How do you get the most out of your TP2? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I have had my TP2 now for about 4 months and have managed to make this device a part of every hour of every day. I thought about it for a while and I personally think its pretty neat how unobtrusive most of the functionality I use is to my accomplishing my tasks.
4:30 TP2 soft reset automatically (cleanRAM)
4:55am my TP2 turns on WIFI automatically (BeyondPod)
5am my podcasts and RSS feeds begin updating and downloading automatically (BeyondPod)
6am downloads are complete and I can catchup with a cup of coffee while getting ready for work
730am leaving for work, I can continue to listen to podcasts with a car mount, adapter, and charger... or pandora... or the FM radio on the TP2... or plop on any other media I wish to listen to during my commute. Best part is that phone calls, text messages, and emails are read to me as they come in through the car speakers. I don't even have to look at it to get the message details. (voice command)
During the workday I can stay abreast of what is going on with the TP2 from schedules to messages to appointments all using mymobiler, bluetooth, and voice command.
at noon and 4pm my podcasts update again automatically (need that latest CNN update for the ride home) (BeyondPod)
For navigation I use a combination of Bing and Nav4All (both free).
At home and during waiting times (dr office... etc) I use thechanner or watch a show on tv.com.
This is by far the best PDA I have ever had (and I have have had many).
Oh yeah... let me put in a plug for my favorite interface. Really this is the key behind the in-vehicle usability for me. SPB Mobile Shell is a sweet sweet interface. It cost 30 bucks but it is completely worth it. The interface is so simple and customizable that it makes using the device while driving as easy as using a regular radio (you do have to setup your interface though ). SPB 3.5.3 is IMO light years ahead of Sense/Manila.
Im running the stock TMo 6.1 ROM with .17 radio. I tried the TMo 6.5 ROM and it broke most of what I did before. BeyondPod didnt work right... 6.5 froze frequently... That new start menu ... It was a nightmare. I tried it for a week and went back to 6.1
Aside from the stock 6.1, Im using
- SPB Mobile Shell
- Spike's MicNeo taskbar
- qwertymemory and dcibattery -- puts the battery and memory indicator at the top of the screen.
- Swype
- Battery 1% driver
- Lumos backlight tool
- WMLonglife
- Changescreen -- screen rotator
- cleanRAM
Apps
- BeyondPod
- theChanner
- TCPMP
- Bing WM6 (NOT THE NEW VERSION)
- nav4all
- Pandora
Tools
- Registry Editor
- Advanced Config
- HTCPedia Rhodium Tool (highly recommended!)
So thats how I use my TP2. Does anyone have another use for it? I really love the automated features that I use.

I used my TP2 to read push emails and make phone calls.
Other useful feature I commonly use is Copilot

Oh yeah... it makes calls too. LMAO
But since google voice and text voicemail... Im a call screening SOB! My phone answer rate has drop 50% easily.

Here's my Tilt 2's "schedule" daily I suppose one could say...
3:00 am - Sprite backup backs up the system, reboots the phone
6:30 am - GAlarm wakes me up for work
6:35 am - GAlarm's snooze goes off
6:40 am - GAlarm's snooze goes off...... okay I'll stop here..
8:00 am - PhoneAlarm changes the Profile to Home (sets various settings, increases volumes etc)
8:00 am - FlexMail is automatically launched by PhoneAlarm's "Home" profile, fetches my email, runs the rest of the day
8:00 am - GPSToday starts recording my location with its "smart" algorithm, logs to memory card for later upload to TrackMe's web service
8:00 am - CellID starts uploading my approximate celltower location to my website every 10m if the cell ID has changed
8:30 am - Waze guides me to work, showing me the congested routes etc
9:00 am - PhoneAlarm sets profile to "Work" (makes most things quieter)
9:00 am - TodayAgenda gets me moving towards the right meeting in the morning
9:00 - 17:00 - Mix of ActiveGCSync (sync calendar against Google) and Pocket Informant to track meetings
9:00 - 17:00 - PhoneAlarm sets profile to "Meeting" which nearly mutes the phone sounds during meetings
9:00 - 17:00 - Mix of SpeedReader, allReader, fim, Nitrogen gets me through the day between things
13:00 - Top off phone battery during lunch or between meetings in the afternoon
18:00 - PhoneAlarm sets profile back to Home
18:00 - Waze shows me the way to where I'm going after work
19:00 - GcZII guides me to the latest nearby geocaches if I have time
19:00 - 23:00 - Speedreader, allReader, PocketTwit, fim, nanoGroove, Nitrogen, among many other toys/utilities/tools work for me the rest of the day
23:30 - CellID and GPSToday stop tracking me for the night
23:45 - PhoneAlarm sets the profile to "Night" which mutes everything
Somewhere in there I might make a call or two But not much. Had the phone since 10/15/09 and Device Information tells me 6:08 incoming, 3:01 outgoing.

