Is there a way to delete all past appointments in the Calendar without having to manually delete each one, one at a time?
I don't think that there is built-in functionality for this short of a hard reset to delete all of your data. If you're using Activesync to connect to a computer or Exchange server, you can select how far in the past to synch.
All programs > Activesync > Options > select "Calendar" > settings
The options are:
All
2 weeks
1 month
3 months
6 months
Search for Pocket Outlook Eraser.
Its free and you can choose to delete tasks, appointments and contacts.
Once you chose what to delete it will erase every record of that type.
Yes, just tried it thanks. It erases ALL appointments. I have literally hundreds of appointments on the device and need to delete those which have passed.
i.e. I only want to erase OLD appointments. I can't be the only businessman using a TP2 that wants to clear out old appointments surely. This is fundamental. Does anyone know how to delete appointments selectively?
Many thanks
The easiest way to do that is through ActiveSync. Just set up ActiveSync to sync all your future appointments untill max 2 weeks ago. So the only old appointments you will have are those of these 2 weeks. These can either be deleted easily manually or by resyncing with ActiveSync. Hope this helps.
Yes, if you select only the upcoming 2 weeks events every time you sync you only get the appointments in the 2 week span, and the old ones are deleted.
I use SK Tools and there is an option in the "Long List View" to delete old appts...Tj
Thanks for your feedback. The Active Sync alternative seems a bit convoluted and as I'm on the road a lot with no access to a PC for some time, I would rather be able to delete appointments solely on the device. I will check SK tools. It seems strange not to have such an essential facility available directly in Window Mobile though.

When I sync my Hermes with my Exchange account at work, all my calendar items (namely, holidays that are marked as all day) show up on my phone 1 day early. If I change the calendar item on my phone and re-sync it, then it moves the calendar item on my desktop version of Outlook to span 2 days, from 1 am of the first day to 1 am of the second day. This seems to happen only for calendar items that appear after Februray.
Any ideas?

And I thought I was the only one that has had this issue. real pain in the @$$.
Nope, guess we are in the same boat. I have looked around a few places for a solution and have not (obviously) found one as of yet. I have to believe this is a sizeable issue that affects quite a few users.
Exchange / Outlook
What is the time zone that your Outlook client is set to use? You can find this in your TOOLS > OPTIONS > CALENDAR OPTIONS > TIME ZONE config.
Exchange / Outlook maintain their own time zones seperate from Windows. That is partially the reason why DST 2007 was such a pain in the ass to implement for IT departments.
Also, in your full Outlook client, check to see if the appointment is set as "full day" rather than from 12AM to 12AM or the like.

My timezone in Outlook is set for GMT -5 EST and daylight savings time is checked, which is the correct information. The appointments I am concerned with are the holidays I loaded, which come into Outlook as all day.
Hmm... you could try removing all holidays, sync with your device, re-add the holidays, then sync again.
An easy way to get all the holidays is to go to your Calendar (full Oulook) and change the view to "By Category", this should group your holidays into a single group. You can highlight them all to delete them.
To re-add them, go back to the TOOLS > OPTIONS > CALENDAR OPTIONS > ADD HOLIDAYS config.
Other than that, I am out of ideas as to what other variables are causing this in your case. Good luck.

Thanks for the holiday deletion tip. There has got to be an easy solution to this.
I've had same issue also with "Holidays" date from Outlook.
I was able to solve it by removing sync with exchange server and sync agenda only with my PC :-(
i had this same problem for a while. make sure the time zone is correct and the same in all of the places your syncing. i was facing this problem when the time zone was incorrectly set up on my phone, though the time was correct it was changing each time the phone was synced to my home computer. make sure the time zone settings in the phone are set not to change with the carrier.
Success!
I was finally able to resolve my issue. It had to do with the Daylight Savings Time change, because I noticed events before March 11th were ok, but those after were wrong. That is the new start of DST (in the year 2007). I suggest anyone with this problem visit this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/default.mspx
and apply the patch. Despite the fact it says WM6 is not affected, I have WM6 and this fixed my issue. There is a spot in the article that mentions changing your timezone to anything else other than your default, then changing it back...perhaps this reloads something from the registery. Anyway, I initially didn't do this and my items were still off by a day, but then I went back and did this and it worked.
