How do I access Dual-Window? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys
after unlocking my Bootloader last Week, i cant find the setting to activate Dual-Window-Mode, i couldn't find a solution with the search function and google either.
When i first got the phone, it was just there sitting in the recent apps list, next to the "Clear All" button, and i was also able to add a shortcut for it to the navigation bar.
Has anyone else experienced this or does know how to get it back?
Would apreciate some help,
Greetings from Germany
Tom

That is strange. It should be there. I have a dual window button there and also as one of my permanent buttons at the bottom of the screen along with home, back and recent. To do that go to settings, display, home touch buttons and then button combination. You should be able to add a dual window button there. Doesn't answer your question but should help you use dual window.

Thanks for your help, but it just was not there
After flashing my older backup of the /system partition it decided to show up again, so everything is fine now

text entry options don't work with Touch HD (on Orange UK)

Hi all,
I apologise if this is not the right place to pose this question, but I just got a Touch HD on an Orange contract a couple of days ago, and I can't seem to be able to change the text entry method on my handset. It always stays as 'Phone Keypad', no matter which method I select, from the several methods listed: Block Recognizer, Compact QWERTY, Full QWERTY, Keyboard, etc. It's the same whether I try to make the selection by pressing the "OPTIONS" button on the phone keypad, or whether I go through Start->Settings->Input
All the software/hardware configuration on my handset is exactly as it was when I received it from Orange, so far I haven't even installed a single new program.
Any help? TIA
Hi.
Can't offer any advice as such, but can tell you that I got my HD from Orange just over a week ago, and I can change the keyboard without any problems.
I originally had a Touch Diamond, so I knew how I wanted it set up. I just brought up the menu from the keyboard at the bottom of the screen when it first popped up and did it from there.
Sorry I can't be any help, other than to tell you that you should be able to do it!
Good luck mate.
Hi,
I had the exact same problem but i wasnt too bothered but then I installed Gyrator and everything started to work.
Hi,
I had the exact same problem but i wasnt too bothered but then I installed HD Tweak and Gyrator and everything started to work. I have no idea how it worked though.
I got this phone yesterday, and I too was confused as to how I selected the different input method. Then I worked it out
It must be a bug with their firmware. You have to HOLD DOWN the centre button, keep your finger pressed and slide it up the screen to select the preferred input method. I think I did this when I was in the Compose SMS screen.
Since then, mine's stayed as I selected it - on Full QWERTY.
Hope this helps!

Same happened with mine. If you click on the options then you cant change it, however if you click on the box in the middle of the screen at the bottom, you can change them.. Bizarre!

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, guys. I've got it working for me too: by pressing the 4x4 grid-like icon at the bottom centre of the screen to bring up the keyboard, and then pressing the small upward-pointing arrowhead that brings up keyboard options. I guess that's what ultrazonixe probably means... although I couldn't get it work by sliding my finger upwards off the centre button as langauld suggested (except if incidently I did it from the arrowhead icon).
Thanks for the help!
Yes this is quite tricky till you get the idea.
Press the bottom middle button (icon of keypad) to get the keypad up, if its not already up.
Then the bottom icon changes and adds a small up arrow just to the right of the keypad icon. (nothing to do with the four arrows just below the keypad)
you have to press this small up arrow just to the right of the keypad icon and a menu pops labled "touch input settings".
its not the same one that comes up when you press the options tab which does not work.
Press the right choice eg full qwerty or whatever, and hey presto the keypad changes instantly.
same here
Yes I could change it .. via selecting the arrow next to the mini keyboard on the bottom ... but it used to reset it self every time I starsted the phone...
Now I have TouchPal.. I have never looked back.

problem with IE

Hi guys,
I was fooling around with my TP2 and started IE to see how it compared to Opera. I opened the menu and choose/ticked "full screen" to have a good comparising view to Opera. Problem now is I cannot find a way to leave the full screen anymore. Does someone know how to end the full screen mode in IE??
thanks in advance. Kuzibri
No one yet? I cannot believe that nobody has a solution for tis problem.
I think there is an option in the context menu (press and hold anywhere on the page). I can't check for sure because the new IE in WM6.5 doesn't have a non-fullscreen mode anymore, so of course there's no option.
Thanks Enisoc, that did the trick! I have tried everything to achieve this (double tapping, etc), but never thought of this simple solution!! Thnx again.
In IE: Menu, Settings, View, Mobile. This ability is one of the reasons I prefer the IE browser.
XATAGuy, the problem of the full screen mode in IE was that you could not get into menu cause it wasn't there. Only after tap and hold on the screen anywhere one could choose to "kill" the full screen mode and get back the menu option.

