It seems that Videolan is searching for developpers, but i'm not able to, so i allow myself to join another thread in another forum, maybe someone could make something ??

Thanks.

Hi guys,
No one is interrested or I have posted in the wrong section ?
Thanks
Dob.
VLC has been trying for some time to get on Windows Mobile. It needs to happen. An open source video player would be one of the best additions to WM software.
he really miss a player for windows mobile.
TCPMP no longer fit for our machine can not handle hardware acceleration.
I find it really unfortunate that it was not 1 player worthy of Windows Mobile. same core player does not pay can handle certain codecs.
i fully agree with mancukya
the hardware is getting more advance but the software is playing catch-up
vlc is my fav on all platforms, i use it on my pc and my mac
to get it on my winmo phone would be a blessing (i dont want to pay for something like coreplayer which doesnt support that many types of codecs)
So there is no one who can help the Videolan's Team to port VLC on Windows Mobile ?
There is a VLC media player for winmo for a while now, but it is very bad and not really working. whats your problem with coreplayer?!
it's just that my provider offer us a service, that permit us to show the TV via videolan and it's doesn't work with coreplayer....

Sorry if this has been asked already, but none of my searches yielded any results, so here's my question:
Is there a way, and if so what's the easiest way, to put Windows Media Player 10 on my PDA2K?
I am also looking for methods to install WMP 10 in XDA IIs. can anyone please help getting it out from the magician, or some other pda with wmp 10. please help...
Right now, it isn't possible. WMP is deeply rooted in the operating system, and unless HTC issues an update, chances of getting it done are about nil.
Microsoft's way to make people regret buying their $650 powered product... and for investing twice that in a Media Center PC...
until now.. 2005 still no WM10? this is crap...

Seems the only potential way is to port Magician ROM over to XDA2 or XDA2s. Even that, it will be a long time coming. Hard to find someone with all the devices, and with deep understanding of the device drivers. I reckon that there quite a number that works only for Magician that will failed when used in XDA2/XDA2s.
Right you are, Magician has several different hardware components that will make this difficult, or in my opinion, impossible.
For one, Magician has a different Bluetooth hardware, and two, the device keys have different hardware (internal layouts at least). Anyways, HTC is actually very good in keeping current with ROM updates, I doubt we won't see WMP10, the only question is if it will be before WM2005 or not.
The only stumbling block to WM2005 on Blue Angel is the DIMCOMM (oops, sorry, Widcomm) hardware. It's up to if M$ will approve WM2005 devices that do not use their supported BT hardware (which would be every BT that isn't Widcomm-based).
Yes, Bluetooth in the device could prevent us from getting WMP10. But hey, that's Microsoft for you...
I don't really get it. I can't see why the player needs to be adapted to hardware. The pocket PC os has the sound drivers. Why cant they make a version 10 install thing?
Why do u all need that WMP10 ? Whats what u cant do w WMP9 ?
So Windows Media Player 10 is necessary for better DRM handling. There are several Video and Audio services that are not available with Series 9.
For instance, I buy all my music via Napster. Napster uses WMA format and even though Windows Media Player 9 supports WMA, I cannot play my DRM protected WMA without burning a CD and re-encoding it. I can actually play them from the XDA, but I can't play them from my 1gb sd card so it isn't very helpful. Also Windows Media Player 10 allows us to download from music rental services. Napster 2.0 or Napster to go costs 15 bucks a month and allows you to download about 1gb of music without paying 99 cents per song.
There are similar video drm schemes that demand windows media player 10 too. There are video rental sites that will allow you to download video and save them to your Windows Media Player 10 enabled device.
people download this stuff illegally those who choose to follow the law would really like to have Windows Media Player 10.
I see, this is A reason, i didnt think into this 'coz i never bought music from ms or apple. Now i understand ur side thanks ;-)
Hello People,
Any one know if there is an iTunes for WM yet if so WHERE
Nope. I don't think that will happen, ever.
There are other WM based audio managers, though. And there are a lot of PC based media center servers with a web interface, you can use them remotely from WM.
You might be interested in doubleTwist.
It claims to sync even your purchased songs to a lot of devices.
doubletwist
Interesting... Apple just had another update to itunes. anyone having some problems with doubletwist?
Mediamonkey is a great tool with a lot of features. one of the best: it's free (there's also a gold version which isn't free).
it will also recognize your WM-Based phone and you can easily sync songs.
If you're searching for an "iTunes" look-alike player on WM, search the forum for "Mortplayer" (with iMort skin), "S2P", "Melody" or "Lumen"
Cheers
Lumen is still alpha and doesn't play any music yet.
Hello people!
Are there any news on iTunes for WM-based PPC?
Missing the point...
I believe some of the repliers above are missing the point of the question. The real point behind this question is not whether there is a music organizer/sync app but if there is an app for downloading music straight to your phone just like iTunes does. Obviously since the user uses iTunes on his or her computer an iTunes app would be a great solution but ANY program that you could purchase and download music from would be absolutely great. In my opinion that is the one and only thing that still makes me want an iPhone even with all the love I have for my TP2.
So, if anyone knows of a decent app for purchasing and downloading music for a WM phone(similar to iTunes) that would be a great thing to suggest here.
Is this a stoopid question?
Is it possible to stream music/vids/pics from my pc to my htc excalibur?
If so could someone please inform me how this is achievable (step by step if possible as I am a bit of a spaz!)

The only way I'm aware of is using the SlingPlayer from www.slingmedia.com. There's a product called the Slingbox that can be hooked to your television or PC and will transmit streaming media to your mobile device. It's not free though.
thanks. was hoping for some sort of app such as vlc for the pc.
http://www.orb.com/
you can do it free with orb
There is a free addon to all versions of xp called media connect. It is also installed automatically with WM player 11 as well as vista. It will add UPnP support to your HOME network therefore you can stream software to things like your xbox 360, my nokia n800 tablet, or your dash with pocket player. UPnP is amazing on my n800 it should be just as good on the for pay pocket player. Media connect is totally free, and pocket player has a demo out.
I didn't like Orb very much, with my large collection it was kinda hard to find things. But it certainly works and also of course you can access it over the internet.
thanks to everyone. i got it sorted now thanks
Thanks everybody
I assume you mean to sync music?
Do you know how to use Windows Media Player? From this, you can synchronise playlists with devices, such as your handset.
No. I do not mean Window Media Player. I mean the HTC Music Player which it seem, appears only when TouchFlo is enabled.
OK so you mean to access that from within Windows Mobile, and not Windows on your desktop?
It would be more helpful if you could give us a little more detail in your questions.
i think he would open htc player without tf3d, for exemple using pontui 2.
is it possible?
yea i would love to know that too. I love the HTC music player, but found no way to open it while using pointui. =(
From comments I have seen on this website I don't think it seems possible - unfortunately I think (only think, I don't know for sure) it is tied into tf3d, which is a shame as it works well for me i.e. doesn't skip/jump as much as other players.
Does anyone know of any decent software I can use to play .nsv (H264 codec) streams on WP7? .
On Windows Mobile 6.x I used CorePlayer which worked perfectly. The look, feel and stability of WP7 is so much improved (took me a while to get used to though), It would be a shame if I have to keep swapping my chip over to the older phone to watch the footy while I'm on the move!