I suggest deleting any affected items from Outlook (desktop), sync your device then re-add the items and re-sync and, hopefully, enjoy your items being on the correct time and day!!
Even not :-(
I've tried everything:
my phone and my PC are on same TimeZone (Paris)
All DST patchs installes
All events entered few months ago are OK, but if I enter a new one in Outlook 2003 (exemple 2nd July, full day event), I will have it on my TYTN on 1st July
If I enter an event on 2nd July from 8AM to 9AM, it's well syncronised on my TYTN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That means only full day event are wrong
Does anybody have an idea to solve this ?
Thanks for your help
I experienced the same problem : during DST period, all my entries in the calendar on the phone were 1 day before the real date in Outlook.
I solved the problem by setting the same timezone as on the PC.
For me (living in France), my PC (XP) is "(GMT+01:00) Bruxelles, Copenhague, Madrid, Paris" and my phone (WM6.1) was originaly on "GMT+1 Prague,Budapest" and I changed this setting on "GMT+1 Paris,Madrid".
But every time I did a soft reset, the bad setting was restored probably due to the phone operator.
I had to unckeck in in phone settings the option "Automatically change timezones and time" on the "timezone" tab.
After that, I don't have any more problems.
Hope it helps.
My mail syncs automatically with mail2web to my dash.
I think I remember that on WM5 I had to clean my mailbox from time to time, so that it doesn't get clogged up with messages.
It seems that on WM6.1 this is not neccessary any more - messages seem to automatically disappear from my mailbox from time to time. I don't know how many exactly are saved, but now I have only 3 days worth of e-mail on my phone. Anything older was automatically removed.
I would really like to be able to adjust this, or disable auto-delete of messages altogether. Sometimes I have messages that I'd like to keep for longer than 3 days...
Does anyone know how to disable or adjust this behaviour of outlook in WM6.1?
I would love to know this as well. I assumed it was a corporate setting that was pushed to my phone as I am connecting to our email servers via Exchange push but since others have ~3 days I would now guess it is a client side restriction.
Also, I have nothing in my sent emails and all but the last few minutes of deleted items. For instance if I accidentally delete an email I can go grab it real quick but there is usually only 1 or 2 emails in my deleted items when I check. Any other time the deleted items folder is completely empty.
Hi Guys,
I dont know about any other service other than Microsoft Push from Exchange, and to change the number of days that the email is kept you need to go to
ActiveSync -> Menu -> 4- Configure Server -> Next -> Next -> Scroll down to E-mail and click on Menu -> Settings and there you have the option to set any of the following:
1 day
3 days
1 week
2 weks
1 month
All
Regarding deleting them, the device will not move deleted items to the deleted folder and keep them there until you either delete them from your deleted folder on the device or on exchange. Most companies will enforce a rule that says when you close your Outlook it automatically deleted your deleted items, in which case you can go to the recovered deleted items on Outlook and recover email from the past weeks/months depending on your companies policies.
Hope that helps.
thank you!
Thank you, I think that was the setting I was looking for. I had it set to 3 days.

Oh, sweet! That's exactly what I was hoping for.
I guess I should grumble something about how convoluted MS is in placing these types of settings and with all my clicking and investigating I would have never found this. But that would just be in vain now wouldn't it.
Thanks for sharing this.
Hi everybody,
the switch from my TyTN II to the Rhodium was far from painless so far. I use the T-Mobile German version with the 6.5 upgrade. Running on 6.1, the Rhodium was far from stable and I was fearing I'd break my back cover from having to remove it so often for a reset. But even the update to 6.5 didn't remove the following error:
After Syncing I find in my calendar (mainly on the current day) one or more rows of identical, empty appointments that cannot be deleted, or rather, that seem to show up again and again when deleted.
The trial version of "Duplicates Remover" then shows literally hundreds of identical appointments.
Does anybody know a fix for this, or a hint where the bug could originate?
