Hi there,
Playing with Crossbow for a while now and here is what problems I encountered:
==============================================================================
1. No Videocalling support.
This is a well known one by now. Hope the fix is there soon!
2.Windows Live Messenger contacts to be synced with own Outlook contacts.
Also a well known one and very annoying as well. As annoying as it is, I guess I can live with that.
3. "Suggesting words when entering text" automatically enabled after soft reset.
Also very annoying. I always disable this function just because I don't want the device to suggest words while I'm typing. Seems to be a bug.
4. Homepage cannot be set in Internet Explorer.
The option is actually there in "Options", but the entry field is disabled, so it will keep Google.com as default home page. You can still set the home page by change the corresponding key in the register, but I think it should be possible just to set it in the Internet Explorer itself.
5. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cannot be activated/deactivated by using the "Wireless" today screen item.
Better yet: the entire "Wireless" today item isn't doing anything when you click it.
6. ClearVue PDF comes up with an error when opening a PDF document.
Sometimes it will open a file, but most of the time it won't. You can use PDF files by installing Adobe Reader 2.0, but ofcourse it just has to work with the built-in ClearVue.
7. Freeze after soft reset.
Sometimes the device just freezes when rebooting after a soft reset.
Sometimes at the "Enter pin" screen, somtimes after entering the pin code.
Soft resetting again solves the problem. Bug?
==============================================================================
That's the list.
I hope this information means some value to you who are improving Crossbow!!
4) use registry
3) no need to edit it in registry, just click yourself through settings<br>
Start / Settings / Input / Word Completition.<br><br>
And I think it is not bug, but feature. If it wouldnt be switched on, you might not know your device can do it
because you either selected us as your location or you didn't select one and us is default
yes you were right, thanks. Tried to delete that post but no luck.
2) Actually, you can prevent that the synchronization of Messenger contacts results in unwanted contacts in Outlook:
- Before you sign in to Messenger, do the following
- Open Outlook (either on your PC or on your mobile device)
- For each of the contacts you've defined both in your Outlook and in your Messenger contact lists, specify the instant-messaging (e-mail) address of the Messenger-contact in the Outlook-contact; in the field called "IM" (in Outlook Mobile) or "IM Address" (in Outlook 2007)
- If you did the previous on your PC, synchronize your Mobile device with your PC
- Then sign in to Messenger on your mobile device
Now, when you open your Contacts application, you can see which contacts are online...

It IS a bug. I don't want this function to be enabled, so I switched it off. After a softreset it's always switched on again.
Mate your a bug! I am a systems analyst ok. A bug is something that DOES NOT WORK! Not something that doesn't work the way you like it!!
I see this trick every day. People request modifications that they want urgently by posting them as bugs.
Stop wasting midget's time. A new WM 6 ROM is important and needs to be tested and DE-BUGGED so amateurs like you can modify to your hearts content while power users like US can run a stable operating system.
I don't mean any offense but posts like yours waste our time - for example I receive these live via push email and feel compelled to review them in case there really is a BUG I need to be aware of.
My advice to you - go and buy a second hand palm & go play in the traffic...

Not that I care, but:
-Videocalling is supposed to work, and doesn't. That, by your definition, is a bug.
- Freezing on soft reset is a BUG. Freezing for any INTERNAL reason is due to something NOT WORKING
- Homepage settings, and word completion, settings not sticking after a reset are BUGS, because IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO THAT.
- The BUILT IN PDF program that freezes when you open PDF's is not a bug????
- I'll give you the wireless plugin for now because I am not sure if it is supposed to act differently.
Just because YOU CAN"T FIX IT doesn't mean it's not a bug!!! There are a lot of low-level users that read these forums and use these hacks. Issues like this are important to know to people who are contemplating changing ROM's. Have some consideration for them, and everyone else on this forum other than yourself.
I hope this is being pushed to your phone right now, and you are in the middle of something very intensive.

