Hi,
Does anybody know whether it's possible to put a lnk to device lock using the HTC TrayApplet so it appears in the taskbar.
After upgrading to T-Mob WM6 on the Hermes, and poking about in the registry it only seems that you can only link to .exe files using the HTC TrayApplet (device lock does'nt appear to have a visible .exe file?? to link too)
(HKLM/Software/HTC/TrayApplet)

Egoist6,
Did you use the HTC Trayapplet with Vijays devicelock program or did you just map vijays devicelock program to hardware button.
I attempted creating a registry link to Vijays Devicelock program using HTC Trayapplet, but I could'nt get the link to work?
Anyway I have mapped vijays devicelock program to the Hardware [record] button which works well. So now it's just one buton-click to lock & power off, as well as freeing up one row in the Today Screen.

i do not use the htc home screen. i use vjdevicelock in combination with an icon on my "iphone-skin launcher".
it works perfect although it is quite annoying to press three buttons to unlock the device...
One button to both lock and switch off then... one button (fixed) to switch on, followed by two screen taps to unlock.
hmmmm ... it might be posssible to try and reduce the 3 actions required to unlock. Maybe a script (mort Script or Skchema) could be used which runs on device wakeup (via notifcation queue)which checks to see if the device is locked or unlocked and then either unlocks the device by emulating screen taps or by doing nothing, since its already unlocked?
I might look into this?
Cheers

that should do it:

can't try it now as i am @work.

and use the VJDevicePowerOff App. it locks the device and poweroff at the same time.

I have done a bit more digging in the registry.
HKLM\Security\Phone\L with dword = 2 for lock ON and dword = 0 for lock OFF.
Instantly changing the value for string associated to L fom 0 to 2 and then saving the value in the registry will cause the phone to instantly lock.
So this will come in useful for checking to see if the phone is locked or not.
Also knowing that this registry key controls the device lock and unlock function of the phone means it should be possible if required to set a script to do automatic locking simply by changing the registry key from 2 or 0!

probably armstrong's device lock worls that way.
try it - it gives you what you need.
i have replaced vjdevicelock with armstrong's devicelock

Apparently not. I've tested it and while that key may report on a phones lock status it does not effect it (on a HTC Dual Touch, WM6). Which is a shame because such a simple API for turning key locking on and off would be wonderful to have.
Hello everyone
After trying all the phone lock software out there I still can’t find what I’m looking for, what I’m looking for is so simple an icon in the start menu to lock the phone then r2u or t2u & unlock when phone rings and that’s it. I don’t like the idea of having to press the power button to wake up the screen to be able to unlock the device I’m also not interested in all of the other features that most of the phone lock’s have. Can someone help?
I have tried sensor lock I did like it a lot but I was unable to configure it and you could tell it was running in the background as the screen would jump. Plus throw in my case and a few beers and I know I’m going to drop it.
Many Thanks Jez
A list of phone lock programs you will need to search for them as some of the links aren’t applicable any more and I did need not save the ones that are working
Throttle lock
S2u2
Sunscape
Touchlock pro
Phone buddy
M lock
Organic lock
Pocket shield
Sensor lock
Lock me tight
Stylus lock
try Auto Lock (CSDEVCTRL), you could slide to the right on the screen to unlock the phone or use the windows default unlock.
Hello gbjack
Just tried that app and it’s just to much setting up and I don't think it’s going to do what I want it to do. Just hope someone is willing to write a program going by all the forums I have searched it will be popular
Cheer’s for the reply and suggestion
I tried many lock apps as well, but in the end the standard windows lock is what im using. No hassle, and it simply works as intended. I just press the "hangup" virtual button, and after the second vibration feedback i can be sure that the phone is locked. Doesn't get any simpler than that.
Then you have to try " WWE-Chobit Company SmartLock 1.7B". Only four or five options but it cannot lock your hardware key during call.

Just tried that app and it’s not even showing in programs for me to set it up, so I will have to keep looking, it amazes me that no one has written a program like I’m after considering it’s so simple.