I have mixed experiences with Active Sync as I'm synchronizing with two PCs, so appointments and contacts have been deleted/are cropping up again long after deletion. I wish it was as effortless as HotSync on my Palm used to be ...
I'm sorry if this question has been asked and answered before, but forum search didn't come up with anything useful (maybe I've used the wrong search terms).
Thanks, Robert
*bump*
anybody have the same issue? hundreds of empty appointments on the day I start sync? I talked to T-Mo support and they didn't know the problem.
Robert
I've noticed the same issue recently with my HTC diamond 2 after upgrading to Outlook 2007 SP2 on a Windows XP laptop with ActiveSync 4.5.0 (Build 5096). The problem did not exist previously when running Outlook 2003 and syncing the same laptop and device.
Also have the device syncing with a Vista laptop also running the Outlook 2007 SP2 without issue. The difference is that vista uses the mobile device centre software instead of ActiveSync. I've searched the internet for a patch or update to ActiveSync for Windows XP but it seems I'm running the most update version.
I have the same problem with windows live, outlook, plaxo, and messenger, the problem is messenger really doesn't like you messing with the contacts and pictures attached to messenger just aren't really supported and are more or less user defined by the contact... so you get multiples... then syncing can create a info loop... still working on the problem but as for the calender what I found is to go and remove the repeating occurance... bet this is where the problem lies I have loads of them! I ended up deleting the folder and starting over! I created a dummy folder set it as my default and then deleted the corrupted one... I have found no program that changes all repeating events to one time events...
<fingers crossed>
At the moment I seem to be rid of most of the duplicates. In the end I had to do another hard reset on the mobile device, clear the duplicates from Outlook (2003), then sync. I have not, as I had before, synced the HTC with a second PC.
</fingers crossed>
Active Sync is really an embararssing piece of software ...
Robert
I have a similar issue. Got a Diamond 2, at home I run Win7 with Mobile Center but at work I have XP SP2 with AS. I get tons of blank appointments being created. If I disable calendar syncing, I get hundreds of blank contacts instead!!!
I use no messenger and whatnot - anyone has found a solution?
For me it was a problem of duplicate appointments and contacts.
I no longer synch using the wmdc now. Instead I just use the Microsoft My Phone service.
Notwithstanding, it would be great if microsoft could sort out the messy wmdc...
Yes, but the problem is that I deleted all my appointments and I've no duplicate contacts,a nd the problem persists... so it can't be that.
Also, no use for me using MyPhone as I don't use AS purely for backing up my device but also to sync it (surprise!) with my job calendar etc...
Duplicates...
I've had all these issues and my only work-a-round has been to make a backup .pst copy of my contacts/calendar at work (XPSP2-Outllook 2003), making sure that when sync is done, I delate the lot, and re-import them from the backup. This seems to solve the problem. Also recurring appointments can sometimes stuff up as they are interprited as 18hrs and not just 12hrs, which in turn can cause conflicts.
From what I can see it is an active sync issue that I have not come accross with Vista/7 & Outlook 2007+. With the different ways that these applications handle appointments/calanders I'm not surprised as to the corruption/dupplication of the data.
Another alternative option is to use PIM Banckup/SPB or other, let AS do it's thing, then over-right the phone with the backup copy, and let it re-sync the corrections.
I've triedto find something on MS helpdesk and leaderboards, but so far no success.
Hi everybody.
Did anybody get a solution (definitive, easy, fast) for this issue?
My sync was running nice and without problems for a long time. The same smartphone syncing with a couple notebooks... but I also starting get this same problem some weeks ago.
I've been hardly looking for how to fix it but I didn't find a solution so far.
Tks2all.
Over 3000 empty contacts in Outlook 2007 under Win 7
I have a similar problem, and haven't yet found any specific solutiion. I add contacts and calendar items to both my home installation (Outlook 2003 under WinXP x64) and my work installation (Outlook 2007 under Windows 7). I was able originally to sync my Samsung OmniaPro B7330 successfully with both systems (using ActiveSync 4.5 and Windows 7 Sync Center, respectively). The problems started when I tried to resync with my work system after adding a couple of thousand contacts to the Samsung which were on my home system. When I tried to resync there were no error messages, but I had to interrupt and resume once, because it took so long. Now I have over 3000 empty contacts on the work (Windows 7) system. The contacts still look correct on the Samsung and on the home (XP) system.