Encryption
Bug :
- Encryption Control Panel applet is useless.
I have to make registry changes to use encryption.
( By adding values to HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\SDMemory)

And thanks for your support. Much appreciated. Really!
Anyway, when I uncheck the 'suggestion words' option by choice and it returns to enabled after a softreset... is that something that does work correctly then? It's not.

Well, I suggest waiting 5 minutes before soft-resetting. Changes you make to the registry need to be synced to the flash rom, which will take a little while. Happens everywhere, though. Try reading an email with direct push enabled (marking it as read) and immediately reboot. After starting mail again you'll see that that the mail you just read is marked as unread again. Same issue.
Just FYI...

Well then 17ish meg is pretty good then. Take it that would be normal use then - not really surprised.
The title is a bit of a provocation to attract people to the thread
To start with: animation, menus, etc... are quite fluid (Though less than on my M2D custom Rom on my Hermes, but that's not my point here, secreen def is much higher and it's 3D...)
My problem (that mya have I fix, at least I hope so) is quite specific:
In some menus accessing to data is VERY slow and I dont understand why
1. When accessing to a contact (So clicking from the lists of contats) it takes several seconds to have the contact details appear. This is VERY annoying. Does it come from my numer of contacts (900), I dont think so... It looks a bit like something is being downloaded, or some extra info put in memory... difficult to tell but anywya I would like to kow if you have the same problem
2. When accessing SMS from Manilla 3d... it takes ages to open the first SMS in the pile or to open "All messages". It's quite weird: if I swap through the task manager to the SMS application... it switches in an instant. If I have the SMS application already open and try to access it through the manila 3D...
(I have quite a lot of SMS, but less than emails, or which it is less slow)
I noticed some similar slowlyness in some otehr parts but just cant remeber where
Otherwise to bith about about Manilla 3D (that I do still really like... at least froma "look" point of view): too many important menus are missing compared to WM6.1 original menus. Like choose which folder you can activesync within your email folders, or save a phone number from a newly received SMS into an existing contact (Can only sve in a new one...). Etc, etc...
Anyway to chose which original WM6.1 menus are prompted / not prompted ?
To address your pts...
1. I think the lag has to do with the new "People-centric" contact card. It take a little time to gather all emails, calls, and messages with a particular person. You probably won't experience this lag if you use the default Windows Mobile contact app.
2. What I mentioned in 1 applies here too. So, I never click the messages directly in TF3D because this actually opens the contact card. I keep the messaging app opened at all times. Just click All Messages to quickly see the threaded conversation if you have to. If you use "Reply" from TF3D, the composing window will also open faster (if you have the messaging app opened already)
1. Agreed that's what I suspect... But I dont have the proof. Yes the default Windows Mobile App is much faster
There must be a workaround like starting to open what is immediately available for the contact while loading the rest in the bakground
Unfortunately this may be a litle too deep and needs a different code --> not fixable with some regedit
Hopefully we are wrong. The "people-centric" thing is on of the reason why I like the TP2 (Definitely not the only one) and if this means waiting 3 to 4 seconds to open a contact, HTC just ****ed up on it (It's not acceptable when you need to open several contacts)
2. Yes I use already only "All message" since clicking on the message takes ages to open
BUT even "All messages" is still very slow compared to open the messaging app (I do always keep the messaging app open)
All in all it's nice to offer good looking features, but if the price is such a sluggishness I think there is nothing to be proud of
Luckily HTC will improve this with time (But still, it's really annoying)

Haha, you must be exaggerating. Just to keep things sane around here, the time lag is about 1 second to open the unified communications contact card. This is compared to the approximately 0.5 seconds to open the contact details in the default WinMo contact app. If you try to open the SMS or Email section of the contact card, it does take about 2-3 seconds...

