

Unlikely, maybe on a netbook or tablet, but not on a smartphone. ARM cores are leaps and bounds ahead in terms of bang for your watt.
Most likely Microsoft released the WP7 emulator on x86 because it runs faster ;P
Most likely not.
They probably released it this way to limit the possible use of the ROM.

Because it's hardware accelerated to give you the speed you would have on a real phone.

Considering that the minimum requirements for a WP7S phone say that a device must have an ARM Cortex A8 processor, a Scorpion CPU, or better (http://www.techautos.com/2010/03/17/windows-phone-7-series-hardware-requirements/), we're pretty sure WP7S isn't for x86.
It's based on CE 6R3 so in theory yes, but you will have to port the drivers and other system files that are cortex specific.
I heard intel is making x86 mobile processors. Maybe there will be version for those.

You can order already a phone with windows xp and the Intel x86-Moorestown Prozessor will be used by LG this Year for its phone so maybe for the advanced User Windows 7 with all its Software will be avaiable soon on the Phone .
Running windows 7 phone OS on a atom based tablet ( viliv etc) would be great. I think full windows 7 is not very user friendly because of the tiny menus etc.

Will there ever be a Lite Windows Phone 7 ROM for phones that are lesser than 1GB processor.
If so, what are some of the things we might have to sacrifice??
Just a question and a no offence to any1...
Thanx...healthy arguments are welcome...
Your beloved X1 or any other non-snapdragon phone doesn't meet requirements, the processor simply isn't capable of running it on instruction level, it requires ARMv7 processor, while all other <Snapdragon are ARMv6 only capable (WM requires ARMv4i).

BUt how about a Lite ROM???
Minus a few things mayb....its the famous game of 'wait and watch'
WP7 IS Lite, the only thing you could remove is all 3D animations and such, which probably would require deep changes in the core which also probably would break compatibility with all WP7 Apps. You would also need to recompile the OS for versions lower than ARMv7, which would require the source code, which only Microsoft have. Microsoft know exactly what they are doing so they wont open support for old crap devices. There is a reason that they broke backwards capability.
TL;DR: Get a new phone instead, there will never be a "lite" ROM of this.

Sigh...
Sad but true. Thanx anyways...its a lil bit like IE9 not being compatible with XP....
Such a ROM would be instantly banned from XBox Live, etc. when you try to connect. Microsoft already has the infrastructure in place to do it. I would be a dumb phone with a cute UI, basically.
Same goes for WP7 ROMs ported to other devices.

ha ha ha ha no never ever ever !!!!! Supporting devices slower than 1ghz was why windows mobile was introuble in the first place they allowed their os on crappy devices!!!!! Now windows phone 7 will never be on crap phones with these new restrictions and i agree with the minimum requirements 100% go microsoft for killing low-end crap windows mobile crashboxes
Also there is no need for Microsoft to develop a Windows Phone 7 Lite for new entry-level handsets. At the moment Windows Phone 7 is used only in high-end handsets, because of the strict hardware-requirements. But with time, this hardware will become cheaper and therefore Windows Phone 7 will be available in entry-level handsets. I guess you can get a WP7 device for 200€ instead of the current 500€ in two year.
What does 'entry level handset' mean?

Hi guys.
Do you know samsung galaxy 551? It looks like wave 533 (size, screen resolution), but it has android instead of bada.
Would it be possible to flash 551's FW into wave 533/525/723?
Thanks.
hey man dont just dream in the sky..
comebach to the earth and deal with reality.
agreed that it can be possible but its not so easy as you think it to be.
oleg_k and other devs are engaged in android port for senior wave since long time but still there is no way out there for a functional port.