How can I get these contacts correctly on the work system?
Iam afraid to delete the empty ones for fear that the next sync will wipe the corresponding contacts with information from the smartphone.
The calendar entries seem to be working OK.
Any ideas or pointers to other possible sources of info on this problem?
P.S. If I observe the Outlook 2007 Contacts page while the contacts are synchronizing, it looks like there are 2 phases:
During the first phase, I can see the desired contacts being added to Outlook, one by one.
At the end of that phase, they somehow all disappear.
Windows Sync Center eventually says that the sync was "completed", without showing any error messages. Is there some way to get Winows Mobile Device Center to produce a logfile, so I can get a better idea of what is going on?
P.P.S. The last sync seems to have finally gotten the new contacts to appear in Outlook 2007. However, I still have over 3000 empty contacts. Can I safely delete them?
P.P.P.S. I went ahead and deleted them. I now have somewhat less than 3,000 contacts, with information that looks reasonable. Looking at my "Deleted Items" folder in Outlook, I see a bit over 12,000 contacts?!
Why this? In addition to the 3,000+ empty contacts I just deleted, there are 3 copies of each contact with information! The Outlook "Sync issues" folder conatins a string of messages distributed over the last week, about half of which mention "Conflict Resolution". I am now concerned that Outlook or WMDC may have done violence to some of the data in my contacts in the attempt tpo "auto-resolve" conflicts.
I have this problem if I sync via ActiveSync at work and Device Center at home.
I've learned the hard way that those two just don't play nice together. I keep praying that one day they'll kiss and make up...
Debbie
I also have this problem syncing my HD2 with 2 PCs, one with Outlook 2007 and the other Outlook 2010.
All ran fine for a while syncing from my Work PC to HD2, and from HD2 to my Home PC. Out of the blue it failed to sync properly with my Work PC and 2,000 half-hour blank appointments were created at the current time and day. To make matters worse, most birthdays disappeared in 2011 and lots of entries were duplicated.
I spent a whole morning deleting the 2,000 blank entries and hundreds of duplicate appointments. Listing the annual events I found most were set to repeat every 12 years which explained why birthdays had disappeared! I've corrected this and things seem fine now with my Work PC, but I'm wary about syncing with my Home PC in case all goes wrong again!
Any solutions?
My friend has same problem with his HD2 (Win7, Outlook 2007, 2010).
With sync the Outlook make half hours appointments in the current day. Interesting: when I disconnect the phone, the empty appointments are dont cancelling.
Same problem here (around 150 of half-hour appointments in one day).
I am using HTC Diamond since 2008, the problem started in July 2011 when syncing with work computer.
I have no idea how to fix it.
I can only offer some information on what's going on.
When syncing, the first thing that happens is empty appointments are all created on today. These are then populated, setting the date, time, subject etc. So it sounds like your sync only gets up to creating the empty appointments and doesn't finish setting the information.
Sorry I can't be more help - unless the process is not allowing to be completed.
Hey Folks,
I've tried looking and I couldn't find anything.
I received my Tilt 2 a few days ago and set up my Outlook Email.
Everything worked fine and my Inbox and Calander tied up to my work server.
The problem is when I receive a new email...the phone doesn't receive it. I have to actually hit "SEND/RECEIVE" to get the new emails...they are pushed through!
I've checked everything and copied the settings from my previous WM phone. I have the schedule set to "As items come".
Any help?
Thank you much!
Open your Wireless Manager and make sure Microsoft Direct Push is turned on?
I am also having a problem with outlook syncing and notifications. I previously used a Tilt and then a Fuze and one of the things that I like the best was that outlook email would arrive and I would get notified quicker than on my PC.
With the Tilt2 it takes a long time to get the notification (envelope on top) and the email itself unless I send/receive.
Push is turned on all other settings are correct. My next step will be to hard reset and try again.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Change your messaging options for your Outlook email.
Go to email box....click "Menu" then select "Option"
Then select the email account, then edit account setup.