I'd be lost without it. Where to start?
First of all it's my alarm to wake me up for work and class. I also use it as my daily planner and schedule all my plans in my calendar.
I do most of my e-mailing from my TP2, so thank god for the awesome keyboard. I constantly am reading RSS feeds on the internet via Google Reader and love having mobile internet in general.
I take tons of photos with it as well and listen to music on it frequently, both Pandora Radio and internal music. Ever so often I use the GPS function to get me around, I do use Google Maps to find stuff near by and check for traffic.
SPB TV, check! Nothing like sitting out in public and watching TV on my cell phone. So many people get weirded out by it in the sense it's something they weren't expecting to see.
I do a lot of mobile facebooking and pockeTwit to keep in contact with family aboard.
I use Midomi to check the name of songs and cleanRAM to keep it all running smoothly.
I actually have to edit papers on Microsoft Word ever so often and read over PowerPoints for class. I try and keep my notes together via OneNote. I'm debating on switching over to EverNote or Google Internet notes.
I think the shorter answer would be what don't I do with my Touch Pro 2? I use it less as a phone for calling and texting and more like a Mobile Internet Device or laptop.
I'm just waiting for Android for Rhodium CDMA to be completed so I can dual boot the two.

I absolutely love Evernote for notes. I use it for my TP2, on my desktop and if for some unfathomable reason I not near either, I can access my stuff via the cloud.
Truth be told though, if OneNote was free, I'd be using it though...

Do you mean the desktop client? Because my T-mobile TP2 has OneNote mobile included in the stock rom, and I can't find any ways it's crippled or restricted. I have the stock 6.1 ROM though, so I don't know if that was omitted in the newer 6.5 ROM.

Oh, they still typically are, but it's a 30 or 60 day trial. My wifes new laptop came with Office 2007 on it, she's an educator so she was able to buy it cheap. When she did, it insisted she download 370M to install even though it was clearly already installed... Go figure.

is there such a thing as scheduled silent/profile software

hi
i have searched google prior to posting here and it came up with photo contacts, but thats a lot more than what i need, also when i checked compatibility it said if you have an HTC s620 you need the smartphone edition, but looking at the features the SP edition doesnt seem to detail the scheduled times of silence/profiles like the touch screen version
all i want to have enabled is this:
lets say at 11pm each night, the phone makes itself silent.
then at 8am in the morning it reverts to normal profile again.
on my iphone, i have the kate software which does that for me, but nothing i can see for the excalibur
if anyone knows of anything that would be great
thanks
quaddy
I haven't tried this, but I believe you could set up an appointment in your calendar from, say, 11pm-8am repeating daily. Windows Mobile can set your profile as silent just like being in a meeting for that time period. It'd be the cheap-and-easy fix.
CT Scheduler, Autoflight, and Switchprofile! are two non-free applications that can do what you want.
DontForget and Snooze are two free ones that might work.
Check clickapps.com, smartphone-freeware.com, and connectivetools.com for them.
Yeah just set an appointment at the time u want it to be silent and set your status to busy I think. Then set your profile to automatic to when even that appointment starts it will automatically be silent
I use Cell Profile Switcher, it switches profiles based on what cell tower i am connected to.

idk
i havent tried i out yet but that might wrk
WOW - thanks for all the suggestions, greatly appreciated!

