problems and questions with unlocking bootloader - HTC One V

Will this void my warranty even if the HTC developer site supports it and if it does is there a way to lock it? I also have problems while getting the codes I must send to HTC it just gets stuck on Waiting for device... Can anyone help me

Hi
This may help you answer your first question
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709782
To your second question:
No. If you unlock the bootloader you can never go back to
the same "Locked" state as before. So looking at the bootloader
it is always visible that the bootloader has been unlocked once.
And the third one:
Is your device listed when youn run
fastboot devices
If not - recheck your USB connection (e.g. Drivers)
More tips are found here

My first try also failed on Win7 so I went back to my old PC with Vista where it worked

"HTC Sync for all HTC Android phones", driver comes with Sync. Just make sure to disable the actual software after your install, it's kinda annoying and largely useless.

thanks! i managed to get it working. i am now rooted. One more issue... i dont seem to have service anymore???
i havent installed any roms or anything

I would try a reboot... remove sim... settings and search for networks. Other than that just flash a new rom.. Mine worked fine after root....but I guess it depends on the network.

It would really help if you gave some details:
OS
what have you tried
what happened.
If you're on windows Vista or later and can't get the device recognised - that's a common problem, install pdanet, that will pull all the drivers in, and try again.
Otherwise, more details.

did you install htc sync for the drivers, and go to the bootloader and wait for windows to detect it?
Hi, I did the whole thing again and it seemed to work this time thanks

If you have been rooting for a while then you know that this question belongs in the Q&A's and not the Dev Section.

[Q] Uhh... How do you root 4.2??

I just got this phone and the guy who had it accepted the OTA to 4.2 It's the sprint variant. I've skimmed a few threads and checked out the toolkit but it only seems to go to 4.1.2
Any help??

Efrants guide is stickied in the general nexus thread. Will tell you everything you need to know
Alright maybe we can help with this lol
I have the drivers installed, It says Samsung ADB device or whatever in device manager.
I have usb debugging enabled.
I hold the up and down button and power
Should it say "fastboot usb" or just fastboot, On my evo it said fastboot usb when connected.
I have the galaxynexusroot package from the asian guy which simply contains fastboot.
I open command window where it's at.
And type "fastboot oem unlock"
And it just says waiting for device. I'm certain the drivers are there.
What's my problem?
If boss don Efrant's guide can't get you there then try Google or use the search bar in xda.
I believe in you little buddy

I've utilized all 3, Now after installing the drivers from PDAnet which we're suggested by Efrant it just says Android 1.0 under device manager and I can't seem to update it.
And still no luck the unlocking. obviously due to the drivers.
I have the Samsung ADB interface installed. Do I need another driver? It seems I do, But I can't get anything to stick when I go into Fastboot.

I am stock...
I want to unlock/root.
You can flash whatever rom you want after doing this.
Not sure if substituting the rom you want instead of the stock image will work. Try it and find out.

We seem to be miscommunicating.
I have a new Galaxy Nexus from Sprint updated to 4.2.1
I'm trying to get the drivers installed properly to be able to unlock the bootloader.
I'm in no shape to be flashing any rom I want, Without the drivers installed first.
From efrant's guide, which seems to apply in all situations: "Note that the driver has to install twice: once when your device is booted normally (not required for this tutorial) with USB Debugging enabled in Settings, and once when your device is booted in fastboot (i.e., bootloader) mode (which is required for this tutorial). "

I've done this, But it still just shows "Android 1.0" with an exclamation mark while in fastboot.
I've uninstalled everything and I'm about to try again and see if something goes right this time.
Uhh, the guide suggests using universal naked drivers, not pdanet.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20058157&postcount=1

I'm trying to install the Universal Naked drivers right now, Window's find it but gives an error, It actually showed bootloader drivers too
It's saying
windows found driver software for your device but encoutered an error while attempting to install it.
google galaxy nexus bootloader interface.
the hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. the file is likely corrupt of the victim of tampering.
if you know the manufacter of your device, you can visit its website and check support section for driver software.
So.... What now.
Are you on windows 8? There are links to full write ups on the drivers in efrant's guide, pertaining to many different situations. With all the driver issues i've heard of, i'm glad to not need any!

Yeah I am on Win8 Which is bull****.
I'm not as new to this game as it may seem, And it barely makes any sense.
I've rooted many many HTC phones in my time.
I'm tempted to install windows 7 just to get this taken care of. But that's soooo much of a hassle.
Hope you found this and it does the trick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33463359&postcount=109
I'm now typing this message from Windows 7.
I'm willing to endure the hassle to get this beautiful device off from the stock rom
And I had already done that last thing you posted before anything else as soon as I realized that the drivers wouldn't even open to install
FINALLY got it thanks to Windows 7.