Menu area

I apologize if this is in the incorrect area, but I was able to put 2.1 eclair on my HTC Fuze with no problem and have been searching around trying to resolve an issue.
Basically I was trying to import contacts from the sim card and couldn't figure it out. On another forum they said I was to press the "menu" button and it would bring up a selection box to give some options to allow an import.
So I go to the phone and get to the contact page, but there is no way to pull up the "menu" as far as I can tell. I tried all the physical buttons and holding on many spots on the screen with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas or is this something I should be avoiding since this is so new?

The menu button is the HOME button on htc fuze just the little house sometimes u have to press it twice or trice because the capacitive drivers arent working properly
Apologies!
Right after I wrote the response I figured that out. Thanks for the quick reply.

Keyboard alternative to bottom options?

Hey everyone!
This may seem a tad bit of an odd question but follow me here. My touchscreen is currently just...dead. have an RMA in but in the meantime ive gotten pretty good at getting around just using the keyboard. Problem is I cant seem to find any way to select the two options at the bottom that i would normally just touch when a popup comes up. ive tried to hit enter and ok along with a ton of other keys but nothing seems to work. for example right now im on the carrier selection screen for NRG rom and cant obviously touch "next" to proceed. what really blows is when i see an option for "tap ok to continue" and just pressing the OK key doesnt work. Guess this is maybe a challenge in a way too. see if you can change settings, go through menus without touching the screen. Thanks all!

Try installing MyMobiler - freeware utility that will allow you to control your phone from your computer and it allows for the softkey press through menus. That's all I have for you, maybe someone else has a better solution
wow. strangly that was the one thing i had just found today..and was actually the only thing so far that has let me install some of these apps i need to try to help me do things..."better?".

[Q] Universal Switch enabled, screen unresponsive

So I activated Universal Switch on S6 Edge to check it out, something went wrong in the settings (long story short, got a pop up while setting it up), now screen unresponsive.
It works, I just get this blue horizontal line scanning the screen and nothing else but the power button and home button works. Tried safe mode, no bueno. How can I disable US feature without resetting to factory or at least no data wipe (if possible!)?
Android 5.0, rooted with pingpong, no custom recovery, knox 0x0.
All help is appreciated.
Same
[The exact same thing just happened to me someone please help
Fixed!
The way I had fixed this is by holding down the power button, both up and down sound buttons, and the home button until it restarted. When the device turned back on it gave the option to turn the setting off. Hope it helped!

how to turn off universal switch
hit home button 3 times
Thanks alot
It worked buddy
It doesn't give me the option to turn it off
Hi,
I have been struggling with Universal Switch on a Samsung S5 Neo. I switched it on, but was never able to switch it off again.
These are findings so far:
-> Did a factory reset using "Sound Up", "Home" and "Power" button simultaneous.
-> The device comes back and wants to configure itself again.
-> I restored my settings from Google, but this immediately brought back "Universal Switch"
-> Factory Reset again and configured the device, but told Google that I want to use it as a "New Device".
-> Now I can use my device in a proper way.
-> In Google Play Store I find all my Apps which were linked to my account and reinstalled them and I am back in business again.
-> Took me half a day to sort this out.
The programmer who designed and programmed this should be hung and shot and poisoned, because this is absolute Crapware.
Hope this helps for all the others who are suffering.
You can also push the home button three times and it should turn it off.
thank u ur the best
Ok, so i have exactly the same problem except my home button doesn't work
Anyone one know how to sort this without having to take it in to a store?
I was faced with this problem before and looked everywhere and couldnt find a fix. This was a while ago. So I dont remember what I did to clear it. I was cleaning off the screen and touched the home button as I was wiping it off and the problem began again.... I just came across your comment because all the others failed. I pressed the home button 3 times quickly and the blue lines stopped scrolling. In addition, I went over the accessibility and I turned off the "Universal Switch" option as much as the option allows. I hate this function. I do not use it or need it (for my needs). I hope I can remember what to do next time this happens. I swore to myself I would remember last time, but apparently that wasnt a guarantee. This time, I will write it down and put is somewhere I know I will find it next time I see these nefarious blue lines scrolling. Hopefully I wont see it again since I disabled it more than it was to begin with. Thank you ever so for commenting. You saved me a lot of frustration!
great fix