Not sure what you mean on this part. Doesn't clicking "All messages" in TF3D open the default messaging app?
Then I must have a problem with my device (or my ocntacts (I have nearly 1,000). I just tried one contact right now from the list of all contacts: 12 seconds (Yeah befoire I was just giving an estimate...). I tried anoterh one , 17 seconds... (Piture or no picture doesnt change anything)
These figures is rom opening a contact from the list of all contacts in TF3D
I guess you understand how annoyd I am... And cliking on "Back" to come back from the list of contacts to the main menu (WHer you see "Add favorites") takes 5 seconds
I really hope to find a solution...
For the last part, sorry my mistake it's when I click on the messages tab that it takes around 4 seconds to have the messages menu and I na click on the bottom left menu "All messages" (Then after it's quick)
I have a serious problem with my TF3D...

The very interesting thing is if I open the same contact by clicking at its name from let's say an email, it's nearly instantaneous (like half a second)
What's wrong with my phone ?? Anybody with the same issue ?
your insane amount of contacts are prolly slowing everything down.
a 1000 contacs is normal, i have more than 1500 on my TP2
its true that TF3D sometimes slow, i mean, those things sometimes happen also to me, but not always, only sometimes, maybe when the TP2 processess a lot or memory almost done for
1000 contacts is alot but this is a business device so that really shouldnt be a problem imho.
Though I doubt WM uses any kind of clever database method for storing them, not like SQL Server mobile is installed on the phone with Intel QuadCore, so I think some slowdown is to be expected mate tbh
Yes it's a professional device 1,000 contacts should not be an issue (Actually it's mostly friends, but let's say that for a geek I enjoy quite a crazy social life)
Anyway it was handled properly on my Hermes with Manilla 2D. I am very disapointed it is not the case with the TP2
Again the very strange thing is if I open the contact by clicking on name in my emails title, I get the contact file to open nearly immediately. If it's from the list of contacts... 10 seconds at least. This doenst make sense
and I hate the fact that you have to "slide" to accept/reject the call. I mean come on, it's cool and all that but it's not user friendly!
So many times my calls got missed because a friend didn't understand how to accept the call for me (it was too late whenever they read that "Slide to Answer/Ignore" text)