This may seem like an obvious idea, but are you making sure your actual phone is in fastboot mode? (Step 10 under unlocking your bootloader in the tutorial linked above.) Usually when I get this it's because I forgot to do that, assuming everything is connected.
Do you have windows 8?

[Q] WotanServer destroyed my bootloader

Hello,
I have a Sony Xperia Arc S, manufactured on the 12W07, with Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No.
After almost two years with the phone and having jjdoctor's Hybrid Rom installed, phone rooted and CWM via XParts, I decided I wanted to give it a go on Jelly Bean roms.
In order to do this, I knew I had to unlock the bootloader, and after my carrier failed to reply to my e-mails and contacts, I tried to do it via WotanServer. Now, I know XDA isn't WotanServer's support forum (they don't seem to have one), but I'm hoping more of you had the same problem and can assist me in its resolution.
I registered on the site, paid the 7.99€ it's asking right now to SIM/Bootloader unlock and attempted the process on my Windows 8, x64 laptop with PC Companion and flashboot installed (I think this is important for you). I'll try to break down my questions now, so that it's easier for you to answer.
1 - When installing the X Unlock Tool 1.6.0., I noticed that it failed installing two drivers (see attached image). It only installed one of them. Is it normal?
2 - I thought this was ok and continued. I opened the program, selected my phone model, logged in and a youtube video prompted. I performed as asked, used a paper clip to make the test point stuff and my computer installed some QualComm driver (see attached image). The X Unlock Tool just stood there, frozen. What was it supposed to do?
3 - I tried some more times to perform the test point method, with no luck. The program just stucks and doesn't progress from the youtube video.
4 - "I'm going back to Xperia Ultimate HD and leave jjdoctor's rom for a while". Yeah, right. As I tried to "Reboot to Recovery" on XParts (and other SW I've tried now, like ROM Manager and ROM Toolkit), the phone reboots, stays just a tiny fraction of a microsecond on CWM and then reboots normally. I've tried all key combinations, with no luck. Maybe I killed something in my bootloader?
5 - I've already sent 3 e-mails to WotanServer, two asking for support and the last one asking for a refund. Since I can't use the SW, I want my money back. It's only 8€, but it's still my money. It's been a week now, and nobody replied. Is it normal?
If someone can help or just share a similar story for us to find a solution, I'd be happy.
Thanks.
P.S.: I am now stuck on the STOCK ICS ROM I placed on my phone via flashboot I think I'm going to try to go back to stock GB, as this is way too slow...
I don't want to contact you on gtalk, I want a solution to be publicly available here and, if you may, concrete answers to my questions.
If the driver installation failed, you will not be able to do it correctly. Do please ensure that drivers have been installed correctly.

You need to enable unsigned driver support in Windows 8 then reinstall the software.
Google Windows 8 driver testsigning

Ok, I have now been able to install the drivers correctly thanks to devstaff.
However, the unlocking process keeps stopping on the "youtube video" section. It installs the Qualcomm device and just stays that way for a while (I now hold the world record in staying in the same position holding a paper clip fixed to two points).

You have to remove the paperclip once the device is detected
Sent from my MT11i using xda app-developers app
Just did that, waited for the "Qualcomm" thing to install, removed the paper clip, kept the cable pluged, and nothing happened. I am going to try this on Windows 7.
What puzzles me the most is that the program just doesn't go anywhere. I've youtubed other videos and it's almost instant: you do the test point, it installs the driver and the program goes into the unlocking phase. Mine? It just stays there, staring back at me with the "Next" button disabled.
Try with win7 and post... Wether it worked or not
Windows 7 did the trick. Thanks everyone for your support. It now shows as sim unlocked and bootloader unlock allowed yes. Do I still have to put the codes from Sony or is it all done?
You still need the code from Sony, follow the instructions on the website.

No, you don't. Wotanserver removes both simlock and unlocks the bootloader for you also.

Hmm I disabled it on Windows 8 and successfully installed the drivers, but I just couldn't get it to work. On Windows 7 I did it on my first try. Oh well, no harm done. I'll report to the people at WotanServer. They never replied, but I'll provide my feedback and link them to this thread (and I'll keep the shocking title :laugh.
Before I saw your reply I tried to perform the steps to unlock the bootloader via fastboot and Sony codes, but at the cmd I got a message stating that the bootloader was already unlocked.
I'm now enjoying Jelly Bean on my Arc S.
