Free VPN for the rest of us? Using Hotspot Shield on WM? - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Roaming with free WiFi services I often wish I'd could use at least a free VPN service like Hotspot Shield (HS) which I use on my notebook PC. But alas HS only offers settings for the iPhone. Any suggestions on how we could get these settings to work on our beloved HD? http://hotspotshield.com/clientless/iphone/
Of course WM's built-in VPN client would be the first choice, but so far I had not luck getting a connection over WiFi. Currently testing the German NCP-E VPN multi-server WM client, but again no luck connecting with HS.

Windows Mobile VPN
Hi Skitty
Get the IT folks at your company to have a look at http://www.netmotionwireless.co.uk
NetMotion Wireless offer a free 30 day eval of their software, NetMotion Mobility, which gives you a Mobile VPN for Windows Mobile (and big Windows) and installs in less than an hour on a Windows server. It beats legacy VPNs for performance on wireless and for being easy to install and easy to use!
The product was recently certified by MS for Windows Mobile 6 http://www.netmotionwireless.com/company/press/10_24_2007.aspx
Hope that helps
Kind regards
Stef
Hi Stef.
The only problem is the VPN isn't set up from our server, its set up on our internet suppliers box. So we only have limited settings we can change on it
Thanks anyway
James

[Q] VPN app for SGS??

Hi guys,
I am based in Dubai and due to career restrictions, we are not able to use VOIP and surf freely, is there any VPN app for Android (Anchorfree, hotspot shield is not yet available for Android sofar) SGS?
what about built in vpn ???
Thanks for reply, wt I wanted to say is that for iphone there are settings which we can put into in_built vpn to work, I am looking for these settings of hotspot shield, can please anyone help?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
the built in vpn is pretty straight forward.. there are really no settings for the vpn in dd-wrt just use pptp vpn and username and pwd is all you need.. not sure for other vpns.
i use witopia vpn and pptp on my macbook and sgs, you only put ur pptp information (same as iphone)
dono if anchorfree settings will work for you because i tried it on iphone before and it was awful plus they sell your data so don't access any sensitive information using their pptp.
ps: witopia pptp is a paid service (will cost you around 40$ a year, fully supported and safe).

VPN problem with Desire

I have Desire. Try to create VPN connection to my work net over 3g, GPRS or Wi-Fi. Tunnel creation is succesful. It's working perfect for 15-20 seconds then nothing. No any warnings in Phone. VPN Server says it's OK. But net resources and RDP connections are unavailable. I'm using IPsec/PP2P protocol. Server with Win2k.
Also try to connect to another VPN server (router). Same result in such different situations
Same problem here. Using hideipvpn.com service. No internet connection when connected to vpn
up? Somebody help pls
Old WinMo works excellent but my new Android doesn't want

VPN or Virtual Private Network gives you the ability to connect from a hotspot to your home network. Once connected you can use the services of your own network while being somewhere else. For example if you have set up a DLNA server at home, you can watch your movies while sitting in the park for example. This is of course if both your home internet connection and the hotspot's connection can spare the bandwith required for the service you are using and the service doesn't mind the extra lag.
VPN is more useful if you connect to your business network, because companies usualy limit the services and data that can be accessed from the internet.
That's the theory anyway, because I can't test that feature - my router doesn't support incoming VPN connections.

Cicso Anyconnect Win RT

Hi,
i'm gonna be on holidays and for some services i need a German IP address. I have a Surface RT. Do you have any ideas how to get that??
I'm happy with every solution that is free and stable and allows streaming. I have an VPN access from my university, but i need cisco anyconnect. So if there is a hack how to run anyconnect on the surface, it should be the easiest way.