So, don't forget that LG released Froyo for KH5200 and actually is used also for GW620 (officialy unsupported). I transformed my wife's GW620 in froyo 3 days ago with LG official release for KH5200, everything is ok and more fest than GW620's Cupcake. Never say never, she (sirlene) said that because she hopes that can help port devs to see this and test it if is possible.
Plese put here a discussion were anyone was tested a 551 fw in 533 or 525/ or 23 and finally you will be right.
I'm not fighting, this is just an earful.
there is a big difference between using a different Android platform on a device that ALREADY uses android, and putting android on a device that uses a COMPLETELY different OS core (bada with Nucleus kernel).
Maybe. but gislene said that because she believes 533 maybe is same or compatible hardware from 551. that's the point.
Is like compare a PC with linux or windows. and I can't use my OSes from my Phenom II X4 in my Atom 330 PC, but I can use Linux or Windows instead.
And finally, if I change my Atom 330 PC HDD to my Atom 230 PC the system works fine, not the same hardware but is same chipsets and compatilble processor
Think this =]

The hope was that devices have very similar engineering. I know the processors are quite different, the huge Cortex 1GHz architecture is not like a simple ARM 650MHz, but I really can't say if the simple ARM system will not work in Cortex processor. And maybe the system inside have I/O compatibility with some Samsung models, to simplify the production. Korean mobile brands always make this (Ezio, LG and Samsung), using the same Qualcomm or MediaTek like chipsets for all line production with same RTOS layer.
I exemplified with PC to explain what she said. And I know the protection layer of Bada devices is so hard to be unbreaked, not so simple like install a new OS in PC or change HDDs.
And really who try that is because have enough knowledge in how to unbrick and recover the device if the other fw don't work, is not a "dream in the sky".
PS: If I reprogram my PC BIOS with other MoBo BIOS possibly will brick it and maybe burn it! thats obvious!
i am looking at buying this phone and from what ive read it comes with windows 6.1 and you can upgrade it to 6.5, i wanted to know can it be ungraded to windows 7.
thank you
sut.
WinMo 6.5 is as far as it officially goes.
I SERIOUSLY doubt it'll ever get WP7, even unofficially. The HD2 is the only device to ever unofficially get WP7 (AFAIK), but that device has much better specs.
I have a rhodium bought it and when he came to win but the htc 6.1 released 6.5 to win it. I think it's the ideal but the win7 was looking to try because I have an android and would like to compare. I have not found any version of win7

You won't, for the TP2. Again, the HD2 is the ONLY WinMo device that'll run WP7. I seriously doubt any other device will get there - although there's a few other WinMo devices that might have the grunt to run it, the TP2 is not one of them. Look elsewhere.
Yes I know that HD is only left with 7 but I have a htc p4330 6.5 and got a win when the officer was only up to win5
Between win7mobile and win6.5 much more difference than win5 and 6.5. First of all in hardware specifications for win7 need multitouch screen.
Does WP7 actually need a multi-touch screen to even boot? How would it even know?
I guess the CPU architecture is more problematic then the touch screen.
Why would you like to run WP7 anyway? Even if we could somehow emulate the CPU - the system would be 10x slower then XdAndroid making the phone unusable.

As of right now not possible, but never say never!
No. Microsoft has ceased all development on the ARM version of windows, aka Windows RT. The new Windows 10 will only run on x86 hardware, which means you will need an android tablet with a Intel processor to install Windows 10. The Galaxy Tab S uses an ARM processor, hence it is not compatible.

According to PC msg we are both retards.
http://asia.pcmag.com/microsoft-sur...indows-rt-is-dead-but-microsoft-hasnt-learned
According to the article there are two versions of Windows 10. The first one is the normal desktop Windows, which is direct successor of the (/sarcasm) beloved Windows 8 (/endsarcasm). The second version is a mobile version that runs on both x86 and ARM, but presumably has a smaller footprint and optimised for touch screen control. In order words, it is Windows Phone in all but name.
Running x86 software on ARM isn't impossible, but incredible costly. The ARM processor would have to emulate the x86 hardware, and all hardware emulations are expensive (in terms of processing power and not money). Anyone who had ever used the android emulator that comes with the android development kit knows how painfully slow it is even on a i7 CPU. Trying to run a legacy Windows x86 software on a weaker ARM processor would be insane.

Guess you didn't read the entire thread...YOU CAN NOT INSTALL WIN 10 ON YOUR 10.5 Tab S
2 Biggest reasons why not:
You don't have the proper processor in the 10.5
You'll most likely never get any drivers for the hardware in it
