Every time I try and click on the volume icon in the takbar (or anything in the task bar) of my device, theis stupid "notification" thing comes up and takes up the whole screen. I want to access the volume settings but can't (I know you can get the phone volume by clicking on up and down on the side) but you should be able to access the 2 types (system and phone) somewhere.
This didnt happen on my old windows mobiles so why this?
any help would be much appreciated as i have searched the forums manually and have found nothing.

The problem is, in this forum and in ppcgeeks, there is no clear cut answer. Truthfully, I dot really want to assign buttons, however, there are other options that are available for personalizing. Following this paragraph is my situation:
Phone: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2
ROM: Stock - Windows 6.1 & Manila 2.1
I have a few apps, but none that should have messed with these settings (MS My Phone, Resco File Explorer (has the ability, but I didn't change it through it), Resco Radio, Resco Picture Viewer Pro, a few games, Office Mobile 10 beta, etc... The rest are all stock, coming with the phone)
When I go into the button config here is the settings:
Send Key(Hold) - Voice Command
Button - <Context Menu>
Button - <Today>
Button - <Context Menu>
Button - <Context Menu>
Button - <Context Menu>
When I try to goto any other tab in the setting program, it tells me "Each program button must have a unique button assignment" and then goes back to the button assignment tab. When I try to exit, goto the today screen, or open any other program it does the same.
There are three possible ways of dealing with this:
1. Deleting these other button assignments - The problem here is I don't know what buttons these refer to and if deleted could pose problems.
2. Changing the names - Not really changing the names, I guess to me, it seems that the system is assigning five separate possible tasks to "Button." Again, not knowing what these buttons refer to, if changed, I could have to press volume up to hang up a call and press the power button to send a call.
3. Hard reset - I thought about this, but there are a few places where there have been cases of people trying this and it didn't do anything. I guess I would rather try alternatives before going through this drastic a measure.
If anyone has ideas on how to do any of these (save the hard reset, as I know that), I would be very much appreciative. Also, if any one has any other suggestions, besides those above, I would be more than happy to try them.
Thanks.
Edit:
Thought it prudent to add, most of these apps (save of course Office 10 beta) that I now have, I have had through three phones (Mogul, Touch Pro, touch pro 2). The first two never had any problems with these apps and as they are all HTC phones, I don't see why it would cause these kinds of problems in this phone and neither of it's predecessors.
Sorry.. haven't heard a reply, so Bump it up.
such an story,, such an answer..
the best way to assign app/programs to buttons is with this program!!

I was just about to post that link!
OP, whatever it is you're using to remap keys, drop it and use the linked keyboard controller. It's ridiculously good.
i finally upgraded to the tilt 2 after 2 years of having the tilt...i am not sure if i like it. i don't know if this is because i installed smartskey or not, but my volume up and down keys aren't working now. they were functioning as page up/page down while i had smartskey installed but i didn't like that because i can't find a simply way to adjust the volume. on my tilt with windows mobile 6 if i tap the loudspeaker icon on the taskbar the volume/vibrate settings appear with the scroll bar, but now when i tap it, it takes me to "notifications" which only shows me my connection, battery life, and messages. is there an easy way to access the volume? the only way i can seem to access the volume is through the settings in the touchflo 3d system which i don't really want to use. now that i have removed smartskey the volume buttons aren't doing anything. how do i fix this?
ive never used smartskey, but you may want to try asking in that thread for help. worse comes to worse all you have to do is hard reset and should have the volume buttons back.
on my tp2 i have the energy rom installed and set keyboardconfig to set the send key when held to go to a task manager the vol keys to scroll and hold to change volume but the send key just stopped working. it feels like im chacing problems round in circles with this phone where its one thing after another. i have advance config to have most things set to "recommended" re performance bu re the send key i disabled the kbdconfig and set "buttons" as none so theres no chance of a conflict but it just wont work. the best i got was sitting it for 5 mins without the battery in one time and it worked on a restart for a while. is there anything i have set wrong that im just not seeing?
im not getting to the bottom of this in fact the problem is worsening. menu and back key no longer do what theyre supposed to and they dont register in kbdconfig either. only the hangup button functions. i have tried memmaid in case it picked up a bad registry entry or something but nothing. Please help someone i am at a loss as to what else to try.
So I activated Universal Switch on S6 Edge to check it out, something went wrong in the settings (long story short, got a pop up while setting it up), now screen unresponsive.
It works, I just get this blue horizontal line scanning the screen and nothing else but the power button and home button works. Tried safe mode, no bueno. How can I disable US feature without resetting to factory or at least no data wipe (if possible!)?
Android 5.0, rooted with pingpong, no custom recovery, knox 0x0.
All help is appreciated.

Fixed!
The way I had fixed this is by holding down the power button, both up and down sound buttons, and the home button until it restarted. When the device turned back on it gave the option to turn the setting off. Hope it helped!

It doesn't give me the option to turn it off
Hi,
I have been struggling with Universal Switch on a Samsung S5 Neo. I switched it on, but was never able to switch it off again.
These are findings so far:
-> Did a factory reset using "Sound Up", "Home" and "Power" button simultaneous.
-> The device comes back and wants to configure itself again.
-> I restored my settings from Google, but this immediately brought back "Universal Switch"
-> Factory Reset again and configured the device, but told Google that I want to use it as a "New Device".
-> Now I can use my device in a proper way.
-> In Google Play Store I find all my Apps which were linked to my account and reinstalled them and I am back in business again.
-> Took me half a day to sort this out.
The programmer who designed and programmed this should be hung and shot and poisoned, because this is absolute Crapware.
Hope this helps for all the others who are suffering.
You can also push the home button three times and it should turn it off.
thank u ur the best
Ok, so i have exactly the same problem except my home button doesn't work
Anyone one know how to sort this without having to take it in to a store?
I was faced with this problem before and looked everywhere and couldnt find a fix. This was a while ago. So I dont remember what I did to clear it. I was cleaning off the screen and touched the home button as I was wiping it off and the problem began again.... I just came across your comment because all the others failed. I pressed the home button 3 times quickly and the blue lines stopped scrolling. In addition, I went over the accessibility and I turned off the "Universal Switch" option as much as the option allows. I hate this function. I do not use it or need it (for my needs). I hope I can remember what to do next time this happens. I swore to myself I would remember last time, but apparently that wasnt a guarantee. This time, I will write it down and put is somewhere I know I will find it next time I see these nefarious blue lines scrolling. Hopefully I wont see it again since I disabled it more than it was to begin with. Thank you ever so for commenting. You saved me a lot of frustration!
great fix

Hey Guys
after unlocking my Bootloader last Week, i cant find the setting to activate Dual-Window-Mode, i couldn't find a solution with the search function and google either.
When i first got the phone, it was just there sitting in the recent apps list, next to the "Clear All" button, and i was also able to add a shortcut for it to the navigation bar.
Has anyone else experienced this or does know how to get it back?
Would apreciate some help,
Greetings from Germany
Tom
That is strange. It should be there. I have a dual window button there and also as one of my permanent buttons at the bottom of the screen along with home, back and recent. To do that go to settings, display, home touch buttons and then button combination. You should be able to add a dual window button there. Doesn't answer your question but should help you use dual window.
Thanks for your help, but it just was not there
After flashing my older backup of the /system partition it decided to show up again, so everything is fine now
