[Q] VPN app for SGS?? - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hi guys,
I am based in Dubai and due to career restrictions, we are not able to use VOIP and surf freely, is there any VPN app for Android (Anchorfree, hotspot shield is not yet available for Android sofar) SGS?

what about built in vpn ???

Thanks for reply, wt I wanted to say is that for iphone there are settings which we can put into in_built vpn to work, I am looking for these settings of hotspot shield, can please anyone help?

the built in vpn is pretty straight forward.. there are really no settings for the vpn in dd-wrt just use pptp vpn and username and pwd is all you need.. not sure for other vpns.

i use witopia vpn and pptp on my macbook and sgs, you only put ur pptp information (same as iphone)
dono if anchorfree settings will work for you because i tried it on iphone before and it was awful plus they sell your data so don't access any sensitive information using their pptp.
ps: witopia pptp is a paid service (will cost you around 40$ a year, fully supported and safe).

Free VPN for the rest of us? Using Hotspot Shield on WM?

Roaming with free WiFi services I often wish I'd could use at least a free VPN service like Hotspot Shield (HS) which I use on my notebook PC. But alas HS only offers settings for the iPhone. Any suggestions on how we could get these settings to work on our beloved HD? http://hotspotshield.com/clientless/iphone/
Of course WM's built-in VPN client would be the first choice, but so far I had not luck getting a connection over WiFi. Currently testing the German NCP-E VPN multi-server WM client, but again no luck connecting with HS.

Pandora outside US

I have the apk, still doesn't work. Is there anyway I can make the app think this phone is in the states?
btw if it matters I'm Canadian.
Use a VPN. Maybe Market enabler might work aswell.
I've never used it so I don't know though
That wouldn't work. Pandora itself checks to make sure you are in the right place, so I don't think market enabler would work.
Also, asking someone to thank you is douchey.

A VPN or some other kind of proxy to the United States would be the only way.
I'm in Canada and can confirm you that Pandora will work if you connect via VPN or proxy... Same thing for Netflix, hulu, mog etc

I use a PPTP VPN service from http://www.strongvpn.com when I am out of the US. It's stable and I can stream Pandora for hours but on occasion I need to reset the connection.

I'm also using strong VPN! Yes the connection is real stable, what I did is I bought their router... now when I connect to the strong vpn router I'm virtually in the us, if I use my regular router I'm here in Canada like I suppose too.

Hey big samm,
I didn't buy their router but actually configured their OpenVPN Lite service on my dd-wrt flashed router. I use the PPTP service on my mobile devices. Don't want to sound like an advert but once you sign up for OpenVPN you can get the PPTP service for just $2 per month. PPTP is flawed with insecurities but serves my temporary needs when on the road...

VPN only need at app start
Also, once you open up Pandora and wait for a couple of seconds you can disconnect from VPN - it only checks for country when it first loads and when you use the the thumbs up and down or try to tweak your stations. Skip works however. I have been trying to find a PPTP app (VPNRoot doesn't work for me: MS-CHAP authentication request denied error) that I can automate to connect to VPN prior to Pandora that works on ICS+. Apparently TOR does this, I just don't want something running all the time using up battery.
transport iturfad
Sorry if this is a stupid assumption or question, if you can get the apk file for pandora is it not possible to edit/modify the apk not to send ip information? Rather than having to install another app to block the ip like VPN?

How exactly does att detect tethering? Can I vpn?

I am still on a grandfathered plan and would like to keep it.
When I connect to my work network, it routes all traffic... Vpn and random Internet traffic through the vpn tunnel..
If i tether while I'm connected to my vpn, can att detect it? I would think not since it's encrypted?? Or is there something I'm missing?
I'm worried that tethering would force it to use atts gateway/ip instead of the vpn.
Does anybody know?
Thank you!

guess i'll find out...
couldn't get wifi tethering working.. anytime i enabled it 'settings' would FC (maybe because i froze tethering provision apk?
so i tried foxfi - and that wifi tether would turn on - but it would change the routing tables of my vpn.. and use normal 4g/att internet
but i have bluetooth on my laptop!
connected to vpn on phone, enabled bluetooth DUN on foxfi - and on my pc when i check my ip on third party websites (i.e nwtools.com) , it shows the IP of my VPN....
so far so good, i hope they can't see this traffic.
please search before posting new threads. there's multiple threads about this topic.

A good VPN to use in 4.2

With 4.2 they added an option that allows you to always keep VPN on, and only connect to the internet if your VPN service is available.
Now, how cool it would be for those who don't live in the US to use your Gnex as if you always were in the US??
Considering that i'm not a big fan of installing 3rd party apps to do everything, especially when it can be done by default, what free US VPN service would you suggest me that can be correctly configured without the 3rd party app on android 4.2?
ty and have a good night
Any suggestion?

I use http://www.StrongVPN.com
OpenVPN configured on my router and PPTP on my mobile devices (Nexus etc.). Both are very stable. I have not used "Always On" because I use the same config on the different devices only when I want it and am supposed to only use it on one device at a time...

"Always-on VPN" seems bugged on my 4.2 yakju gnex: I have added a VPN to my list and I'm able to connect with it, but if if I click always on VPN it says no vpns are available

Anyone able to get tethering to work over VPN when using the always-on feature, or do you have to disconnect to tether?