Bugs in TouchFlo & missing items

Going from a TyTnII to a Touch Pro 2 a few bug & short comings become obvious in the TouchFlo interface.
Home
The Date is only in US format, it ignores the region settings on the device
The alarm frequently doesn’t go off
The region settings if you change home city around midnight it will show day for original home city as yesterday but not as tomorrow
The calendar only shows today & tomorrow, the is no way to change this to the next 3 – 5 – 7 days
You can’t add tasks or anything else to the list
People
It’s fiddly to thumb through the contacts without accidently selecting one, & the side images are very fiddly
Go to All People find someone, select a number call them, but no answer. Go back to get another number & you have to start all over again, rather than still being on the same contact or even that same place in the list
Messages
It takes too long (5 seconds) for a message to change to read. Sending a contact by 3G it goes as MMS not SMS which it does when working just in Windows 6.1
If it’s a long message you can’t scroll up / down
The tab to enable the predictive 4 words is missing, only being enabled in the registry, possibly related but full querty keeps changing to a numbers only keypad or HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime.change CurrentET9Style from 0 to 1
Internet
Once active it doesn’t time out after any time. Hence opening you up to extra data charges & lower battery life
(If you want to stop it auto connecting, just put a user name but now password in the connections setting)
Calendar
No week view
Music
Takes a long time to load
No ABC list at side (as in contacts) with 5GB of music it’s a lot of scrolling
Library only shows those on Device unless you change it in WMP.
Camera
Why isn’t the 5 MP like the touch HD?
Why isn’t the GPS location enabled to start, rather than having to go into the registry
Stocks
I don’t know as I don’t do them
Settings
This looks better in 2.5
Buttons
Only one can be remapped – I use Phone button long hold to get into Windows 6.1
A number of games, while in the game could be remapped for left right turn fire
Software
Record isn’t there – so no more voice memos / call record mid call
Also there wasn’t a radio, but thanks to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521356 there is & it even has RDS, but more than 6 memories would be nice.
Even if it has a radio it still needs TMC for the traffic update in the CoPilot 7 GPS
Why when you upgrade 6.0 to 6.1 & I guess to 6.5 the whole device gets wiped, you have to load all the software again and there is no way of keeping scores or levels.
I had a TREO & the software took a normal back up, then apply that to a replacement & you can’t see the difference. Why can’t Windows backup do this?
Voice Recorder & Radio : it all depends on where you get your device. Mine comes with both.
Upgrade ROM wipes everything : that has always been the case with Pocket PC, not just with wm6
Wow, that's a long rant. But a lot of the stuff can be addressed or will be in the next revision of TF3D.

Use the phone app. IMHO, it's not as flashy but faster to search for a name in the phone app. Just type the person's name either with the dialpad or slideout keyboard.

Opera does time out on me quite a bit. If it takes too long to read from a site, it gives the 500 error timeout. Anyway, you can choose to completely kill Opera from your running programs. Search for it if it really bothers you. I think someone from the Topaz forum figured it out.

I have quite a bit of music on my SD card and it doesn't take an annoyingly amount of time to load. Besides, when it's loading, your device is still very much functional.
There should be a search function to find a particular song. But I think it fine as long as all your music are tagged appropriately so that you can search via album or artist.
The library shows all music in your SD card and in your My Music folder in main memory. I don't see anything wrong with this setup. Where else would you want the library to look?

This a little annoying. But I take this as an opportunity to clean out my device. I put organize all files into their respective folders, decide whether or not a particular app is useful enough to be reinstalled, etc.
Thank you for the reply & the links, I wasn’t trying to rant, just list the easily fixable short comings in one place & possibly HTC might get them fixed in a future release. I know it can be fun tinkering to improve, but I believe it should work out of the box.
Kitchens should be for extras
Time Zone Bug in the touch flow interface.
To avoid Outlook moving the times of my flights as the time zones change, I tell the phone not to auto update time zone & just change the time in my home town.
So when I arrived in Poland, I set my home town Cheltenham time on an hour. Later I discovered that the Phone had added GMT +1 Berlin & ignored the Warszawa time zone I had set.
When I came back to the US, turned on my phone looked later & it was asking me to select a city.
1) The problem with Outlook changing appointment times to suit time zones is just plane wrong.
2) Yet again Touch flow ignores a windows interface setting
3) It should at least ask you if it wants to change
4) It should look to see if you have a city in country you are in already selected instead of just adding more World Clock entries

Weather will not sync properly - any ideas?

