I can't seem to log into the wiki page to edit. Is the wiki restricted? I'd really like to contribute, if I can. Thanks in advance either way.
It should be OK, both accounts are linked.
Try logging out of xda, clearing cookies and logging back in.

Still no go
Sorry. Still a no-go. I notice too, that I'm being logged out of my account very aggressively. If I leave a xda forum page up for even just a few minutes, my account is logged out when I refresh the page/ click a link/ attempt a download.
Could someone assist?

you may find this thread of some use.
open sesame
i just attempted to access my live.com email account and was greated with this msg...it may or may not be related...
"We're doing some maintenance to improve the service. We apologize for getting in your way. Please try again in a few minutes. If it's been more than an hour, tell us you're still waiting."
thx again, but i didnt even get that message,it just said that it synced and i had no new emails, hopefully it is a fix that microsoft is working on. thx again
check your account settings. Sometimes the password is not saved or some setting is not what it should be. I encountered the same issue with yahoo. Am not familiar at all with account settings so it was easier for me to delete the account and create it again. Upon creation I had not issues.
I need the appropriate admin to contact me on this one...
My password has changed without me changing it 4-5 times over the last 24 hours. I send the reset to my email, change it to something new, and it changes to something unknown to me an hour or so later. What is going on???

Why do you think your password keeps changing?
When you log in, try clicking "Remember me" - this will reset the login cookie and may fix the issue you are having.

No when I refresh it seems to time out which it has not before. When I log in using my prior password, it says it's wrong.
What times out? The page load?

Nothing times out, it just says my password is wrong after refreshing after a few minutes. Have to go through the whole reset password crap
This has gotten to the point where I need to bring it up, apparently.
What the heck is going on with the constant partial log-in situation?
I.E. everytime I refresh the page or navigate to a new one I may or may not be logged in.
It gets quite obnoxious, especially on mobile, when you're looking for a thread you've viewed/read/posted-in/whatever and you're logged out...refresh refresh refresh...logged in. Find one thread. Logged out once you click. Back to another forum to find another thread...logged in, and then back out.
This has been going on on all 4 of my Android devices, my PC (chrome/firefox) etc for a few months now.
Yes, it's surely an issue
But clicking on any user's profile logs me in again, so, whenever I come to XDA, I usually come to my Device's Forum and find myself logged out, I click on first user profile I see, of moderator efrant
But yes, it's pretty annoying but I think it should be in Requests/Recommendations threads.

The 2 things that you'll need to check to remain logged in is to:
1) Ensure cookies are enabled. Depending on your browser, you could have a setting such as "Clear cookies when closing browser" and if that is the case you would be logged out all the time. If running Chrome, this setting would be effective across multiple devices.
2) Check the "Remember me" box when logging in. If you check this, XDA will set a cookie which will keep you logged in.
One other thing to remember. If you view a page one and your browser caches it, if you navigate back to it you could get the old page locally which will show you as logged out. When you hit "Refresh" this then hits the server again which will show you as logged in.
If you are browsing somewhere where there is a proxy (either on your local machine or on your network) this could also be caching pages which could show you as logged out when you are really logged in.

None of the above apply for me unfortunately.
Cookies enabled, and again, this is multiple devices/browers/OS's.

This is very hard to troubleshoot as I'm not experiencing this problem. How familiar are you with inspecting headers and that sort of thing?
Since few days now, each time I come back to the forum homepage I've to login and, even if I thick the "remember me" flag, it's of no use. I didn't change anything in the browser's settings for cookies etc., in fact I've no such problem in other forums.
Any idea?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Italiano: Prova a cancellare i cookie e gli altri dati di navigazione e poi riprova... io questo problema non l'ho mai avuto...
English:
Try to delete your cookies. I never had this problem.
Take a look at my Icon Pack. Click here!
...Grazie, thank you, it worked.
This happens sometimes if your cookies aren't working or are somehow corrupted - clean them out and click "Remember me" and you should be golden.
I have been having the same issue the past few days, happened right after I had to clear chrome cache, cookies etc due to issues with another site.
When I click the XDA forums bookmark in bookmark bar I have to login every time even with remember me ticked, once logged in I then have to click compact view & sometimes that logs me back out & wont stick as preferred forums view.
Have also noticed that when I do login & then open another tab & click XDA forums link again it asks me to login again, can do this several times before it seems to realise that I'm already logged in.
Have also tried clearing cache & cookies again & unticking & then reticking the remember me box.
It's really starting to annoy me as before it started I was always logged in.