Anybody on my open contact issue ?
So on 01/01, I upgraded from my 2 year old 8525 (no mods done to it) to a ATT Tilt 2; and so far here is my issues/things I need help with/report:
Within the first 20 days of the 30 day return period, the SMS notification audible stopped working on sent messages. The notification on the screen still showed on the bottom just no sound. No setting change or soft reset fixed. No other issues before that point.
Got new phone.
Within 5 days on phone number two, the phone would default to SMS tree view (view is found by going to messages in touchflo and selecting 'All Messages' from the bottom left.) Would move TouchFlo to Home screen (my background that shows clock, date, etc.), hit the power key to power save, hit power key to power up, and then on SMS tree view, not my home screen. Didn't matter how long after I manually put phone in power save, it would still not default to homepage screen. Only consistently did this when I manually used the power button to put in power save. When I locked the phone and put in power save no issues, or it was random. When the phone went into power save by itself after my 2 minutes delay, the issue was random. This phone also froze on me twice upon in the SMS function.
Got new phone yesterday.
So far no issues.
So I'm on phone number 3, with the first 2 having software issues.
No mods to any of the phones (yet), and if this phone has issues, I have option to return and pay no restocking fee and get a different phone (probably an iPhone 16GB at this point, as much as I don't want one), or start downloading new manillas, cabs, and shells for this one.
Is there any updates out there I am missing, or anything else I am missing.
I've got my Cox Email (a POP3 push), my Hotmail, and my Yahoo Email (as an IMAP, it defaulted the setup that way) setup, and no other real changes. Using my old microSD card (1GB) that's got songs, audio clips, and pics/vids on it.
I saw the thread on att wireless forums for the update on an SMS freezing issue, not sure if relates to any of my issues, or if I should go ahead and upload to number 3 phone I currently have anyways. And should I upload other fix as well, eventhough I never saw issues with caller id on first 2 phones (coming in as unknown even though contact is calling you). Haven't had third phone long enough to discern any issues yet.
More info: I always have touchflo active
What do I need to do to get things on this phone to make sure it doesn't mess up? Other things one would suggest to customize the phone?
I WANT THE MOST GLITCH FREE POSSIBLE PHONE
Thanks
and sorry for the newb questions
Also to note:
I am technology illiterate. Simple explanations of every step is needed for me.
Also to note, I have a laptop that is running Vista 64bit and I have not uploaded the ActiveSync software to my laptop yet
my brother mentioned something to me about a PIM? for backup?
I can't speak to all the other issues you've seen, but AT&T packs a lot of bloat-ware on the stock ROM they put on the Tilt2, and it's usually stuff that users have no need for.
There's a utility at this thread that will sweep all that junk off in one swipe, you'll find it frees up a good amount of the available memory in the phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=587637&highlight=crud+scraper
Okay. Thanks for the reply.
Something I want to do is get rid of all the crap I don't want, including but not limited to:
- all demo stuff
- the music files that came on the phone (artists: Chris Hawkes, Pacha Massive, Sidestepper)
- AT&T Navigator
- WorldCard Mobile
anything that is not related to phone, text, email, internet, my photos and music from my card, Facebook, stocks, weather = rest of it gone
I was reading in the sticky threads on how to do what and was still confusing and it scared me from doing anything to this phone, but I know I need to do things to clean it up and make it run better
Can anyone give me an idiot, idiot, to the supreme idiot guide on how to do what I need to do?
1. Upload ActiveSync to my laptop (not done yet) (my laptop runs Vista 64bit)
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
All I want to do is make the phone run better and fix glitches, and not have any glitches in doing this.
Thanks
After I do steps 1 - whatever,
should I install hotfix for unknown caller id and freezing SMS issue
htp://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=125218
or would another thing from someone else resolve this?
Maybe what I learned will help?
Have a look at this thread, and see if it helps you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625730
Good luck!
yeah it was a help thanks for the reply, but it wasn't a help.
as you see above, i haven't even put the activesync software on my laptop. so after i do that, what do i need to do first to get that crud+scraper and other things on my phone?
idiots guide please
what i need to do in what order is very confusing to me. all of this is confusing to me
i just want my phone to be less bloated and work properly with no issues. i think i have seen the caller id issue and not sure if i'm still getting the sms tree issue i saw on phone #2 i just replaced
The order is listed.
Hi again,
Yes, go ahead and get activesync on your computer 1st thing
then, Look at post #9. Do it in that order.
The .net 3.5 mentioned can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en
Just download that, and run it while your phone is connected to activesync. It will put .net 3.5 on your phone. Next, copy the 3 files for crud scraper onto the phone somewhere you can find it, like my documents (on your PC, you'll need to right-click, copy, then right click, paste). Once the files are on the phone, just find the folder you put them in and click on the 'poop' icon. You can then clean off all the crap you want by checking the boxes.
So,
#1 Get activesync
#2 get .net 3.5
#3 run crudscraper
#4 I highly recommend SPB mobile shell. (google it) It just makes much easier to navigate the phone. There is a free 15 day trial.
#5 any of the other apps I mentioned are good.
That should get you started.
thanks for the reply subterran
subterran:
any thoughts to my homepage/message tree issue that occured with #2, and mow occuring with #3 phone I currently have? Thanks
