How to change carrier on TP2 - Telus to Rogers. - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hey guys... here is a simple questions but I need your help.
Id like to buy from a friend a HTC touch pro2 with WM6.5 on it.. originally bought from Telus...
I am on Rogers...
When I put my SIM card in it... it says... SIM card isnt valid... Please insert a valid SIM Card.
Is there anything I need to do to fully unlocked this phone?
I tought that since Mighty Rom is running on it... it was fullly unlocked... but it doesnt seems to work..
Any help will be appreciated!
Regards,
Jeff

You need to get your phone sim unlocked to allow it to work on a different network. Telus can provide it or there are aftermarket ones you can use. Olinex has a sim unlocking service. You can find info on the first post of his HardSpl sticky in the rom section.
Once you have it sim unlocked it will work on Rogers but you will not get any 3g coverage as that phone has the wrong frequencies for the Rogers network.

.... 3g + with telus either
Hey InRBigness
thanks for your quick reply.
This phone isnt getting the 3g+ from telus either... I bought it before they launched the 3g+ network. So I guess its not a big difference right ?
thanks for your help and point of view about this
regards,

Will a Cingular BA PH20B work on Verizon's network?

I have searched and searched to find the answer but the forum is large.
I wish to change from Cingular to Verizon as a celluar network. I would like to know if I can go to Veriozon with the SIM (Cingular SIM.. not sure if this makes any difference as I am new to screwing around with my PDA) unlocked or if I need to do something else before I go into a Verizon store and purchase a SIM from them.
Cingular has very little coverage where I am and I really like my BA. I do not want to change to a different phone at this point. What are my options?
It won't work man
Ok... quick breakdown.... Cingular is a GSM network, so is T-Mobile and Various Others. GSM uses sim cards. Verison on the other hand, as well as sprint is a CDMA network and do not use sim cards. There is no device interpolerity between CDMA networks and GSM. So u can't take ur device with u from cingular to verizon, but u could move to t-mobile.
Thank you. I figured something like that since I never saw a reference to Verizon on here.

HTC Diamond from Telus in North America - 1st provider to offer it

As it seems, as of today, Telus.ca is offering the HTC Touch Diamond on their website as a North American exclusive offer... they are the 1st one in america to offer this phone, is this true?
I ordered mine today, and will receive it in a couple of days, i know telus doesn't use SIM cards, is there a way to unlock it? Elsewhere in the world, when the Diamond isn't a SIM phone, how does it work? Can you still install any program you want, install new roms, or do whatever you want with it?
I am perplex... i wonder if i will have all control on the phone...
Thanks!
That's nothing about unlock. You won't even be able to insert a sim card.
Which means the phone can only be used in Canada, with Telus.
You will be able to do new ROM updates and all the good stuff....
but you cant unlock it because sadly Telus is CDMA
(Thats why i moved to FIDO)
Ok... so basicly, i will be able to do whatever i want with the phone, beside switching carrier is that right? I won't be able to use it elsewhere than Telus because there is no SIM card?
If this is the only thing, and i don't really bother... as long as i am able to do what i want with the phone and applications i want to install.
If I understand all of what I have read, there are no chefs cooking a CDMA ROM as of yet. Just cross your fingers that one of the talented chefs get a CDMA version of the phone so you can get their great work! But of course, you can install all the apps you want on it. It just won't be "tweaked" to its fullest.
We need a Diamond CDMA thread. When Sprint gets the Diamond, there will be loads of CDMA roms.
sprint has Diamond already. And they are CDMA. I wonder if i can unlock a Telus diamon and use it on sprint.

No, CDMA you cannot unlock, because carrier info chip works different than GSM. You gotto change hardware (I think, chip). GSM is different because of a SIM card.
I've got a Telus Diamond, and I'm starting to work with the kitchen that the guys over at ppcgeeks made. Theres quite a bit about the CDMA Diamond over there too.

Diamond 3G works on IDEA, VODAFONE but not AIRTEL

hi friends.
i have diamond 2g india version. i also wanted to buy diamond 3g. a friend of mine is offering me diamond 3g which is security unlocked but am not sure if its sim unlocked. only vodafone and idea networks worked on it and not airtel. so i tried updating its radio to 1.11 and also its rom to swtos lite and now even vodafone and idea is not working on it.
that is no operator network works on it now. what do i do.? also i wanted to tell u that this model is the testing model which htc released to ppl who review the device before its launched. does it makes any difference?
also is it sure that it is sim locked and OLIPRO's sim unlocker will solve my problem?
?? help plzzzz!!
i am sorry . idk bout the 3g ... try with another 3g phone
Airtel's GSM Network frequency is different than that of Voda / Idea and BPL.
if ur device could work on voda and idea that means it is already unlocked. Just try and insert another sim and confirm that.
Also I would suggest Radio 1.08.25.20 which is quite stable.

I recently went to India and took my unlocked UK Diamond there and it worked on ALL three of those networks. I just left the network frequency/band on AUTO.

Help! - using UK Compact IV on At&T NY???

Hi
I've had a Compact IV/HTC Diamond for a good while now. Very familiar with flashing roms/radios etc, and looking for advice.
Wanted to use the phone with a AT&T sim whilst in NY,
Phone is fully unlocked and tested in UK, but when I put a PAYG AT&T sim in NY it just states that phone isnt ready and no network is found.
I suspect that this might be down to the RADIO ROM - looking for somone to point me in the right direction to a suitable radio if this is the case...
GSM is available in the area according to at&t website, so rules out the WCDMA (UK) vs CDMA2000 (US)...
Phone will now be mainly used in NY on AT&T if I can get it working with your help... (father in-law just moved out there with one of my diamonds!!)
Help? Thoughts? any help/comments appreciated
Thanks

sprint sim unlock?

Hey my brother jus gave me his touch pro 2 and I was wonderin if I needed the sim unlocked and if I do how do I unlock it. Thx in advance to anyone that can help
I am not sure that the CDMA versions of the TP2 have a SIM card slot, ill look around to verify this, but other wise you are stuck using it on Sprint's network by way of an ESN swap.

sprint tp2 is cdma and gsm so yea it has a sim slot. sprint locks the sim so that it only works with International sim cards. in order for it to be used on US gsm networks, you have to use the SIM unlocker.
thx for the help