This is good specialy the turn on bluetooth on call feature, but when we have an income call, the app takes ages to know what to do and the phone only begins to ring 5 secs after. Lockmelite it's the best one around but has a problem with alarms going to background after unlock. The "almost perfect" one is s2u but huge memory consuption makes background app's close or restart.
Hello jpl69
Tried this app found it to involved to setup and still does not do what I am looking for which is tap the screen to wake up so I than can unlock the phone using a s2u app. I find it bizarre that there are many apps to unlock the phone but you still have to push the power button to operate them. Surely it can’t take much program writing to add this feature. Jez
We have to push an hardware ley to wake up our devices from a low battery consuption state (suspend mode) and unfortunaly only have the power and volume hard keys so if you want to wake up your device with a tap on screen you'll only have a couple of hours with a full charge.
Now it makes sense why the screen sleeps if the battery only last for a couple of hours. Just a shame that the power button is so fiddly to operate. Jez
Yes, and it makes no sense having an device lock app (except on incoming calls). I only use it because of my 2 year old son that found the little tiny power on key , and made a couple of phone calls.
P.S. with a registry tweak you can enable the volume keys to wake up your device.
May be this could be your appropriate application:

That is brilliant and can be found here.
Simple and effective (needs a reboot after install, and is found under settings.
Just to be helpful... here's the brilliantly useful Reg tweak to allow wake-up from the volume keys.
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
- set key: defaultkeylock from 1 to 0
- softreset
LockMeLite is definitely my favourite (especially with the above tweak), but as mentioned already, the alarm snooze / disappearing to background problem is a constant frustration.
Hello flid
Sorry for the delay everyone just got back from Canada so been busy catching up and sleeping. So how do I go about tweaking the reg key? I know how navigate to the reg key on a computer but not on my mobile
I changed my left soft key to lock the phone on the Home start screen as it was doing nothing useful except jumping to a phone operators website:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\HomeLSKPath = windows\Endkey.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\HomeLSKText = Lock (or whether text you want).
You just need a windows mobile registry editor. There are several free ones. My current Dutty ROM has one inbuilt, but from what I can gather the popular options are Total Commander (free!), Schap's Registry (free), PHM RegEdit (which is built in to Dutty's ROM) and Resco Registry Editor (not free - but definitely the most finger friendly). There may well be others.
I'm going mad here trying to find a screen Lock suitable to my needs. Can anyone please help? I want a simple screen lock, nothing fancy, no bells'n'whistles, but with the following two essential features.
1) Screen Lock is quickly unlocked with a simple screen swipe as soon as I either power on or slide open the device (ideally slide-opening would automatically unlock without requiring a swipe).
2) When running on external power the screen should unlock automatically and remain unlocked.
I've now auditioned PocketShield, Sunscape, TouchLockPro and S2U2 all of which may have one or other of those features, but none have both.
Can anyone please recommend anything else? Thank you.
1) In Pocketshield you can auto unlock by sliding QWERTY out if you create the following reg key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Pocketshield\ROTATE=1 (DWORD)
2) There is an option for it in settings.
Thanks for that. I've decided to give PocketShield another go and am auditioning it at the moment. Also I've changed my UI from Winterface to Spb Mobile Shell 3.5 because I wondered whether Winterface wasn't working well with PocketShield.
But here's my issue with PocketShield, perhaps somebody can please help?
If I open the slide keyboard I am able for a second or two to use the device as if it were not locked, before PocketShield "remembers" that is supposed to be on and then suddenly the device gets upset, slow, stuck, until I can find and unlock pocketShield. If I first power on and then slide open the keyboard, everything is fine, but everything stays in portrait, even though the keyboard is open. I can unlock PocketShield properly (though sideways) but then everything else is displayed in portrait, even though the keyboard is open.
I tried the reg tweak suggested, but found that that just caused even more confusion; portrait trying to change the landscape at the same time as the UI was trying to appear, at the same time as PocketShield was trying to put up its lock screen, basically chaos!
Any thoughts anyone, please?
My S2U2 v 2.42, has both of those options. Just go to Settings>Others
1. Action when connect to power>Unlock
2. Unlock when Keyboard is opened>On
Thanks. I've been trying out PocketShield all day and it seems that in its simplest terms there is a delay between switching on the unit and PocketShield realising it should be locking the screen, during which time it is possible to start an action which is then instantly stopped when PocketShield kicks in. Ridiculous.
I'll give S2U2 another shot now, cheers.
Smart unlock, its in the software worth installing section, does exactly what you want
I'm getting very frustrated here and beginning to think that my problem is nothing to do with one screen lock program or another, but with my unit.
Whichever screen lock I install, roughly 60% of the time the lock works as it should, but about 40% of the time there is a short period between powering on and the screen lock preventing me from doing anything. During this time it's possible to use the unit normally for a second or two until the screen lock kicks in, at which point often the unit gets confused, actions jam, and I often end up having to soft reset.
With all of the locks I've tried, if I open the keyboard and THEN power on, this also causes confusion.
Can anybody possibly shed any light on all this, please?
Could be that one of your installed applications is subscribed to the power on event and performs a very intensive processing each time device is turned on, delaying other subscriber apps such as lock screens. You might want to try uninstalling one by one to see if any culprit. Last resource is hard reset.
Thanks Pckshd. To be honest I've just had a rough day with the phone: it froze last night and on soft reset wouldn't boot up. This morning was the same story so eventually I was forced to do a hard reset. Then my most recent backup wouldn't restore, claiming there wasn't enough memory in the phone (how can that be? It was backed up from the phone!). Eventually I had to rebuild everything and right now haven't dared install any of the screen lock programs!
Is there not a registry entry anywhere that would show me which programs are taking priority over power on? My UI of choice, Winterface, as its own screen Lock, which is almost 100% reliable but regrettably continues to run went on mains power (I want one that unlocks on mains power, the desired feature that started all this off in the first place).
My phone was in my pocket, a reminder went off, I left it, thinking I would just let the phone go back to sleep and dismiss the reminder later.
When I got out my phone, the sliding lock screen was gone, and now when I lock the phone by holding the end call button, the Old WM unlock appears as a soft key in the bottom right corner. After pressing it you get the gray screen asking if you want to unlock.
How do I get the Sliding Unlock Screen back?!
been trying to get it back for hours now....
(phone has stock Tilt2 Rom)
no one sure what happened...
Ditto!
This happened to me today! Cannot seem to change it back to the slide lock. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Please help!
I installed HD mini lock. Not bad...