the phone would default to SMS tree view (view is found by going to messages in touchflo and selecting 'All Messages' from the bottom left.) Would move TouchFlo to Home screen (my background that shows clock, date, etc.), hit the power key to power save, hit power key to power up, and then on SMS tree view, not my home screen. It would seem that there are an awful lot of new threads on the subject, perhaps we could concentrate all the issues that we have with it (no matter which flavour) in one thread, can be this one or another, I don't mind but I think it should be done, would tidy things up a little.
Anyway, reason for starting this one is to try and collate all of the issues that we have with it, you never know, people in the right places may listen, but then again, pigs might fly, but it's the thought that counts! lol.
Generally
I like the update, I like using Sense 2.5 with the new twitter tab and the new programme buttons on the home screen, Facebook seems a little more integrated and I like that fact you have to dig a little deeper to get to WM.
However;
Home Screen
Weather animation is slow and laggy if;
a) You have more than 3 programmes added or;
b) More that one contact added
However, if the clock is minimised and all programme tabs visible, the animations are as good ad the demo and weather tab. Very annoying!!!!
Contacts
I like the new People shortcuts, but the fluidity of scrolling is rubbish, it's very jerky.
Open a contact and then tap edit, way too slow to open up and edit, perhaps 3-4 seconds. In real time, that's not a lot, but it is when using a phone. Then tap save, WTF! this takes even longer and it would appear to be even worse when you link your profile to FB, it's to the point of being painful.
This is just as bad if you tap on Menu and the edit.
Update and Events
Well, installed the 'hotfix' for FB Albums; guess what? It doesn't work, I still cannot seen any pictures in any album. I even wiped the ROM and started completeyl fresh to see if that was causing issues, but nope, still doesn't work.
I'm not overly happy that adding people to my favourites adds notes to each person and addes them to the HTC Favourites Group. We never needed that with Sense 2.1 so why now?
I thought that perhaps the issues I have with the Contacts is because I have over 700. Nope, doesn't seem to make a blind bit of difference how many or few you have, still get the same issues.
Messaging
I like the HTC SMS Client, it's starting to grow on me..... just. However,
When replying to a sms in landscape with the keyboard exposed, tap the menu softkey and then try and use the keyboard up and down arrows. Gues what, you cant! Very annoying.
I also cannot see how I can add the little pop up that tells me the sms has been sent. Now I know that most people on here don't like that, but I did, maybe I'm wired.
I also don't like it that the delivery report forms part of the treaded message as opposed to being separate - maybe that's mee being too fussy.
Calendar
I like the calendar it looks cleaner although the one big annoyance is the agenda view. No matter if I tap on the event from the home page or from the sliding menu at the bottom, the agenda view taks a good 5 seconds to load - outrageous! lol.
Twitter tab
Again, I like the twitter tab but, on a few occaisions, without any prior warning, all tweets disappear!?! hhmmmmm
Settings tab
For me, the Sound & Display menu is a little slow at showing but it's not too bad.
Other Issues
SOD - (Standby of Death) Only ever experienced this once and have no idea what caused it.
Radio 4.49.25.91 - Sometimes, when I travel through a bad signal area, the radio with not 'refresh' it's self and run through the signal search loop, it just sits there and sits there with the exclamation mark until I manually turn the radio off and back on again. Never had this issue with 4.49.25.17.
Finally, to ensure that the issues highlighted above were not due to remnants of previous ROM files hanging behind ofter flashing, I ran Task29 on the device to ensure that the ROM storage was clear and cleaned of any rubbish and freshly installed 2.07.401.1.
After all that, I genuinely do like this ROM and I guess these are just annoying niggles but you can only take so much. Am I going to revert back to WM 6.5 with Sense 2.1, only time will tell.
Agree with pretty much all you have said. Specifically
1 important to concentrate all all issues with this ROM in one thread
2 these are some key other threads on XDA that I think are relevant with issues from this ROM, at least can be referred to from here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648510
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631563
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634536
3 SOD is the biggest issue for me. Happens frequently during the day. HTC want me to send the device for repair, but I do not believe this to be a hardware issue. Phone has functioned perfectly since new in May 2009, SOD has only arisen on moving to this March 18th ROM
4 HTC posting data in our Contacts : terrible. This was certainly the cause of lock ups I had when first installing the ROM as that data got more and more corrupted.
5 I cannot get Facebook auto update working. I have about 1,000 contacts, about 50 of them synced to Facebook
6 Twitter does not fully update for me
7 Overall, when it works, I think Sense 2.5 is very good. I haven't had any issues with the SMS client which I think is a very good improvement over 2.1
8 as it stands, phone is unusable. I cannot rely on it for people to contact me as it is often SOD. A phone that people can't ring? That's not progress
9 Facebook albums - doesn't work, have never been able to get this working. Link to patch on HTC Europe website is broken, do HTC know?
Come on HTC, accept that you have an issue, agree to investigate and fix it.
Am in the UK, unlocked, unbranded phone, I use O2.
Calendar
The slowness in the Agenda seems to be negatively influenced by having all-day, and/or recurring appointments.
One thing I noticed is that when editing a single occurrence of an recurring appointment, you can change the time, but not the date of the occurrence (which is possible in the default client).
Messaging
Although I like the messaging app, it takes an awful long time to load one thread. Why didn't they implement this the same way as the default client (limited number of messages shown, with a link to "older messages")?
Other issues
Memory usage is ok after a soft reset (around 50%), but after a day of use it easily reaches 75-80%, even with all programs closed.