...ooops, back in trouble again as happens to BanziBaby...
Please help!!!
This happens to me sometimes, when the main forum page is opened, however if I open any section of the forum, it shows me as logged in.
...same for me Someguyfromhell, it started about two weeks ago...
When the site shows you as logged out when you are supposed to be logged in, if you click 'refresh' does it still show you as logged out?
I'm wondering if something like this happens:
Visit page -> browser caches logged out page -> log in and browse site -> happen to return to that old page -> browser shows old cached page which shows you as logged out.
We should be able to prove/disprove that when you refresh the page again because if you are actually logged in the act of clicking 'refresh' should request a new page from the server.
This will let me know if it is a client-side issue or something with server/web configuration.

Yes.
- and
-- As soon as I click on any room then it recognize me as logged-in.
--- now if I click back on my favorites shortcut it randomly keeps me logged-in and sometimes not
---- while if I click on the forum home-page icon it recognize me as logged-in always [edit] most of the times
...hope it helps.
This is driving me crazy, I have my XDA account "Jerber" (this account) with my avatar and everything; is the account that I use everyday for comment arround XDA sections.
On the other hand I have a Disqus account that I use for comment in diferent websites, It has nothing to do with my XDA account.
And finally (here come the mess), when I go to the main XDA Developers website (to news like this https://www.xda-developers.com/lg-g6-camera-app-ported-to-the-lg-g5/) there is a opened profile called "Jerber" with my old avatar ready for do comments and seems that it works like a Disqus account... as you can see I did a coment and it shows that was made with that "Jerber" profile...
If I go inside of that profile ( https://disqus.com/by/xda-9a10d25154dc708d237da4dd6ed0b153/? ) it looks/works like Disqus, but when I want to edit the account it sends me to my Disqus account...
For that reason I am not able to edit the avatar or go inside of that "profile" to try to understand how it works...or at least edit it
Any idea for help me?
The profile is there, opened in the XDA new section, I can use it, logout and login (With XDA login), comment, edit and delete but that is all, if I want to do some changes the profile sends me to other place...
Bumping this oldie. I have the same issue. Disqus is bonded to XDA and there is no way to leave reactions on XDA articles without an XDA account. There is no way of logging in to disqus with an xda profile, it just makes a new account with the same XDA email/google account, thus having 2 seperate accounts with the "same" login information, but different profile urls.
I have to agree. Doing it this way can break notifications completely when the user name is the same for xda as well as disqus
Bumping this thread. Just discovered that in order to comment with my regular Disqus account in the XDA Disqus comment section, I first have to log out of XDA and be logged in to Disqus! This is a pointless complication! Please get rid of it or make it optional XDA.
I've been trying to fix this crap for ages, have gotten nowhere.
Seems that Im going to be stick to that account forever -_-
Same issue here. I created an account on Disqus using my same username for Pocketnow recently acquired by XDA, but the accounts aren't merged. Nor does there seem to be a way to merge them. I tried looking in Disqus' help pages, but there's nothing about merging accounts for common users! It's all about adding Disqus to your site. If no way is found soon, I'm deleting my Disqus account.
It seems to me that the Disqus plugin works separate from the actual Disqus site itself. Weird. While it's good that they're not collecting data that you didn't give them, they should allow a synchronization method.
Same problem here and it's driving me nuts! Just let me have my notifications!
Bump*
here we bump again.
i have pretty much the same problem. when I enter to disqus.com it just jump in my unmanageable profile.
if anybody has the same problem, I hope we can get rid of this.

There is a long explanation for this. When Disqus originally allowed Single Sign On we had a paid plan to allow this. Disqus then switched all of these paid plans to a free plan. We always had issues with it, for example if you update your avatar, there is no way to notify Disqus about the new avatar. Now, Disqus only allows single sign on for their "Enterprise" accounts, which is very expensive. We are sort of stuck in no-mans land, where is it enabled on our account but with no support.
My hope is to eventually integrate portal comments with forum membership. That way, accounts or unified.
Wish I had a better explanation or fix for you!

wow, I didnt expect a so fast reply on this old thread.
is there any way to do anything with these account?
can I make it work? like update the password and so on...
And Disqus auto login on site-generated accounts is broken again.
It's been almost 2 weeks nomatter what I do, delete cookies, relog, anything, I won't get signed in with the automatically generated account from this site.
I hoped this issue would resolve in some days, like it happened in the past, but nope.
EDIT: By going to my email, finding the specific xda code generated and requesting for a password reset, I kicked it back alive. I have no idea what put my account in that limbo state out of nowhere.
Man, Disqus feels like a royal pain...
I'm sick of it. Decided to not change anything and just not bother commenting
Some will say hooray, lol
I just get sick of jumping through hoops for things