had this problem yesterday and it has come back.
Everywhere is either sunny or clear.
Temperature at default location is different than if I set that location as an addition.
It doesn't seem to update - last night it was telling me it was sunny at midnight. Doesn't update even when manually synced.
Have checked all obvious sync issues in menus - and location is set, etc.
Have closed app, have cleared caches
Have factory reset - problem recurs.
Any thoughts? Conflict with another app? I haven't downloaded anything that (explicitly) syncs though, apart from the Maps update.
I've also had problems with Weather syncing. Again, the added locations update fine but for the "where I am" part there is no weather display. This is intermittent but it doesn't seem to be related to the location.
Might it be connection problems? i.e. the Desire can't tell where it is? If it gets two mast lock-ons rather than three, it might compromise location update?
Perhaps, but odd it used to work at home and now doesn't and odd it gives two different reports on the weather at the same place?
I am going to wait and see if it sorts itself, somehow, and then consider a return as it really narks me that it doesn't work.
I am experiencing exactly the same symptoms as described by al89nut.
What apps have you installed Entropy? If a conflict, perhaps we can narrow it by seeing what we have in common?
Can someone whose Desire works try something?
Add where you are to the weather widget (so you are in Southampton, add Southampton) and tell me if it gives exactly the same temperature and the same weather forecast for the future as the homescreen (inc temps)
Ta

The only ones we share are Astro, Docs to Go and Goggles, plus possibly currency convertor if XE.
For me this all started when I could only connect as a disk drive and as not charge only, so eventually I went for a factory reset. I am fairly sure it worked 100% before that, but some of the apps were loaded shortly before.
I have just tried removing the widget (HTC clock) from the homescreen and re-installing it on another. And setting the news to sync automatically. Who knows?
EDIT Nope
Current = 57% and clear
Added same location= 52% and partly cloudy.
At least it isn't sunny at night
EDIT 2
manual update and they agree - first time. Maybe sorted by reinstalling widget
Now the effing thing tells me I am currently in a town 10 miles away.
I am getting roundly sick of this buggy piece of **** phone
So it's most certainly not the other apps. I just wonder why not many more people seem to be experiencing this bug.
I have a weird problem with the weather,
I dont auto update the weather but i do it manually when I wake up, i noticed something interesting, not sure wither its real or just my imagination
At morning i sync it (Home WiFi) it shows the Sun, and then i go work and i dont come back till late noon, i get back, take a shower watch some TV and then play with my desire again (by that time it is around 7:00 PM)
when i see it, i see the same temperature (cuz i didnt sync it since morning) but I dont see the Sun, ... i see the moon! and I didnt connect to WiFi except in the morning.
Anyone have this? is it a feature that checks the time of the day and shows Moon or Sun? or is it just the phone syncing offline? lol
The daytime default is to show the full sun, eg if it can't grab data for whatever reason). Guess at night it is the moon. So if mine can't update, it says it is sunny everywhere. But sometimes it is sunny at night.
I now think it is a signal lock issue.
I have the same problem, i travel a lot for my work and when i am in an other area it will show no weather for it and it will not auto update.
I did notice that if you update manually once, the checkbox "update automatically" will be unchecked. So obviously it will not autoupdate.

That doesn't happen for me -you mean the icon on the weather widget, the little circle on the left hand side? If I hit that, update and then check in application, sync is still enabled.

Syncing Outlook and *real* PIM on Android?