I concur with that. That's going to be a bit of a problem for me as I have several re-ocurring appointments.
I have issues with the new rom also.
I have the same issues you have. In addition my speakerphone function doesn't work most of the time. I have to turn it of and back on again and sometimes even redial.

I have the same issues you have. In addition my speakerphone function doesn't work most of the time. I have to turn it of and back on again and sometimes even redial.

Rob

Personally, I haven't noticed any difference with previous ROM's in this respect.
Hmm. Seems after a soft reset file activity is better now.
Wow, editing favorite contacts is really slow. I added a few lines to the notes of one of my favorites, and it took literally 5 minutes to get back to the Home screen.
For me it helped reflashing the ROM; flash the Sense 2.5 ROM and then immediately flash it again. Made it slightly more responsive. Other than that, I have the same issues as you do.
Contacted HTC about it and they told me UPS should pick up the phone since it's a hardware problem... Yeah right.
For me the most annoying part is the speaker phone issue, annoying when ppl can't hear me.
I've contacted support through HTC's website. I've putted in 4 problems and got an awnser on 2.
The speaker problem is a hardware failure according to the support desk. Such a nonsens!
This ROM is broken and they should fix it!
Other issues
Memory usage is ok after a soft reset (around 50%), but after a day of use it easily reaches 75-80%, even with all programs closed.[/QUOTE]
Hy.what about Call History in Home Screen?i don't have CH

That's not really an issue; that's how the new Sense is designed. If you want it back, look for C00kie's Home Tab Mod.

You don't need Call History, just tap "Phone" and it's there.

They told me that as well, wanted me to ship them the phone by UPS since it was a hardware problem... even though I told them lots of others have that problem with 2.5 and that it was JUST FINE before upgrading.
Found errors and one worth to add, too.
Error - Calendar:
I've tried to insert a birthday reminder in July 20th, and set it up for "ever July 20th" but i wont listet in July, the reason is, its added in april, i think its the current Month, seems to like an variableerror or an programmingerror. Defently worth to fix.
Worth to add - General / Shortlinks:
A shortlink to settingstab/menu, its annoying to have 5 tabs to access the real options + the loading time of the differnt tabs/menus.
Optional - Found something helpful - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285366
Very worth to add - Onlinerules (maybe there is a programm that provides this):
It's annoying when i at home that, in the second i tab on the power button my w-lan and bei umtsmodule begins to initiate simultanly an internet connection, there could be some rule, w-lan before umts or something, the device got A-GPS, maybe set a home zone where the UMTS lets the w-lan the higher priority and get into the internet. But i've always use the shortcut FN+Commandcenter(rightkey) to deactivate the UMTS, because i doenst recognize that the wlan is 5 times faster.
Maybe we could all errors to the first post, for a better overview.
Since the new update, the task-manager-icon(little thing with the arrow), showing running programs and memory usage has disappeared anyone know how to get it back? I've already tried installing the HTC Task Manager 2, but it didn't help

Find Duttys Task Manager for Leo, install and it should work, but, it cuoldnt close all apps(opera, AS,etc) so you have to check it with builtin task manager from time to time to really close them.