I ended up doing a Hard eset to get it back...cause no one responded...annoying but it works.
I then installed the trial version or PocketShield...and it happened again...but pocketshield is working great to keep away accidental pressing of stuff in my pocket.
I tried Pocketshield, but just kept getting error messages. I want the end call button to turn on a slide lock... and I'd prefer to not do a hard reset...

try anista endkey:
http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709124
or else smabergs action screen, which give a similar set of options to anistas end key only you access it by holding down the power button. Both of these should lock with your default lock application.
If you're looking for an alternative program to the default, try s2u. you can find a link in the continuoulsly updated apps worth installing on the tp2 thread.
Edit: OK, smabergs action screen doesn't have a lock option on it... but whatever it was based on did. There is a link to that application in the smabergs thread, i think.
I know the OP has hard reset his phone to fix the issue, but just in case anyone else is having this problem, the following reg key is probably to blame:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\Enable
Default Value: 1 (for Sliding lock screen)
Changed Value: 0 (for soft key lock a la wm6.1)
I found this because I actually WANTED to disable the default WM6.5 lockscreen as I prefer the soft key unlock, partly because of the memory the sliding lock uses, and also because I want to be able to see the gorgeous sense 2.5 interface when I turn my phone on to see the time
There's also a "ShowLockScreenPicker" value on my phone that is set to 0, not entirely sure what that does though.
Bit late I know, sorry! :/

Tried this & I still haven't gotten my slide to unlock back, any other possible solutions? Besides a hard rest that is.
It is related to pocketshield, everytime I install an update I have to go into the system lock settings display tab and switch it from windows classic to default.
I recently installed the aforementioned cab file and lost the stock slide to unlock on my Touch pro 2. I havent done any big changes. I use the stock HTC Sense and stock wm6.5 rom. I tried uninstalling the cab but it didnt revert back. any ideas?
You may have to hard reset
I was thinking about that... I just got everything setup the way I like it too.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it came back but only if i set a pin code lock but as soon as i slid to unlock and typed in my pin code the slide to unlock never showed up again until the pin code timed out and required me to enter again.
Nevermind. I figured it out. I used Tarkims Rhodium KBD control and was able to remap it to get back my lock when i turned the screen off.