Hey,
got a Desire recently, which I basically love. The only thing that's giving me troubles is syncing Outlook (2007, will upgrade to 2010 shortly) contacts and calendar and the general way to use the Desire for legitimate PIM (especially calendar).
I used both an HTC Himalaya and Athena running Windows Mobile before, and the one thing that always worked smoothly was syncing with Outlook. Also, I really liked the way Outlook Mobile worked as a PIM solution (I used a today screen plug-in called Calendar+ I think to display my appointments for the next 10-14 days).
First of all, HTC Sync doesn't really work well for me. First time sync went just fine, but subsequent syncs put all my appointments of by one hour (I am in the GMT+1/CET time zone, that might have to do with it). This is especially annoying, as full-day appointments, birthdays, etc. are now displayed as lasting from 01.00 to 01.00 am.
Contacts get synced multiple times, so each phone contact is now available at least twice and as often as four or five times (all the contacts get linked into one by the Sense UI though).
Also, multiple groups are merged on subsequent syncs, for example if a contact is in the groups "Family" and "VIP" in Outlook, they are now in an Android-only "Family\;VIP" group.
Furthermore, Calendar (both from Android and HTC) really feely toy-ish, compared to Outlook Mobile. I was used to full-day-appointments being displayed as a general line of information with other appointments being display by time or length, including place and maybe conflicts with other appointments. The Android/HTC calendar just shows me a long list of things - I could use a spreadsheet or even a textfile if that's all I wanted or expected out of a calendar.
Is there an app, including widget(s) that is somewhat more like Outlook/Calendar+ on Windows Mobile?
Also, could my syncing troubles get solved if I decided to sync Outlook with Gmail/Google Calendar and sync the Desire with these (even though I'm not too keen to store these things in the Google Cloud).
Kind regards and thanks for any info anyone could provide!
Hi,
I have most of the sync working, but still get some odd things happen, like no GAL lookup and occasional duplicate entries. There is an app call Touchdown that is worth a look.
I am trying to get HTC to fix my issues, will let you know how I get on.
Peter
my HTC sync works fab!.. I have an Orange Uk .. slate colour !
I have office 2003 and at work 2007.. all works fine .
Contacts and calender works fine.. when you first sync you do get mutiple entry's for each user .. but the phone sorts this out for you ... re the mobile , facebook gmail etc
UK ist GMT, so maybe it's a bug in Sync that throws the appointments off by GMT±x hours?
It's OK that the contacts get merged, I jsut don't see it as desired behaviour to have every contact in my phone 8-10 times, even if the phone merges everything into one.
If I change any contact info on the phone and sync back into Outlook, who can guarantee the proper change is applied to the respective Outlook contact?
PIM - Personal Information Manager, what "smartphones" where soposed to be, what they used to be, what Android needs to become.
I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH, the 3 most important features of any PIM device is:
1. UNIVERSAL SEARCH
Search of the entire phone (not the internet), search through all your personal data, thru the contacts, notes, calendar, spreadsheets, memos, to-do lists, word processing files, SMS/MMS, thru every native apps, thru every 3rd party app data, anything and everything on your phone (not the internet) quickly and completely the way Palm OS did. Fast information retrieval of your personal data and databases is the most important and single most useful thing on this planet as far as PIM’s are concerned. Not links to twitter, not cool little icon creation tools, not fun cutesy little play things, but real world useful things.
2. UNIVERSAL CUT/COPY & PASTE
The ability to copy an address or sentence out of a text message or email, (not the entire message, only the portion you need) and paste it into a contact, or paste it into a memo or task field, or it into Google maps. Or Copy part of a to-do list item and paste it into a spreadsheet, or copy a value out of a spreadsheet cell and paste it into an email etc.
3. DESKTOP APPLICATION to sync with.
A desktop application to sync with, to back up all your PIM information (contacts, calendar, to-do lists, memos, wordprocessing files, spreadsheet files etc, to your PC and vice/versa (without being forced to use Outlook). Not syncing to “the cloud”, I don’t want all my personal info spread out all over the internet for who knows who to snoop through. I want my personal info on my phone and my desktop PC only. A Desktop application to be able to do the bulk of your data entry from your PC then syncing it to your phone instead of having to type out and tons of personal data, such as useful formulas, extensive notes about people, long letters or ebooks you want to cut and paste into your desktop app so you can sync it to your phone so you can read it on the road at your leasure without trying to type all that data into your little touch screen pad. To be able to look up information and data stored on my phone without not having to wait on a slow connection as it stores and retrieves from the cloud. And to be able to look up the same information on my desktop app when I can’t find my phone. To backup my data or retrieve it without being dependant an internet connection. When I lose my old phone, I want to be able to sync the new phone to my Desktop application had have all my personal info and data files loaded on to my new phone putting me right back in business without skipping a beat.
Primary PIM Apps to be fully intergreated with each other on the phone and on the Desktop are:
* Calendar/Scheduler/with very flexible alarms (i.e. repeat every third Thursday etc.). Should have Day/Week/Month/Year views.
* Contacts/Addresses/People that will show the long names on the screen when you select it.
* To Do List (KISS applies here, just need to easily slide line items up and down on the priority list and/or give it a changeable priority level, and to be able to attach longer notes if need be)
* Memo/Notes/Flash Cards to store anything and everything you think to write down to take note down, any thought, idea, note, comment, list of items, what someone said – Any and all inputs instantly retrievable by the “Universal Search”.
* Media/Pictures/Video/Music sync between desktop and device.
* Third party attachment handler (to automatically sync spreadsheet files for instance).
Store, Retrieve, and Manage/Manipulate Personal Information, that’s what Personal Information Managers (PIMs) are for. Not for doing animated gifs or other cutesy time wasters.
This is something the Twit(ers) writing software today don’t understand, not everyone has the luxury of laying around drinking soda pop and twittering each other all day, most of us need to actually get some work done in the real world. To manage and access personal information as well as internet info.
I would have switched from Palm OS to iPhone a couple years ago but the iPhone had no universal search or universal copy/paste at the time which made the iPhone worthless game machine to me. So I stayed with Palm. Now that Palm OS is being replaced with WebOS, I see now that the “new blood” writing the new Palm WebOS software left out the 3 most important things, the very things that made Palm great to begin with. So I bought a Droid Incredible, it falls flat on it’s face as a PIM, now I am back to carrying two devices a Palm OS for an actual working PIM, and a Droid for all the other “cool” stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Droid but it would be nice to get them back into one device again. The industry sometimes goes backwards instead of forwards. Now I see that Apple finally caught up to Palm by including a universal search and copy/paste into the iPhone finally, Android needs to catch up to Palm OS also, in a hurry, otherwise I may have to sidestep to an iphone when my one year contract is up.
PalmOS had a much more precise touch screen, all you had to do to select text was touch your fingernail, pen, or stylist to the letter you wanted to start with and drag to the end point to highlight the text you want, and then hit Menu/Copy. The new Johnny-come-lately touch screen phones do not have a precise way to select text directly, though the iPhone has come up with a good workaround for this, it’s not quite as fast and easy as the PalmOS but just as accurate at selecting only what you want, and it is universal just like the Palm.
If and when iambic ports Agendus to the Android OS it will be a great day for Android users, but the MOST IMPORTANT thing is we still need universal search & copy/paste across all 3-party applications. When I was a palm user I didn’t see the need for Agendus (a very robust PIM) because it seemed redundant on the Palm, but I could see the need for it on other platforms such as Windows devices, iPhone, BlackBerry etc. Now that I am a Droid user I see the need for Agendus for the Android. Agendus is starting to sound like a great Idea, a robust PIM application that can be ported to any new phone platform that comes out, that way you learn one app and keep it with you across platforms as the phone market keeps changing.