Agree with pretty much all you have said. Specifically
1 important to concentrate all all issues with this ROM in one thread
2 these are some key other threads on XDA that I think are relevant with issues from this ROM, at least can be referred to from here :

Completely agree with all in the above post, especially the SOD which is completely random on my device which is only 3 weeks old (bought from clove and shipped with the latest official HTC ROM) I have been naggin my boss to buy me a tp2 for months as my tytn2 was becoming unreliable and now i find the tp2 even worse, even though im a die hard HTC fan i fear i might have to consider sending the device back and getting a blackberry as this is totally unacceptable for a business tool. Have also reported the issue to HTC to which i got a reply of "try a hard reset" which isnt very good when the device was only 4days old at the time.

That your new phone is SOD'ing is very bad news indeed. Mine is heading back to HTC tomorrow, quite why I don't know as categorically the issues are with the March 18th ROM. Have simply lost the will to live in corresponding with HTC's "technical support".
Technical support, my arse.
Right - let us try and be constructive.
My TP2 which works flawlessly with ROM's up to March 18th
It has only ever had HTC stock ROM's
it was bought unlocked and unbranded from Clove in May 2009. I am on O2
It has a 6 Gb Micro SD card
I have never used HardSPL
I use Commontime mSuite software to link the TP2 with our Lotus Notes installation, syncing Contacts, email and calendar
even without installing any software whatsoever on top of March 18th ROM I have had SOD
Sense 2.5 places unauthorised (by me!) data in the Comments field of your contacts with details of Facebook & favourites Sense entries. This data gets appended to the Comments field in Lotus Notes and renders that field corrupted.
In the 10 months between May 2009 and March 2010, I never had a single SOD incident. Since the March 18th ROM, I would get at least 6 SOD's per day. I do not feel that I am being Sherlock Holmes by suggesting that the SOD issue is linked exclusively to the March 18th ROM.
In sheer frustration and because I actually need to use the TP2, I recently reverted to the previous ROM. No SOD's.
Anyway, all you SOD'ers out there (or is it just me), what is the precise make up of your TP2, can we find anything in common?
My wife and I both now have WM phones (mine is a Tilt 2, hers a Pure) and we don't want to spend money on text messages to each other, since each text message would count twice... once for her receiving and once for me sending. (on a pay per use plan it would be $0.40 each!).
I was looking for other options. Push email is o.k. but often times there can be a minute or more delay, and my early tests of push gmail are not producing any confidence that it would push reliably.
So then I was thinking IM. It looks like IM programs would be battery hogs, and have to stay running in the background, and could easily be accidentally closed. Also, when the phone goes to sleep it seems like they then switch you to "offline".
So am I missing something? What are my sms like, non sms options?
Also does anyone have any small programs that would set up a auto-soft reset on a repeating schedule, it would be great if I could start the morning with a fresh phone. Thanks.

Yes, any non-sms messaging app for your phone would obviously use data (3G or EDGE connection) to communicate, and would need to be left on all the time to be able to receive incoming messages and notify you in real-time...so battery drain would be in direct proportion to that.
The best solution I've ever seen for that is Palringo, a free IM-integrator app that can connect you through most of the common IM networks (yahoo, AIM, Google talk, etc), or just direct through it's own (if I remember correctly)...meaning that as long as you and she both have the palringo client installed, you don't necessarily have to use any of those services to be able to IM each other. It's also free, and I seem to recall that it can be set (but isn't by default) to stay connected even when the phone goes to sleep, but don't quote me on that part.
It would be great if one of these programs had a "listening" service that would run in the background and then notify you of the "call" similar to an email.
I have seen a few online, (my research has just begun) that indicates "push notifications". Sound interesting, the data connection would remain active all the time that does not bother me.
I seem to have lost the setting to switch the "x" button from close to minimize. That would solve the issue with accidental closing the program. It would have to be managed via the task manager.. no biggy.. and then if I can find a soft reset scheduler it would keep the open programs from overwhelming the phone.

it's the other way around. default for winmo is minimize, there is
an htc bundled app called taskman. it's in settings - task manager which is making apps close when you click X
plenty of other apps can change that too
and then if I can find a soft reset scheduler it would keep the open programs from overwhelming the phone.
