Yes it is.
HTC Flashing program doesn't rely on any drivers which means it is independent from what ever OS you use. It solely relies on you being able to create a ACTIVESYNC connection. Which means as long as you can make an ActiveSync Connection then you will be fine.
In Windows 7 and Windows Vista, ActiveSync is renamed to Windows Mobile Device Center, which requires a download from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
If you are still worried you can do the other method of flashing which flashes the ROM/Radio from your device itself.

Windows 7 has a knack of downloading drivers for you, so just plug in your device and wait. Then if using MTTY follow the instructions in the thread for replacing the drivers and flashing.
Or you can just run the HTC ROM Upgrade utility and flash with the stock ROM first if it gets glichy

of course you have to run the flash tools as administrator (otherwise you get a connection error).

Or you can turn off the useless User Access Control (UAC).

what is in the phone part?

Hi
I just succeeded in flashing my austrian i780 with the UK version from the samsung site.
the updater finished flashing the boot and the pda part but said he was not able to flash the phone part... (I think because of vista x64 I use)
but thats not the problem actually cause the phone booted up normaly and I also could connect to my service provider (orange austria)
but now I think maybe I should use my XP latop with xp modem drivers to flash also the phone part...
my question is: should I do that? could it be that after flashing the phone part I can't use my austrian connection?
what data is in the phone part?
i'm happy that flashing to WM6.1 (pda part) worked so well and is now running fine so I dont want to risk my phone...
my versions are now:
PDA: i780PBVHK1
phone: i780CUHK2 (nothing was changed here - so its the original vers)

that's the right way (install before the modem drivers and activesync and let recognize your device from your pc)

hi brother no hard feeling but experts here in Xda-dev have overcame that problem.... see the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313001
and most importantly you should choose correct driver depending if you are using 32 bit or 64 bit version
and @ yuvraj just try using the proper driver and try
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Universal
and let me know.... and i"m flashing with vista with no problem at alll
Cheers

problems and questions with unlocking bootloader

Will this void my warranty even if the HTC developer site supports it and if it does is there a way to lock it? I also have problems while getting the codes I must send to HTC it just gets stuck on Waiting for device... Can anyone help me

Hi
This may help you answer your first question
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709782
To your second question:
No. If you unlock the bootloader you can never go back to
the same "Locked" state as before. So looking at the bootloader
it is always visible that the bootloader has been unlocked once.
And the third one:
Is your device listed when youn run
fastboot devices
If not - recheck your USB connection (e.g. Drivers)
More tips are found here

My first try also failed on Win7 so I went back to my old PC with Vista where it worked

"HTC Sync for all HTC Android phones", driver comes with Sync. Just make sure to disable the actual software after your install, it's kinda annoying and largely useless.

Oh ok. After reading about rooting our phone, Im confused about the whole "kies" thing. There is a stock "kies" app that came installed with my phone. So does that mean I have to go through that whole driver issue? Can someone explain this process a little further if so?
Your probably thinking of Samsung Kies for the computer. Windows version does not matter.
You do not need Kies if your going to root just download and install the ones they tell you in the post your reading.

Just install HTC Sync (http://www.htc.com/de/support/content.aspx?id=6223) and you should have all drivers you need.