Mango First Impressions

Good update.
IE9 : Great, except for removing the Quick Buttons for Tabs and Favorites
Bing : Vision and Audio Great. Local Scout I haven't tried.
Search Button : Removed Contextual Search Button - Terrible.
Messaging Hub : WLM and FB Chat are virtually useless. Messages come in way too late, if they even arrive at all. 90% of the time, they don't arrive for WLM. Haven't tested FB, but not expecting anything different there.
Visual Voicemail : for me (on T-Mobile), excellent.
Task Switching : Excellent
Email Client Changes : Excellent
Office Hub Changes : Excellent but it feels like no one tested this. You can't mvoe or delete files in your skydrive. When you back out of a folder you go straight to Office Hub instead of One Folder up. Things are alphabetized, but they don't put folders on top. It's all mixed in there. Just seems a bit messy. Otherwise, works as you'd generally think it's intended to work. Connections are very fast, not a lot of load time.
People Hub Changes : Generally great. Still doesn't update in the background, which makes the load times even more ridiculous if you have a lot of updates to load.
Me Hub Changes : Great. Live Tile works for Social Notifications.
*** WP7 Still Doesn't have a decent notification Cache, which is a bit terrible. Needed ASAP, IMO.
Calendar : Synching of To-Dos from Windows Live is a much welcome feature.
XBox Live looks better.
Picture Hub by default does a slideshow of all your pictures. Not a welcome'd default.
Podcast support in Zune HD Hub : Yay!
Biggest disappointment for me was the apparent uselessness of the WLM/Facebook chat in Messaging Hub. It was probably the single biggest feature I was waiting for when you assume obvious things like Browser, etc. would be brought up to par (which they have been, exceeding many expectations). That being said, it makes me feel less bad about spending $9.99 on Beejive for Android 4 days ago.
I can't believe Microsoft forced IM+ to butcher their IM app... for this... And the worst thing is this will not get fixed without a full FW update, since it's built into the OS.
yeah I miss the buttons for new tabs and favorites/history