Continue to press "Next" until you reach the "Automatic Send/Receive"
Make your changes as needed.
I have my Tilt 2 setup every 5 minutes and downloads today's messages only.
I hope this help....
That works fine for regular email accounts. I have that setup for my other email accounts. Outlook uses push mail through activesync and it should be immediate. Unfortunately something has made this stop working.
I am assuming that you have selected option under schedule "as items arrive".
If so, then you might want to look at your server to make sure that is it not the problem.
If not there, you might try deleting and reinstalling the outlook active sync account on your phone.
If that does not work, you might have to resort to a hard reset.
Good luck.
Ok..finally got my Desire to Froyo..have been quite happy until I noticed that I can no longer upload Calendar updates to my PC's Outlook calendar.
I can make changes on the my Windows 7 PC's Outlook Calendar and have that go to my Desire but any Calendar changes on my Desire will not synch up to my PC's Outlook calendar. There are no problems with synch'ing contacts. Yes, I used the PC Synch calendar on the Desire.
This wasn't a problem before. Is HTC Synch not 100% compatiblewith Froyo?
Thanks for any insights.
PS:
1) Tried uninstalling/reinstalling HTC synch - no change there.
2) I've also noted that recurring entries in the calendar (eg: Birthdays) are getting duplicated on the days they occur (ie: 2 entries in the same day). Also, there are duplicate contacts being produced too.
sorry i'm not going to be much help here but i agree that htc sync is unpredictable at best. i constantly have to reboot my pc or phone or both to get sync to work and now my contacts have stopped syncing. again.
you might want to search for a leak of the updated version of htc sync to see if that helps. i'm assuming that it was pulled for a valid reason but it might be worth a try ...

I also have the same behaviour, new entries in the phone calendar are not added to the outlook calendar despite being flagged as "PC Sync"
For the birthday thing, I think that it is to do with the info you have stored against a contact in their contact card in outlook, if you have a date for their birthday in the details section of the contact, then sync repeatedly adds it to the calendar for you, even if it is there already
I have the same problem. So I've moved all Calendar entries in Outlook to temporary forder, then from Desire removed Outlook account, manually deleted all Outlook calendar entries in Desire's Calendar (they have left there, despite of account deletion) , then recreated Outlook account (Calendar after all these steps synced OK), and moved back all Calendar entries in Outlook from temporary folder back to main. This solved the non sync problem.
After all I've talked with Exchange specialist. He said, that for some reason Calendar database in Desire become corrupt, and after that the syncing become unimpossible.
Ok, I've managed to fix this (I think anyway!) works for me with outlook 2003, Couple of steps:
Step 1 (optional) gets your missing items onto your PC:
In HTC sync Manger (on PC) go into "settings" then calendar, then click properties, untick deafult calendar and then when selecting the folder to sync with, create a new calendar "temp" or something
Now sync with that calendar: for me this meant that everything on my phone (including the items not uploading before) now goes into this new calendar
Now go back and revert to syncing to the original calendar (the default calendar or me) and lo and behold the missing items now sync up to that too
I thought this was everything sorted, but new items created in the phone still don't sync up to outlook....
so Step 2:
On phone, go into settings, applications, manage applications, all
then for calendar and calendar storage apps go in and "clear data", this will leave you with an empty calandar on your phone, but don't panic...
in HTC sync manger (on PC) go into settings and unselect contact syncing (otherwise the PC will overwrite contact info)
Then go into "repair" and select option for PC to overwrite phone
you can now reselect contacts to sync too under settings menu in HTC sync
Having done this, everything is back on my phone and (for now at least) new appointment items created on the phone sync up correctly too
Hope this helps someone,
P
THANKS!

popkid's solution works. HTC should employ you..none of their ideas worked, your's did.
1000 cheers for taking the time to work out and post the solution!

3.0 does not have the feature to do a repair - force copy clean from handset or PC.
For me, sych has resulted in a large number of yearly recurring all day events being duplicated and copied with a one hour adjustment - the new ones run from 1:00-1:00 and thus span two days.
I am back using 2.0.33 (which is not without bugs either)