if you set it to shuffle background it will do a slide show of your favorites
and
I havent used FB chat on RTM yet, but with the Dev beta FB chat worked great and fast
If the FB works great and fast that's cool and all.
I just know the WLM is useless outside of knowing who's online or sending one message you don't expect a response to, because it barely recieves the replies and when it does it recieves them anywhere from 0.5-3 minutes after other WLM clients both on WP7 and other platforms.
It's actually worse than Messenger by Miyowa, which is a miracle...
not sure your issue with WLM. It works flawlessly for me (and in real time).

The WLM / Facebook chat works allright for me. It takes a little longer for messages to reach, but I've had long, fast conversations with it and it has worked flawlessly.
I was testing it out earlier by chatting back and forth with a friend of mine. Worked just fine. As soon as I hit send, I saw it come up on the computer. When I saw his message hit the comp, it hit my phone. Last one was about 2 seconds behind.
Now, I was on wi-fi. So, performance may vary with connection speed. Will test on 3G tomorrow.
My FB chat is almost instant. (Sprint HTC Arrive)
Facebook almost instant. Wlm, no.
And sorry but I was trying it with two phones and a computer. Its not operator error.
Sent from my HD7 using Board Express
And now that that has prompted me to recheck, the notifications and delivery seem equal to the android clients now...

WLM on the phone I think from my experience stops receiving messages if you respond elsewhere. Fo exmaple if a friend messages me, I get it simultaneously on the phone, web and desktop messenger. If I repsond on the phone I recieve all replies in realtime across all options. However if I reply on the desktop messenger or the web, I no longer recieve replies on the phone until I start responding on the phone. This works fine for me as it saves battery since im already responding elsewhere.
That's how it's intended to work. You're only supposed to receive responses on your phone to messages that were sent from your phone. With that being said, my WLM and Facebook are both instant. Not sure if it has to do with signal strength or what. I use both all day, and both never hiccup.
Haven't tried WLM yet, but FB chat is absolutely instant for me. I chatted with my wife basically in real time from my phone to her laptop.
They have removed timer from dropdown volume bar when tracks are played.
Call history still doesn't show call duration.. Only history which is useless.
I don't want that favorite window in pics hub. I don't have time to favorite pics.
Can't add more than 20 people to one group.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Had the same issue with fb chat over wifi. But it's real time with 3G.
Maybe it's my connection and it's unrelated.
I would give it an 8 out of 10, they lose points for the extra taps required for tabs and favourites in IE. Biggest joy for me though was being able to change the default search provider from the truly awful Yahoo that O2 UK had forced upon us in earlier version to Bing!!!
It would appear to me if you have a contact that is Facebook linked and WLM linked it will only allow you to message them on there Facebook, which i guess makes sense since most people like them bother.
Bad:
Twitter updates doesnt work even though my account has synched with the phone.
Windows Live posts/updates doesnt work either.
Hardware search-button is COMPLETELY useless. "We can't connect to search at the moment. Check mobile data or WiFi connection".. Yeah I have full data and WiFi connection thank you very ****ing much. This is bull****. I know Local Scout and Bing Maps isnt available here but at least give me a web search or send me to bing web page. Useless!
Since I activated my Swedish Live-ID Zune doesn't get artist-backgrounds or artist-info. I should have figured since Zune Service isnt available here in Sweden. Album art on lockscreen doesn't work either. (Seriously?! I understand why we cant buy music through the Zune Service yet here in Sweden but why the hell cant my albumart be displayed?)
Good:
I love the new Live Tiles for groups and Me-tile, love the notifications.
Love Threads in email-apps and the ability to link mailboxes.
Like the new fb-integration, so far I havent installed the fb-app, I still miss that we cant see who like a certain photo etc.

Wrong. WLM supports multiple points of presense.
Being logged in at multiple places doesn't matter. WLM has worked like this for over half a decade, now, if not longer.

The Phone Prioritizes FB > WLM > SMS/MMS
You can switch between the three manually, with the switch button on the bottom of the screen.
Too bad there are no delivery confirmations like BeejiveIM or S/D/R tags like Blackberry/Kik Messenger.
Would like the ability to send Video, Contact, and Location as well.
